About project I n r e c e n t ye a r s , g l a m p i n g h a s become a new way to walk into the nature which enable us to discover the fantastic environment around us and enjoy the comfort facility at the same time. Due to the unstable weather in the mountain area, sometimes people can only stay in the tent, and it could be quite disappointing. MIMU no. tent improves this situation! MIMU no. tent is a project which brings the whole sky into the tent, therefore, you can still enjoy yourselves no matter it rains or shines. Begin the fantastic space journey delightfully and Intellectually at any time.

It is possible to encounter some unpleasant situations and experience. Therefore, we collect our own camping experience and go camping once again during the project. Then, try to sort out some problems and visit the campers to questionnaire feedback by some camp communities.
In the process, we found some problems in cleaning, cooking, noise, and entertainment at night. We tried to explore the opportunities and solution of each problem with portable appliances, system furniture, and integrated experience. In the end, we decided to focus on entertainment at night by having some activities in the tent. By the way, in addition to the night, it can also provide a choice during the day when the weather is bad.

But, what can we do in the tent at night?
Stargazing ! ! ! Stargazing is the most anticipated activity in the feedback. Co n se q u e n t ly, we sta r te d to f i nd t he possibility that “Stargazing” in the “Tent” which let the project develops into the integrated experience. The project is not just a star projector! We try to design the “Integrated projector” and the “Tent”, the place for projecting, to create the best Immersive experience. Especially, we are grateful to BENQ for professional information and assistance.

What is
the MIMU No. Tent? M
IMU NO. TENT is an integrated experience design where the three elements—space, projector, and perceptive experience—are coalesced into the entertainment of glamping. We incorporated the interactive projection program into the design of the tent, making it possible to stargaze in the tent.

SPACE
The spherical pop-up tent provides the greatest view for stargazing. We developed a new, rapid way to set up and unfold the tent, which can be completed within one minute. In addition, the graphic designs which correspond to the starry sky can be projected onto the floating net yarn on the top of the tent so that stargazers are able to feel the alluring beauty of the universe through the visual interaction between reality and fantasy.

Structure Development
To prevent the shape of tent interfere with sight, the shape should be spherical. We also find that pop-up tent is not only easy to set up, but also can provide the perfect spherical surface. The main idea of the pop-up tent is folding the capsule shape into the eight shape. At the draft stage, we defined the size and the function, but the shape was greatly adjusted in the subsequent structural experiments in order to make the smooth operation.

Component
This component is designed to turn the tent into a plane by rotating. It is comprised of three turntables, and each turntable controls a tent pole which means that the tent is composed of six surfaces and three tent poles. So, each rotation angle is limited in 60 degrees.

PROJECTOR
When technology comes into play, we can explore our camping experiences in a more profound way. With our hands, we can control the star projector either to instantly change the configuration of stars or to have the stars fall from the sky. This interactive device converts a unidirectional activity of looking up to the starry sky into a mutual communication between stars and stargazers. By sharing experiences through the star projector, people are more intimately connected through the process of unraveling the mysteries of the universe.

Development
The idea of shape is inspired by elements in the universe: planet, Rings of Jupiter, rocket, etc. Also, in order to integrate with the overall space, the spherical shape is used as the main structure, and the projector len is designed into the shape of the capsule to make it looks symmetrical. prototype testing

Thermal Vents vents for heat dissipation, the design is derived from the airflow of rockets 30°
Magnetic Base Support to adjust the angle freely
Due to the limited time of the grad project, we were not able to design the machinery part, therefore, we magnified the prototype and put BENQ i500 projector inside. BENQ i500 has 500lm and Throw Ratio0.6 (80@1m), the same setting as our projector.

Detail Top View Owing to the shape of the leap motion which top face is the plane and also the surrounding area must not be higher than the sensor, otherwise the infrared sensing will be affected, the curvature of the top surface is different from the whole. The curve is close to the line and with a large radius.
Back View Such as USB, HDMI, audio port, all connectors are on the back sight. The magnets are embedded in the green part which can be seen below the main body at a fixed interval. Meanwhile, the arc of the base is as same as the bottom of the main body, so the projector can regulate smoothly.

EXPERIENCE
In the project MIMU NO. TENT, we have some ideas and the experiment ,no matter on the space or on the projection, and all of these are just for making star gazing much more fun and showing the advantages of the integrated system! The final aim is to make each experiencer be immersed in the starry star. To coordinate with the starry night at once, it not only shows the connection between stars but also shows the stories of them.

Folded hand There is a special function in the integrated experience. “WISH! It is always too late to make the wish after the meteor falls. Therefore, we design a way to give the experiencer the chance to make the wish in time. Put our hands together is the habitual movement when we see the meteor, so we use the action as our instruction and the meteor will fall after the two heads are separated to make sure we can be IN TIME!

35.
Manual
In order to let the experiencer get used it, there are some teaching actions before starting. Operate the projector by these gestures. During the d-bug process, we found the hand must be detected successfully before giving the instruction or it will be confused by the complex activity. Therefore, we added a small “alien ship icon at the bottom of the screen. The alien ship will show up after the senor find our hand, so we can give the command in this time.

EXHIBITION
The whole project includes tents (spaces), projectors (products), and experiences (interactions). Due to various deficiencies, we can only use the prototype to present concepts in the first two items. But in the final exhibition, we hope that experiencer can truly feel the ideas what we want to show that we can watch the stars in the tent and also spend time with fun even in the bad weather.

Structure
We use a more stable way to build up the tent which have the same shape with the prototype in order to give the audience a better experience.
