f rom S cot t Bar n es : Utah State Athletics has seen a number of changes over the last few years — new brand identity, state-of-the art facilities, a new conference. But there are many things that remain unchanged — the passion of our student body, the energy inside of a full Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, the quality of our student-athletes, and the expectation of excellence we all share.

At Utah State University, we are tirelessly working to provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes. Your support as a member of the Big Blue Scholarship Fund and a season ticket holder gives our student-athletes the resources necessary to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics and to learn to be leaders long after their playing careers have ended.

On behalf of our coaches, student-athletes and administration, thank you for all you have done and will continue to do in support of Aggie Athletics.

Scott Barnes Vice President and Director of Athletics

Ways to give

Thank you for your interest in joining the Big Blue Scholarship Fund. Your support is vital and your passion for Utah State University makes a tremendous impact on the ability to operate an athletic department that is focused on creating an outstanding experience for student-athletes in the classroom, and on the playing fields. Listed below you will find various methods of becoming a member of the TEAM BEHIND THE TEAMS.

Annual Gifts

You can become a member of the Big Blue Scholarship Fund starting at just $100.Your contribution is used to fund over $4 million in scholarships for Aggie student-athletes. Donations made to the Big Blue Scholarship Fund are tax deductable up to 80 percent because the donor receives some benefit (in the form of priority seating opportunities) in exchange for the donation. You may, however, request that you receive no benefit in exchange for your donation, and therefore your donation would be 100 percent tax deductible. Annual donations can be made by credit card, check, or monthly payment plan. NOTE: Annual gifts related to priority seating must be made by May 1, 2014.

Matching Gifts

Capital Projects

Quality facilities are an important piece to recruiting the nation’s best and brightest student-athletes. We’ve made a commitment to all of our student-athletes to equip them with the necessary tools to ensure their success on the playing fields, and in the classroom. For information about donating toward a current or planned capital project, please contact the Utah State Athletics Development Office at 435-7971850.

Scholarship Endowments The primary purpose of privately funding the athletics program at Utah State University is to provide our student-athletes with the opportunity to continue their education. While most of the scholarship funding comes from annual Big Blue Scholarship Fund giving, scholarship endowments ensure excellence for the future of Aggie Athletics. For more information about setting up an endowed scholarship and having your name, or the name of a loved one permanently attached to USU Athletics, please contact the Big Blue Scholarship Fund.

Cattleman’s Club

Local ranches and farms often donate one or more animals, with the proceeds from the sale of the livestock going to the Big Blue Scholarship Fund. If you would like more information on becoming a member of the Cattlemen’s Club, please contact the Big Blue Scholarship Fund.

Many employers provide matching gift programs for employee contributions. Ask your human resources department about your employer’s matching gift policy and see how you can increase the impact of your donation.

Gifts-in-Kind

If you plan on using your company’s corporate matching gift toward your minimum required donation for priority seating, the matching gift must be received by Aug 1 for football, and Oct 1 for basketball. Your company’s matching gifts process may require a significant period of time for processing, so please plan accordingly.

Other forms of support

In some situations, gifts of goods/services will be accepted in lieu of a cash contribution. All gifts-in-kind must be approved by the Big Blue Scholarship Fund.

The Big Blue Scholarship Fund also accepts gifts in the forms of stocks, real estate, life insurance, bequests, trusts, annuities, and securities.

Coming summer 2014...

The Wayne Estes Center

T

he 32,000 square-foot building is located just to the west of the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum where the Harris Athletics Center sat. The facility will contain a regulation size competition court with chair back seating for 1,400 fans, along with a training room and in-season strength and conditioning area. Office space for both men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball will also be included in the new facility, as well as a locker room and film room for volleyball. Ticketing and concession services will also be available on gamedays.

We are very excited for our program to have this amazing facility and it will definitely help with the growth of our volleyball team. Recruits want to see that you are moving forward as a program and this will go a long way to show them and their families that Utah State is committed to having a firstclass athletics program. – Coach Grayson DuBose

This facility is very important for multiple sports at Utah State. For men’s basketball, it is a much-needed facility to accommodate our program going forward in the Mountain West Conference. It gives us greater flexibility in developing our players thru both regular practice as well as individual workouts. In addition, we will be adding office space that we have desperately needed. Both from a playing and recruiting standpoint, this is a great upgrade for Utah State Basketball. – Coach Stew Morrill

I am very excited about the basketball practice facility/volleyball competition site for what it brings to our recruiting and for what it brings to our logistical challenges with practices times. Upon accepting the job last year, one of the keys that I saw in the growth of women’s basketball at Utah State is the facility growth and what it means in all areas of building a program. – Coach Jerry Finkbeiner
