BOARD COLLECTION

CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE SURFBOARDS OXBOW Surfboards are built using the most common form of surfboard construction. A polyurethane foam core with a central, timber stringer is glassed with varying amounts of fiberglass using polyester resin. It’s a technique that has stood the test of time; the basic concept has been in use for more than 40 years.

RETRO FISH This mini-collection looks back on a hugely successful concept from the past. The Retro Fish has always been about making quick, responsive boards that work in small waves, and that’s exactly what the OXBOW FISH collection does. They’re small wave specialists with lots of width through the tail and a predominantly flat planning area producing an early planning, fast shortboard that surfs great in small waves. Original designs by French guru shaper JP Stark. All OXBOW Retro Fish Surfboards are glassed with 2 layers of fiberglass on the deck (1x 6oz, and 1x 4oz), a layer of 6oz fiberglass on the bottom and a 4oz patch over the fin area. They are then sanded and polished to a high gloss finish.

HYDRO FISH This year’s addition to the range is the ultra versatile Hydro Fish collection. A mini-collection of 4 boards designed to ensure you’re getting more waves than most at your local break. Ranging in sizes from 6’0” to 7’0” the Hydro Fish are modern day all-rounders, a great option for those looking to move down in size from either a longboard or mini-mal but don’t want a full-on shortboard. The Hydro Fish combine a performance shape with loads of volume where it’s needed to ensure take offs are easy yet maintaining maximum maneuverability at speed. Like the OXBOW shortboards of previous seasons, the Hydro Fish come with G5 thruster FCS fins, with an additional two sets of fin plugs that allow the boards to be set-up as QUADs. Unparalleled versatility all packed into a single board. Note: It’s worth checking out www.surffcs.com for info on the most suitable QUAD set-up for your style of surfing. Peter Hosking from the Gold Coast, Australia designed all of the Hydro Fish. All OXBOW Hydro Fish Surfboards are glassed with 2 layers of fiberglass on the deck (1x 6oz, and 1x 4oz), a layer of 6oz fiberglass on the bottom and a 4oz patch over the fin area. They are then sanded and polished to a high gloss finish.

MINI-MALIBUS Ease of use is the focus with these shapes. Gentle rocker lines with lots of volume under the surfer make these a great all round summer choice. Pick your size based on your weight, the heavier you are the bigger size you need, and if in doubt go a size bigger. Master mid-length shaper Gérard Dabbadie designed all boards in this range. All OXBOW Mini-Malibus are glassed with 2 layers of fiberglass on the deck (1x 6oz, and 1x 4oz), a layer of 6oz fiberglass on the bottom and a 4oz patch over the fin area. They are then sanded and polished to a high gloss finish.

LONGBOARDS A mix of modern day lines and tradition, the 9’0’’ is a great all-around performance board by highly respected French longboard shaper Gérard Dabbadie. The 9’4’’ and 9’6’’ represent more tradition style longboards with some modern day elements that make their ride smooth and easy. Great for the bigger guys on smaller days and the classic longboard stylists that like the drop-knee turn and walk to the nose. The 9’4’’ is also originally designed by Gérard Dabbadie while the 9’6’’ is by Darrell “Rooster” Dell from the Gold Coast, Australia. All OXBOW Longboards are glassed with 2 layers of 6oz fiberglass on the deck, a layer of 6oz fiberglass on the bottom and a 6oz patch over the fin area. They are then sanded and polished to a high gloss finish.

CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE STAND-UP PADDLE BOARDS OXBOW Stand-Up Paddle boards utilize a construction technique, whereby a foam core is glassed with varying layers of fiberglass cloth. The major difference between this technique and more traditional techniques are the raw materials used. Our SUPs use EPS foam cores in place of polyurethane foam and epoxy resin instead of polyester resin. In addition, a two pack high strength gloss coat with graphics is applied to the board for added protection and aesthetic appeal. This allows us to build lighter stronger boards that would not be possible using “traditional” surfboard construction methods for boards of this size. Extra nose and tail reinforcement

STAND-UP PADDLE PILOT SERIES This year’s Pilot collection has been refined to increase stability and standing comfort without compromising speed or maneuverability. We’ve done this by incorporating a unique flat deck; effectively we’ve flattened the deck by pushing the volume out and into the top of the rail, placing more volume where its needed to give stability without significantly increasing the volume of the board, or the shape of the rail. The result, a flat, more comfortable deck with improved volume distribution for greater stability. The Pilot series is the dedicated wave riding mini series of the OXBOW SUP range. Utilizing performance Longboard oriented rocker templates with thinned out noses and tails and a performance low rail, the Pilot series is truly made to surf. Directed at the performance end of the SUP market the Pilot series is recommended for either light weight or experienced riders only. All OXBOW Stand-Up Paddle boards are glassed with 3 layers of 6oz fiberglass on the deck and 2 layers of 6oz on the bottom.

STAND-UP PADDLE CRUISER SERIES The name says it all. The Cruiser range is based on great all-round performance in waves and on flat water. Shaped with a long flat V’ed area through the middle of the rocker in the nose and tail, the Cruiser range ensures good flat water paddling performance while also ensuring easy turning ability while riding waves. This year we have added a larger 12ft version. Choosing the appropriate board should be based on the rider’s weight, the bigger the rider the bigger the board that is required. All OXBOW Stand-Up Paddle boards are glassed with 3 layers of 6oz fiberglass on the deck and 2 layers of 6oz on the bottom.
