As summer begins to wind down, it’s time for the annual Yellowstone River Duck Festival, known locally as “Duck Days.” This event takes place on Saturday, August 20 and combines a parade, sidewalk sales, a car show, motorcycle rally, and various other events. It’s topped off with a rubber duck race on the Yellowstone River — adopt your duck at many Forsyth businesses for $10 during the months of July and August, and then root for your duck to float across the finish line first. If your duck is among the fastest, you can win a grand prize of up to $1000. Various smaller prizes are awarded to runnerup ducks too. The funds will be used to support Chamber activities throughout the year. Race results will be posted at First State Bank and all bars prior to the street dance. After the race, it’s time to head to downtown Forsyth for the parade at 12 p.m. Following the parade will be bed races and a car show on Main Street. From 2 to 5 p.m., the Chamber will host Bingo, bag toss, and a free BBQ following bed races in the First Interstate Bank parking lot. Get your dancing shoes on and attend the street dance downtown at 8 p.m. featuring live music, great food, beer gardens and plenty of old-fashioned fun. Bring the whole family to the event and enjoy a great day of chamber sponsored fun. For more information, email the Chamber at forsythchamber@yahoo.com or call Participants will vie for cash prizes during the annual Duck Days event on Saturday, 406-347-5656. August 20.

When Angella Dickinson put out the word that her women’s clothing store, Style Alley, would be opening their doors shoppers showed up in droves. With the nearest women’s apparel 40 miles away, women were anxiously waiting for the day her doors opened in Forsyth. “It was wonderful,” Dickinson said of her opening. “Everyone was so excited to have a women’s clothing store. Who knew I was filling a need in the community.” For over two decades Dickinson lived in the hustle and bustle of Denver, Colorado’s fast-paced metropolitan lifestyle – eventually, she decided it was time for a change. Dickinson decided it was time to take her lifelong dream of owning a fashion business off the back burner and thrust herself 183 N 9th Avenue into the pursuit of entrepreneurForsyth, MT ship. 406-346-2559 “I just decided I wanted a betHours ter way of life. Then one day, I saw a listing for commercial property Tue. - Sat.: in Forsyth – it was the Indepen10 a.m. to 6 p.m. dent Press. I guess in a way, Forsyth called me home.” Wanting to transform her life, Dickinson made a decision to face the challenge head-on and fast forward. And fast it was! “I first looked at the building in May for the first time. I made an offer in July, we closed in September and demo began two days later,” Dickinson said. Dickinson has invested everything she has built over the past 20 years and when the railroad pulled out of Forsyth, she was a little scared. “I had to stop and take a step back and look at the whole picture. I realized, the staples of the community were still here. We have the hospital, school district and a beautiful pool.” Dickinson went ahead with her plans. “I took a large chance but I believed Forsyth would support a small business – so I sold my condo in Denver. I took every cent and invested in a business in Forsyth.” She opened her new business in November inside the

old Independent Press newspaper office. It had been a dream of hers since working in the style industry for over 20 years. She renovated the back of the old newspaper office and opened as a combination women’s boutique (with clothing and jewelry) and hair salon. She’s also planning to add skin care soon. Dickinson had a vision to make a change in her life. She took a roll of the dice and made the move. She is still working on making all her dreams a reality, but she isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty or her nails chipped to make them happen. She is also hoping her courage will inspire other women to do the same and make their dream a reality too.

Matthew Quigley Buffalo Rifle Match
The Matthew Quigley Buffalo Rifle Match takes place Saturday, June 18—Sunday, June 19. Visit www.quigleymatch.com for more information.
The 25th Annual Matthew Quigley Buffalo Rifle Match takes place just north of Forsyth each Father’s Day weekend. This event, the largest of its kind in the world, draws shooters from all 50 states and several other countries. It’s a great event for spectators, too, so don’t feel like you have to participate to join in the fun. Just watching is a good time in itself. Take note, though: if you’re coming to town for this particular weekend, you’ll need to make reservations early.
Rosebud County Fair July 21-24, 2016 In July, the area’s biggest event, the Rosebud-Treasure County Fair, takes center stage. Big-name entertainment, a free stage, 4H and open class exhibits, and a first-class carnival combine to make a great time for all. Of course there’s plenty of “fair food” available, and we also have one of the few fairs that has free gate admission, and to top it off, there’s no charge for parking!
Oktoberfest This autumn event for the Chamber was a great success in 2015 and surpassed everyone’s expectations. Join us this year at Marcey’s Park on Saturday, October 8 at 2 p.m. for polka music, brats, German games and a costume contest. Craft beers will also be featured from local breweries.
