GlobalProtect is the system used to connect to the Virtual Private Network (VPN) at Universidad de Oviedo. A VPN provides an encrypted connection between your off-campus computer and the campus network. Members of the university community can use our VPN service at no cost to connect to some campus servers remotely.

WINDOWS: 1. Access to our net by clicking here.

2. Login using your institutional credentials (your email user, before @, and your password):

3. Download the correct GlobalProtect client installer for your operating system:

Tutoriales 4. If you are not sure if you have 32 or 64 bit Windows, you can check by opening the Settings app and navigating to System/About:

6. Once the client has been installed, the GlobalProtect icon will appear in the notification area in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen. Click the icon to set up the VPN connection.

5. When the file has downloaded, the GlobalProtect installer will run.

Click Yes on the User Account Control dialog. You may be prompted for your computer's admin username and password:

Tutoriales 7. Open the GlobalProtect client and type portalgp.uniovi.es into the Portal Address field. Click Conectar (the client will remember this in the future)

9. Click Iniciar sesión 10.Once you are connected to the VPN, the GlobalProtect icon in the menu bar will show a gray shield:

8. Enter your university credentials in the GlobalProtect window.

Please be aware that in order to authenticate, you need to type ident\ before your user name:

Download the GlobalProtect Mac client Double click the GlobalProtect installer When the installer starts, click continue Click Continue to select the default installation path Verify check box is checked next to GlobalProtect, click Continue Click Continue to install Global Protect Enter your username and password for your computer Click Close after the installation is complete Open the GlobalProtect client and type portalgp.uniovi.es into the Portal Address field and click Conectar (the client will remember this next times) 10.Enter your university credentials in the GlobalProtect window.
