Walnut, Steel (2016)
instructables home page
Inspired by the natural forms in Arizona’s Antelope Canyon, this coffee table was an experimental piece attempting to re-create the curvilinear, pneumatic surface patterns created over thousands of years of weathering and erosion by using modern day parametric design tools and CNC machining. The end result is a table that is dynamic in form and function. The piece can rotate 180 degrees lengthwise, allowing the table’s unique underside to shine.

CATALINA RESEARCH CENTER ABS Print, Powder Print, High-Density Foam (2014)
Taking architectural cues from its site on Catalina Island, this project for USC’s Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies provides scientists and students a state-of-the-art facility for research, recreation and relaxation. The building “flows” along the path of least resistance and is embedded into the earth with an inflated ETFE facade, becoming a physical embodiment of the three main experiences of island life- water, earth and wind.

WAVE PANEL High-Density Foam (2015)
These panels were an experimental foray in toolpath generation for the Kuka robotic arm. The final product could be used as a scalable acoustic paneling system that when aggregated creates dynamic patterns and space.

BROADWAY MUSEUM Powder Print, MDF (2015)
This project was an exploration in the architectural concept of “atrium, attempting to answer the question: How much can an atrium accomplish? The atrium in this museum, sited on Broadway Avenue in Los Angeles, is assigned a massive workload, and even in the study phase is acting as circulation, structure, and form.

BROADWAY MUSEUM ABS, MDF, Museum Board, Steel (2015)
Furthering the exploration of atrium, the final version of this project assigns even more workload to the atrium. This iteration’s atrium is not only circulation and structure, but it also acts as a source of light for the gallery spaces, partitions different interior space, and becomes the centerpiece of the museum. The atrium is always visible from any point inside or outside of the building, transcending from an inanimate object to a dynamic experience in and of itself.
