SINCE 1965
To honor the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and those who lost their lives, the city of Beverly Hills will hold its annual ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Garden this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The event will include bagpipers, color guard, a wreath laying, ringing of the bell, playing of taps, 21-gun salute and a flyover in partnership with the city of Los Angeles. The Beverly Hills City Council, Mayor Robert Wunderlich, the Beverly Hills Fire Department, and the Beverly Hills Police Department will all be in attendance. In addition, an informal ceremony will take place at 6:45 a.m. at the Fire Department. “The city of Beverly Hills always wants
to remember what occurred on 911 and never forget,” BHFD Chief Greg Barton told the Courier. “We never want to forget the firefighters, the police officers, and the civilians who lost their lives that day 20 years ago. It's so important to this community to remember those who gave their lives during this time, and we want to continue every year to have this ceremony and honor those people.” (9/11 continues on page 9)
