STABLE NO MATTER WHICH WAY THE WIND BLOWS The Fantom is an exercise in balance—balancing weight, aerodynamics and stability into the best overall package. Depth of the rim is not the only factor at play in the matter of stability; rim shape also has an impact here. The Fantom possesses a much curved and almost oval profile that blends smoothly with the shape of the tire. As far as the wind is concerned, the rim and tire form an almost continuous profile, which is why the shape proves so aerodynamic.

A tubeless ready 19.5mm internal rim profile gives an improved contact patch and tire profile for a smooth ride and reduced rolling resistance. The EA90 SLX is Easton’s top-of-the-line aluminum wheelset. These are race wheels by all accounts, yet strong enough for daily duty and cyclocross riding. These wheels roll smooth and fast, thanks in part to the wide 17.5-millimeter (internal) rim. And with durable Echo hubs, EA90 SLX wheels are built to keep rolling smooth season after season. Don’t be fooled by all of the technology packed into these wheels—they are easily serviceable. They roll on sealed bearings and standard double-butted straight-pull spokes. The only proprietary pieces are the dual-threaded spoke nipples which are serviced just like standard nipples with no special tools necessary.

Now, for the first time, Easton is making a tubeless ready wheelset, which allows us to use durable Sapim straight-pull spokes with standard nipples, enhancing durability and reducing the need for proprietary parts. A completely redesigned rim features a category-leading 19.5-millimeter internal rim, in a deeper and stiffer 27mm blunt shaped rim that borrows from our aerodynamic Fantom shape. Finally, these battle-tested wheels are centered around our award-winning Echo hubs (rim brake) or our proven M1 hub (disc brake). This wheelset is completely hand-built and acoustically tuned using Easton’s painstaking wheel building methods.

With a wider internal rim width of 19.5- millimeters, the R90 SL is perfect for road tires up to large cyclocross and gravel grinding tire volumes. The deep 27-millimeter rim offers improved wheel stiffness and aerodynamics that balance increased rim performance with minimal weight. The R90 SL takes a design queue from our wind tunnel-proven Fantom

The EA90 SL Disc combines the stout 19.5-millimeter internal tubeless EA90 SL rim with Easton’s A+ rated Future-Proof M1 hub that easily converts between thru-axle and quick release. At 1540-grams this performance wheel is offered at an economical price. These wheels are light, fast and bombproof. Best of all, they rely on standard Sapim double-butted straight-pull spokes and straight-pull spokes and standard external alloy nipples, so they’re easy to maintain and service. Out of the box, the 9x100QR and 10x135QR axles will be convertible to 15x100 and 12x142 – parts sold separately.

PERFECT DROP BAR WHEELSET Our popular mid-level EA70 SL wheelset is now complemented with a new EA70 SL Disc wheelset to meet the growing demand for road and cyclocross disc wheels. Centered around our battle tested X5 mountain hub from the popular Heist wheelset we created the X5 CL hub, because centerlock has seen strong adoption on the road. This wheelset uses double butted spokes to save weight and is finished with a deep 27mm rim for enhanced wheel stiffness and power transfer. A wide 19mm internal rim width insures optimal tire profile even for wider gravel and CX tires. Taperwall™ starts with computer-modulated draw benches that create multiple thicknesses in the same tube, so the tube walls can be reinforced anywhere with incredible precision. In aluminum the result is jeweler-smooth walls that eliminate stress points (boosting strength, reducing weight and improving fatigue life). In our carbon composite components, Taperwall™ applies more material to wall surfaces where stiffness is paramount and less material to areas requiring more compliance. The advantage is clear in aluminum or composite: Taperwall™ radically enhances strength and durability, at less weight. Additionally, Taperwall™ produces lively, responsive ride quality and improved shock absorption.

One big advantage Easton’s carbon fiber components have over aluminum is Intelligent Flexibility. Easton engineers custom-tune each carbon bar and fork by strategically adding flexibility in some areas (to damp road vibrations and trail chatter, for example), while simultaneously adding rigidity to other areas (to boost power transfer or improve cornering). Intelligent Flexibility provides incredible rigidity when it’s time to stand up and sprint, yet yields a crisp, supple ride that will keep you fresh on long rides.

TOP-LOCK™ TECHNOLOGY “TIGHTEN THE TOP TWO BOLTS FIRST.” With Top Lock™ Technology, simply torqueing the top bolts to the appropriate spec (before you tighten the lower bolts) creates a safer, stronger interface with three main advantages: a smoother clamping surface (making it friendly on carbon bars), improved stiffness and decreased fatigue on the bolts.

SEATPOSTS AND R.A.D.™ A FIVE YEAR WARRANTY We engineer, analyze and test every last detail in house; we use only premium materials; and we rely on proprietary technologies like Relief-Area Design™ (R.A.D.). R.A.D. is that flat spot that runs the length of Easton carbon steerer tubes and seatposts, corresponding with the clamp zone of stems and seatpost clamps. Removing material in these critical zones prevents clamping forces from pinching and damaging carbon tubing, thus eliminating the weakest point on a typical seatpost or steerer tube.

Based on extensive testing and rider feedback we determined that 16 degrees was the perfect balance of maximum bar flare which still allowed for efficient access to the shifters and brakes in both the hoods and drops. The wider stance in the drops provides more control on gnarly terrain and long gravel assaults. Time to take the road less travelled.

The EC90 SL crank utilizes the RaceFace Cinch technology which allows for direct mount 1x rings as well as direct mount 2x spiders, and industry leading versatility. Increasingly popular 1x setups have many advantages including weight and simplicity. Their major limitation is adaptability. A Cyclocross rider's ability to ride a course, then effortlessly change chainrings to their preferred setup is a major necessity that has, until now, been overlooked. The chainring has a narrow/wide tooth profile. Easton refines the design for larger ring applications with improved chain retention while reducing running noise and friction. THE NEXT BIG THING IN ROAD

Easton direct mount rings use a new narrow/wide design specifically tailored to road/cx/gravel applications. The individual tooth profile has moved from the traditional symmetrical shape to more directional specific design with the intention to create a positive chain roller engagement to help with chain retention, critical to prevent chain slip and bounce over rough terrain. Combined with taller teeth the Easton narrow/wide ring can be used without a chain guide or clutch derailleur. Wide-tooth material has been removed from each side to reduce running noise and drag when running at extreme edges of the cassette. Combined with additional material removal at the base of the teeth ensuring excellent mud shed and chain retention in the muddiest of CX conditions. To connect the outer ring to the Cinch interface an asymmetric four arm shape allowing for larger stiffer arms in the power zones of the pedal stoke and an overall reduction of weight with thinner arms in pedaling zones that experience less torque. All Easton rings feature the Cinch Direct Mount System making a swap between ring sizes or even between double ring configurations a fast and simple procedure. Using the Cinch DM System also provides a significant weight savings by eliminating the material overlap and extra bolt hardware that is required for a traditional spider with chainring configuration. The rings have 47mm chainline with the Easton 129mm spindle, this is the optimal chainline for 135/142mm rear hub spacing which covers all road/CX disc bikes. 47mm chainline gives full access to all gears on your rear cassette with efficient power transfer and minimal running noise.
