How Does SEP Work? The employer will receive a monthly subsidy of $700 for hiring a full-time employee - 30 or more hours per week. The employer will receive a monthly subsidy of $400 per month for hiring a part-time employee - minimum of 20 hours per week and less than 30 hours per week. The participant must work a minimum of two weeks in a month for an employer to receive a subsidy for that month. The program is limited to six months and ends September 30, 2013 or as until funding is no longer available.
By Subsidizing Salaries, SEP Employers Can: • Increase company’s workforce • Hire and train the subsidized employee at a reduced cost to the company
Who is Eligible?

The following criteria must be met to be eligible: • The job must be permanent full-time or part-time employment. • The participant must be TANF eligible.* • The participant shall be paid the same rate as other employees doing similar work. • The participant shall be entitled to the same employment benefits as other regular employees of the employer. • SCJFS, employer and participant shall enter into a written contract.

*To be eligible, the hired individual must have income at or below 200 percent of the poverty level and have a minor child. A non-custodial parent can also be eligible with the same income criteria.
