Domain Name Industry Key Facts: Our research shows, that the market growth for gTLDs continued to follow an upward trend in 2014 and 2015. The first quarter of 2015 closed with a base of 294 million domain name registrations across all toplevel domains (TLDs). Registrations have grown by 6.5 percent, year over year. The .com and .net TLDs experienced aggregate growth, reaching a combined total of approximately 133 million domain names in the first quarter of 2015. Over 8.7 million new .com and .net domain names have been registered in the first quarter of 2015. Total ccTLD registrations were approximately 132.1 million in the third quarter of 2014. This is an increase of approximately 12.8 million domain names, or 10.7 percent from a year ago.
