Hello all,
Thank you to all that came to the presentation evening on Saturday. It was great fun and lovely to see you all dancing!
Few things to update you on - as always if you have any feedback or ideas - whip them across!
Ramsdale
Raises Record Amount for Maggies Cancer Charity!
£19,275 - WOW
Saturday night saw our Annual Presentation Evening where we handed over an enormous cheque. Throughout the year you guys have donated generously, supported the events and we have achieved a record amount. My heartfelt thanks goes to Mr Danny Harkin our President. Danny is really the driving the force behind our fund raising and all around top chap!
Well done everyone what a great job!
Costs are rising...
We all know this. We are all feeling it in our own homes. Our utilities are set to be 400% higher in 2023 compared to 2022. There is no hiding form it.
Price of basic food items and drinks are increasing. Wages are also set to rise. There's no way to absorb all of it so I will have to pass some cost increases on. BUT as I have controlled the increases in the past - I will do so again. Look out for the members specials which will hit the tables next week.
I am deeply saddend to report that Tony Brant passed away today after a long illness. Tony has been a member of the club since 1994. A past Senior Captain, Tony was well respected around the club.
Tony will be sadly missed, in particular his wife Sue and his regular Ramsdale Golf buddies, Tony Syme, Neil Harris and John O'Neil.
The flag will be at half-mast until the funeral. Once details are confirmed I will let you all know.
Johnny's Team are on FIRE!
The lads have been working hard - even in the cold and wet!
After what seemed like the hottest and longest summer in memory, Johnny and his team now have the long process of course recovery after the drought. You would think that all the rain we have had would help - but sadly, causes more issues when it's all in one go!
Few things going on:
Tee's & Greens: -
• 1st tee has had a new drain installed to combat the flooding.
• 1st Tee path being renovated
• All Tees have had the new soil treatment which has worked a treat - reducing the wormcasts
• Greens – The greens and aprons need organic matter control. We will introduce air to break up the matter. Generally done in between all the other necessary jobs so please watch out for us!
Fairways:-
• Will receive the new treatment. Costing just under £11k. This treatment will improve the fairways.
• Spring tining and scarifying fairways
Decompaction - Once the soil profile is sufficiently wet enough, we will then begin vertidraining. After the summer many areas are compacted from summer traffic and drought, the verti-drain will de-compact the soil profile and allow drainage in improve, again vital for recovery.
Pathwork & Deep Rough & Bunkers:
• Several paths around the course will have the boys on them, tidying them up and getting the old whacker plate them
• Turfing - There are several areas to re-turf that have died or just need to be re-instated this will be done towards the end of November
• Bunkers - Theresa and I have been walking the course a lot lately. We are looking at the bunkers and will get back to you!
