Sample Searches: ABI/INFORM 1. You want to find articles on China and its economic conditions. Click the Advanced tab to access this area. Type China in the first search box and select Location from the drop-down menu. Type economic conditions in the second search box and select Subject from the drop-down menu. Click Search. 2. You want to set up a monthly alert to receive links to articles from the Harvard International Review or Housing Finance International, when they are added to ABI/INFORM. Click the Advanced tab to access this area. Type (Harvard International Review) in the first search box and select Publication title from the drop-down menu. Type (Housing Finance International) in the second search box and select Publication title from the drop-down menu. Select OR from the drop-down menu to the left of the second search box. Click Search. Click Set up Alert on the results page. Select an expiration date for the alert from the Stop after drop-down menu. Enter a single email address in the Email address box. Click Save. 3. You want to find articles with tables, graphs or images that give information on the GDP and growth. Click the Advanced tab to access this area. Type GDP in the first search box. Select Image caption from the drop-down menu. Type growth in the second search box. Select Image caption from the drop-down menu Select WITHIN/3 from the drop-down menu to the left of the second search box. Note: This will find the search terms close together in the image caption (GDP WITHIN/3 GROWTH). Click Search.
4. You want to find articles that discuss startup strategies for minority-owned enterprises. Click the Advanced tab to access this area. Type startups in the first search box and select Subject from the drop-down menu. Type entrepreneurs in the second search box and select Subject from the drop-down menu. Select OR from the drop-down menu to the left of the second search box. Below the search boxes a tab entitled More Search Options appears, click this tab open.
