Kids During The Holocaust

WHAT IS THE HOLOCAUST? When was the Holocaust? Who created the Holocaust?

CONCENTRATION CAMPS What were concentration camps? Who ran the concentration camps?

A KIDS LIFE IN THE HOLOCAUST? What role did kids play in the Holocaust?

What was the Holocaust? Between the years 1933 and 1945, people of the Jewish religion forced to live in concentration camps around Europe by Nazis, German soldiers. During this time, Germany was ran by Adolf Hitler, a German dictator who was convinced that the Jewish people were responsible for the downfall of Germany. A total estimate of 6 million people died from the cruel times of Nazi Germany. The holocaust was a tragic time for Jewish kids because they witnessed hundreds of deaths and many of them had multiple family members killed. They had to be moved to many different locations such as concentration camps and ghettos as well.

Concentration Camps Jewish people were sent to concentration camps to be tortured or killed. They would stay there for the holocaust endless they were killed. Jewish people in concentration camps and ghettos were known as prisoners there and had to work hard everyday. “Some are cleaning, some are cooking, some are sewing. All of them are supervised by Nazi officers who will not let them take a break and stretch their legs.” pg.44. The concentration camps were kept in harsh conditions and usually carried diseases.

A Kids Life In The Holocaust Jewish kids would be stolen from their homes and sent to concentration camps. They would separate the kids from the parents so the kids couldn't see anybody from their families. It was very easy to separate the kids from their families and friends because during the time of the holocaust, there were over 40,000 concentration camps!!! The german officers could just take a kid out of their house and put it them in a concentration camp and their parents couldn't do anything about it. Their soldiers there were stronger than every single jew together, so there was almost no way to overrule the germans. In the novel “number the stars” the nazis are invading and annemarie's dad explains; “They plan to arrest all danish jews. They plan to take them away. And we have been told they will come tonight.” The evidence supports my analysis because it relates to how the soldiers can take anybody they want, and it gives evidence. Kids had to do work in the concentration camps although not as much as adults. Children often died due to starvation or disease in the ghettos and concentration camps. 1.5 million jewish kids were killed during the holocaust if they were over the age of 12 were used as lab subjects. It was a very serious matter because those who were not forced to work, were killed. Many children had family members get killed, even sometimes right before their eyes. The Holocaust was a very disturbing time in history because kids were taken from their homes, families, and friends, jews were sent to concentration camps and ghettos where they would most likely die, and it ended with the nazis taking over the entire nation. The nazis were able to take childs from their homes, and take over many many countries because they were strongly organized, and because they were larger in size, and had the ability to kill anyone they wanted. Most people would die in concentration camps from diseases, starvation, or could freeze to death because they did not have the materials they had to survive.
