Mr. Le Ngoc Lam has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of BIDV, effective from 12 March 2021. Mr. Lam also serves on the bank’s Board of Directors.

BIDV – the largest commercial bank in Vietnam by assets – announced that the bank’s Board of Directors has appointed Mr. Le Ngoc Lam as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BIDV. Mr. Lam has also been elected to BIDV’s Board of Directors for the 2017 - 2022 term at the bank’s 2021 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders held on 12 March in Hanoi.

Prior to the appointment, Mr. Lam was Senior Executive Vice President in charge of BIDV’s Board of Management.

Born in 1975, Mr. Le Ngoc Lam brings 24 years of executive and leadership experience at BIDV to his new role. He has also held various senior positions such as Deputy Head of BIDV So Giao Dich 1 Branch, Head of Credit Risk Management Department, and Head of Corporate Banking Department. He was appointed as Senior Executive Vice President of BIDV in January 2015.

Mr. Doan Thai Son, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, said the appointment of Mr. Le Ngoc Lam to the position of Chief Executive Officer of BIDV will help the bank improve its management capacity for successfully implementing its 20212025 development strategy with vision to 2030; demonstrating the key role of BIDV in the implementation of monetary policies and contribution to national economic development.

The new CEO of BIDV expressed his sincere thanks to the Central Business Bloc Party Committee, the leadership of the State Bank of Vietnam and the Board of Directors of BIDV for their trust in him. Mr. Lam spoke of his commitment to lead and run BIDV’s operations safely, effectively and sustainably.

Currently BIDV’s Board of Directors consists of 11 directors including one foreign member and one independent member. The Board of Management has 11 members including one member from Hana Bank – the strategic shareholder owning 15 percent of BIDV’s charter capital.
