Villawood gives back to Victorians L

AST Friday Villawood Properties hosted a ceremony in Kamarooka Forest, north of Bendigo, marking the transfer of 250 hectares of forest land to the victorian government, fulfilling a commitment made in 2008 to set aside the equivalent amount for every residential block the developer has sold over the past decade. Member for East Bendigo, Jacinta Allan, attended on behalf of the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, Lily D’Ambrosio, and was presented with a sapling to represent the transfer of the land, which will significantly extend the Greater Bendigo National Forest. Ms Allan was also presented with a tub of Villawood Honey, which is grown and harvested in Kamarooka. The ceremony marked the second transfer of land previously held by Villawood Properties to P3-19102018

the people of Victoria, with a similar event being held in 2010 with the then Minister for the Environment, Gavin Jennings. Villawood Properties CEO Phil Hanna, said the initiative was driven by the developer’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. “Sustainability in all its forms is integral to how we conduct our business and since 2008, for every block of land sold in a Villawood Properties’ community, we’ve donated the equivalent area here on land adjoining the Kamarooka Forest that will be absorbed into the Greater Bendigo National Park.” “This initiative has allowed the preservation of critical natural habitat for a large number of local indigenous flora and fauna. The famous Villawood Properties honey, in fact, is produced by bees in the Kamarooka Forest.” Mr Hanna said, “Villawood
