01 Hydropark In a transfor mative jour ney through time, water, once a mere byproduct of mining endeavors on Elba island has evolved into a pivotal resorce today. Shifting from a historical role of incidental excess to a contemporary lifeline, fresh water now stands as one of the most significant and precious commodities on the island. Hydropark draws inspiration from this metaphosis, embracing the ethos of recycling and reutilizing this once overlooked resource. In crafting the vision, the project seek not only to honor the island's past but to forge a sustainable and harmonious future where the irreplaceable essence of water becomes a central element in the architectural narrative. In order to achieve this goal, the project introduced the Greywater Filtration System, wetland, and spring area to create an harmonious and sustainable project.

Let A Sculpture Be A Sculpture The project restores the essence of Baynard House: let a sculpture be a sculpture. Through designing seams that are created by individual plates, people’s curiosity is triggered as they visually see the seam and are able to physically access it. In order to keep the privacy of BT company, the renovation only happen in the courtyard level which was broke through, the solid upper levels remain. The openness of courtyard level becomes the transition from the large staircase in the front to the outside courtyard, and then to the interior playful public space. A large seam is born. The seam language extends to smaller scale design as well. The way we design the walls surrounding the playground is the representation of the idea that a seam is created between plates. We designed walls that have different gaps allowing people to look through and physically enter through. Moveable plates on the ground are inspired by the bricks on the ground that are loosen and spit water on rainy days. When the seam is no longer pasted to the plates, it becomes playful and interesting to move.

03 The Rural Futurism The Rural Futurism project, situated along the Mohawk River, endeavors to unite the two riverbanks with a captivating sinuous bridge, serving as a pathway for visitors to intimately experience the site on foot. The bridge's organic curves harmonize with the natural contour lines and the river's edge, seamlessly blending into its surroundings. Strategically, the project's layout incorporates a public terrace nestled within the sweeping curve, offering picturesque views of the adjacent Blacthick Park. On the opposite riverbank stands the Training Recreational Center, its architectural form resembling a hand reaching downwards, as if cradling the graceful ribbon-like bridge. This three-story structure intersects with the bridge at its second floor, creating a dynamic visual connection. Fluid continuity and innovative geometry define the architectural design, with a deliberate use of grids for the roof structure. Notably, the bridge's second floor introduces a captivating configuration, facilitating the creation of a vibrant public terrace and a central courtyard, enhancing the overall experience of the site.

04 Unity Square: Dewitt's Cubist Hub Nestled within Dewitt, a quintessential suburban landscape characterized by its fragmented functions, lies our transformative project. With a vision to foster community cohesion and invigorate local dynamics, we embark on an endeavor to inter twine social spaces and economic vitality. Our blueprint includes the establishment of a quaint business enclave, an animated outdoor market for festivals, a communal town hall, an innovative subterranean grocery outlet, and an inviting park. Drawing inspiration from the avant-garde movement of Cubism, our architectural narrative unfolds from a fundamental cubist framework, evolving organically to accommodate the diverse needs of our envisioned programs. At the project's inception, the site is conceptually divided into four quadrants, each with distinct proportions, interconnected by a central bridge reminiscent of a vibrant pinwheel. The meticulously curated programs unfold across this canvas: a lively outdoor festival market graces the topleft quadrant, while the right side hosts the dignified town hall and collaborative workspaces. Transitioning to the bottom-left quadrant, a serene park beckons residents to unwind amidst nature's embrace. Above, the charming small business village perches atop the subterranean grocery store, seamlessly blending commerce with community.

SITE STRATEGY
Dewitt is a typical suburban area where all the functions are isolated from one another. We are trying to create a new community to boost social interaction and support local economics. To achieve such goals, we are not tearing down the original buildings, instead, we are going to add on those. By introducing a small business center for local businesses, co-working offices aside town hall and an art gallery and studio, we can combine the dislocated programs and the voids of the architecture to accommodate different kinds of outdoor activities, such as farmer’s market and outdoor performing spaces. The volume of different programs can also create a public plaza for all kind of activities and just chilling outside. In addition, small local business center becomes the symbol in the community which intensively conterative with larger brands, further strengthening local business.
