Create Your Own Decor Now that you’ve all had your share of sugary goodness, it’s time to put those cellphones on airplane and turn off the TV. Pull out some wool crafts you picked up at The Black Sheep Wool Shop in Windsor or finally get to that hand-print wreath you pinned months ago. Be silly and have fun spending time together.
Get Your Wayne Gretzky On You’ve spent enough time indoors, now is the chance to get out and enjoy the snow and get some great Instagram shots! Head out to the Promenade Shops at Centerra and rent some ice skates to relive your days as a hockey god, Olympic medalist, or speed skater. When you’re finished, pop into Paciugo Gelato shop for a peppermint mocha or hot chocolate. Stop for a small, healthy snack at one of the shops in the area, but not too much, you wouldn’t want to spoil your dinner!
Time to Spruce Up and Head Out Did you think that was your whole day? It’s only just begun! Now is when you really create a family tradition. Get everyone home to clean 16 Thursday, November 27, 2014
up (and sneak in a quick nap) and dress up in their holiday best. Think classic Scott plaids, bows, satin, velvet — everything little girls dream of. If you want to take a more trendy approach, visit Vintage Willows in downtown Loveland ahead of time and surprise your favorite girl with a beautiful piece to top off her outfit. Just make sure the crew is ready to go by 5pm, sharp! You’ve got a show to get to.
The Grand Finale Chances are, everyone is sufficiently impressed with the day you planned (go ahead, take the credit), but when you arrive at the theater on the hill, you’re going to take the cake! Dinner seating begins at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse at 6:00pm, just enough time for everyone to realize what you’ve done. You’ve brought them the best holiday tradition you could think of, Miracle on 34th Street, the musical. This heartwarming musical features a score by Meredith Wilson (The Music Man and Unsinkable Molly Brown) and is faithfully based on the well-loved Christmas movie of the same name. Miracle tells us the classic story of how a white-bearded gentleman, claiming to be the real Santa Claus, brings about a genuine Miracle on 34th Street – spreading a wave of love throughout New York City: fostering camaraderie between Macy’s and Gimbel’s Department Stores, convincing a divorced, cynical single mother, her somber daughter and the entire state of New York that Santa Claus is no myth. Tickets: coloradocandlelight.com Go ahead, pat yourself on the back. You did it. You created the best day. The Ultimate Family Date Day was brought to you by the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse; get your season tickets and explore all that the theater on the hill has to offer at coloradocandlelight.com.
