Indian LOVE 1. Although most westerners cannot fathom marrying someone they do not love, it is incredibly interesting to note that arranged marriages is not something which is fought against, or a source of protest among the young of India. The truth, surprisingly, is the exact opposite, many of the youth in India prefer arranged marriages, as it gives them the time and the ability to enjoy their youth without the constant worry and struggle of relationships that comes about in western culture. The west generally believe that one needs to have live-in relationship or a long courtship before they can get married to know whether they are sexually as well as generally compatible or not. The fact that an arranged marriage is actually preferred in many cases in India, and may even indeed be a healthy and happier form of love than the marriages experienced in the west comes as somewhat of a shock or at least a surprise to most.
2. An arranged marriage in India is not based on feelings, but rather on commitment. An Indian woman described it as "Here, we get married without having feelings for the person. We base our marriage on commitment, not on feelings. As our marriage progresses, the feelings develop. In America, you base your decision to marry on feelings, but what happens when the feelings wane? You have nothing left to keep the marriage together if you get married according to feelings and then the feelings go away." In India, a relationship between two people is something that is presumed to be fostered and created throughout a lifetime of marriage. Whereas in the west people do not take the idea of marriage seriously until after they know a person for a number of years or feel like they know everything about the person. One way of looking at this difference is that after marriage you tend to accept your spouse's differences and habits more easily than when you have a choice. A relationship not bound by marriage is more easily broken for the smaller nuances in life. After marriage you tend to accept what you have rather than look for someone better as people often do while courting or dating.

Match the Egghead to Their Romantic Strategy for Success While it’s dangerous to make broad assumption about how brilliant individuals structure their love lives, an awful lot of geniuses try the same five Romantic Strategies. Can you identify which geniuses used which tactics on the path to love? THE GENIUSES 1. Albert Einstein
THE STRATEGIES Strategy A: MARRY YOUR COUSIN!
Also worked for: Charles Darwin, Edgar Allan Poe Why to avoid it: It can increase the risk of recessive genetic diseases, it might be against the law in your state. Oh, and it’s gross. Why you might to try it: Look at the list of geniuses above. Then again: You’ll note that while a lot of geniuses engaged in cousin love, we don’t have a long list of geniuses who were the offspring of couin love. 2. Sigmund Freud
Strategy B: KEEP REMARRYING THE SAME PERSON
Also worked for: Neil Simon, Alexander Solzhenitsyn Why to avoid it: Costly divorce fees. Why you might to try it: It could be romantic. The imprisoned novelist Solzhenitsyn divorced his wife during Stalin’s reign to protect her from persecution. He remarried her a few years after Stalin’s death. Then again: It rarely lasts. Simon and Solzhenitsyn both redivorced their wives, while Dorothy Parker stayed remarried but just kept cheating on her hubby. 3. Dorothy Parker
Strategy C: LOVE THY WIFE’S SISTER
4. Isaak Newton
Strategy D: CHEAT RELENTLESSLY
Also worked for: Charles Dickens, Peter Paul Rubens and Wolfgang Mozart Why to avoid it: It doesn’t bode well for your marriage. Why you might to try it: The rewards are pretty obvious. Plus, inlaws make great muses. Mozart wrote his best choral music for his sister-in-law, while Rubens used his as the nude model for his most erotic paintings. Then again: Freud’s affair with his sister-in law was an important faced in his break with the “agonized” Carl Jung. The reaction was pretty self-righteous, though, considering Jung had had at least two extramarital affairs of his own.
Also worked for: Lord Byron, Paul Gauguin and Wilt Chamberlain Why to avoid it: Well, you could end up with “he clap” for starters. Why you might to try it: It can inspire epic last words. W.C. Fields’ last words were, “God damn the whole friggin’ world and everyone in it but you, Carlotta” Then again: It’s only romantic until yyou consider that his wife’s name was Hattie 5. W.C. Fields
Strategy E: LOVE YOURSELF (AND NO ONE ELSE)
Also worked for: Nikola Tesla, John Harvey Kellogg, George Bernard Shaw Why to avoid it: Not having sex doesn’t sound that fun. Why you might to try it: You’ll have plenty of time to stack your resumes! The guys above certainly accomplished a lot while not having sex. Then again: at the end of his life, Tesla was madly in love with a pigeon.
Guys, it seems we are ready for next step how to be cool!..

Out of the holiday season it's a quiet 10-mile walk from Llangollen to World's End and back, but in summer there are likely to be a fair number of cars making the trip and the lanes are narrow. Take the car, then, and start from Llangollen.
THE WALK TO PLAS EGLWYSEG AND WORLD'S END
O.S. REFERENCE 229479 SUITABLE FOR THE UNDER EIGHTS, BEING A SHORT WALK AT THE END OF A CAR RIDE
If arriving by the A5, driving towards Betws-y-Coed, turn through the town and cross the bridge over the Dee. On the far side turn right for a few yards only, then left, uphill, crossing the Llangollen canal by a bridge and turning left again, with the School (Ysgol Dinas Bran) on your right. The lane you are on mounts gently for 1/4 -mile, then you bear right — signpost WORLD'S END 4. From here onward the lane is narrow and winding, with occasional passing-places. The limestone escarp-ment called Eglwyseg Rocks is sighted, and soon you are driving along the foot of it and entering a steep-sided glen. The lane be-comes narrower still, requiring slow and careful driving. When a spectacular limestone precipice is seen towering above the glen in front, you are close to the site of the hunting-lodge to which Owain ap Cadwgan carried off the lovely Nest.
Town of Llangollen on the River Dee On today's Ordnance Survey maps the place is named 'Plas Uchaf, the Upper Hall. An Elizabethan manor house, black-andwhite half-timbered, stands on the foundations of the old hall, with a large inscription across the front: LX III ELIZABETH REGINA. According to the present owner Queen Elizabeth I once stayed here, reputedly to have a baby. He also asserts that Winston Churchill and General Goering stayed here on a shooting holiday in 1936/37. It's not easy to say whether these tales are more, or less, historical than the story of Owain and Nest!
Plas Uchaf
Signpost World’s End
A few yards uphill beyond the house is an iron gate. The lane goes on uphill beyond the gate, climbing a more open section of the glen, and the car can be turned and parked here close to the stream that comes down below a forested slope. The limestone crag already mentioned rises splendidly overhead; its name is Craig-y-Cythraul — the Devil's Crag. For a short walk (20 minutes to half-an-hour) walk on up the hill for 5 minutes, to where the lane turns sharp left and goes through a ford. There is a stile on the right leading into the forest. You may be surprised at the signpost beside it, a carved oaken board with the words LLWYBYR CLAWDD OF FA. Llwybyr is the Welsh word for a footpath, and clawdd means 'dyke'. By crossing the stile you can go a little way along the ancient line of Off a's Dyke, that extraordinary boundary of bank-and-ditch built by the King of Mercia four centuries before Owain's love-affair with Nest. The path through the forestry trees is pleasant and easy to follow. In a few hundred yards you come to a stile crossing a fence, where an older and and sparser wood begins. Go over the stile and turn steeply downhill beside the fence. A t the bottom a log footbridge takes you across the stream and so back to where you left the car.

hen there was no possible chance that a scrap of food or alcohol remained in my stomach, I stood up and flushed. Then I lowered the lid of the toilet and sat down, resting my forehead against the coolness of the sink for a moment before rinsing out a corner of the hand towel and using it to wipe my face. Once I'd composed myself a little I stood up shakily and peered at my reflection in the mirror above the sink 'Of course I would!' I looked at her in consternation. Thanks.' She'd looked at me then, and smiled again. Well, I mean - you would do the same for Lottie, wouldn't you?' She'd said nothing for a moment, and then eventually she'd leant across and squeezed my hand. 'Absolutely,' she'd said. 'Come on: let's get back.'

'I've got cancer, Fran.' A look of utter disbelief had spread across my face. 'Acute endometrial cancer, to be precise.' She smiled at my expression. 'I know: I didn't believe it myself at first. Now look through the four main types of soulmates and find the one which matches the qualities you wrote. Smart people. Highly curious, creative, energetic, spontaneous, they have many interests — from hiking and spelunking to theater and reading. They crave adventure and are willing to take risks. For these people we advise to go a bit . They are so impulsive, so they can get romantically involved too fast. And because Explorers hate confrontation, they risk bolting from a relationship that could prove fantastic. Explorers focus their energy on their loved ones.
Remarkable intelligence. Typically conventional, these women and men are honorable and loyal; cautious without being afraid; calm; social; popular; and good at managing people, networking, and building family and community. Drawn to schedules and rules, they are also detail oriented, thorough, conscientious, and dependable. Remember that Builders like to be concrete and to revel in the details. They're attracted to others who are orderly and calm, so when you make plans, stick to them. Builders are the most likely to seek a lifelong partner.
Very high IQ Analytical and logical, straightforward, decisive, tough minded, focused, and good at rule-based and spatial skills like mechanics, math, and music. They also tend to be ambitious and competitive, as well as emotionally contained, even aloof. Yet these are the men and women who rush into a burning building to save a stranger. They like to be in control and tend to date with determination.

Even in their 70s, they look like lovebirds: you can often see them hugging and whispering something into each other’s ear as they walk hand in hand.
As I was flipping the pages of my school photo album, I found a picture of my high school girlfriend. Back then I thought I was deeply in love with her, but now I understand that it was just a puppy love.

A LOOK AT LOCKS Louis XVI, too shy and self-effacing to take advantage of his husbandly pre-rogatives with the lovely Marie Antoinette, found solace in locks. Nor was he the first to be fascinated by what a few bits of metal, string, and wood can do to make a rivetstudded oak door impregnable from the outside.... A much more ingenious design is that of your front - door lock which pre-sents the same appearance to all keys yet opens to just one. Your door key is a flat piece of metal with slots and ridges on the sides. The slots and ridges must match corresponding ridges and slots in the key hole or you can't even get the key into the lock. On the upper edge of the key a series of peaks and valleys establish your key and your lock as different from anyone else's. They are designed to match a series of little rods in your lock. When you insert your key the rods ride up and down the peaks and valleys of your key until it is fully inserted. At this point the lower rod of each pair just reaches the top of the barrel — the part you turn to open the door. Since the rod ends all line up, the barrel can be turned freely and the lock opens. Of more interest perhaps, is the situation when the wrong key has been inserted. Then the rods rise to different levels in their slots and at least one, and probably several, lie right across the dividing line between the barrel and the cylinder surrounding it. Try as you may you can't turn the barrel without being stopped by the blocking rods.

How Much Vocabulary Do I Need? There are several ways to try and answer this question, but most studies seem to indicate that if you know between 2,000 and 3,000 word in a given language you can function in most any environment. Some of the better studies conducted by teachers of ESL (English as a Second Language) show that foreign students who acquire a vocabulary of the 2,500 most commonly used words in English can handle any university-level academic text. The percentage of technical terms they encounter is less than 1% of the total vocabulary, and even their native English-speaking classmates will probably need to look up many of those words. Once your vocabulary reaches a certain size, you can pick up words by context, or if someone tells you the definition, you'll know enough to understand it. The goal is to acquire a big enough vocabulary that it can build itself.
Is every excercise fit for me?
Practice in your own style One person will find it easier to learn by listening to a language, while another will have to see the written words. Be sure to have a lot of variation in ways to practice, types of exercises, ... Just remember learning has to stay fun. Why don't you try to learn your new language by playing word games? How can setting goals help me succeed in learning a language? Most people hate goal setting. Actually, what they hate is setting a goal and then realizing sometime later that they failed to meet that goal. There are things you can do to increase your chances of fulfilling your language learning goals. Incidentally, they also work pretty well for goals regarding any other aspect of your life. What are these
secrets? Two things: First, always write down your goals. Write what your goals are, what you need to accomplish them, and exactly how you are going to do it. The more specific and detailed your notes, the better. Even if you think you understand your goals, the act of writing this down will help solidify it in your mind and may help you spot flaws in your plan. Second, find and enlist the aid of friends and associates to help you stay motivated or help you in other ways.
What if I often make mistakes? Don't be afraid to make mistakes! When learning a new language it is normal that you will make mistakes. Try to practice in a 'safe' environment, a place you feel safe and with people you are comfortable with. They won't laugh when you make mistakes and will help you by correcting you.

to the Hotel for TOURISTS! The choice of accommodation available in Britain is vast. It includes hotels, inns, “bed and breakfasts”, farmhouses and selfcatering establishments — the list goes on. Stay at a castle that‟s been converted into a hotel, or at a historic country inn, with low, wood-beamed ceilings—at some establishments you can even sleep in a four-poster bed! Whenever you stay, you will be pleased with the quality, friendly service and value for money. Britain‟s large town and city hotels offer every comfort that you would expect — central heating, bedside radio, TV, coffee-making facilities and private bathrooms. There will be a restaurant and bar (sometimes several) on the premises. An increasing number of hotels have leisure facilities for their guests — swimming pools, tennis courts, small golf courses and saunas for example. Other have local arrangements for pony trekking, golf, fishing, sailing and so on. Hotels and restaurants are obliged by law to display current prices prominently. For real value of money accommodation, a friendly welcome and the best chance to meet the British, try a “Bed and Breakfast” (B&B for short). You will find B&B in towns, resorts and villages throughout Britain. Some are private houses, others are old-world country pubs, yet more are farmhouses. You don‟t need to book… just look for the sign saying B&B and walk up and knock at the front door. Guest houses, found mainly in seaside towns and other tourist centres, are slightly more expensive but have more bedrooms and bathrooms. Questions: 1. What types of hotel are available for tourists in Britain? 2. What facilities do city hotels offer? 3. Are there any sport activities in some large hotels? 4. What does B&B stand for? 5. Is it necessary to book a room in advance if you want to stay in B&B?
