In the face of the goldrush towards elitist boards and the seemingly endless models that have appeared since the year 2000, all supplied by manufacturing in the Far East, BIC Sport has opted to do things very differently, concentrating efforts on a more limited range of products, investing heavily in establishing monotype/formula competitions, and by keeping manufacturing base in France, enabling to respond rapidly to the sport’s even more rapidly changing trends, using unique and highly efficient production facility.
The 2015 Windsurf Collection comprises 4 different board series, concentrating on a more limited number of models in each : • The new 240D Techno is the perfect tool for starting windsurfing, a wide, stable and light weight board. • The Nova 240D incorporates features such as the full deck pad; It’s designed for clubs, schools, and for any beginners looking to learn fast and progress quickly on the same board. • With the Beach series, you’ll find the unrivalled strength and solidity of polyethylene construction, combined with imaginative modern shapes, at a price that will suit sailing schools and clubs, and families/friends looking for a robust, durable board to get out for some simple fun on the water. • SUP is the most recent arrival in the BIC Windsurf range. Our two SUP Wind models are the obvious «missing-link» between windsurf and the new paddle sport that is making such a big impact. The 11’6 has been a huge success with families and clubs looking for a quality all purpose board: great for SUP, great for windsurfing.
As for competition activity, BIC Sport has been steering a very different course from its market rivals lately. After winning numerous World Championship titles around and after the year 2000, BIC has turned its attention to establishing monotype competitions, alongside the development of the Techno 293 One Design as the worldwide official competition race board for juniors. This has made Techno 293 OD the most dynamic race class in the world today and a true windsurfing phenomenon.

TECHNO 293 ONE DESIGN The official worldwide-approved board for Junior Under 17 competitions, the Techno 293 One Design has seen its fleet numbers explode over the last few years. Today, there are more than 9000 Techno 293s sailing somewhere in the world, with a supporting competition program that is constantly growing. The 2014 World Championships, held in Brest in France, drew more than 400 competitors from 35 countries and 6 continents: a windsurfing record. The 2013 European Championships in Torbole were another huge success with 312 competitors. The Techno 293 OD is firmly established in numerous countries now and the 293 scene’s vitality has quickly made it the biggest windsurf fleet on the planet. The Techno 293 OD class launched a new sub-category in 2013, Techno 293 OD+, opening the monotype competition door to older riders/competitors. was its general performance and easy control. With a high volume and moderate outline, the Techno 293 OD provides a stable platform for learning to windsurf. A daggerboard provides directional stability and makes sailing upwind a breeze. BIC WINDSURF NOVA
NOVA The new Nova 240 D is geared towards heavier-weight riders or for schools who want a stable, light, big volume board, and fitted with a retractable daggerboard. This board is also great for progressing on, thanks to its relatively moderate length, its reduced weight and forward footstrap positions. It is made using the thermoformed composite technology and is as a result much lighter than those of the competition. The Nova 240 D is fitted with an integral pad for a totally anti-skid surface which also helps protect the rider in case of falls. There’s no better board to learn how to windsurf!

BEACH The Beach boards have been designed with sailing schools in mind, to offer them strong, practical and modern equipment. They are made using the technology already applied to BIC Sport kayaks and surfboards: the outer skin is in polyethylene, the same as that of BIC Sport kayaks, whose solidity is wellknown, and the core of the boards is made of the same high-density polyurethane foam that is also inside the BIC DURA-TEC surfboards. Both Beach boards offer particularly good stability as well as being easy to handle, so that beginners can start to learn various moves. A new EVA foam pad, very hard-wearing, comfortable and anti-skid covers the deck. Both boards come with a retractable daggerboard that is solid and easy to handle.

The Beach 225D has the most volume, making it specially ideal for heavier riders looking for a very stable board
to learn on. It is fitted with a retractable daggerboard and with carry handles at the front, side and rear, which help to carry the board in and out of the water and are very useful for handling it in the water during the learning sessions. It is a very solid board, and with its particular volume and its EVA-foam pad covered deck, it is particularly apt for both sailing schools and windsurf-enthusiast families on their holidays.
