Because of the learning craze of the Chinese language due to the globalization, United Daily News and World Journal cooperate to hold “UDN Fun Mandarin Camp.” This year enter into the eighth session. This camp principally focuses on designing various and practical lessons for Chinese and foreign teenagers. Confronting the wave of globalization brings changing and impact. The knowledge of textbooks and school exams cannot satisfy people’s requirements about the acquisition of knowledge.

Safety is the most important issue to children, so six students will have one staff member to take care of their life and observe their learning problems in the course. Thus, the staff members assist students to improve together.
Language leaning not only lies in the classroom, but also lies in interaction and communication with other people. Then, children can grow from playing. Following their new friends from different places, they get together to enjoy learning Chinese and bravely make contact with new cultures. Therefore, they re-open their passion for leaning Chinese!
Before beginning the camp, children have a classification examination so the materials the children use are suitable and have practical contents.Not only different genders but also the cross ages have to cooperate with each other to learn Chinese in this camp.

By traveling half-way around the island, children will feel no stress when using their three hundred vocabularies and sixty grammar patterns. Thus, the children’s conversations are not restricted to classroom lessons so that they can interact with local people in real life.
If you want your children to have a passion to restart learning Chinese, to learn independence, group cooperation, leadership ability, interpersonal communication skills, analysis and judgment, problem solving ability, and to have an open mind to experience different cultures, then, please set your mind at ease and let your children to join our camp.
The activity mission aims to encourage children coming into life. Children immediately use contents to talk with local people. While children use skills immediately, they will get real feedback.

The Secret Chamber game We specifically arrange a laser gun competition to promote children’s friendship and sense of unity. The Living Mall simulates a war in a Middle Eastern city, and by using realistic story plots of ten types of exciting and various mission contents, the children complete the realistic mission with the help of the coach’s instruction.
Exotic Cuisine Children use ingredients and kitchenware to experience and learn language in a professional and safe cooking space. We hold a competition with a time limit to stimulate children to ask the assistance of passersby in the supermarket, and request them to help the children to purchase the correct ingredients. After the competition, children will return to cook the food in the classroom and share their thoughts.

The Beverage Store Taiwan has various beverage stores. Just tea alone has dozens of choices, and children can follow their own taste to adjust the amount of ice and sugar. After children learn the basic vocabularies in the morning class, they can go to a real beverage store to order their exclusive drink.

The half-day 
 Manager After language training for two weeks, children can bravely solve different situations. Through the activity of half-day manager, children can face different customers and deal with customers’ problems. However, we do not deliberately arrange the realistic scenes because it can help children to practice and get immediate feedback.

Children use their imagination to play the role of a storyteller and follow the picture cards to say the correlated words, such as a vocabulary, a sentence or making a sound. Therefore, playing this game can let children develop their imagination, use Chinese and exercise their wits to win the game.
We hope children will not forget their original intentions. Hence, children have to write their anticipations about the future and go to the post office to send the future letter. After one year, the future letter will return to the children at unexpected time; this letter may urge them to make progress to complete their dream.

Practicing Taijiquan Apart from visiting the first Confucius Temple in Taiwan, a Taijiquan master will teach the children relaxation, tranquility, and slow movement. Through learning the Kung Fu movements, students can say their body parts in Chinese, and realize the combination of nature, history, buildings, and martial arts.

Domestic Information Accommodation Accommodation in shared dorm /hotel rooms under counselor’s supervision. All rooms have air-conditioner, locker and WiFi. 6-8 people in a room in Homey Hostel Taipei Main Station (2015 Tripadvistor Winner) and 4-6 people in a room in hotels during traveling. All bed linen is provided but children will need to bring their own toiletries and towels. Additionally, bring adapters for any electrical appliances and mobile phone chargers.
Night-time Regular checks are made by counselors. Children are required to have returned to their room by 22:00 and not to make any noise.
Airport pick-up / drop-off Service (Optional) Airport pick-up service includes being met at the airport by a UDN representative, and transportation from the airport to the student’s accommodation. Students will be accompanied by the representative to the airport at their departure day. UDN requires children’s flight information at least 14 days before they arrival in Taiwan. The Airport pick-up / drop off fee is not included in the price. Cost is USD50 one trip. Single trip can take up to two people.

Insurance We provide Accident Insurance cover for all our students. The coverage for 14 years old and above is NTD 5,000,000; and the coverage for 14 years old and under is NTD 2,000,000. You may purchase any additional medical insurance that you feel necessary.
24 Hour Care, Assistance, Supervision and Security In average, every 6 students there will be 1 counselor watching over them during the day. If at any time, day or night a student is worried, feels ill, or has a problem or question, or requires any assistance or information, they are able to ask any member of staff team, all staffs will be very pleased to provide the assistance.

If students have relatives or contacts in Taiwan, please notify us and provide the contact information 14 days prior to the camp starts. They will be the emergency contacts in Taiwan during the camp. For a better learning environment, parents please schedule a time and a way to contact your children. Students can keep their own phones. However, it’s strictly prohibited to use mobile phone in class or during any activity. If you need to contact your children in an emergency outside of both time periods, please contact the onsite camp staff for assistance. We accept no responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen phones. We offer laptop with Skype after evening activity when students are back to the accommodation, so students can take turn and talk to parents on Skype if needed.

Any question about courses, please contact us with email. If you did not receive our reply email after submit the registration for 3 days, please contact us ASAP to ensure your application is valid. Please do not wire any fee before receiving notification from us. Bank wire transfers fee (according to bank regulation) is not included in the fee of program. If pay by USD, wire transfer is the only way to be accepted. Please make sure that payment information is sent from UDN Education Service Department (E-MAIL udncamp@udngroup.com.tw). Please indicate the student’s name, date, amount of transfer, and the invoice number on the wire receipt. Tuition Fees & Other Expenses Tuition fees include: Register fee, all materials needed in the camp, text books, day trips, admission fees, meals and carfare. A design drawstring backpack. Air-conditioned rooms. Full travel insurance.

Personal expenses like telephone, laundry, souvenirs, other personal daily supplies…etc. Medical treatment that doesn’t include in the insurance: such as cold and other illness or injury that doesn’t cause by accidents. Airport pick-up and drop-off.
Refund Policy 1. For students who cancel the program 1 day before the program starts, UDN will refund 50% of the tuition after deduction of necessary expenses from total payment. 2. For students who cancel the program 20 day before the program starts, UDN will refund 70% of the tuition after deduction of necessary expenses from total payment. 3. For students who cancel the program 21 to 30 day before the program starts, UDN will refund 80% of the tuition after deduction of necessary expenses from total payment. 4. For students who cancel the program 31 day before the program starts, UDN will refund 90% of the tuition after deduction of necessary expenses from total payment. 5. No refund will be made of absence of camp for any personal reason.

In case of natural disasters during the class such as typhoons, earthquakes, floods…, the irresistible incidents that accompanied with the announcement by local government to cease the class or activity, then refund will be made according to the day of cancellation. 7. If major sickness or death happens to students’ third-degree relatives (including 1st and 2nd degree) prior to the camp starting date, UDN will make full refund minus the registration and logistic fees. The fees will not exceed 10% of the total. 8. All refunds will wire back to the original accounts of the tuition transaction. If UDN is not the initiator of the refund, refund transaction fees will bear by students and deducted in the refund.
