Colouring on white embossing powder

My thoughts about this technique…
“I’m not sure if someone else have done this and I know that applying water based inks on plastic melted embossing powder might seems a bit illogic but today I’m sharing my own way to do it… The technique works and I think it provides quite cool results so I’m happy to share it with you” I hope you like it X Bibi
Materials: • Black smooth card stock (240gr – ideal 300gr) • Versamark clear ink • Fine white stampin’ emboss powder • Embossing Buddy * essential. • Stampin’ Up! ink pads • Alcohol based markers or ink. • Metallic Markers. • Sponges, doubers. • Heat gun
Embossing buddy
Simply stamp all the images at once or separately on black card stock using Versamark clear ink , then apply white Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat it up using a craft heat gun until the powder completely melts. Before doing this make sure to rub the “embossing buddy� on the card stock to prevent extra powder or glitter from sticking everywhere on your project. *After embossing you can remove the excess of the embossing buddy powder with your hand or a very light damp cloth or a baby wipe..
For a distressed or artistic look I use any of my favourite Stampin' Up! Ink pads colours and I apply the ink on top of the embossed images using a sponge or daubers.
For darker and intense colours I use any alcohol marker. You can also experiment with permanent inks.
To add accents I use any metallic marker.
Here is a picture of the image with some metallic dots in the centre of the flowers, on the leaves edges and the background. They make a huge difference in the look and feel of the final artwork.
TIP: after applying the first generation of water based ink on the embossed images I use a heat gun to dry it. The ink vanish, the colour disappear but when applying second generation of ink it will look brighter than previous application… it is just like magic! Don’t ask me why, I just try it and it worked.
I trim the card stock edges to align the image‌
And the image is ready to be part of a bold handmade card.
