CHINA MAKES BEVERLY HILLS HEADQUARTERS FOR NORTH AMERICAN GALA—The Beverly Hilton was the site of the official People’s Republic of China North American Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration Saturday night. The sold-out evening was sponsored by the People’s Daily and ICN-TV, International Chinese Network, and, among others, China Southern Airlines, South Coast Plaza and MSM Luxury Estates. Dignitaries included the Consul General of China, U.S. Congressman Ed Royce, Rep. Judy Chu, astronaut Buzz Aldrin and many local consuls general. Beverly Hills Mayor John Mirisch opened the event, presenting a proclamation of the Beverly Hills city council. A two hour program of dancers from China, Mexico and Bollywood was broadcast live throughout China. The event returns to The Beverly Hilton for the next four years.
