City-Sponsored Hilton Initiative Forum Back On After Cancellation

PLAY BALL — Last Friday the Beverly Vista Concert Choir performed the Star Spangled Banner at the Angels Stadium in Anaheim just before the baseball game began. The BV chorus performed as part of a special event, organized by the Angels, called Choir Night, which allowed the students to sell tickets and raise money for the school’s choir program.

Beverly Hills School Board Eyes Surveillance At Schools By Laura Coleman Ensuring student safety is paramount to a good education. In an era of increasing digital surveillance, it should come as no surprise that one aspect of the Beverly Hills Unified School District’s safety plan is monitoring human activity via closed-circuit television (CCTV). To that end, Horace Mann–the City’s first public school to be modernized as part of a district-

wide renovation project–now has 47 CCTV cameras installed throughout the campus. The cameras at Horace Mann aren’t operational yet. But with a click of a button, they’ll be ready to record the comings and goings of all students, staff and visitors moving through the campus. Beverly Hills, the neighboring project next door to the Hilton, was plotting speakers to attend the debate and speak out against the ballot measure. Councilmember Kathy Reims on Tuesday seemingly had trouble grasping why the original debate was canceled, continually asking during the study session why a debate couldn’t have been held with only one side present, to which City Attorney Larry Wiener repeatedly responded that an “impartial debate” couldn’t be staged if one side declined to participate.

Unwrapping Rodeo Drive’s 2016 Holiday Decor Plans By Matt Lopez ‘Tis not quite yet the season, but it’s quickly approaching. On Tuesday, the City Council got a sneak peak at its 2016 Rodeo Drive Holiday Decor and Lighting Ceremony plan. This holiday season in Beverly Hills, tentatively titled “Wrapped In Couture,” will lean heavily on social media, as presented at Tuesday’s City Council study session by Cara Kleinhaut, founder of AGENC Inc., the new marketing group working with the City on its

holiday planning. Using the #OnlyOnRodeo hashtag, customers of Rodeo Drive shops, as well as the merchants themselves, will add visuals of the Rodeo Drive shopping experience on social media outlets like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The Rodeo Drive Committee plans to partner with local charity for a #RodeoGivesBack program where people can give gifts, such as coats or blankets, to those in need during the Holidays. By Matt Lopez The on-again, off-again informational forum on Measure HH, paid for by the City, appears to be on again, although the details about where, when and what the format are scarce. A little more than a week after a previously scheduled debate on the Hilton Initiative was canceled, the City Council on Tuesday pushed to hold an informational community forum sometime in the next couple of weeks. “Yes On HH” representatives pulled out of the original debate upon learning that the Wanda Group, owner of One
