General Managers Update
Hello everyone! It is a pleasure to be joining you as your General Manager. I am really looking forward to getting to know you all and working with the Team at Hoebridge to provide you with fantastic quality Golf Courses, alongside great facilities and a friendly welcome. I am currently General Manager at Wycombe Heights, and have been working across both sites throughout April as I hand my position over and take on the role full time at Hoebridge. I will be joining you full time from Monday 16th May 2022. However, I felt it was important for me send out an update to all of you now, rather than keeping you waiting for a few more weeks. I will ensure these regular newsletters include plenty of updates on what is going on around the Centre and out on the Golf Courses, as well as introduce you to some of the team. Below you will find updates from Barry (Course Manager), Ian (Head Professional), Shawn (Sales Manager), and Ryan (Gym Manager). Thank you to all of you who have welcomed me so warmly. I arrived at Hoebridge to a beautiful bunch of flowers presented by the Team. The Team have been brilliant in introducing me to your Golf Club and showing me around. I've also had the opportunity to speak with a few of you around the Clubhouse, and look forward to meeting more of you later on this month.
One of the things that stood out to me the most on my arrival was the condition of the Golf Courses. The Greenkeeping team had been without a Course Manager for several months prior to the arrival of the new Course Manager Barry in April. Despite this Mark and the rest of the Greenkeeping team did a phenomenal job in keeping the Courses in the condition they are, especially across the difficult winter months. I would like to give my personal thanks and congratulations to the Greenkeeping team. We are very lucky to have such a strong and dedicated team looking after all 3 Courses. With such a great team in place, this will free myself and the Course Manager up to get to know the Courses in detail and be able to work towards improving them even further. The large GUR area on the 12th of the Main Course will certainly be very high up on the agenda for myself and Barry to speak about as soon as I am there full time. We will of course update you on our decision as soon as we have decided on the best solution to this area.
Thank you to all of you who have renewed your membership with us this April. Shawn and the sales team are currently making their way through phone calls to all of you. We hope that the call will give you the chance to ask any questions regarding your membership that you are unsure of, as well as allow us the chance to update you on some of the benefits that membership offers. One of the big changes to be made recently, is the use of your members card to receive 10% off food and drink at the bar. I believe, previously, you have only been able to receive this discount if paying via the app. I am, therefore, pleased to let you know that this is no longer the case. Your membership card can be used as a pre paid levy card at the bar to receive 10% off of food and drink via the below process: 1. Top your membership card up with credit at any time via the app or directly at the bar 2. Order your food and drink items at the bar or via the bar team 3. Your membership card will be swiped at the till point and the 10% discount will automatically be applied 4. The pre paid credit on your membership card will be deducted to pay for your order (ie you don't need to use your debit/credit card) 5. The bar team can provide you with a receipt which shows the remaining levy balance on your membership card, and you can view your balance via the app. Please note that you need to have your members card on you for the discount to be applied, as we need to swipe it on the bar till points, where at the same time the money will be deducted to pay for your order. If you do not have a members card then simply email our Head Professional, Ian Haywood, on i.haywood@hoebridgegc.co.uk who will arrange for a card to be set up for you.
Our new Summer Menu went live during April, with some delicious new items for you to try. My personal favourite is the Cambodian Vegetable Curry. We still have plenty of your favourites alongside the new items and our Head Chef Tristan ensures the specials are updated regularly to offer additional lunch options for you to enjoy. Hopefully the Sun will start to show its face again, and I look forward to seeing you all enjoying a bite to eat out on the patio area this summer. Talking of Summer, I will be away from Hoebridge on holiday until Monday 16th May. I had booked some time away in Lanzarote with my family prior to knowing my start date at Hoebridge. However, as you get to know me, you'll know that I love travelling and seeing the world. A sunny beach holiday is therefore perfect for me to refresh and come back raring to go in a few weeks time. I am a very approachable General Manager. I am always happy to listen and will communicate out what is happening around your Club as well as reasons why. Course Update
Hello everyone I guess I should introduce myself and to say I am delighted to become Hoebridge’s new course manager. Firstly, though I would like to say I am lucky that when I arrived a month ago I walked in to find the courses and surrounding areas in amazing condition, considering the time
of year and I need to say a massive thank you to Mark and all the guys and girls that have been working so hard over the last few months. They are a credit to Hoebridge Golf Centre, you should feel lucky to have them, I know I do! All of the staff and the few members that I have meet, so far, have been so welcoming and friendly and made myself and my family feel like we have been here for ages. I have previously worked at Maidenhead Golf Club for the last 22 years, working my way up from trainee to Course Manager. I come from a good greenkeeping pedigree with my father and brother being head greenkeepers and successful sports turf contractors, respectively. So far I have spent my days chipping in where I can on the courses and trying to ensure the team have what they need to function more effectively and work on ironing out some irrigation issues, which is proving more important as every day we go without rainfall. Moving forward on the courses, we will be looking to try and bring the maintenance regimes to the same levels across the board, as we are short staffed at present we will use contractors to help us achieve our goals and we have some booked in to aerate the greens, with small tines, on the Main course on the 10th May. The plan is to keep ahead of golf but with some of you early birds this might be difficult, so I ask for co-operation on allowing us to get this important work carried out. We will be all hands to the pumps with mowing and general course maintenance over the next few months, but I will be working on what course improvements we can make after the season has finished and yes this will involve the 12th hole!! Exactly what I am not 100% sure yet but we will let you know in advance! I would like to use these monthly newsletters to try and educate/explain/justify some of the work we carry out and will try and make them seasonal, so they are relevant. I look forward to meeting more of you over the next few months and if you are not sure who I am then I am the one running around chasing my tail!!! But do stop me and say hello!! Golf Operations Update
The weather is improving, the evenings are getting lighter, the Masters is over for another year and that can mean only one thing…the golf season has officially started!! I hope like me that you are all looking forward to taking full advantage of the better weather and getting out on the golf course as much as possible!
We have now taken delivery of the majority of our Spring/Summer clothing ranges so why not treat yourself to an outfit for the new season? With brands such as Oscar Jacobson, Puma, Nike, Ping, JRB and Stuburt available, there is a wide variety to choose from. Please pop in and see for yourself next time you are up at the club! I am excited to announce that in line with our continued investment into the driving range, that plans to upgrade and refurbish the custom fitting room have been approved and work will begin next month with completion due by the end of May. The plans look fantastic and will continue to incorporate the market leading Trackman technology, I look forward to providing further updates in due course. I would like to remind you all that in addition to stocking the majority of market leading brands, we also offer our custom fitting service completely free of charge to our members. To coincide with the new season, we have recently put over 30,000 brand new Srixon range balls into circulation on the driving range to further enhance the experience. For those that may be unaware, you are able to top up your membership card with driving range credit at a discounted rate. A £50 top up gets you £60 worth of range credit which is the equivalent of a -20% saving each time you purchase range balls, this can be added in the Pro Shop at any time. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rhys Hughes on a fine victory in the recent British Junior Golf Tour event at Moor Park earlier this month. Rhys shot an impressive 77 (net 61) around the West Course to win the boys 9-12 category in a very competitive division, well done Rhys and keep up the good work!!

A Hello from the Sales Team Hello! My sales team consists of a team of 4, led by me Shawn as the Sales Manager. I recently joined the business in December having come from a Health and Fitness background. We have 2 sales executives. Tommy, who has been with us for a year now and Leon, who joined the team in February. Finally, Frances who has been with us for 3 years, works with us part time and is our support in ensuring the sales paperwork runs smoothly We have been working hard at looking to bring back more events to Hoebridge and we encourage our members to reach out to the sales team with ideas of what they would like us to do more of in the coming months. Now that we are out of Covid – we have brought back two of our more popular nights this Summer (Freddie Mercury Tribute night in June and a BBQ Quiz night in July). An Update from the Health Club................. From Beyond the Double Doors Where Few Golfers Venture!
A winter period with no restrictions or closures has been hugely positive for the Health Club, it's so nice to have the buzz of a busy gym back and full fitness classes making the past few months fly by! The popularity of our Box Fit and Bootcamp classes in particular means that
we have added an additional Wednesday and Friday evening sessions to the spring timetable.
