USC AIKEN Dr. Sandra Jordan USC Aiken Chancellor
Sandra J. Jordan, former provost and vice president for academic affairs at Georgia College & State University, was named chancellor of the University of South Carolina Aiken in 2012. Jordan became the fourth chancellor of USC Aiken, succeeding Thomas L. Hallman who retired after 12 years in the position. “I am tremendously honored and humbled by this opportunity to serve the campus, community and the University of South Carolina system,” Jordan said. “USC
Aiken’s mission, unwavering dedication to student success and vibrant partnerships with the community, make this an exceptional and exciting position. I am thrilled to accept this invitation to join the Pacers during this pivotal time in the history of the institution and I look forward to working closely with President Pastides, the USC Aiken faculty, staff and students as well as our alumni and friends to build upon the successes that defined this university’s first 50 years.” Jordan’s appointment marks a return to the state where her higher education career began. From 19861989, she was an assistant professor of art history at Lander University and director of the Monsanto Gallery of Art.
Jordan earned her bachelor’s degree in art from the University of Alabama, and her doctorate in art history from the University of Georgia. She has also attended the Management Development Program at Harvard University’s Institute for Higher Education, the 21st Century Leadership Institute and was a summer fellow at Vanderbilt University’s Institute for Higher Education Management. A student of leadership, she is often asked to mentor new leaders at the state and national level. Jordan has been married for 30 years to Michael Jordan, an architect and graduate of Clemson University. They have a son, Matthew, who is a graduate student at the University of Alabama.

Warrick is married to Martha Blankenship Warrick of Augusta, Ga. They have one son, Tripp, who is a senior at USC Aiken. The Warrick family resides in North Augusta, S.C.

Tim Hall
(South Carolina, 1990 South Carolina, 1992) Tim Hall is in his 22nd year as a member of the USC Aiken athletic department. Hall first joined the program in 1990 as a graduate assistant. In 1993 he was hired on as the university’s full-time NCAA Compliance Coordinator. In August 1997, the Batesburg-Leesville native was promoted to Assistant Athletic
Director. In September 2003, Hall was promoted again, this time to the position of Associate Athletic Director for Administration and External Services. In this role, Hall oversees NCAA compliance and academic support. In addition, he assists with home game administration and fundraising. A 1990 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Hall received his Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration. In 1992, he earned a Master’s in Student Personnel Services from USC as well. In his time at USC Aiken, Hall has been on a number of campus committees including the first year academic advisor program and the enrollment management action team in the strategic planning process. Hall is married to the former Jenny Fulmer and they have three sons, Jordan, Ethan and Wyatt.

Angie Osbon (USC Aiken, 1992 South Carolina, 1996)
Angie Osbon is in her 13th year as a member of the USC Aiken athletic department. Osbon became the department’s business manager in 1999. Through the years she has earned a number of other titles, including Senior Woman Administrator, Student Athlete Advisory Committee Advisor and Cheerleading, Mascot and Dance Team Director. In 2007, Osbon received the Outstanding Committment to Student Development Award from the Office of Student Life. In September 2003, the Aiken, S.C., native was promoted to the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Business and Student Services. Osbon earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from USC Aiken in 1992. In 1996, Osbon received her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. In 2002, Osbon was named student organization advisor of the year and was selected to the Who’s Who Among Cheerleading Coaches. In addition, she has been a member of the first year academic advisor program and a staff facilitator for orientation. The former Angie Mathis is married to Rick Osbon and they have three children, Reagan, Gemma and Sterling.

Brian Hand
(North Greenville, 2003 Middle Tennessee, 2004) Brian Hand is in his fifth year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Promotions/Sports Information Director at USC Aiken. Hand came to USC Aiken from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. Hand left PC after serving for almost three years as the Director of Sports Information and Game Operations for the Blue Hose athletic department. Prior to accepting his position with PC, Hand worked as a public affairs assistant with the Southern Conference. Hand also worked as an intern with the Greenville Lions professional soccer team and as a sports clerk with The Greenville News before moving to Nashville, Tenn., in 2004 to serve as a media relations assistant with the Pacific Coast League’s Nashville Sounds, then the Class AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. A native of Greer, S.C., Hand completed his undergraduate studies at North Greenville University in Tigerville, S.C. in 2003. He holds a Master’s Degree in Sport Management from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Hand is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is married to the former Amy Prater of Pelzer, S.C. They are the proud parents of Alexander (four).

Brandon Aiken is in his 13th year as head athletic trainer and 15th overall at USC Aiken. Aiken, a native of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., joined the USC Aiken training staff in 1997 as a graduate assistant. He served in that capacity for three years until stepping into the head position in 2000. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine prior to the 2009-10 athletic year. A 1997 graduate of Saint Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C., Aiken received his Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine. Aiken is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Aiken also served as assistant and head athletic trainer at Hitchcock Rehabilitation Center in Aiken, S.C., for more than three years. At Hitchcock, he worked with high school, college, and professional athletes as well as general outpatient rehabilitation. Aiken guided the USC Aiken athletic training staff to back-to-back (2007-08 and 2008-09) Peach Belt Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year awards.

Joe Kucharski is in his 11th year as the “Voice of the Pacers.” A native of St. Louis, Mo., Kucharski graduated from St. Louis University in 1977. While at SLU, he provided statistics and analysis for the Billiken hockey and softball teams. Kucharski completed his graduate studies at the University of Utah, where he bowled for the Utes in the Inter-Mountain Collegiate Conference. He briefly held the record for the highest three-game series ever bowled in Salt Lake City. He has bowled a 300 game and is a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame. Kucharski and his family moved from New Jersey to Aiken in 1994. He works in operations for GlaxoSmithKline in Aiken. When not at USC Aiken sporting events, Kucharski enjoys playing golf and heads the chain gang for Schofield football.
Michael Kucharski is in his first year as Assistant Sports Information Director at USC Aiken. Kucharski has volunteered for the athletic department since enrolling in USC Aiken in the spring
of 2011. He has helped with the live webcasts of basketball, softball and baseball games and even served as commentator for baseball on the USC Aiken’s official athletic ustream channel. Kucharski has worked with the student newspaper, The Pacer Times, serving as both staff writer and Special Editor for the Hallman Retirement Edition, which was released on April 18, 2012. Kucharski received an Associates Degree from Aiken Technical College in 2008 as a paralegal. He is now a senior at USC Aiken studying Communications. He has received the Scott B. Hunter Scholarship for journalism students for the current academic year.

USC AIKEN University of South Carolina Aiken
The University of South Carolina Aiken was chartered in 1961 after entering into an agreement with the University of South Carolina to establish a two-year center in Aiken. The Aiken Center opened its doors in September 1961 to 139 students. Temporarily housed in Banksia, a renovated mansion in Aiken, the Center consisted of three full-time faculty members (one of whom served as Director of the Center). In 1968, the Center underwent an institutional selfstudy and was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a branch of the University of South Carolina and as a junior college. The first associate degrees were awarded in June 1968. The campus of USC Aiken moved from Banksia to its present site in 1972 and physical changes began to occur rapidly. At first, the permanent campus consisted of 100 acres and one multipurpose building which housed all university operations. A library was completed in 1975 and additional land was donated that increased the campus to 144 acres. In October 1977, the Student Activities Center was opened. A classroom building was occupied in 1978 and one
year later, an auxiliary services building was added. An apartment complex for students, Pacer Downs, was ready for occupancy in the fall of 1984. More construction additions to the campus included completion of the Etherredge Center, Ruth Patrick Science Education Center, the Business and Education Building and the Alan B. Miller Nursing Building. Additional land was acquired increasing the campus to 400 acres. Academic and organizational changes also occurred rapidly. The faculty formalized its organizational structure and redefined its role in the governance of the institution in 1974-75. Also, the students reorganized their governing body and more precisely defined their role on campus; the administration and staff structures were overhauled and expanded to meet the demands of the growing academic programs. When the full-time equivalent student enrollment reached 1,066 in the fall of 1975, the USC Aiken campus was permitted to plan for senior level courses and to create a number of baccalaureate degree programs. In that same year, USCA received approval as a four-year branch campus by the Board of Trustees of the University of South Carolina and USCA was designated a Recognized Candidate for Senior College Accreditation. In September 1976, the Board
of Trustees granted academic autonomy to the Aiken Campus. The first bachelor’s degrees were granted in May 1977 and USCA became a fully accredited senior college. Presently, the college community is comprised of more than 3,200 students, over 100 full-time faculty, approximately 110 staff members and 28 administrators. USCA awards bachelor’s degrees in more than 20 major areas of study, master’s degrees in two areas, and offers a varied program of continuing education courses for the wider community. Today, USC Aiken offers students a liberal education designed to develop an understanding of human experience which will equip them for life in a free society. To accomplish this, the University provides students with an opportunity to discover learning processes which enable them to grow personally and socially. It promotes students’ interaction within a community of active scholars and artists and it encourages students to use the knowledge which they gain to deal with the problems of a rapidly changing world.

USC AIKEN CONVOCATION CENTER Home of the Pacers
As USC Aiken Athletics has grown, its place in context of the University as a whole has evolved. With heightened importance comes the need for new tools for success. The Convocation Center, which opened in April 2007, is the grandest tool yet that will equip the Pacer programs with opportunities to succeed. A vision some 15 years in the making, the construction of the facility came to fruition only because of the dedication and hard work of campus and community leaders. Funding for the $17 million, 100,000 square foot facility came from both public and private sources. With a groundbreaking ceremony on December 9, 2005, construction in earnest began with a 14-month

USC AIKEN time table laid out for the project’s completion. With China Construction as the builders of the project, Chinese National Television was on hand for the historic groundbreaking. In addition to giving the men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball programs a state-of-the-art facility in which to practice and play, the athletic department as a whole has expanded space and modern offices in which to operate. Visitors to the building are greeted initially by the beautiful John C. Troutman Family Lobby, highlighted by the Lew Perkins Wall of Champions. The lobby works as a museum of Pacer greatness, both past and present. The Wall of Champions is a dedication to Lew Perkins, the former USC Aiken basketball coach and athletic director and former Director of Athletics at the University of Kansas. The lobby also includes trophy cases dedicated to each sport and a hanging banner featuring a prominent student-athlete from each sport’s past. The main arena has a seating capacity of 3,600 for athletic events. The men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams all practice and hold home events in the arena, which has state-of-the-art sound and scoreboard systems. One practice floor is located on
each side of the arena above the main competition floor, allowing the possibility for up to three teams to practice simultaneously. Overlooking the main competition floor is the VIP room, which gives the department a facility with a beautiful backdrop to host meetings, conferences or banquets. In addition, the building consists of eight spacious locker rooms, including ones dedicated for the men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball teams. The first weight training facility exclusively for the student-athlete is also housed next to the athletic training room.

2012 PBC TOURNAMENT Vision Statement: The Peach Belt Conference is committed to providing through its dependent collegiate members, a forum for student participation in athletic, academic and cocurricular events under the auspices of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Division II. We will exemplify the characteristics of a premier intercollegiate conference that prides itself on the inclusion of students of all demographic groups who wish to participate in a well-rounded sports program. Our institutions, our academic goals, our athletic aspirations reflect a communality of purpose and a commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the playing field. History: Entering its 23rd year of existence in 2012-13, the Peach Belt Conference has cemented its status as one of the elite Division II conferences in the nation. Since its inception in 1990-91, the Peach Belt has developed a consistent history of excellence which continues to this day with 32 national championships and 28 national finalists. Starting with only two championships in 1991, men’s and women’s basketball, the conference has expanded to 15 championship sports with the addition of men’s and women’s track and field in the spring of 2013. The conference traces its roots back to November of 1988 when 11 schools first met in Greenville, S.C. to form a Division II conference. Following a second meeting on Dec. 3, 1989, five of those 11 schools, plus two others, formed the Peach Belt and began play in fall 1990. The Peach Belt was less than a year old before capturing a national championship. The Columbus State golf team took the honor by winning the 1992 national crown, the first of three golf championships the Cougars own. One year later, the Lander men’s tennis team began their record-breaking run of eight straight national titles, the first PBC dynasty. Since then, USCA men’s golf has won three straight national titles from 2004-06.
Peach Belt Conference The PBC is in the midst of another dynasty as the Armstrong men’s and women’s tennis teams captured the 31st and 32nd national championships for the conference last year. The Pirates have won four women’s and three men’s national championships since 2008. Armstrong’s achievement was the highlight to one of the most successful seasons in league history. Peach Belt teams advanced to the national championship round of competition in 10 of our 13 sports. The Armstrong women’s soccer team reached the Final Four while the Flagler volleyball team went to the Elite Eight. The Montevallo men’s basketball team played in the National Championship game while the Lander women’s team reached the Elite Eight. The Flagler softball team reached the World Series while the Georgia College and USC Aiken men’s golf teams reached the final eight match play at the national championships. In all, 59 Peach Belt teams made appearances in the NCAA postseason, including seven men’s tennis teams and six each in the sports of men’s golf and women’s tennis. The seven charter members of the conference were Armstrong Atlantic State University, Columbus State University, Francis Marion University, Georgia College & State University, Lander University, USC Aiken and USC Upstate. The name Peach Belt Athletic Conference was adopted in January of 1990 and modified to Peach Belt Conference in May of 2000. Augusta State joined the conference in 1991 and UNC Pembroke became the ninth member on July 1, 1992. They were followed by Kennesaw State University on July 1, 1994, Clayton State University on July 1, 1995 and the University of North Florida on July 1, 1997. Kennesaw State and North Florida departed for the Division I ranks in 2005, USC Upstate did the same in 2007, and the conference welcomed in North Georgia College & State University in 2005 and Georgia Southwestern State University in 2006. In 2009-10, the Peach Belt added Montevallo and Flagler. For the 2012-13 season, the league is
expanding once again with the addition of Young Harris College, giving the Peach Belt 14 members for the first time in its history. David Brunk was named the second PBC commissioner in May of 2007. Brunk replaced Marvin Vanover, who was the first PBC commissioner from 1991 to 2007. Brunk is charged with continuing the strong growth of the conference as its second era begins. Dr. Fred Carter, president of Francis Marion University, begins his two-year term as president of the Peach Belt this year. The conference currently holds championships in 14 sports, six for men and eight for women. They are men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, baseball, softball and men’s and women’s golf and women’s track and field.

2012 PBC TOURNAMENT Mike Brandt Head Coach
Mike Brandt enters his 11th season as head of the USC Aiken women’s basketball program in the 2012-13 season on the heels of two years of huge successes for the Pacers. Under the guidance of Brandt the USC Aiken women’s basketball program has become one of the better programs in the extremely tough Peach Belt Conference and one of the best in the state. The Pacers have won 54 games in the past two years, which is good for most in South Carolina during the time period. Under Brandt, USC Aiken has won a school-record 15 or more games in each of the last six seasons. The Pacers have claimed 20 or more victories in five of the last six seasons. The record tying 27 wins in the 2011-12 season led the Pacers to heights never previously achieved at USC Aiken, and they led to a final ranking of 12th in the nation after spending time in the top-10 and being ranked in the top-25 all season. The Convocation Center, home to USC Aiken basketball since 2007-08, once again proved to be a tough place for opponents to earn a victory as the Pacers went a perfect 12-0 in the regular season at home in 2011-12. They improved their record inside the friendly confines of the facility to 55-12 during the regular season over the last five years. During the 2011-12 season, Brandt led the Pacers to their first Peach Belt Conference Tournament title in school history by defeating the previous year’s national champion, Clayton State, 52-47. That vic-
tory helped USC Aiken earn the right to host the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Southeast Regional. The Pacers earned a victory in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year, this year as the No. 1 seed and Regional host, by defeating Catawba, 71-69. The Pacers would bow out in the Regional Semifinals to PBC conference foe Lander 61-55; Lander would go on to win the Southeast Regional and advance to the Elite Eight in San Antonio. Multiple Pacers would earn postseason accolades led by Hannah DeGraffinreed and Kayla Harris earning honors on the court, while four Pacers, Mia Antoine, Brittany Bowen, Porsha Martin, and Daniela Tarailo, would be selected to the PBC All-Academic Team for their work in the classroom. Both DeGraffinreed and Harris earned First-Team All-PBC honors for the regular season and the PBC All-Tournament Team, with DeGraffinreed being the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Harris was named an Honorable Mention All-American selection. The success of the 2011-12 season built upon the special season the year before, as the 2010-11 season saw the Pacers have unprecedented success. Brandt became USC Aiken’s alltime wins leader during the 2010-11 season. He begins the upcoming year with 194 wins as the head mentor of USC Aiken women’s basketball. Brandt also eclipsed the 400 career win plateau in the 2010-11 campaign. He now has 448 victories as a head coach. The record-setting year concluded with USC Aiken having won a school-record 27 games. The Pacers also won their first ever NCAA Tournament game and claimed a share of the Peach Belt Conference East Division title. The Pacers closed out the year having won 22 of their last 26 games. They were ranked 13th in the final poll of the 2010-11 season. USC Aiken defeated the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams for the first time in program history over the course of the season and the Pacers were the only team to defeat eventual

USC AIKEN national champion Clayton State. Making its fourth appearance (2002, 2005, 2009 and 2011) in an NCAA Regional, USC Aiken – the third seed in the regional – claimed win No. 1 in the NCAA Tournament with a thrilling 69-66 win over Tusculum in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Quarterfinals on Friday, March 11. Lander would conclude USC Aiken’s magical season one day later in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Semifinals. The loss left the Pacers with a school-record 27-6 record overall. USC Aiken had two players earn All-Conference accolades with DeGraffinreed and Kayla Harris chosen All-PBC. DeGraffinreed was chosen to the league’s second team, while Kayla Harris was a third selection. Kayla Harris was also tabbed as the PBC Freshman of the Year. DeGraffinreed along with teammate Triahna Harris were selected to the Peach Belt Conference All-Tournament
team. Kayla Harris completed her impressive freshman campaign by being named to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional All-Tournament team. Kayla Harris became the first USC Aiken women’s basketball player in program history to garner region All-Tournament accolades. The accolades for the Pacers were not just confined to the court as Deandra Schirmer was named to the Capital One District Three Women’s Basketball Academic All-District Third Team in the college division for her efforts in the classroom. Schirmer along with teammates Harris and Tarailo were also chosen to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team. Brandt and the USC Aiken women’s basketball team finished the 2009-10 season with a 15-13 record. The Pacers closed out the 2009-10 season by winning nine of their last 12 games. USC Aiken’s Peach Belt Conference record of 10-8 earned the Pacers the No. 3 seed in the PBC East Division. The Pacers season ended in the quarterfinals of the 2010 Marvin Vanover Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Championship with a 75-64 loss to nationally-ranked No. 17 Francis Marion. Senior forward Catherine Cain was named to the PBC Women’s All-Conference Team as a second team selection. In 2008-09, USC Aiken advanced all the way to the PBC Tournament championship game. The Pacers dropped their bid for their first PBC Tournament championship, but they were awarded for a strong 2008-09 season with a trip to the their third ever NCAA Division II Tournament. USC Aiken eventually bowed out in the first round of the tournament to regional finalist and PBC rival Francis Marion. Despite the loss in the first round of USC Aiken’s second trip to the Division II Tournament under Brandt, the Pacers’ 200809 season was one of the brightest in school history. The coaching veteran reached the century mark of 100 NCAA Division II wins with a 77-67 home win over UNC Pembroke on February 18, 2008. Adding his high school coaching and men’s college assistant games, Brandt has been on the winning side of the scoreboard over 500 times. Brandt will be the first to admit he loves to win games, but he will also emphasize that there is more to it than winning games. He prides his coaching in helping young people develop themselves in all walks of life. It is evident in his coaching that he tries to instill the basic life fundamentals of hard work, honesty, academic integrity, discipline, and strong personal character. Those qualities have proven to be a winner for both USCA and the mentor. Both seem to be a nice fit, as each one compliments the other. USCA and Mike Brandt emphasize many of the same traits in their philosophy and teachings. In coaching circles, Brandt is regarded as one of the leading coaches that will teach his team to run the Flex Offense. The Flex is a disciplined and continuity offense that most teams fear trying to defend. Many of the ‘locals’ enjoy watching the flow of the offense and can see the play developing prior to witnessing a great back-cut for a lay-up or a wide open three-point shot for a shooter. There are many options for players as they run the offense and it is usually easy to spot the players that have experienced success executing that playing style. On the defensive side of the court, Brandt stresses aggressive person to person defense. He also will mix up the pressure with a soft zone press and even incorporate a half court trap at times. Because of his strategy of “mixing things up,” his teams have consistently ranked at the top of the scoring defense category. In Brandt’s 22 years of college coaching, his teams have reached the magical “20-wins” 13 times. Only two of those years have they finished below .500. Prior to coming to Aiken, S.C., Brandt coached for 13 years in his hometown of Sterling, Colo. at Northeastern

2012 PBC TOURNAMENT Junior College. While there, Brandt finished with a string of six twentywin seasons, climaxed by a trip to the NJCAA National Basketball Championships. His 2001-02 Plainswomen team finished 9th in the country – losing in overtime in the opening round to the eventual National Champions. Preparation is a key to coaching, and the Pacer guru tends to get his teams to consistently improve and finish strong as both the game and season goes on. As confirmation, Brandt’s Pacers enter the upcoming year owning a 95-4 record over the last four years when leading with five minutes to go in regulation. Challenging games are not a threat to Brandt either, as his teams at USC Aiken are 17-23 overall against ranked opposition. The Pacers have won 14 of their last 27 against ranked foes. A two game sweep over Division I competition in the 2007-08 season proves that Brandt and the Pacers are not afraid to accept any challenge. Overall, USC Aiken is 4-4 against Division I competition under Brandt, including 4-2 over the last three seasons. In the 2010-11 season, USC Aiken downed College of Charleston, 81-48, in Charleston, S.C. Numerous players of his have achieved All-American, All-Region, and All-Conference awards on the court. He also has had over 100 players earn academic honors as well, including national academic honors. Brandt attended Sterling High School (Sterling, Colo.) and participated in basketball, baseball and tennis. He finished his high school career as the all-time leader in scoring, assists, steals, free throw percentage and consecutive free throws. As point guard at Northeastern (Colo.) Junior College, Brandt helped set a school record winning 21 out of 22 of the last regular season games. After his two-year stint, Brandt stayed with the Sterling ties and attended Sterling College in Sterling, Kan. Brandt completed his playing career as being named a District X All-Star. Upon completion of his playing career, he began coaching in high school while earning his master’s degree in Education Brandt and his wife Gina are the proud parents of son Jaiden Lee Patriot Brandt and daughter Amaura Lyn America Brandt. Gina is a professor at Augusta State University. Jaiden, a senior, is currently attending Augusta State, while Amaura will be a freshman at USC Aiken where she will play basketball for her father on the Pacers squad. The parents also promote well-rounded children as both Jaiden (piano, voice) and Amaura (violin, piano) are also vested in the arts.

University of South Carolina Aiken head women’s basketball coach Mike Brandt announced the appointment of Jennifer Brock as assistant women’s basketball coach on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. The Pacers enjoyed another extremely successful and record-setting year in Brock’s first season with the program as the 2012-13 season will mark her second with USC Aiken. Brock spent the previous four years serving on the West Texas A&M coaching staff. At the time of Brock joining the program, Brandt noted, “ I am very excited to have Jennifer on board. She comes from a nationally competitive program, and knows what it takes to win at this level as both a coach and a player. Her experiences as a coach in the Elite Eight were a great selling point for her selection. By being there and experiencing it, one would think our players will have to believe it when she says something like: ‘That’s not good enough!’ She will be coming in with much enthusiasm and a winning attitude.” Since the commencement of the 2008-09 season, Brock has served as West Texas A&M’s second as-
sistant. She spent the 2007-08 season as a graduate assistant coach. During her four years on the bench with West Texas A&M, the Buffs acquired a record of 101-26. West Texas A&M was 26-5 in 2007-08, 28-6 in 2008-09, 30-4 in 2009-10 and 17-11 in 2010-11. The Buffs also won the South Division crown in the Lone Star Conference in three of the last four seasons. West Texas A&M won the Lone Star Conference Tournament in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The Buffs were the top seed in the South Central region in the NCAA Tournament in 2008, 2009 and 2010. In 2009, the Buffs advanced to the Elite Eight after winning the South Central region. Prior to joining the West Texas A&M coaching staff, Brock was a standout for the Buffs on the hardwood with West Texas A&M going 101-25 in her career as a student-athlete. The Buffs obtained the Lone Star South Division championship three times during her playing career, while also winning one Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship. West Texas A&M advanced to the semifinals of the South Central region three times in her career. A point guard, Brock concluded her career as a two-time Lone Star Conference Academic Honor Roll selection. She was also a two-time Lone Star Honorable Mention selection. Additionally, Brock is ninth in free throws made in a season (125 in the 2005-06), fourth in career games played (124), sixth in career steals (218), sixth in assists in a game (14 on Feb. 11, 2006) and 17th in career points (954, 2002-07). Brock graduated from West Texas A&M with her Master’s in Sports and Exercise Science in May of 2008. She picked up her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English from West Texas A&M in May of 2006.

Audrey Timmerman is serving her first year as an assistant coach for USC Aiken on Mike Brandt’s staff during the 2012-13 season. Her duties include guard development, assisting with recruiting, community involvement, and other general coaching duties. Timmerman is a native to the Aiken area. She is a 2006 graduate of Aiken High School. She is a 2010 graduate of Erskine College in Due West, S.C., where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in the area of Sports Management. She was a member of the basketball team from
2006-2010. Timmerman closed her career in the top-5 for all-time scoring in Fleet history with 1,634 points. Timmerman is the Fleet’s and the Conference Carolina’s leader in career threepoint baskets and ranked ninth in Division II all-time three- point baskets with 351 made. She has the record for most threepoint baskets in one season (104) and is ranked 11th in Division II in three-point baskets made per game with 3.25. Timmerman was the Most Valuable Player of the 2008-2009 season and was chosen to be First-Team AllConference her junior year and Second-Team All-Conference her senior year. Timmerman compiled an average of 15.1 points per game (1,634 total), 3.6 rebounds per game (394 total) and a 74.8 free

USC AIKEN A Quick Look Ahead...
USC Aiken has put together the best two-year run in school history over the last two seasons. The USC Aiken women’s basketball program has won 54 games over the last two seasons. The 54 victories leaves them one game above Lander (53) for the most wins in the state of South Carolina over the last two seasons. The Pacers are not expecting a drop in the 2012-13 season with eight letterwinners, including four starters, returning. The 2012-13 USC Aiken women’s basketball schedule features 15 home games at the Convocation Center to go along with a full Peach Belt Conference schedule. “Once again, we have a very demanding and competitive schedule. In fact, it is arguably the toughest yet,” noted Brandt. “Five of our first six games are against teams that were in the NCAA tournament last year. Fortunately, all but one is a home game. Our team will need to be primed and focused from the beginning facing that type of competition. Hopefully, our players are already looking forward to the challenge as they prepare this offseason!”

USC AIKEN 2011-12 In Review The University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball team under the direction of 10th-year head coach Mike Brandt has put together the best two-year run in school history over the last two seasons. The USC Aiken women’s basketball program has won 54 games over the last two seasons. The 54 victories leaves them one game above Lander (53) for the most wins in the state of South Carolina over the last two seasons. The 2011-12 USC Aiken women’s basketball team concluded its year ranked 12th in the final national poll. It marked the highest-ever final national ranking for the Pacers. The USC Aiken women’s basketball team was ranked all of the 2011-12 season. It marked the first time in program history that the Pacers went an entire season in the top-25. In the last poll of the regular season on Mar. 6, USC Aiken tied a program high with a national ranking of seventh. The 2011-12 season saw USC Aiken end the year with a record of 27-4. The four losses were the fewest in school history, while the 27 wins ties the 2010-11 team for most wins in a season. The Pacers’ winning percentage of .871 was also the best in school history. USC Aiken’s tremendous 2011-12 season was punctuated by the Pacers winning the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Tournament crown. The tournament crown was the first in program history. The Pacers, who won a school-record 12 straight games at one point during the regular season, would end their phenomenal year by playing host to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional for the first time in school history. The Pacers have now played in three of the last four NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournaments. USC Aiken opened its year by winning nine of its first 10 games. The Pacers would eventually close the regular season with a 16-2 mark in Peach Belt Conference play to acquire the Peach Belt Conference East Division crown for the second consecutive year. Two Pacers would earn All-Peach Belt Conference accolades with sophomore forward Kayla Harris and senior forward Hannah DeGraffinreed both earning First-Team All-PBC plaudits. Both would be named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Tournament Team with DeGraffinreed chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament. DeGraffinreed was also named a Daktronics Division II Women’s Basketball All-Southeast Region First-Team member. Harris was named a 2012 Honorable Mention All-America selection by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and the Women’s Division II Bulletin. She was also chosen to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional All-Tournament Team for the second consecutive season. Four USC Aiken women’s basketball players were selected to the 2011-12 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team. The four Pacers selected to the PBC All-Academic Team were Mia Antoine, Brittany Bowen, Porsha Martin and Daniela Tarailo. USC Aiken owned four of the 10 spots on the 2011-12 PBC Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team.
