Lannie H o l c o m b , the “superman of parts” is extremely knowledgeable and stocks a wide variety of V-twin parts including some hard-to-find shovelhead, EVO and Sportster parts. If the parts you need are not currently in-stock Lannie can usually have them within two days. he 2010 H New to Amer ONDA N ic T700V a In 2010 Honda Motorcycles beefed up there product offering and one of the great new additions to the American Honda lineup is the Honda NT700V. This motorcycle is a great cross-town commuter with cross-country capability that’s been popular with Europeans for over a decade. It is plenty nimble enough to tear up the streets on those around-town missions we all seem to find ourselves on, and yet is also feature-packed for the luxurious long haul.
and the addition of height-adjustable handlebars make the Cross Country a comfortable ride, while the twin saddlebags each hold approximately 10.65 gallons of cargo capacity and can carry up to 25 pounds giving the Cross Country rider another best in class feature.
Colors for the 2010 model year are Metallic Red and Metallic Silver, and the MSRP’s are set at $9,999 For the basic model and $10,999 for the model equipped with ABS brakes. Thanks to The NT700Vi comes equipped with a Honda for bringing a great and capable potent, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 680cc weekend touring bike at a great price V-twin, disc brakes (with optional ABS) point to the US market! and the bulletproof shaft drive you have come to expect from Honda . Styling is much like that of its big brother the Honda ST1300 and includes integrated saddlebags and weathercheating adjustable windscreen and bodywork. The NT700V has been in the European market for quite a while as a top seller and it hits the American streets as a powerful contender as a lightweight tourer/commuter for both entry-level and seasoned riders alike. Get Your Best Deal on Motorcycle Insurance!
First, We strongly suggest that you take a certified motorcycle training course. You will be a better rider for it, your fellow riders will respect you for it and you could be eligible for an insurance discount that will lower your motorcycle insurance premium. Habits matter! A Bad Driving record will bring higher insurance premiums, so multiple tickets and accidents will increase how much you pay in motorcycle insurance coverage. Ride safe and you will be riding longer and cheaper. Equip your bike with an anti-theft device. There are a wide range of anti-theft devices designed for motorcycles, and some insurance companies offer discounts if you have an approved one installed on your bike. The purchase price of a motorcycle is only one thing to consider when calculating the overall cost of motorcycle ownership. Where insurance is concerned, take into consideration the type of Motorcycle you purchase as it will affect your motorcycle insurance rate. For example, motorcycles that are attractive to thieves because a bike will likely cost more to insure. Discounts will vary greatly between insurers. Factors in that can effect
10
10.
insurance rates include but are not limited to where you live, or whether you meet discount eligibility requirements as established by the insurance company. Asking about discounts could save you significant money. Common discounts include the multi-vehicle discount (for those with more than one motorcycle), the multi-line discount (for those who also insure their auto or home with the same insurance company), and discounts for belonging to recognized motorcycle clubs or associations. Increase your deductibles, but only insure what you could not cover out of pocket. Insurance is meant to cover you for damages you could not afford on your own. So keeping in mind the value of your motorcycle and your ability to cover potential smaller losses out of pocket you could potentially raise your deductible and save you money. Shop around for insurance before buying. Motorcycle insurance companies all rate different motorcycles and situations differently. Your price could be dramatically different between insurance companies. Be patient, do your homework and get the deal that is right for you!

American soldier builds an American dream… Captain Todd Vicks was raised in Duncanville, Texas where he began almost 23 years of military service as an enlisted man in August 1987. After completing Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC, he went on to receive military specialty training in communications equipment at Fort Gordon, GA. As an enlisted man, he has enjoyed assignments at progressive levels of leadership in Ludwigsburg, Germany; Fort Richie, Maryland; NSA Headquarters at Fort Meade; the Pentagon; FORSCOM Headquarters here in Atlanta; three separate FEMA assignments; Kitzingen, Germany; Fort Hood, Texas; and Fort Gordon, Georgia. Captain Vick obtained the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) before applying and being accepted at the Army Officer Candidate School. He was commissioned as a 2LT in 2001. As a United States Army Officer, he has served in assignments at Camp
Eagle, Korea; Fort Gordon, Georgia, and Okinawa, Japan where he commanded Echo Company, 1st Space Battalion. Additionally, he has served at Camp Victory, Iraq as an Operations Plans Officer for the MultiNational Corps – Iraq. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of Military Science at Georgia’s only senior military college, North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega. He has a Bachelors of Arts in Electronic Systems Technology Management and a Masters of Arts in Information Technology Management. Captain Vick is married to the former Megumi Taira from Okinawa, Japan and he has a step daughter Lauren and have a daughter together, Emma, born on July 3rd, 2009. 13
Captain Todd Vicks’ G.I. Street Glide For three or four years Vicks looked for a basket case WWII Army Harley Davidson WLA, he even was talking to friends stationed in Germany. Vicks never found one he could afford as most were prized or restored so he decided that he wanted a bike he could travel long distances with modern conveniences. The WLA is more of a bar hopper in which Vicks still hoped to find one someday. He planned and saved money for the purchase of his Street Glide while in Iraq knowing that it would be
14
his retirement gift to himself. Vicks loves the military, the places he has traveled to and the interesting people and friends he has met from all over the World. Vicks wanted to pay homage to what he has lived and breathed for the last 22 plus years and the Soldiers who have come before him to give so much. This is his modern theme of what Harley could make for a present day military WLA style bike.

Bikerigsht: Breast Battling Ca Breast Sunset ncer Ri
In the biker community, there are rides, there are causes, and there is fun. Sunday May 23rd was a beautiful, warm afternoon where all of these came together. The fine people at Bikers Battling Breast Cancer put on their first ever “ride”. They are better known for the Bikers for Boobs Poker Run in July, but this was the 1st time they had put on an organized ride. As a member of the Georgia Rollers Riding Club, I got to help with getting the bikes lined up, and greeted a lot of the riders coming in. Over 100 bikes were lined up 4 wide at Atlanta Harley Davidson and still had bikes that had to park in the back Learn to Ride lot for registration. A recent local celebrity was also in attendance. US Olympic Bobsled Bronze-medalist Elana Meyers was there during registration signing autographs, posing for pics, and just talking with everyone. What a nice person she is. At 1pm we all headed out in formation led by the Georgia State Patrol down Thornton Road for a nice ride that would end up at Southside Steve’s in McDonough. Gumby and I, from the Georgia Rollers, got to help the Georgia State Patrol with road guarding along with Ghost, from the American Legion Riders. That in itself was worth the price of admission! It’s not often you can do triple digits on a 4-lane stretch of road with the support of the GSP. What fun!! That new HD CVO Streetglide is a blast to ride!!
d
e Ever As we got to Southside Steve’s, the owner himself was standing out on the deck waving us in. Nice touch Steve, and thanks for the fun afternoon at your place. There were door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, a hula hoop contest, and just plain old fun the rest of the afternoon. If you missed it, please plan to make this event next year. You won’t regret it. The next couple of events for the Bikers battling Breast Cancer is the Bikers for Boobs Poker Run July 18th starting at Harley Davidson of Atlanta. Check the website www.bikersbattlingbreastcancer.org for more details and also the calendar at www.biker101.com for all the latest events in our area.

Senate Resolution Recognizing & commending them for their great efforts, and in January 2009 they received the GA Commendation Medal from the GA Department of Defense – Military Division National PGRs membership is over 200,000 with nearly 4000 of those in GA. In addition to their primary mission to honor our fallen heroes they proudly also stand in respect at the services for all of our veterans of past wars & civil heroes such as police & firefighters who fall in the line of duty. They also provide send off escorts for our troops deploying to combat areas. The PGR has proudly served the majority of Georgia’s 168 Fallen Military Heroes and recently have been honored to do ‘feelgood’ missions like welcoming our troops home with parades and celebrations throughout the state. They also provide support & recognize sacrifice to the veteran community and their families through programs such as; The Fallen Warrior Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships to US military family members of our Fallen Warriors & through their Homefront (HOTH ) Program. Jeff “JayDub” Goodiel, GA State PGR Captain, finds it very hard to describe why he does this. but he tells people that there are those whose job it is to put their lives on the line daily to protect his family’s freedoms & it is the least he can do to mount flags on his motorcycle & escort them on their final journey, and to stand silently holding an American flag at their graveside while my shades mask his tears. –Awsome! Growing up in small towns I always loved the local café. You know…the kind of place where all of the locals hang out, the regulars have their usual seat and new faces come from miles around. The Big Bear Café has been in Gainesville, GA for about 35 years, and current owner, Chad Vaughn, really enjoys the history of the place, his customers and serving up great food. Chad being a former professional trainer is in to health, so you won’t find any processed foods here if they can help it. And folks let me tell you that you must stop in for breakfast…. It’s Great!... Which leads me to the biker connection. Chad (a very avid biker) and his regulars started Biker Saturday mornings several years back and just about any Saturday morning you can find bikers from all over starting their weekend rides off at The Big Bear Café! Located a little over a mile off of I-985, the big bear Café is the only historic landmark in Gainesville. Much as you would expect a tradition town diner to be, the exterior is standard downtown neutral with a covered entrance, but the decor is very down to earth and covered in Motorcycle memorabilia and small nods to the businesses historic roots. Throughout the place you will find a great attitude and a
The Ul ear Caf timate e Biker Breakf ast! friendly staff and more than likely the regulars will even strike up a conversation with you. So far I have had coffee, S.O.S (you ex-military guys know what that is) and hash browns made fresh from a whole potato and eggs and there really is something different in their cooking. So come on over one Saturday Morning (or any time) back your bike right up to the front door and check out the Big Bear Café in Gainesville. You might just see me there!
