DRAWING BASICS with Kevin Rucker All Levels $40 1 Session ARTZ1513 Thursday, June 11th 6 - 8pm
Description Consider this course basic training for the sketch artist. Whether your goal is to sketch a schematic for a row of cabinets or paint your masterpiece, it all begins with the sketch. You’ll learn the basics, from drawing straight lines and perfect circles using everyday objects to creating two and three point perspective drawings. About Kevin “Ever since I can remember, I have always loved to draw. In one of my earliest memories as a child, I drew a ‘friend’ on the garage wall with green chalk. At a very early age, my mother encouraged me to create. In the summers of my youth, she would provide me with reams of notebook paper to draw on. My life has been devoted to art.”

CURSIVE CRUSH
with Anne Elser 2 Sessions Beginner to Intermediate Price: $160 ARTZ1570: Sat & Sun, June 20th & 21st 11am - 4:30pm Description
The speed of digital communication today has gifted us with more time to pursue things we love. But somewhere along the way, we’ve forgotten how good it feels to use a writing instrument to record our thoughts for ourselves and to those we love. Writing, and the time it takes to produce letterforms, is good for the body, mind, and spirit. It is also a gift to the recipient, who holds your elevated thoughts in their hands, literally, and with far more consideration and pause than through a text or email. The child of Spencerian calligraphy, Cursive Handwriting is not forgotten, because we have made a table for you to come join us in two fun and joyous days of lettering. Students will learn (or re-learn!) capitals and lower case letterforms, through formal exercises in structure, rhythm and flow - all standards similar to those taught not that long ago. Day one is spent on spacing and lower case characters. Day two we’ll dance with capitals and dive right into an envelope addressing/letter writing project. Both days we’ll take an hour break for lunch. This workshop is suitable for calligraphers, tweens, and all adults.

Limelight
GALLERY
BINDERS Limelight Gallery highlights local Atlanta artists through group exhibitions, special events, and community involvement. The Limelight Gallery is a 750 square foot contemporary art gallery uniquely located within BINDERS Art Supplies and Frames. Located in the heart of Buckhead, the Limelight Gallery offers an atmosphere of simple elegance with diverse energies and community support. History The Limelight Gallery at BINDERS is located in what was once the famed Limelight Discotheque of the early 1980’s, pioneered by enigmatic club king Peter Gatien. The Limelight lived up to its billing as the Studio 54 of the south with an infamous glass dance floor where two sand sharks could be seen swimming underneath in a massive fish tank. The club’s reputation of decadence attracted visiting celebrities such as Andy Warhol, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Burt Reynolds, and Grace Jones. More recently, the Limelight serves as BINDERS Art Supplies in store art gallery representing numerous works from local groups such as the Atlanta Collage Society, Atlanta Printmaker’s Studio, Atlanta Fine Arts League, Atlanta Artist’s Center, Georgia State University, Savannah College of Art & Design- Atlanta, and Fulton County Public Schools.
