They sought the help of the Amanda Foundation and discovered that Pandora needed an emergency operation at the beginning of this week. No one likes to sue or be sued in court, but the Beverly Hills Unified School District Board of Education has managed to do the near-impossible: make money on its litigation. After spending approximately $2.2 million with outside lawyers over the last six months, the district can now count over $10 million coming back in the

form of damages and restitution awards from Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) and former Director of Facilities Karen Christiansen. The remaining cost was forced on the district by a largely-discredited “seismic” report issued by the Metropolitan Transit Authority that claimed an “active earthquake fault” ran under(see ‘PROFIT,’ page 18)
