In the race of advancing technology, we often forget to think of humanity. We saw a year of ups and downs across the globe in all sorts of domains ranging from world peace to drinking water. Amidst all this we present to you a rather eventful 2018-19 annual report of the Indian Student Association, Delft.

Indian Student Association, Delft The Indian Student Association (ISA) Delft was established by a group of students from TU Delft in late 2000(s) to render support to the growing Indian student community in Delft. We, at the ISA, Delft, understand the challenges students may come across and act as a source of information on any issues they may face. We also connect current Indian students with prospective students, to ensure they have a direct perspective on the challenges and opportunities. This is done in tandem with the international office of the university. We also aim to create a tightly knit community by hosting Indian festivals and ensure a lively social setting during these events for the students to have a home away from home. The organization also bridges alumni, current students and potential opportunities.

Initiatives & Activities

Office Re-branding The 2018-19 wanted the office to reflect what ISA Delft actually is (Indian at heart). So we set forth to indianise the office in a certain way that made sure members live and breathe ISA. This helped in boosting the image ISA gives potential partners. Re-branding our office was our way to show we are intensely proud of it.

Outreach From our initial research the 2018-19 board concluded we were lacking in terms of outreach. With this in mind we revamped our entire publi relations plan. The social media strategy was restructured and we introduced a dedicated website (isadelft.nl) to have all the information accessible via one point. This helped us build a credible brand image.

Onboarding New Students Every year we have 350+ Indians joining TU Delft for higher studies. ISA Delft takes it a priority to make sure they are well equipped for the transiiton to a new world of opportunittes. From answering basic quries to allotting specific mentors to help out with the process. We were in touch with potential students from early March itself.

Webinars To adress many common concerns, we organized webinars scheduled to target the incoming batch of students. 3 different webinars were hosted to adress different areas. This also served in increasing the knowledge base of the ISA website.

Welcome Services DUWO primarily has a welcome service for its tenants each admit season. ISA Delft, being part of the BASE (Body of Student Associations) spearheaded this years mission. This included volunteering for picking up new students from the airport and collection of keys of provided accommodation.

Introduction Program With the huge number of Indian students coming in every year, it ‘s more than likely that we participate in the Official Introduction program by TU Delft. Apart from the continuous support for initiatives throughout the program, we even hosted a bollywood exclusive Silent DJ during the closing party. We also had our own freshers party(Summer Dhamaka) for the newcomers to welcome them.

20

Sulaimani ISA Delft hopes to provide the incoming students an opportunity to directly interact with Indian students who have been here for at least a year. And we thought the best way to do it is over dinner and lunch! The name Sulaimani (Special black tea, famous is south Indian state of Kerala), was inspired from the pioneering food “sharing” project “Operation Sulaimaani” initiated by the Calicut district administration in Kerala. This aims to help them get over their initial anxieties and offer them an anchor during the more rainier days at Delft.
