GAIA
.
At the core of Gaia is an interconnected network of modern systems which all work together in synergy to promote life and wellbeing in the community. Helping humans thrive in the unispecial world, you will be part of a project which helps to realize and safeguard humanity’s full potential as the only life-form remaining on Earth. Gaia turns away from the failed methods which had extinguished all non-human life before, focusing, instead, on a new lifestyle of reuse and recycling.
the tensile strength of steel, to create a material far stronger than steel itself. Ossite framed structures at Gaia are capable of withstanding even the most powerful earthquakes. At Gaia, buildings employ the full spectrum of ossite hues, which may vary between crimson or beige in colour depending on the degree of steel ossification. Each one is carefully chosen for its specific structural properties and unique aesthetic quality.
Gaia’s systems are environmentally conscious and focused on minimizing the waste of useful materials. For nearly all of history and prehistory, we have allowed our biomass to be underutilized, and it’s potential energy untapped. By continuously, reclaiming and reprocessing human potential energy, Gaia harnesses the renewable resource of human biomass. With our advanced and constantly improving methods, you can be sure that harvesting biomass is the most efficient way to synthesize those organic compounds no longer readily available in the post-zoic. Gaia takes full advantage of the absence of non-human organisms such as bacteria and fungi — microscopic living things which had in the past broken-down human and now-extinct life-form’s organic materials. Large quantities of biomass energy can be stored without risk of energy theft by non-human organisms in everyday objects and most importantly, large quantities in the buildings. At Gaia, we use intelligent control to centrally manage biomass production that is harvested close to home. Materials are sourced from a central location, allowing for easy access and high quality products. Through precisely managing the production and reuse of materials, a healthy environment free from pathogens and pollutants is created. This waste-conscious method of production is key to our focus, as we direct our attention on combating human-centered illnesses such as cancer and aging. (For further reading on Gaia’s unique bioharvest process, refer to the page 10)
Material Genius
Structures at Gaia are designed to a high standard of safety and reliability. The built environment uses state-of-the-art composite materials engineered to maximize strength and performance, so you can live comfortably and worry free. Our team of engineers are constantly working to improve upon past methods and innovate through continual research. Carnite, a biologically reinforced tissue and concrete composite, is used and locally produced at Gaia. Form-poured carnite, as well as precast carnite panels technology are used throughout Gaia to create walls which not only durable and efficient, but also aesthetically pleasing. The excellent insulative properties of Carnite-based wall assemblies make buildings at Gaia energy efficiency and comfortable all year round. Ossite combines the molecular strength of bone with
These two structural materials are combined with a wide range of bioplastics synthesized from bioharvested and more rarely, mined fossil biomass. Use of these revolutionary materials have matured to fully replace Phanerozoic biomaterials such as wood, a light-weight porous and fibrous material, whose preserved supplies are now depleted. At Gaia there are several industries dedicated to processing new biomaterials into usable products such as furniture, cloths and other everyday products. The biomass stored in buildings also provides energy in the case of emergency. This means added security in the event of a disaster. Any stored biomass can be easily converted back to other forms of energy such as heat, electricity or calories. Natural building materials Gravel and sand are easily sourced from nearby mines, but steel is imported from other Borealian communities.
Deeply Powered
Gaia’s unique geological setting allows her to take advantage of an almost limitless supply of free energy, sealed just below your feet. Geothermal energy is a sustainable and renewable source from the planet’s inner core. A central plant uses deep wells to collect steam and heat to produce electricity, while shallower systems use the fairly even temperatures underground year-round to heat and cool the buildings at Gaia, maintaining a comfortable homeostasis throughout the community. In addition to these powerful geothermal systems, seamlessly integrated solar and wind systems supplement each building’s individual energy needs. The abundant supply of geothermal energy means that at Gaia, unlike in other communities, biomass is almost never burned to generate electricity: the air quality and respiratory health of residents benefit greatly.
Development Team
At the heart of our vision to transform what was once inhospitable mountainscape into a technologically progressive and master-planned community is the Gaia development team. Our forward-looking team includes a roster of first-class designers and industry specialists, all committed to directing the realization and maintenance of architectural excellence at Gaia. The winner of this duel is reintegrated into society, while the defeated contestant is liquidated. Apart from this ritual, other community events and gatherings are held at Hæma Stadium. These events consists of plays, community meetings and sporting events, making the stadium a meaningful part of society in Gaia.
Center for Zoic History
The Zoic Center is a spectacular venue to explore the strange world of the Zoic period, when humans lived alongside a diverse world of living things in dynamic environments called “ecosystems”. Beyond the museum’s impressive collection of artifacts from the Phanerozoic, it is a catalyst and ongoing incubator for scientific advancement, dedicated to expanding our understanding of natural history and humanity’s relationship to the natural world. The center is a great way to get in touch with your natural surroundings and our geological past.
Valetudinary
Citizens health at Gaia is entrusted to the Lake Thalassa Valetudinary, which is centrally located and provides for its patients some of the best care among Valetudinaries in Borealia. In a world without parasites, medical care is limited to injuries and treatment of cancer. Lake Thalassa Valetudinary also specializes in rehabilitation for the injured and palliative care. The Lake Thalassa labs are also leaders in cancer research and the the ongoing battle against aging. Developing technologies include organ replacement and new cloning techniques, which could have immense social implications in Gaia, and Borealia. When a resident passes away, we make sure they are given a proper passage into repurposing as decided by their family. Depending on the type of the repurposing, chosen by the family of the deceased, the body is transported to one of our world class facilities. From here, the body is used to benefit the needs of society.

MOTHER At the center of Gaia is Mother. Located on a reclaimed island in the middle of Lake Thalassa, the complex mechanisms of Mother are concealed in a large sphere that is the Centerpiece of Gaia. When arriving from one of the surrounding shores of public space, you will often find children flying kites in the open and airy park space around it.
New Generations
Parallel projects in other parts of Borealia, most notably at Tellus and Bhumi have demonstrated the transformative success of the Integrated Jocasta Process. This process is perfected at Gaia. The biocrop yields are maximized and the oppressive biological burdens of pregnancy and childbirth are carried by specialized machines, liberating women to participate fully in the egalitarian society. Like in primitive human reproduction, the Integrated Jocasta Process begins with a man and a woman. The couple each contribute their gametes, and The Demeter Intelligence employs selective gamete combination to select for desirable traits among a couple’s gametes, while the remaining gametes are stored to synthesize genetically optimized biocrops. This ingenious process means that at Gaia, residents can more easily avoid immoral acts of bringing up a potentially genetically deformed child to life, and tainting the gene pool with a subpar sample. The optimal combination of gametes are fertilized into an embryo which is moved to specialized incubators where the fœtus develops in a highly controlled environment with minimized risk of genetic deformities and maximized health. Within the simulated womb environment, the developing fetus grows from a specialized blend of nutrients and precise stimuli. Constant monitoring development allows the perfect control of the process. After 9 months of rigorous attention, the child is born.
Bountiful Harvests
Biocrops are grown within Mother and planted at a specific location depending the biocrop strain. From here, a blend of fertilizer and energy is injected directly into the growing crops, to increase their rate of development. The biocrop also directly fed minerals as well as carbon extracted directly from the atmosphere. Once the crop has grown, it is aborted and the harvest is complete. At Gaia, we have pioneered technology to abort biocrop at specific stages of development depending to maximize the quality of certain tissues. Before the biomass can be distributed to the surrounding factories, they are first processed and inspected at Mother to assure topnotch quality, then separated into useful categories and units of tissue. From there, the tissues can be processed into all varieties of everyday products, from food to clothes and building materials. Below Mother is a sequence of supporting infrastructure which helps manage and regulate harvests at Gaia, preparing the resources for transport to the outlying factories. This infrastructure consists of various laboratories, mechanical systems and temporary storage facilities.
LIVE Housing at Gaia elevates everyday living to luxury. Each complex at Gaia begins with the structural power of braced ossite frames which combine the dignified appearance of marble with durability of ossite steel. The repeating columns and cross-bracing meld together to fashion a form flowing with rhythmic motive. Not only is this system easy to expanded upon up and out simply by expanding the frame, but it This exposed skeleton frame is thoughtfully punctuated by precast carnite dwellings placed within. Surrounding these units are a multifaceted arrangement of terraces and community spaces for shared amenities. Step into one of our light drenched and luxurious interiors. Brilliant floor-to-ceiling windows in each residence give awesome views into surrounding landscape into the Lake, and onto Mother in the center. Polished carnite floors are easy to keep clean, giving interiors a refined finished without sacrificing convenience or efficient performance. Altogether these complexes form a rich symphony of architectural details which dance boldly along the lake-side topography, all connected by a network of lively alleys. There is a large public square for each cluster of houses and ample public spaces between buildings. Homes at Gaia provides truly unrivalled comfort.

Your contributions will always be appreciated, so you can be sure that you can leave a lasting legacy. All jobs at Gaia are essential and elevating, as well as varied and diverse. The jobs that one can pursue at Gaia range from industrial and laboratory work to vendors and operating venues. Maintaining and operating venues is a key element to preserving the interconnecting relationships of the various neighbourhoods in Gaia. Vendors also play a key role in the society by providing affordable high standard products to all members of the society. The location of the markets further connects the community, as the major routes towards the center of the city, are populated with these places of retail. Finally, scientists and laboratory technicians perform invaluable research which drives the progress of Gaia and improves the overall quality of life.
The Factory
Our laborers and machines work hard to maintain the energy equilibrium which exists at Gaia. Factory labors help process raw materials from the earth and biomass into useful products for everyday use. Raw earth materials come from satellite mining outposts while biomass arrives regularly from Mother. Loads of materials are transported to function specific factories to be processed into usable objects. Raw materials are combined with chemicals to create materials with stronger durability for a variety of uses. The uses include building materials, clothing and textiles, furniture, etc. With this process, simple raw materials can be incorporated to make a variety of products.
The Filmmaker
Few Boreal directors have as masterful command of the medium of film as Gaia’s Myron Haimops. In his four decades of work, he has produced an immense portfolio of cinematic masterpieces ranging from narrowly focused “South Stream” to the panoramic “Dreams on the River Scamander”. In his most recent work “Vale” Haimops uses a large canvas to paint a story that is both intimate and visceral in emotion. A personal epic set in the beginning of the Anthropozoic eon, it centers on a young American woman, Jena, who had worked as a nurse, as humanity was emerging and adapting to the new environment. From a single woman, Haimops unravels an expansive and emotional portrait of a world in transition, beset on all side by forces of extreme violence and internal strife. This deeply spiritual film is a meditation on old Boreal spirituality. “Vale” takes cues from traditional Boreal myths of the reincarnation:
that a soul would be reborn into a cycle of either a working to produce biomass or to maintain the society. A highly nuanced exploration of our cultural and legendary past when biomass was harvested from the general population from people who had led real lives. A series of catastrophes slowly upends the stability of the world and Jena’s community is face with liquidation by Boreal powers. Jena works to preserve the ancient spirituality of subjugated Americans communities. There is also an earthquake, shattered dreams, betrayal and a pregnancy. Haimops wrote, as well as edited “Vale”, with his cinematic vision and was inspired by the painting “iamque vale” by pre-Boreal painter, Edward Z.W. Xin. It is a marked critique of the modern abortive technique of biomass harvest, which Haimops contends lacks “metaphysical sensitivity and devoid of the spiritual dimensions as in the past”. A Refreshing perspective on the history of society. ---
