Biography My name is Bijoux, which means “priceless jewel in French. I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and have always felt a calling to interior design. Understanding that interior design can serve as a form of bringing beauty and creativity into the world fueled my passion for design. In my spare time I enjoy thrifting for antiques, visiting museums, and reading up on fashion and interior design trends. I am specifically interested in the correlation between interior design and fashion trends, and have since developed a blog highlighting their relationship.
La Perla: Restaurant and Lounge Design Concept
Design Philosophy
I have always had an innate desire to design spaces that are a reflection of stylish sophistication and exceptional space planning. Through client partnerships, I believe superb design solutions can be crafted that foster a sense of comfort and reverence for our lives. Interiors serve as canvases for the human form. Spaces should reflect the beauty we hope to evoke from our lives by capturing every priceless moments. By developing gorgeous interiors, each space will function as a reminder to live in the moment and soak in the beauty around you.
La Perla Restaurant and Lounge features an expansive open floor plan which showcases the dining room and bar. While the manager’s office is only accessible from the kitchen, this allows for easy communication with staff. The space planning and design complies with A.D.A codes and allows for seating flexibility and variety. Due to the fact this is a high-end restaurant, I chose luxurious furniture from companies such as Roché Bobois and Design Within Reach. The tiles for the bar and bathroom are form Ann Sacks and Caeserstone. The kitchen boasts of high-end commercial appliances such as Sub-Zero and Wolf to meet the chef’s needs.

Design Concept The owners of Fusiontek wanted an office that reflected the company’s values of community, innovation, and comfort. As a forward thinking environment, it was intended to craft a space with a balance of work and fun.

Amenities of the office include an employee kitchen with many features such as a cereal bar. Ample conference rooms and seating clusters allow the employees an opportunity to get away from their desks.
Hotel Lobby Design Concept
For this project the owners sought to design a hotel that would acknowledge the social issues of the community of Phnom Penh. An issue evident in Phnom Penh includes the inability to provide adequate healthcare and education for children in the community. To address this issue I partnered with Cambodia Charitable Trust who creates products and the proceeds go toward improving children standards for local children. This hotel will have a gift shop dedicated to selling this organizations products.
Cambodian monuments inspired bar details in the hotel.
All the furniture is a mixture of French colonial and modern style to represent the contrast of Cambodia’s respect for the past and interest in the future. The conference room seats 50 and has flexible partitions that divide the space into five different rooms. The proceeds from the gift shop will go towards improving standards for local children.

Remodel
Original: While the space is functional, there is an odd foyer that wastes space. The kitchen is positioned near a high traffic space, and there is no room to entertain guests.
Remodel: The space is more compartmentalized to allow for entertaining. Pocket doors allow flexibility, the shower is enlarged, and kitchen counter space increased.

Simple SketchUp model created to understand traffic flow Design Concept: During the Summer of 2014 I studied art and culture in Paris, France. Although my apartment was lovely and quaint, I felt it could be more conducive to entertaining guests and cooking. I drafted a rendering of the facade (right) and restructured the interior walls of the space. I went on to select inexpensive furniture and materials for a college student’s budget. The style is a mixture of industrial modern, and antique elements, symbolizing an intersection between my interest in cultivating a modern space with variety in textures, that is chic yet comfortable.

I incorporated an open floor-plan to facilitate conversation between the public spaces. The office is connected to a 1/2 bath accessible to visitors. Five Bedroom Residence Plans Design Concept The Williams family is a family that consists of Mr. and Mrs. Williams and their three children. I chose to create an open floor plan to facilitate conversation between the public spaces. For example there is open space between the living room, kitchen, and dining room, separated only by pocket doors. The initial layout of the Queen Anne four square styled house is far less compartmentalized than it was in the initial design. The family wanted the design aesthetic of the home to be in the Rococo style, so there is an overall style of sophistication and luxury for this hard-working couple. It is clear there is more formality in specified spaces, whereas room such as the family room are far more comfortable, though still maintain the integrity of the style. The duct and furnace system are tucked away behind a wall to hide them, but also accessible for maintenance when necessary.
An office space is located on the basement floor to provide some privacy for Mr. Williams to work away from visitors and the children. There is a bathroom located off of the office for convenience. This bathroom is A.D.A compliant so that the grandparents can use it when they stay overnight in the guest bedroom.
The bathroom will feature a curb-less shower, A.D.A compliant toilet, and open under-counter sink.
Main Floor Plans and Mood Board
The mood board I created above inspired the atmosphere for the furniture and finishes selected for this residence. I selected images from films, such as Marie Antoinette, and images from design and fashion magazines to capture the modernization of the Rococo period.

The twin children have bedrooms that are stacked against one another so that it is easy to play and run between the two bedrooms. The oldest child’s bedroom is located to the right of their bedroom. Each bedroom has ample closet space for the children’s clothes. The children’s bedrooms were an add on requested by the clients.
This closet contains sheets and other bedding to make changing the bedding convenient and hassle free.
Double sinks in the children’s bathroom makes it easy for at least two children to get ready in the morning.
The laundry room was moved from the basement to the top floor to make putting away washed laundry in the bedrooms easy. The master suite is located close to the stairs to make keeping an eye on who is traveling up and down the stairs easy.
The master bathroom is equipped with a claw foot bathtub, a shower, and a lot of counter space to allow Mrs. Williams to get ready in the morning.
