HEMI HEAVEN - THE 1:18 SCALE CHRYSLER VALIANT CHARGER E49 STREET MACHINE -

Biante Model Cars are thrilled to present our very first 1:18 Scale Chrysler Valiant Charger Street Machine in White with Devil Red interior. This is a new addition to our customised model range and the first non-Ford street machine that we have produced. The Charger is one of those iconic cars etched into Australian motoring folklore. In its heyday it stood toe-to-toe with other iconic nameplates such as the Ford GTHO and the Holden Monaro and many punters would argue that the Charger easily held its own in a period where Australia had some of the finest muscle cars available on the planet. The Charger, like many of the aforementioned muscle cars, was impressive off the production line and didn’t require any aftermarket modifications or upgrades to enhance its style - it was already timeless. For the latest addition to our custom street machine range we have taken more of a minimalist approach compared to what we have released previously. For those of you familiar with our past releases, the one thing you would have noticed that we haven’t included with the Charger model is the gigantic engine and blower protruding up through the bonnet. We did this simply because it isn’t the Charger’s style, instead we have added numerous custom modifications to give this addition plenty of street ‘cred without being too over the top. Some of the more notable and easily seen modifications include the larger diameter chrome wheels on low profile tyres and the lower ride height. The exterior has been modified to feature no badges or decals other than the HEMI sticker in the middle of the bonnet and the HEMI 6 number plates to give you an idea of what lurks underneath the hood. One of the finest additions however is the custom Devil Red interior which looks super impressive against the white and black exterior of the car. Other additions that we’re including in the production model (some of which can’t be seen on this prototype) include the addition of a quick shifter and tacho in the interior and significant engine bay modifications including extra chrome highlights, hidden battery, red wiring and horns which will contrast nicely together and give the engine bay that ‘show car’ feel. This highly detailed, custom model will definitely look the goods either on its own or when it’s displayed with our previously released street machine models in any collection so place your orders to ensure you don’t miss out.

Biante News:

OUR COTF V8 SUPERCAR MODELS ARE TAKING SHAPE...

Exciting times in the Biante Research and Development department recently with the arrival of the 1:18 scale first shot samples of both the Holden VF Commodore and the Erebus Motorsport Mercedes-Benz E-63 AMG COTF V8 Supercars. The first hand samples of the 1:43 scale models for both of the cars mentioned above have also arrived and they look very promising indeed. We have provided some new images of these samples in this newsletter and as you can see, all of the models are beginning to really take shape. The 1:18 Scale models are quite impressive, the look nicely crafted and solid, the opening parts are starting to work well and the detailed interior and undercarriages are both nice highlights. For the price point we’re aiming for, we think collectors will be really impressed and hopefully these new models will help rejuvenate the V8 Supercar collector market.

the appropriately named Devil Red interior. We have added numerous modifications to this model which you can read about on the cover of this issue and it’s looking fantastic. Next off the rank is our next 1:18 Scale Holden HR Premier in Warrigal Black with Astoria Red interior. The response to the Silver HR that we released earlier this year was really pleasing and we think the black one is just as impressive. Another new model announcement for this month is one from the 1978 Hardie-Ferodo 1000, the Holden LX Torana A9X Sedan driven by Jack Brabham and Brian Muir. This was the third and final appearance in the great race by Brabham and the model is a nice replica from an important time of the great race’s history.

As for the 1:43 scale samples, well they look pretty good too. There is a bit of work to do with these hand samples before we commit and tool the moulds required to produce the die-cast first shot samples but they are looking good in the early stages and that’s an important goal to achieve in the development of a new model.

Last but not least we have two new Ford announcements for fans of the Blue oval, the 1:18 Scale XB Falcon GT Hardtop in the beautiful Mulberry Metallic with Silver accents and the 1:43 Scale EB Falcon driven by Klaus Niedzwiedz and Ken Douglas in the 1996 AMP Bathurst 1000. I have to say that the Mulberry XB is one of the nicest colour schemes I have seen in a while and is definitely worth adding to your collection.

We’re working as hard as we can to finish the development of these models and get them on the production line for collectors and teams. It has been a work in progress but we think the end result will be worth the wait.

That’s all from us this month, I hope you like our new model announcements and that you place your pre-orders with your local Biante dealer. Until next week, happy collecting and thanks for your continued support.

Another small issue that I would like to touch on since we’re on the topic of V8 Supercars is that we were recently made aware of some rumors and e-mails being circulated that we had cancelled the 2013 Erebus Motorsport models. I can again say with full confidence that this is totally incorrect. As you can see by the development pictures, they’re still being produced and we’re trying to finish them as soon as possible.

William Hall General Manager Biante Model Cars

Onto our new announcements for this month and boy do we have some beauties! We have been developing some street machine models from brands other than Ford and we’re pleased to finally show you one of them, the 1:18 Scale Chrysler Charger E49 Streeet Machine in White with

New Announcement: 1:18 Scale Holden HR Premier Sedan AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER NOW FROM YOUR LOCAL BIANTE DEALER.

THE CLASSIC AUSSIE *1:18 Scale Prototype Model Shown

OUR SECOND HR PREMIER IN WARRIGAL BLACK WITH ASTORIA RED INTERIOR After the resounding reception afforded to our Satin Silver HR Premier, Biante Model Cars are very pleased to announce the follow up to that model, the 1:18 Scale Holden HR Premier Sedan in the outstanding colour combination of Warrigal Black with Astoria Red Interior. The HR Holden replaced the previously released HD when sales started to dwindle in 1966. The HR featured what appeared to be mild body changes compared to its predecessor, but in actual fact they were reasonably significant. The roof line was reworked and nearly all of the exterior panels had adjustments made to them to give the new HR a sleeker and (then) modern profile. In addition to this the front featured a new grille and squared off headlights with ‘tower type’ lights at the back. The performance of the HR initially was bolstered due to an enlarged version of the ‘red engine’ with higher compression ratios, a new version of the twin carburettor X2 engine pumped out 109 kW (145 bhp). Soon after its release, the 186S engine became available as an option and while it still featured similar output credentials as the X2 engine, the new option delivered its power smoothly in comparison to the X2 version and it also featured Holden’s first automatic choke. The HR can also be credited as one of the cars that introduced new ‘safety’ packages to the Australian car market. Six months after its initial launch, a safety upgrade was included which saw seat belts added to the front, windscreen washers, reversing lights and sun visors. The HR is a significant, classic Australian road car and as such, we have worked very hard to create a model that is worthy of this popular car. With separate hand brake lines on the undercarriage and extra engine bay wiring including the hood release cable and brake lines - the detailed mechanical features of this model are really quite impressive. Added to the list of nice features are the replicated Nasco options including rear wheel covers, windscreen sunshade, paint protection plates, external mirror, front hood ornament, seat belts and the detailed interior including the styled wooden finished panels.

Overall this is a remarkable replica of a classic Australian car. Produced by Autoart, the attention to detail and standard of finishing is impressive to say the least and we have a model that is worthy of any model car collection. As with all of our models, the Warrigal Black HR Premier will be an exclusive limited edition based on pre-orders received so place your orders to ensure you don’t miss out on this fantastic model.

3 F1 WORLD DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIPS & 3 STARTS AT THE MOUNTAIN

Biante Model Cars are pleased to present the 1:18 Scale Holden LX Torana A9X Sedan driven by Jack Brabham and Brian Muir in the 1978 Hardie-Ferodo 1000. In a career that yielded three Formula 1 World Drivers Championships and 14 Grand Prix victories, including in a car he constructed himself, there was little left for Jack Brabham to achieve in motorsport, yet the lure of Mount Panorama was enough to draw the legend to The Great Race at Bathurst on three occasions in the 1970s. Brabham made his first start in the Hardie-Ferodo 1000 in 1976, partnering former Grand Prix adversary Stirling Moss in a Torana L34 which infamously stalled and was hit from behind by John Dellaca’s Triumph Dolomite on the grid, before being repaired and rejoining the race only to retire due to an engine failure. A year later, Brabham (who was not knighted at that stage) drove with son Geoff in the second of John Goss’ Citizen Falcons, but the progress of the father-son team was curtailed by mechanical problems and they finished an unrepresentative 18th outright.

BMW Alpina team. He also raced Ford GT40s in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and drove alongside such legendary names as Graham Hill, Jacky Ickx, Jackie Oliver and Peter Brock, who Muir partnered in a BMW 3.5 CSL in 1976. Muir was making just his second start in The Great Race in ‘78, having last competed a decade earlier in a Monaro GTS 327 with George Reynolds and finished fifth. Pre-race preparation of the #8 Torana went according to plan, and good management of Friday’s qualifying session, which was hit by rain after the first 10 minutes and made quicker lap times impossible, saw Brabham set the ninth fastest time and secure entry into the inaugural Hardie’s Heroes Top 10 ‘Shootout’, which took place later on Friday afternoon in improving conditions. After two timed runs (as opposed to the modern day, single-lap shootout), Brabham’s effort of 2m25.988s was good enough for eighth on the grid, while Peter Brock scorched to pole in a 2m20.006s.

In 1978, Brabham returned for his most serious assault on the Mountain with a 4-door Torana A9X backed by McEwans hardware stores and Japanese tractor manufacturer, Kubota. Brabham ran the entry himself and also contested two rounds of that year’s Australian Touring Car Championship at Oran Park and Sandown (where he won a ‘preliminary’ touring car race, much to the delight of the crowd) as well as the traditional lead-up for Bathurst, the Hang Ten 400, also at Sandown.

The Torana ran competitively on race day but fell victim to the fast race pace and developed an overheating problem. Brabham and Muir had to make frequent trips to the pits during the race to fill the car with water, but despite their issues battled on to finish sixth, 10 laps down on Brock and co-driver Jim Richards, who smashed the race record by over 13 minutes. Based on the car’s pace, a podium was certainly possible. Indeed, the eventual third-placed Falcon of Murray Carter and Graeme Lawrence started 23 spots behind Brabham/Muir after being caught out by the conditions in qualifying.

Jack was to have teamed up with Geoff again, however a commitment to drive in a support race to the United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen precluded the younger Brabham from making the trip, and Australian international Brian Muir was secured as a very worthy replacement. Nicknamed ‘Yogi’, Muir raced Holden touring cars in Australia in the early 1960s before heading to Europe where he worked as a mechanic for Brabham in Formula 1. Muir was a world-class touring and sports car driver who previously finished third in the British Saloon Car Championship and second in the European Touring Car Championship where he drove for the

Ultimately, it would be the last start for both Brabham and Muir in The Great Race and easily the best of ‘Black Jack’s’ three Bathurst 1000 appearances. The then 52-year old had been retired from motorsport for six years, but still competed in selected endurance and historic events later in his career. Sadly, Muir passed away in 1983 after collapsing on his way home from the Tourist Trophy race at Silverstone. Produced in die-cast alloy featuring opening parts and highly detailed features, this is the second Jack Brabham touring car produced in 1:18 Scale by Biante. This model will be a popular addition to collections for all motorsport fans and collectors alike.

New Announcement: 1:43 Scale Ford EB Falcon - 1996 AMP Bathurst 1000

NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER AT YOUR LOCAL BIANTE DEALER *1:43 Scale Resin Prototype Model Shown

We’re excited to present a new addition to the Biante Motor Racing Legends collection, the 1:43 Scale Ford EB Falcon driven by Klaus Niedzweidz and Ken Douglas under the Allan Moffat Racing Banner in the 1996 AMP Bathurst 1000.

spot by lap 50 as he ran out of pit sequence with the leaders. “That was the greatest experience of my life, to drive here on slicks in the wet,” he beamed to Chevron’s ‘The Great Race’ annual book. “I nearly went off when I lost my drink bottle. I looked up and I was on the grass!”

Since he first debuted his distinctive fluro yellow and black Cenovis Falcon at Bathurst in 1993, Bathurst legend Allan Moffat never had the budget to run the car full-time in the Australian Touring Car Championship. But each year through the mid-1990s, the four-time winner made sure his car was on the grid each October for The Great Race. Come 1996 and the EB Falcon wasn’t the latest specification car on the grid, but Moffat had put together another solid line-up for the AMP Bathurst 1000, which would turn out to be his team’s last assault on the race he’d made his life mission for nearly three decades.

Douglas would have a heart-stopping moment in his next stint on lap 73 when he spun at the exit of the Dipper. Amazingly, he was able to perform a neat ‘flick turn’ in front of the oncoming traffic and get the Cenovis Ford running again, pitting on lap 96 to hand back to Niedzwiedz. The stop dropped them to 12th place and off the lead lap, but there were other small problems starting to rear their head. The exhaust was heating up the floor and causing the cabin to fill with smoke, while the temperature gauge was also running high. Removing some of the blanking tape from the front spoiler cured the later and Klaus pushed on.

After a few years of false starts and late withdrawals, German ace Klaus Niedzwiedz was finally confirmed for his first Bathurst start in six years and was paired in the #9 Falcon with MoTec electronic guru and handy steerer Ken Douglas. Under the preparation hand of Ballarat’s Ted Robinson, the car hit the circuit for Wednesday practice and had a rear hub seal fail, though it gave Douglas and Niedzwiedz - both having their first race in a V8 - some Mountain running. On Thursday an exhaust system problem plagued the team and in the afternoon brake failure very nearly sent the German careering into the wall at Griffins Bend. Eventually the 1990 pole-sitter clocked a 2m17.2706s in Friday qualifying to put the car 25th on the grid. Come race day and rain arrived to turn the circuit into a treacherous ice rink. Douglas was given the opening stint for the 161lap marathon and played it steady to work his way up to 16th spot. He pitted under a Safety Car on lap 29 and swapped to slicks, bolting in Niedzwiedz for his first Bathurst race stint aboard a Falcon after four starts in Sierras between 1987 and 1990. The 1989 Bathurst runner-up then turned in a drive typical of the Group A gun of the time. He sliced his way around the circuit and, despite limited running time in the car, had lifted himself to fourth

Down on engine power in comparison with the top Level 1 teams, the drying conditions meant that the #9 Falcon found it more difficult to keep pace once the rain disappeared, but the duo would eventually cross the line 10th, four laps down on winners Craig Lowndes and Greg Murphy. It would be the final appearance of an Allan Moffat Racing entry in the Bathurst 1000, but the unique-looking Cenovis Falcon remains a favourite in the hearts of Australian motor racing fans around the country. Produced in resin, this 1:43 Scale model is a finely detailed replica of its 1:1 counterpart and will be a popular addition for collectors of the Biante Motor Racing Legends collection.

MULBERRY MAGIC THERE’S NO DENYING THE LOOKS OF THE MULBERRY XB GT HARDTOP Biante Model Cars are very pleased to present a model that is sure to excite Ford fans, the 1:18 Scale 1974 Ford XB Falcon GT Hardtop in the beautiful Mulberry Metallic colour scheme. Given Australia’s relatively small population during the seventies compared to other larger nations, our local car manufacturers had a tendency to produce one new body style of a popular nameplate and then release new models with small upgrades and modifications across a number of years in order to make local production viable. The Ford range featuring the XA, XB and XC Falcon’s is one particular example of this trend and had impressive results. The XB Falcon was dubbed “The Great Australian Road Car” and replaced the previously released XA model. As was the trend during the “Golden Era” of Australian car manufacturing, the XB featured small changes including more aggressive styling, new colours and minor trim variations. The GT variant included four-wheel disc brakes but it was the striking colour combinations that were the GT’s finest feature. The “Power Bulge” on the bonnet which the two bonnet scoops were integrated into, the wheel arches and body trim were all generally painted in a beautiful contrasting colour to that of the overall paint job which combined for a striking, powerful look for the road. In this case we have produced this particular replica of the XB Falcon GT Hardtop in Mulberry Metallic with Silver accents which looks extremely impressive. As always, this model has been produced in die-cast with opening parts and highly detailed features including the engine bay, interior, undercarriage and wheels. With multiple masks and sprays to replicate both the exterior paint job and various internal components, the finishing for this model is impressive to say the least and will look fine in any Ford or Australian Road Car Collection.
