HISTORY In 1974 when Alma and Arnold Tudal decided to retire from the family produce business in Alameda, California they set their hearts on St. Helena. They had the thirst and desire to make wine....They had wine fever. Arnold Tudal, being a very successful farmer, knew that the Napa Valley soil on his property held secrets that would give him an opportunity to produce and create inspirational, palate-teasing wines. At the advice of Louis P. Martini, Tudal planted his first Cabernet

Sauvignon grapes in St. Helena and by 1977 Tudal started turning his grapes into wine. In 1979 the Tudal’s built their dream Oasis and brought to life their love and passion: An elaborate family homestead & award winning wines . Arnold and Alma were perfectionists. With the help of their three children and Alma’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. George “Baci” Cerruti, the Tudal’s mastered their winemaking craft and inspired their children and grandchildren to follow in their footsteps.

THE LEGENDS OF TUDAL WINERY JOE DIMAGGIO: Tudal Winery was DiMaggio’s home away from home. He spent a lot of time with Arnold in the winery and was a regular at Alma Tudal’s dinner table. Dimaggio was a fan. RONALD REAGAN: Ronald Reagan liked Tudal Winery’s wine so much he showcased Tudal’s wine at a dinner for the King and Queen of Sweden while they were guests of the President at the White House. THE BUCCELLATI FAMILY: Family members of the famed Italian goldsmith, Mario Buccellati, always ordered a specially engraved jeroboam of Tudal Cabernet Sauvignon upon the birth of their children. ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER & MARIA SHRIVER: The 1982 Tudal Edna Valley Chardonnay was served at the wedding of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger. These legends are only a few examples of the kind of recognition and attention the Tudals were able to demand with their wine and hospitality. These famous individuals - along with artists, writers, directors, actors, musicians and athletes- loved how serene and peaceful the winery grounds were. They longed for the Napa Valley sunsets on the property. They were passionate about the wine and the unique flavors that erupted from each and every glass. They were mesmerized by the bold flavors and “palate-hypnotizing magic” that came from Tudal’s mastered craft and the uniqueness of the minerals and flavors that the soil from ancient creek bed gave the grapes....a taste and uniqueness that cannot not be found anywhere else.
