We are pleased to support this year’s 10 accomplished finalists who have distinguished themselves by rising above challenging circumstances and were selected based on their tenure as a Club member, strong academic standing, strength of character, and perseverance.

L E T TE R F R O M TH E P R E S I D E N T

Dear Friends, Welcome and thank you for attending our 2021 Charles Schwab Youth of the Year Virtual Celebration. While presented in a very different manner this year, I hope and expect that you will be just as moved by this Youth of the Year event. Each year, the Youth of the Year finalists inspire us by their resilience, courage, hope, and talent. Their stories encourage us to pause and appreciate our blessings, while encouraging empathy and understanding for the struggles of others in our community. And, each Youth of the Year spotlights the essence of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco and highlights the critical role the Club plays in the lives of thousands of Club members. Our 2021 Youth of the Year finalists are young people who have shown grit, drive to succeed, dedication to their community, and passion for their Club or Camp. I am proud to see the perseverance, strength, determination, and confidence that each finalist has displayed during the four-month journey that led to today. I want to express my gratitude to our event chairs—Derick Brown (former Club kid and past Youth of the Year), Matt Dillard, Jamie Ford, and Jen Millet—and the entire Youth of the Year committee for bringing together wonderful supporters and raising critical funds to support our work. I’m pleased to have Charles Schwab & Co. as our Presenting Sponsor for the 13th consecutive year and BlackRock as our Reception Sponsor for the 8th consecutive year—as well as all the other corporate and individual sponsors. Finally, I want to recognize and thank our Youth of the Year judges for the time, talent, and careful deliberation they contributed to the program. Thank you for your support. Please stick with us over the coming months and years. We are working hard to navigate through the final chapters of the pandemic and put in place strategies and resources to support young people and families through a long recovery. Sincerely,

Rob Connolly President
