Beverly High Choir Performs In China By Marla Schevker When BHUSD Superintendent Gary Woods left for China with 16 students and parent chaperones, he was nervous. All he could think about the responsibility of keeping the kids safe. But by the end, he was just thankful. “I was thankful our kids were able to experience those from other cultures, religions and other countries,” Woods said. “I was thankful the sponsors of the event, in particular the Chinese authorities, did such a good job of taking care of us and making sure we had a quality experience in their country.” Last week, Woods and a select group of choir students traveled to Beijing, China at the invitation of the Chinese Government, to perform on a show for Chinese Central Television. The Beverly High group was joined by students from all over the world including John Burroughs High School in Burbank, Russia, Japan, Australia North Korea, South Korea and China. Average Beverly Hills Employee Pension Over $3.2 Million The pensions promised by Beverly Hills to all of its employees will run to $1 million to over $3 million or more for each one, simple calculations show. Based on The Courier’s calculations, the average cumulative retirement pay for each City worker is $3.321 million. Each year,
