Advising independent oil and gas company Apache North Sea Limited on the real estate aspects of its $1.75 billion acquisition of Exxon Mobil Corp’s Mobil North Sea LLC assets.

Fife Council
Advised the Council on an innovative procurement process to identify a development partner for the leisure development sections of the John Smith Business Park in Kirkcaldy, involving a series of inter-linking ground leases. This form of procurement is becoming increasingly common.
Glasgow Caledonian University
Advised the University in relation to its leases of new education premises in London. GCU is the first Scottish university to offer courses in London in this way. We also acted on a complex purchase and leaseback of an adjacent property to form a strategic opportunity for the Glasgow campus expansion.

We act for McCarthy & Stone Retirement Lifestyles Limited, the UK’s premier provider of private sheltered housing for the elderly, in respect of all of their developments in Scotland, including the launch of their new Assisted Living Developments designed to provide enhanced facilities for our ageing population.
Watkin Jones
Acting for Watkin Jones, one of the UK’s leading providers of student accommodation, on three re-development projects in Edinburgh and Glasgow. With a combined value of over £50m, these developments are providing over 900 student accommodation places across both cities.
AJ Builders (Scotland) Limited
Acting for AJ Builders (Scotland) Limited in the ÂŁ6.8 million sale of a newly constructed nursing home facility in Bearsden, including all construction aspects relating to the new-build development and delivery of all appropriate warranty documentation and including detailed advice on conditionality of sale (including provision for registration with the Care Commission).
Motherwell Investment LP
The Biggart Baillie team acted for the purchaser (Motherwell Investment LP) in the ÂŁ36m acquisition of the Brandon Shopping Centre, Motherwell and in relation to the property aspects of the security granted to the lender.
Paperchase
Advised Paperchase on its pre-let of space at Land Securities’ landmark retail and residential development at the Atlas site Buchanan Street, Glasgow. This is only the second major city centre retail development to go ahead since 2007.
