LIGHT IT UP — Beverly Hills held the annual Rodeo Drive Holiday Lighting Celebration on Thursday evening. The event culminated in a musical performance by Billboard Award-winner Robin Thicke, who performed some of his top hits for the capacity crowd that filled a festively-decorated Rodeo Drive. The event was hosted by Vanessa Lachey. The evening was illuminated by GEARYS’ Baccarat chandeliers, which lined Rodeo Drive. Pictured: Thicke, Mayor Lili Bosse and Lachey.

By Laura Coleman Perhaps the most immediately obvious trait that Beverly Hills High School Varsity soccer players Dani Elitzur, Camilla Wolff and Vivian Geilim share is that they are all vibrant, loving young women. What is less obvious is how dramatically each of them has been affected by cancer. On Dec. 1, these student athletes will participate in a very special charity game fundraiser for the Tower Cancer Research Foundation,
Vivian Geilim, Dani Elitzur and Camilla Wolff
which supports high impact research and clinical trials, and they will each play to honor a parent. (see ‘CANCER RESEARCH’ page 45)
By Victoria Talbot The Beverly Hills City Council will discuss recommendations from an Ad Hoc committee for the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) Tuesday, regarding the selection and approval of a consultant to navigate the research and analysis for the RSO. The consultant will be tasked with analyzing and proposing policy options that will address several issues and questions identified during the facilitated discussions between tenants and landlords that took place over the summer. Updates on the Rental Registration process will also be heard. Landlords were
required to submit forms to the City by Sept. 22, regarding their rental units, including the rental rates, to form a database that would help the City monitor rental rate increases. Tenants that disputed stated rental rates were invited to enter an appeals process, and the City Council will be updated on appeals and hearings as well. The City Council will also be updated on information that has been gathered regarding tenant/landlord mediation boards in other jurisdictions. Passed last January as an Urgency Ordinance, the Rent Stabilization Ordinance has (see ‘RENT STABILIZATION ’ page 43)
100 Crescent Drive EIR Shows Significant, Unavoidable Shadow On Residential Homes By Victoria Talbot A proposal for a comprehensive renovation of the office building located at 100 Crescent Dr. will substantially affect residential properties on Rexford Drive with increased shade and shadow. The proposal includes increased density, less standard parking, an additional two stories in height, FAR that will increase from 1.81 to 2.75 and the addition of a 4,330square foot restaurant that would serve the existing screening room with a total of 161,155 square feet. Currently a three-story 106,085 square foot office building with an additional
level of office space below grade and three levels of parking, the building abuts the Crescent Drive Mini Park. Designed by Master Architect Gin Dan Wong in 1989, who died Sept. 1 in his home in Beverly Hills, the building was initially the corporate headquarters for Metro-GoldwynMayer/United Artists Communications Company. It is currently used as a multitenant office space. Significant impacts include the shadows cast by the substantial increase in height from three stories, or 43 feet, to five stories, or 72 feet in (see ‘100 CRESCENT’ page 8)
