Editor’s Corner This is our mega-packed summer issue. Our theme this month is radiance and magnificence; and our contributors sure have risen up to the occasion. Before I get into the nitty-gritty of this issue, I want to take a moment to reflect on my own thoughts on issues that have arisen this month. This has sure been a jammed-packed month in current events around the world; but perhaps the biggest news that swayed many of us this month, and truly brought us to a realization of how short life really is, was the tragic and untimely death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

While he had certain characteristics and eccentricities that many disapproved of, what is undeniable is the incredible, and far-reach he had in his celebrity; and the indelible mark that he has left on our world with his humanitarian efforts, music, and legendary dance-moves. From old to young, the news of his passing caused many to stand still and reflect on their past, and how delicate life truly can be. There is no way that I could not mention such an event that impacted so many across the world, which brought so many individuals together; bridging the gap between continents via such social media outlets as Facebook and Twitter. On Tuesday, July 7 t h ; Michael Jackson’s memorial service drew millions of people to TV screens and various web-streams all over the world, falling shy of the record number of viewers for Princess Diana’s funeral. And then, at that poignant moment in time, Paris Jackson got up and delivered her heartwrenching and deeply moving statement. In that moment in time, the whole world forgot about Michael Jackson the King of Pop and realized that to this little girl and her brothers, he was simply “Daddy”. It is quite amazing how much we think of life when faced with the aspect of death. For a short time, we treat people better, determine to live each moment as if it were our last, and even practice forgiveness; but all too soon, we forget these things as we move forward with our lives. Those lost, become mere memories. This month, Christine Brooks brings this to light in her article “Summer Fun”, and we hope that the sentiment she brings forth will ring clear. And, that it will have a lasting effect throughout the summer, and into the months and years that are still left to be discovered. We feature an incredible interview with The Working Inventor, Scott Evans; who truly is an amazing and wonderful person, someone who I am lucky enough to call “friend”. If you are in business, or thinking about getting into business; you definitely want to read this interview and bookmark it to read over and over again. We realize that with the current state of the economy, travel this year may be harder for some readers to accomplish. This month, instead of focusing on a specific travel destination, we’ve brought you several articles on celebrating the summer holidays with your children at home, or within your geographic region. This month is all about celebrating the wonderful warmth of summer, the light which the sun radiates, having fun, laughing, getting out for picnics, the healing art of the Hawaiian Hula, and so much more; and remembering always to first and foremost celebrate YOU. Happy Summer! Celebrating your magnificence, Leyla Hur Editor-in-Chief

Step into Your Greatness NOW! Knowing that life is a journey and we encounter obstacles, challenges and limitations on the way, we don't expect a perfectly smooth ride. It seems that some of us are lucky and fortunate but for many, the ride is getting bumpier and bumpier. The cup of woes is overflowing... The question that naturally arises is: how can one stay positive? Most importantly, how does one transcend the negative energy flowing around us, ready to suck us in? Is it possible? Yes, it is. If only you are willing to step into your greatness NOW. Yes, this very moment. All it takes is a decision, a commitment that you will no longer play small, that you will no longer feel hopeless and powerless. All you have to do is "just believe" that you have the power within
you to change your life and of those around you. As you empower yourself and step into your greatness, you will empower others to rise and shine and step into their greatness! We are not a machine. Nor a robot. Nor a supercomputer. We are a masterpiece. Compact, intelligent, self-governing. Perfectly designed and executed. A wonderful creation! We have in our possession, a priceless, powerful and anabolic powerhouse comprising of our body, mind and spirit. Caught in the world wide web of life, we have forgotten who we are and what we are capable of. It's time to reclaim our true power. STEP INTO YOUR GREATNESS NOW ... in THREE simple steps! Step #1: Respect your body and take care of it
 4
"To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear." ~Buddha Our body is truly amazing! Trillions of cells. Organs. Organ systems. All working in perfect order and unison, coordination, collaboration and balance. Executing a zillion complex and extraordinary functions each day! And it all began with just two teeny-weeny cells? Did you know that our body recreates itself every 5 years, that there is no single old cell in the body at that time? Yet, we hardly see/feel anything out of place? Isn't it remarkable considering all that goes into a product release and upgrade - version control, quality control, design control, program and project management, enhancements, maintenance, delivery, production etc? To think all these take place so seamlessly and effortlessly? There are people who take better care of their cars than they take care of their bodies. Love your body and appreciate all that it does for you to keep you in good health and shape. Step #2: Get out of the box and tap into your intuition Functionally, the mind can be divided into emotional mind, rational mind and intuitive mind. The rational mind allows us to think, reason, use logic, analyze. It helps us concretize an idea or an insight by applying rationale and logic to it, breaking it down into smaller and smaller units. The emotional mind helps us experience the emotion behind a thought. "Intuition is the supra-logic that cuts out all the routine processes of thought and leaps straight from the problem to the answer." ~ Robert Graves If the rational mind is the analyzer, the intuitive mind is the synthesizer. It creates the big picture out of all the small details. It is that sudden flash of insight that makes everything crystal clear you know it; you believe it and you can feel it with your heart. Logic and rationale come later. Scientists say that we use less than 10% of our mind power. The mind loves to create patterns and rules from our past experiences and stores them in the subconscious. We create this imaginary box and our thinking is limited to what we have chosen to store in this box. "The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have
created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." ~Albert Einstein If Bill Gates stuck to logic and rationale, he would never have dropped out of the prestigious (and highly coveted) Harvard University and there would have been no Microsoft! And if a sixteen-year old Albert Einstein had not wondered what it would be like to travel along a ray of light, we wouldn't have a great scientist and his groundbreaking theories! Get out of the box and tap into your intuition! Because the intuitive mind is the gateway to the spirit, it is anabolic and inspires anabolic thoughts, emotions, actions and results. Step #3: Connect to your spirit and partner with the universe "We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey." ~ Steven Covey Our spirit is our real essence. It is the same spirit that pervades this universe, the Infinite Spirit (some call it Universe, God, Higher Power), the source of all creation. It is the Infinite Source of Wisdom, Intelligence, Will, Creativity, Love and Abundance, an unlimited reservoir of anabolic energy. We are all spiritual beings. Spirituality is not limited to only a privileged few. Neither does being spiritual mean renouncing the world, body or mind. It is staying connected to our core, expressing our true potential and living a life of fun, fulfillment, purpose, peace, love, joy, success and abundance. "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." ~ Paulo Coelho The Infinite Spirit has a solution to every problem, has an answer to every question, has an opportunity for every challenge, has the power to turn every stumbling block into a stepping stone - for every aspect of your life, be it business, career, relationships, or life in general. The laws of the universe (and nature) are simple (we have unnecessarily complicated and diluted them over ages), straightforward, fair, unbiased and anabolic. They apply equally to every person on this planet, irrespective of country, color, class, caste, creed, culture, religion, race, gender, age, role, education, qualification, business/organization or profession.

When you connect with your spirit, you are essentially partnering with the universe. The stars and planets align just for you. The words impossible and fear cease to exist... and you can accomplish what you want effortlessly! This week: What thoughts and emotions are experiencing during and after reading article?
you this
It is common for the rational mind to step in after some time. How long does it take to show up and what does it say? Experience is the greatest teacher. How willing are you to step into your greatness and experiment with it for yourself?

Summer is here! Well at least it is in the UK, which is a good sign as bad weather summers are usually the norm.
The Chance to Reach Your Potential
With the days being longer and the nights shorter it is nice to have more hours in the day for what we need to do and to ultimately achieve our potential. Are you living fully to your potential? Most people are not. Now that the summer is here and the days are longer, growth is in the air; so why not make the most of this energy and better yourself? What is your potential? To know this we must first know our values; these are our true values and not ones which we may have ‘inherited’ from our parents, teachers and society. The first step to knowing what your potential could be is to know yourself well. Take a few minutes each day to think about what excites you. What do you feel enthused about and would wake up early for? What do you have to drag yourself to and make excuses for not doing? The more you start knowing yourself, the more you will get to know what your values are. For instance, if you feel good when you have no rigid plans; such as no fixed lunch, dinner or breakfast, then one of your values is freedom.
6
If you feel great when reaching out to someone, to help or network, then your value is connection. When you know your values and start living in accordance with them, you’ll find yourself better placed to be able to realize your potential. You’ll also find that more opportunities come your way due to your happier state.
realize responsibility and start disempowering the limiting belief. Using the above example in this exercise; one way to realize and overcome our limitations would be to list all the ways in your life in which you have been good with numbers, money or related instances. Once you have a list, you can start disempowering the belief, and making the belief seem unbelievable.
This is the law of attraction in action. Achieving your potential… When you have an idea of what your values and potential could be, start focusing on your mental state. When you keep a positive state of mind, you will be better position to achieving success. Take a few minutes each day to listen to your thoughts; start analyzing them to see whether they are positive or negative in nature. If you notice that your thoughts are negative; such as constant worrying, or to-do lists which are overwhelming and make you nervous and afraid; start imagining them drifting from your mind and slowly begin replacing them with Are you living fully positive ones.
It is important to realize that circumstances change and people grow; what was once true for the child may not be true for the adult. Another way of truly reaching your potential and a great way at the moment is to surround yourself with positive people. Have you noticed that when the sun shines it brings out the best in people? People say hello in the street and take time to walk and enjoy themselves rather than reaching for the car keys. The more positive people are around you, the more likely you are to be positive. The law of attraction again!
While this may not be as easy as it seems, it will take some practice to get control of your mind and your thoughts. Remember that the more positive you are, the better placed you are to strive and reach for your potential.
Try staying away from people who are negative and who drain your energy. If you are tired after speaking on the phone to someone complaining about their life, how are you going to keep the ‘get up and go’ mentality needed to reach your potential? You’ll be struggling to win a losing battle.
Once you have accomplished a positive mindset, the next step is to start believing in yourself and your abilities to reach the potential within you.
If you are unable to stay away completely yet, or feel obliged to keep contact with negative people, then limit the time you spend with them.
Often, our view of ourselves can be marred by limiting or restrictive beliefs which we may have encountered in childhood, and which we have carried into our adult life.
You need to make sure that most of your time is spent towards reaching and achieving your potential.
to your potential?
They can be locked away deep in our subconscious, and we are unaware that certain actions we are doing are restricting ourselves and limiting our potential in life.
The summer brings out the most in people with the warm weather, sun and smiles. We can take full advantage of this by using the longer hours, growth which is happening in nature, and the positive outlook by people to enhance and achieve our full potential.
An example is a child who has been told they are no good at numbers following a school test; as an adult they find themselves struggling with their finances and cannot control their money. They have a deep-seated fear of numbers and anything related to them, including as money.
I would love to hear your comments on this article or things about the summer and your potential or anything else that you would like to share.
As adults, we must find the link between the limiting belief and the current problem, then

7 Reasons Laughter is Excellent Medicine From a little snicker to a side splitting belly laugh, we all know that laughing improves your mood. But can it also improve your health? Many people seem to think it does. In fact, here are 7 reasons laughter is healthy for you: It activates your immune system, increasing the number of natural killer cells (cells that attack viruses and other nasty stuff). It also increases activated Tcells, antibodies and gamma interferon which all help immunity. It decreases stress hormones which can constrict blood flow and impair immune function. Stress is one of the leading causes of illness (and grumpiness) so anything you can do to decrease stress has got to be a good thing! It relaxes your muscles. Yeah I know it doesn't feel that way when you're sides are cramping because you're laughing so hard. But when you laugh the other muscles in your body (the ones not directly involved in laughing) start to relax and after you're done the others catch on and follow suit. It reduces pain. When you're laughing really hard you tend to forget everyday aches and pains. In fact, if you laugh so hard you're crying that often relieves
headaches temporarily.
and
sinus

It can help with respiration, especially if you're laughing really hard. When you're laughing you can't help but empty your lungs, resulting in a type of cleansing effect. It exercises your insides. You know how it feels when you're laughing really hard - like all your insides are jiggling. These muscles don't get worked too often so a good belly laugh is good for your innards (hmm...I wonder when someone will invent a "belly laugh machine" and do an infomercial selling it). It makes you feel good. Feeling good is so important to overall health and well-being. Plus well - it just feels good. So lighten up and laugh a little, your body will love you for it! Divine Order." You are stating that infinite Intelligence is already operating or has operated in the subconscious and is bringing the much desired adjustment through the principle of harmony. A statement must be said with conviction. Have you had enough of a situation or a person's behavior? Try repeating the phrase silently in your mind or out loud if alone. We create what we believe. If we are not at peace, we may create a fortune but still be inwardly miserable.
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words Creating life changes is an art. You must ask believing your mind moves from the thought to the thing. Unless there is first an image in the mind, guess what? There would be nothing for it to move toward. Creating is a mental act and with emotion and focus the power from your subconscious will play upon it and make it productive. The easiest and most obvious way to formulate an idea is to visualize it, to see it in your mind's eye as vividly as it were alive.
Movie. See yourself acting as though the desire is accomplished. See an imaginary scene and yourself as the actor in the scene. Feel the reality of it all, the victory and satisfaction. Dramatize the mental movie until you feel satisfied that this picture is being conveyed to your subconscious mind. This is a good 'play' to create before falling asleep. With the economy as it is, why not see yourself with a check written out to you for a large sum of money and feel the gratitude and happiness in being the recipient of good fortune.
A deep sense of guilt has a great deal to do as to whether we are happy and feel good about ourselves. Guilt attracts every type of trouble imaginable. When you create, never create a situation that will cause harm to someone else. If you are successful, you will love your work because you are able to express yourself fully. The secret is integrity and creating work that satisfies this interest. To satisfy this quest and be successful living it, it is necessary to correctly use the subconscious part of the mind for your success. Part of your success involves the ability to see a project, a dreamidea, in its completion. The creative forces of your subconscious mind are powerful. This holds true for whatever field of action that you desire to experience your ideas.
“Remember, you are the builder…”
Remember, you are the builder. A builder visualizes the type of structure he wants. This is a wonderful tool to use while you are waiting to be interviewed for a job. See the interviewer receptive to what you will be saying. Release the picture and go into the office with confidence. You have already c reated a positive outcome. There is another method you can also use called the Mental
Another technique is to condense your idea, which is the object of suggestion, to either a brief phrase or word and simply repeat it over and over again t hroughout the day. Many people need harmony in their environment. As an example, repeat a simple phrase such as, "It is finished in Divine Order" or "I have had enough of this nonsense. It is finished in
Constantly imagine what it is that you desire. Mentally create the action of the role you desire to be living. You can hold imaginary conversations, gestures and solutions...anything is possible. Dramatize what you desire in your mind so that you are

psychologically fixed into a belief that will materialize. You can use this for a job, selling a home, health, relationships or anything that would benefit your life. It is infinite Intelligence attracting to you what you desire. The deeper currents of the subconscious will work for you and bring everything to you if you know it is so. Focus on the abstract term, success. The idea of success contains all the essential elements of success. When you choose a word or sentence that describes your desire, repeat often with confidence and determination. You are actually compelled to express your subjective beliefs, impressions and convictions. First, you must be clear in your own mind what success means to you. Become imaginative and mentally participate in the reality of the successful state. I know I am being repetitive but that is how learning works for most of us. Make a habit of it. Go to bed feeling successful, satisfied because you are implanting the idea of success in your subconscious part of the mind. Believe it! We are co-creators. Allow yourself to experience the thrill of intention. Yes, honoring yourself and creating good in your life is definitely magical... Do you wonder what comes next? What is your goal here? Why do you do this work? Why are you reading this article? Why do you attend personal growth seminars and workshops? Why do you purchase and buy CD's and DVD's of people inspiring you and coaching you through to the next level? The next level of what? There is a theory that the Egyptians didn't actually finish the pyramids that they left the top, the capstone, off... They knew that they had done a tremendous job and followed mathematical law as best they could but to finish it would have tempted the God's anger. It would have said to the pantheons, "See, we too are perfect" when they believed that only God was perfect.

Babylon anyone? Is perfection truly attainable? Or is it the striving for perfection that we love? We tend to place our desires on a pedestal and say, "If I were that, I would be happy/fulfilled/rich/satisfied/rela xed/free." Or better yet, really set yourself apart from your dreams/mission/vision/passion/ purpose buy believing that there is ANOTHER seminar/class/workshop/healer you must attend and purchase his/her book/CD/DVD/Download before you can achieve whatever it is you desire. What a bunch of crap.
then worship it...only to tear it or them down later because it is unobtainable? There have been many Gurus who fell from grace for being human. You could never be rich until you reveal your "inner millionaire" or never have a truly passionate relationship unless you revealed your "inner passionate lover". You will never attain that which you desire until you reveal the vessel that can become that desire.
Reveal your businessman.
This journey is to become who you truly are. Give up the struggle to be better. When you see perfection in the mirror at every moment, even at your dark times of the soul, you will know that your journey to evolve that perfection is why you attend personal growth seminars and workshops. It is why you purchase and buy CD's and DVD's of people talking to inspire you and coach you through to the next level.
A “broken” or “unfinished” or “incomplete” vessel cannot contain ANYTHING
This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t pursue knowledge and wisdom and growth... far from it, but seeing yourself as “broken” or “unfinished” or “incomplete” is detrimental to your growth. A “broken” or “unfinished” or “incomplete” vessel cannot contain ANYTHING.
Desire is the will pressing outward to become manifest and there has to be a level of understanding, of feeling the capacity to have that which you seek... Otherwise you would not seek it; there would be no frame of reference.
Let’s take money for example. If our beliefs are that money provides a freedom we cannot otherwise enjoy... what does Bill Gates long for? Do you believe that you won’t be happy until you’re rich? Truth is you won’t be rich until you are happy.
Why would you want to be a cow if you had no understanding of what being a cow is? Where did that understanding come from? From your own "inner cow", "inner millionaire", or "inner passionate lover".
You are - therefore you think.
In a nutshell, stop trying to achieve any state of perfection. Reveal it.
The problem with striving for perfection is that it denotes that we are not perfect, or that perfection is something outside of us that we must obtain.
The world is not broken and needs to be fixed. The world is perfect and must evolve.
Have you ever noticed human nature needs to put something or someone on a pedestal and

Decide to Radiate this Summer Regardless of Your Size Summertime is for easy living. No snow to shovel. No howling winds to brace against. No fields to harvest. It’s when Mother Nature takes a break for living easily herself and I think we should, too. This article is written for the large woman (or the woman who sees herself as too large) with practical tips for self-love and self-acceptance. I’d like to pack a picnic lunch of tasty ideas about the “I” of you – that inner self who knows nothing about bodily size but instead focuses on character traits. A lot of showing off of our bodies happens in the summertime, doesn’t it? Young girls strip down to bikinis and strut themselves on the beach. Shorts and halters and sundresses become the norm. Lucky boys and men get to parade only in
trunks. How do you feel inside of clothing that exposes more of your body? In order to permit yourself not to go through the summer uncomfortably trying to cover up what you don’t like about your appearance, I’d like to take some ideas out of that picnic basket for you to consider about your deservedness: •
Do you deserve to be as comfortable as everyone else?
•
Do you deserve to wear a bathing suit publically on the beach?
12
•
Do you deserve to hear no nasty comments about your appearance when you do?
•
Do you deserve to dress as you please?
•
Should there be different rules for slender women and for fat women?
•
Do you deserve equality? Seriously, DO you?
Since we are all created equal, then yes, every single one of us deserves to dress comfortably; wear a bathing suit in public; have no nasty comments flung our way; dress as we please; all follow the same rules and live harmoniously under the same equality we see slender women receiving. The magnificence of the individuality called by your name is true of every individual with a name and it has nothing to do with your size. It has only to do with your Be-ing. In order to understand this magnificence, I’d like to encourage you to teach yourself to stop judging by appearances (your own included) and begin to judge by the Divine Stuff from which each one of us is endowed at birth. Inside you, there is a complete set of faculties, abilities and virtues. I personally think it’d be hilarious if God said “Give the fat girl a few less abilities seeing how evil fat is.”
At some point, you will know yourself mainly through the degree you have unfolded for each of your virtues and it will no longer be about “What do I look like in a sun dress?” My wish for you is that you become completely comfortable with the inner you and all the wonders of her virtues. Perhaps living through this summer will help you to unfold this sense of comfort. I was once sun bathing at the beach when three, young surfers came out of the water, walked past me and one of them said “Oh look, it’s a beached whale.” I was a lot younger then and a lot smaller than I am now. I’d like to thank those surfers because they created an opportunity to learn how to reason, to dig for the truth about myself, and to exercise forgiveness for their inappropriate stupidity. I wouldn’t wish any of you this experience but it did end up tasting like lemonade, a perfect accompaniment for a summertime picnic. Pat Matson uses the education she’s received, the experiences she’s enjoyed, the lessons Life has taught her along with a deep-seated sense of spirituality, and a passion to share her understanding to help women who struggle with bodily issues. To contact Pat and find out more about your own W orld of W ithin and to achieve selflove and self-acceptance through Pat’s tips and resources, email patm@magnifyyou.com
Doesn’t it sound ridiculous said like that? Well, ‘all born equal’ is true, so let’s look at what ‘born equal’ means. Every one of us can hear, can see, can touch, can taste, can smell, can reason and can understand. If anyone thinks he cannot enjoy one of these, he has made a mistake and mistakes can be corrected. With each of these faculties I just listed, there comes an ability. With the faculty of hearing, you have the ability to hear. With the faculty of touch you have the ability to feel, and so on for the rest of them. Each of us has a complete set of virtues. Those virtues are wrapped up as tightly as young fiddlehead ferns and have to be unfolded by you through learning to use them. Think back to your childhood and consider your virtue of courage. Has it unfolded more clearly to you since you were in preschool? I would hope so. And it will continue to unfold more of itself as you use it and strengthen it through that use.

for a new dance or poem. This ability to do one thing and think about another is a wonderful advantage of the human organisms' larger brain.
Finding Your Body's Mind "The mind is like the wind; the body is like the sand. If you want to know which way the wind is blowing, watch the sand." (Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen) Even when we are still, we are mov ing. Blood circulates, lymph flows, the heart beats, stomach juices swirl, cerebral spinal fluid pulses, cells migrate, and rib cage and lungs expand and contract. There is a universe of silent movement occurring inside us every second.
Like all positives though, there is an inherent negative in this advantage. If I am thinking about my idea for a new dance or planning my day while I'm brushing my teeth, I cut myself off from much of the sensory information I am receiving from my movement. The skin, joints and muscles have sensory receptors that telegraph information to my brain about pressure, pain and the position of my body, among other things. These sensory receptors, our proprioceptors, are the internal eyes of the body. They transmit a continuous sensory flow from the movable parts of my body and have been called our secret sense. In his b ook "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat", Oliver Sacks tells the stor y of Christina, "Th e Disembodied Lady". Christina lost all proprioception through a rare nerve disease. In her despair she once cried to Dr. Sa cks: "If only I could feel! But I've forgotten what it's like. It's like something's been scooped out of me, right at the center..."
“There is a universe of silent movement us occurring insi de every second…”
There is no conscious effort to these movements. I do not have to decide to digest my food. If I eat something my digestive system, governed by my brain, takes care of it. In contrast to these involuntary movements are the movements I decide to do, or voluntary movements. Voluntary movement is active; it requires consciousness, intent and will. When I decide to brush my teeth I must first have the intent and the will to perform that activity before I can reach out with my hand to grasp the toothbrush, put toothpaste on the brush and bring it to my mouth. Even though I must have the c onscious intent to brush my teeth, t here are times when I do not re member if I did or did not! So even though I have made a conscious decision to brush my teeth, I do not have to stay conscious of brushing my teeth to achieve my goal. Brushing my teeth i s a habitual act, a series of movements that h ave been recorded in my sensory and kinesthetic memory. This memory allows me to perform this activity unconsciously. While I am brushing my teeth I can plan my day or be seized by a wild idea
In a most fundamental and profound way my p roprioceptors let me know that I exist for they allow me to "feel myself". In fact, Dr. Sacks states in his marvelous book, "A Leg To Stand On", ".... if Descartes only knew about propioception, this mind-body split would never have happened."
14
Movement activates my proprioceptors and it is the feel of my movement that offers me a view into my body's mind. Increased awareness of my movement and postural patterns comes from attending to my sensory system. I can use this wonderful and exquisite sensory system to e nhance and deepen my ability to find and communicate with body's mind. Let's go back to my teeth brushing. Instead of thinking about my new dance or planning my day, I've tuned into my body and feel a strain in my neck, shoulders and lower back. A common response is the "put" the shoulders down and " straighten up". But, my body's mind does not understand these "commands". My body's mind loves remembered sensations and images. Instead of "putting" shoulders down I can call upon a pleasurable sensation of a past movement. I can allow my shoulders to slide down towards my hips. Sliding was one of my favorite childhood activities so it is deeply encoded in my sensory system. My nervous system truly understands that "comm and". Instead of "straightening up" I can imagine and feel a fountain of water flowing up through my spine. Using sensations and images is a more direct, powerful, pleasurable and playful way of communicating with my body. My nervous system has a beautiful and innate wisdom and if given the chance, it will engage the best neuromuscular pathway to produce my movement goal. This manner of communicating a llows me to engage myself fully and change habitual patterns from the inside out. Hawaii Wellness Healing Hula Hawaiian Based Healing Through Movement and Chanting Growing throu gh the years I find myself finally slipping into the t ime of wisdom. I guess it's a safe way to say I'm just getting older. As I'm going through th is and realizing that some of the athletic thing s I u se to do like playing hockey just is not do ing m y body justice. As for my mi nd a nd spirit, I find myself at that age where I' m loo king for balance. I still have plenty years in the game but now loo king for an all-in-one where I can get a physical challenge with a spiritual one; in comes what I found healing hula. As I was relaxing in a mellow part of Honolulu called Kaimuki, I had been looking through a local magazine that is all about Hawaii based wellness. There were many different services advertised from hands-on type healing to a combination of east/west herbal and meditation techniques. But it was a happen chance of me passing a small studio where I was taken in by a recognizable rhythm of an Ipu (Hawaiian rhythm instrument) and chanting. As I got closer I was looking at the class from the outside when I was invited in to watch.

At first I thought it was a yoga studio because of some literature that I saw on shelves, but I was wrong. As I watched the class, I noticed that most of the people in the class where in the 35+ a ge range; dancing and flowing like th ey were all 2 0. As the Kumu (Hawaiian for Teacher) taught hu la movement to the class, she also infused the essence of traditional Hawaiian spi ritual te achings. It was completely mesmerizing and the rhythm and chan ting drew me from just being an observ er to actually feeling the class in progress. As I took a closer lo ok at healing hula class, I notice a rhythmic energy evolving as the class

progressed. When the participant embraced the rhythmic energy, he or she was able to focus. Com bining the ability to focus with the incredible v ortex the participants created is what I must h ave been feeling - almost like a self healing e nergy. I had to stay long enough to ask the Kumu what her classes where all about and what brought h er to teach healing through hula and chanting a nd she just smiled and said that the answer was in how I was feeling at the moment. As very humble she is, I did get from her how she came about with her knowledg e. Ka'ipo, whose late father was of pure Ha waiian ancestry a nd late mother was half Ha waiian, was born in Hawai'i. The essence of ancient Hawaiian values, philosophy and energies vibrate deeply within her belief system. This mainstay, coupled with life experiences of the Eastern and Western cultures, evolved into her current mantra. So as I left the healing studio it left an amazing impression on all that I thought I was lacking; mind, body, spirit and balance. It seemed to me that it was a Hawaiian version of Tai Chi embodied with the beauty of Hula and Chanting. Motion sickness, bug bites, digestive problems, and general travel weariness are common discomforts experienced when venturing away from home. A small collection of inexpensive essential oils can provide relief from these a ilments. Reaching for Essential Oils may bring fast and soothing relief. Here are suggestions for using 5 E sse ntial Oils, as part of a travel kit. 1. Lavender Lavender - the great soother due to its wide range of effects. The aroma of Lav ender is uplifting, relaxing and useful for st ress in congested airports or crowded highways. Inhaling this oil is effective for ad ults and children. Place 1 to 2 drops on a tissue and inhale from it directly every couple of minutes. For a headache, place one drop of neat Lavender oil to each of the temples an d one drop applied neat along the nape of the neck. Lavender is an effective wound-healer because o f its anti-inflammatory, mild anti-bacterial and s kin-regenerative properties. An accidental burn from a barbecue, candle or a hot stove can be helped by the prompt application of 1 to 2 drops of Lavender, applied neat (i.e. undiluted) to the affected skin, while

Remember to
Lavender is also helpful for treating bites and stings. Place 1 to 2 drops neat (i.e. undiluted) on the affected area. Remember, when using Essential Oils, less is more. Again, seek medical assistance for the bite or sting promptly, especially if you might be allergic. . Lavender as a Jet Lag Remedy T he symptoms of jet lag after a long flight are well recognised: sleep disturbances, disorientation, fatigue and dehydration. Due to it s regulating effect on the systems of the body, lavender can b e a great aid in overcoming jet lag p roblems. Freshen up frequently during the flight using a little lavender water, or inhale a drop from a tissue. Upon arriving, after bathing, massage a blend of 2 to 3 drops of lavender diluted in 2 teaspoons of carrier oil, such as grape seed oil – this helps readjust the physiological and psychological rhythms. 2. Eucalyptus Eucalyptus Oil - This can cool the body when it is too hot, and warm it when too cold. Eucalyptus relieves nasal and chest congestion, supports blood circulation, relieves tiredness and aids in concentration. Use 1 to 2 drops on a tissue and inhale regularly. Again remember that when using Essential Oils, less is more. There is no need to overdo the number of drops.
that the body increases circulation and warms up in response to the cooling action of peppermint a pplied to the skin. It has long been used to calm uneasy stomachs. One drop (it is strong!) in a teaspoon of sugar (or a sugar cube) helps calm air sickness and car sickness. Peppermint oil can also be uplifting to the weary driver or passenger. 1 to 2 drop s placed on ti ssues in the car or near your seat will release the aroma into your surroundin gs. Be careful w ith this oil, as getting it on sensitive areas of the skin (directly under the nose, and near the eyes) can cause irritation. Tissues containing the oil should not touch these areas directly. 4. Lemon Oil - the Purifier L emon also has some wonderfully diverse uses. It is effective as an antibacterial, but not so strong as to be an irritant. Adding 2- 3 drops per quart to t he drinking water will help purify it, and th e water can act as a disinfectant to be used in washing fruits and vegetables. Adding lemon to drinking water can gently stimulate the lymphatic and digestive systems, helping alleviate that sluggish feeling that often accompanies extended p lane and car travel. Note -These ess ential oils are readily available a nd fairly inexpensive - Buy only pure essential oils. As with any aromatherapy application, start slowly - essential oils deserve a healthy r espect. *None of the above recipes are a substitute for medical treatment. You should always have a full discussion with your medical practitioner.

Eucalyptus uplifts and invigorates during long periods in an automobile. It can be added to a cool bath or used as a cold compress in cases of heat exhaustion. Remember to have plenty of cool water. In cases of fever, 1 to 2 drops of Eucalyptus Oil in a bowl of lukewarm water can be used with a soft face cloth as a cool compress to the forehead to help reduce the fever whilst seeking medical advice. Keep the bowl of water handy nearby so as to soak and wring out the face cloth frequently and re-apply it to the forehead. 3. Peppermint Peppermint – is cooling, refreshing, warming and stimulating. The first Order of Love is that everyone within a family system has the right to belong and those who have been excluded need to be re-included into the family for the health and well being of everyone within the family. I am sure that many of us can think of someone within our own family who has become the "black sheep" or the outcast. Because systems are always striving for balance, if someone has been excluded, the system will find a way to recalibrate or rebalance itself. From the perspective of a soul, an injustice has been done. So the injustice will be corrected.
Holistic Family Healing – Orders of Love within Family Systems More than 50 years ago, Bert Hellinger coined the phrase “Systemic Constellation Work”. It is a type of systems work that focuses on the soul of the family, of an individual, of a Universal consciousness that has us, we don't have it. We are all born into a family that has a collective conscience, or soul. And with that come both blessings and circumstances, or fate that we carry from generation to generation. Unless there is resolution with the circumstance or burden it will continue to be pasted on from one generation to another. It's similar to the adage that history repeats itself unless resolved and healed. Hellinger lived with the Zulu's in South Africa for 20 years or so. Here he learned the importance of honoring those who came before us, our ancestors and believed that the "peace of the dead is dependent on the living and that the wellness of the living is dependent on the dead."
An example of this is if a person in the family is adopted out and is not remembered. Or if someone dies and is not remembered. That is considered an injustice and someone within the family will remember and carry that injustice. Some ways that it may show up in a person is in the form of addiction, depression, pervasive anxiety or disease. This is done on an unconscious level and often the person carrying it has no idea why they are experiencing these symptoms.
That is, if one wants to live an unencumbered life, it is imperative that the pain of the past, which can trickle down from one generation to the other is resolved in order for one to live a live that is truly theirs.
The second Order of Love is that those who have sacrificed themselves for their families need to be honored in order for the health and well being of the family.
When Hellinger returned to Germany, he became a psychotherapist and discovered that more than 70% of the issues that his clients suffered from were not due to psychological reasons, rather systemic ones. Specifically, from their family of origin which included many generations.
This is fascinating because those who sacrifice themselves for their families do it on an unconscious level; much like the other orders.
As he worked with folks, he came to discover the Orders of Love of which there are four.
An example of this would be if a child takes on the abuse that a parent may have been experiencing. In the magical thinking of the child it's as if they are saying, "better me mom, or better me dad than you."
When we speak of orders, it is the natural phenomenon that occurs throughout the invisible dynamics known as the quantum field or "The Field". An example of a phenomenon is when we enter the fall, it is natural for the leaves to turn color and fall to the ground. This is a natural order that occurs year after year. For more information on this subject, refer to Rupert Sheldrake's work. (sheldrake.org)
Children sacrifice themselves for their parents. We can see this as
18
we look at some family systems that have chronic addiction or abuse running through the generations. Unless resolved and unless honored it will continue to perpetuate itself. The third Order of Love is that everyone has their place within their family. Sometimes, due to a variety of circumstances, parents are not able to be the parents they may strive to be, so their children become the surrogate parent or become "parentified". Meaning they become the parent and the parent almost becomes the child. It's as if they don't have the backbone to standup as a parent. When I work with folks, I am able to envision where their place was in their family because of the way they describe their relationship with their parents both as they were growing up and how they live their lives as adults. Often these folks will talk in ways that are disrespectful of their parents and they may show some signs of arrogance. Part of the beauty of this work is that when an individual knows where their place is, they can take it, and receive that greatest gift that a parent could give a child, which is the gift of life. Through this systems work, taking this gift and giving back what isn't theirs to carry will free them up to live a very fulfilled life. Being trained as a therapist, I have worked with folks who may have moved thousands of miles away from their families or emotionally shut them out, and complain that they were not given what they felt they should have been given growing up. While I fully acknowledge that many folks within families have been poorly treated; if a victim, in this case a child can have compassion for the perpetrator or the parent, realizing that they too had been victimized, it can
facilitate deep healing for everyone within the system. It is an amazing process of profound healing on an emotional, physical and spiritual level of everyone within the system. The fourth Order of Love is that there is the equal give and take of energy, also known as reciprocity. In a couple's relationship, if one gives in a loving conscious way the other reciprocates by back in a loving conscious way. When harm is done to the other, it will also be reciprocated or balanced, for example, let’s say that one of the partner's goes out and buys a brand new car without talking it over with the other partner. A wrong has been done and will be corrected because of the system finding balance. Again this is done unconsciously or on the soul level. The give and take between a parent and their child is the parent's responsibility to give love to the child and the responsibility of the child to receive that love. When the child grows up and has children of their own, then they give back to give to their own children. If the child has no children, then they give back to society in the form of service. In some families, the parents tell the children things that are not for them to hear, such as any discord in their relationship. It is not a child's place to hear what is going on between their parents, and must stop in order for the health and well being of the family. I have had the honor of working with this approach to family system therapy for close to 10 years. I love how deep resolution can come about within families that have carried so much grief and emotional trauma. The process of this work is beautiful and continuously keeps me in a state of humility and compassion. I have been told by
many that this approach to healing one's self and ultimately their family has enabled them to stop suffering and come back home to their families. What I have learned, is if we disconnect ourselves from our families, we disconnect from ourselves. Whether we like it or not, we are our fathers, our mothers, our grandparents and all of those who came before us. We are their energetic signature that has been passed on for generations. When we can fully take the life and love that we were given, we have received our greatest gift. Giving back what is not ours to carry, we free ourselves to live a joyful life full of infinite possibilities. As we heal ourselves from the wounds that we have carried deep inside of us, it enables us to look out into the world with compassionate eyes and an open heart. All of us to some extent did not get what we needed from our families. Coming from a place of compassion we are able to see that our parents were doing the best that they could do with what they may have been carrying. Taking our fathers and mothers, exactly as they are, enable us to look kindly upon ourselves leading to self-empowerment and selfhealing. It is time to put down our swords and move forward into peace. of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen (H20) and so on, with literally thousands of different molecules possible. Or, electrons may be set free and allowed to do their own thing. Think of a free electron as a bullet traveling through space heading for a target. In the case of a cell, the electron is traveling through the matrix of the cell heading toward a particular molecule or tissue. In the case of muscle cells, the electron hits the target (actin and myosin of the muscle cell) and the muscle contracts. This, of course, is a very simplified version of what happens, and a biochemist would frown at this explanation, but I'm fairly confident that most of us reading this article are not biochemists. The Mind and the Breath In order to move energy through the body using the breath, you must have the power of imagination. Imagination comes from the mind and it's the power of the mind that channels energy through the body.
How to Use the Breath to Move Energy through the Body Breathing is a miraculous process that brings energy into the body and transfers that energy to all parts of the body. Carbohydrates are converted into glucose which eventually finds its way into all the cells of the body. When glucose reacts with oxygen, ATP (Adenosine TriPhosphate) is produced. ATP is a molecule of potential energy and does not become kinetic until it lets go of one of its phosphates. When the last phosphate, on the string of three, breaks away, electrons "fly" out of the reaction and gives kinetic energy to the cell. If the cell is a brain cell or a nerve cell, chemicals are released. If the cell is a muscle cell, it contracts. It is electron movement that allows the brain to think and the body to move, but it is the breath that initiates the whole process. Without the breath the entire system of cell respiration would back up like a dammed up stream. The result would be waste products building up killing the cells and the tissues. Energy Energy is the movement of electrons and electrons are constantly in motion. Electrons may be holding atoms together, like two atoms of hydrogen (H2) or two atoms
You must understand the fact that you are standing on a large ball of energy (the earth). Not only is the earth a ball of energy but it is expelling that energy into the atmosphere in basically two forms of kinetic energy: heat and electromagnetic. Both of these forms of energy are being emitted constantly from the earth and transferred into various objects, both animate or inanimate. By the simple act of standing on earth, energy is passing into your body. However, the energy can linger in your body for some time or it can dissipate quickly out into the atmosphere. With the power of the mind and the breath you can move that energy into any specific areas of the body that you so desire. Here is where imagination comes in - the power of the mind. While standing, take a slow, deep breath in while you imagine energy from the earth moving up your legs and into the area of your hips. Hold the breath for just a few of seconds and then slowly breathe out imagining the energy following your breath from the hips up through your spine and out the crown of your head. Continue doing this exercise for a few minutes. Shakti and Sushumna In yoga the term "Shakti" means energy, and "Sushumna" is the astral tube that runs through your body.
 21
As you stand and do the breathing exercise described above, imagine that your body is a hollow tube (Sushumna) while the breath and the energy (Shakti) are moving through the tube. As you continue to breathe slowly in and out, imagine the diameter of the tube in your body becoming larger and larger. Let your breath flow naturally and allow yourself to relax completely. At this point you may want to lie down. You may begin to notice your breathing getting easier like wind blowing through a tunnel. What is happening is you are becoming more and more relaxed as new energy is replacing old energy (waste). New energy is flowing into your body and waste is flowing out. This is a marvelous feeling. Move Energy into any Specific Part of Your Body Move into your favorite twisting yoga pose and hold the pose as you breathe.
Focus on that area of the body and allow Shakti to flow into it as you breathe in. As you breathe out allow the old energy to flow out. It doesn't matter where the energy flows out; it may be out the top of your head, a shoulder or somewhere else. Just keep new energy flowing into the stretch and old energy out. As you are moving the energy in and out see if you can move into the twist just a little further without feeling pain - just a nice warm stretch. Hold the pose for a few minutes and then slowly release and do the same pose but on the other side. Experiment with this energy moving exercise using other poses to see what effects you get. Neil Crenshaw, Ph.D. http://www.pureawareness.info Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Neil_Crenshaw
Once you are comfortable in the pose begin twisting a little further so that you can feel that part of the body that is being affected the most. ____________________________________________________________________

How to Wake Up and Start the Day Happy How many times have you gone off to sleep hoping that a fresh day will bring fresh hope and a new outlook? You awake only to find yourself wide-eyed, gazing at the ceiling and thinking "Here we go again!" Well if you are in this loop of going to bed frustrated and waking with the same feeling then I give to you some simple tips that can start your day off on the right foot. Firstly try to go to sleep in a better frame of mind. If you are mulling over problems, trying to balance your finances or just trying to figure out what to do with your life as you drift off into sleep then the chances are you will take these same frustrations with you when you wake and on top of that you will probably have had a restless night. So you wake up with the same problems, the same frustrations and on top of that you’re tired! A good solution to this is listening to very gentle music in the background as you drift off. You may also use a motivational or relaxation CD as you sleep or simply use a guided visualization to send you on your way. I developed a routine of saying a simple prayer and then using a personal visualization to calm me, relax me and
ease my mind. I would often have fantastic dreams and would awaken in a better frame of mind. Drinking a good herbal tea, particularly Valerian root, eased my physiological self and allowed relaxation to come more quickly. Having a morning routine helps as well. Mine used to be turning on the television to catch the headlines until I got so sick and tired of all the bad news putting me in a depressive state at the beginning of my day. If you have a favorite prayer or mantra that you can use before sleeping then perhaps you can use this mantra as you awake. It will only take twelve weeks to develop a habit and once entrenched as a relaxation catalyst your mantra of choice can then be used throughout the day to relieve general daily stress. Another good routine would be morning exercise. Exercise really does help, especially with depression and need not be jogging or lifting weights.

Chi Qong is fantastic for relaxation, getting your body's energy circulating and overall health. It need not take long and will focus on positivity as the first morning experience. Yoga, Tai-Chi, general stretching and a short walk works wonders as well. Now obviously we all face issues that are serious enough to make us worried sick. That phrase is very literal and the focus and emphasis on the stress is what will cause sickness later on. Now I am not suggesting that you bury your head in the sand however, when you arise why not read a paragraph from a motivational book. If there is a favorite quote then write it out, frame it and have it visible when you first open your eyes. Of course this will not "magic" your problems away-yet always be open for miracles!however, it will relax your mind and allow you to start fresh and clean and with a lighter step. Some simple steps then to start your morning off. Noone deserves to be restless and agitated at any point in their life let alone when you first wake up. So treat yourself to a stress free morning, even if it is just those first few minutes. These minutes can then be extended and extended until your morning, then your day, then your evening and finally your entire life becomes filled with these precious moments.
It’s Elementary Summer is the time of year where we shed our shelters and get out into the world. We surround ourselves with all the elements and take it all in. Yet, there’s so much more to those elements than meets the eye. The elements – Earth, Air, Fire and Water – are not just a part of Life itself; they are here to be our teachers. You think that school is out during the summer. Au Contraire, my friends; our lessons have only just begun! Lessons from Earth

Have a solid foundation One of the strongest elements of Earth is how solid a foundation it is. It's what we build our highest towers upon. The same is true of our lives. To be able to reach the sky, we must be able to stand tall. When you're building a home, you can't start with the second floor. Nurture Another amazing thing about Earth is just how much life actually grows from it. The earth nurtures life just by being itself, by surrounding seeds and feeding it the nutrients it needs to grow. That tells us that we can achieve more through giving, rather than taking away. Giving gets more. Be patient The thing about the Earth is: it's very patient. It doesn't rush its nurturing; it doesn't try to hurry up the building process. It just IS, and let's everything else just BE. It knows that everything takes time, so it takes its time. So don’t rush things, or wish for them to be here sooner than it takes. Just be; let life unfold. Patience, in the long run, is its own reward. Keep moving In order for Earth to be alive, it needs to be in constant movement. The dirt is tilled by insects, continents shift;

the planet never stops revolving. So why should we stand still? Keep up with life. Move it!
Take the passion from within and light up the world around you.
With Life moving all around you, standing still is going backwards.
Burn steady The flame that burns the brightest, burns out the soonest. It's nice to have an exciting life, no doubt, but it’s also important to keep at it. By balancing excitement with temperance, we can spread the light over many more years. Think about the sun, we really wouldn't want it to burn itself out in one day, now would we?
Lessons from Air Be Present Air is ever present. It surrounds us; moves through us. With every single breath we take, it comes in and travels through our entire being. To be like Air is to be everywhere in the moment. Live in the Total Here-andNow. Even though we are like a single breath, we are also a part of the Greater Whole. Be Still One of Air's special qualities is its stillness. It doesn't have to be or do anything in order to be Air. It just is. In stillness, air carries the sweet sounds of nature. It lets light and all creatures pass through undisturbed. Within Air’s stillness is Peace. Be Gentle Air can be gentle. It's calm and subtle force is what helps move Life from one place to another. It teaches us that we don't have to be forceful just to get things going.
Give all you can give to be successful, and save the rest for tomorrow. Be a light for others A fire never 'tries' to light up the area around it; it just does. So we can be the same as Fire by living our lives as true to our nature as we possibly can. Don't hide, or even show off; just simply shine! The darker it is, the brighter the fire appears. All it takes is a spark Even the grandest of fires start small. Too often we think of the things we want in life and see it as this huge “something” that we're never going to have. We forget that almost everything in life starts small and grows. We're so much more powerful than we realize. All it takes is us noticing the little things. You are the spark of Life. You don't need to wait for a match to start a fire.
Within its gentleness, Air calms and soothes our souls. Lessons from Water Be as gentle to yourself as the summer breeze. Be Supportive Air is also very strong. After all, how can something we can't see, or which lets us pass through so easily, be able to hold up giant airplanes? Air teaches us how to be supportive of others, just by being itself. Be Powerful When the wind picks up, it can level entire landscapes. It becomes a force to be reckoned with; and reminds us of the true power of its strength. Through its strength, Air teaches us that by unleashing our power within. Lessons from Fire Burn with passion The strength of a fire comes from within. Its fuel radiating outward is what endows fire with all of its other qualities. The same is true for us. What we love and what we desire is what drives us forward.

Go with the flow Water is easy-going, even at its most torrential. It travels along the Path of Least Resistance. If something is in the way, it can go around it, or over it. A rock may change the river's course, but it does not change the river. Persistent Patience Water is patient and seemingly tireless in its actions. It doesn't go, "well, I went this way yesterday, there's no need for me to flow like this again today." It just goes on and on. By learning from the water, we can become more patient with ourselves. We can understand that some things just take longer; so why not keep at it? A gentle stream can split a mountain, if given enough time. Transformation Water doesn't just come in one form. When it's cold, it hardens; when it’s hot, it turns lighter than air. It adapts to match the conditions surrounding it. Imagine how much more powerful our lives would be if we were that mutable? Water stays true to its nature, no matter what its form. Constant Renewal Water never really disappears. It merely changes from one form to another in an endless cycle. It is constantly being reborn in the gentle rains and shimmering dew of morning. We can see each of our mornings as a renewal and recommitment to Life. Every new drop of rain brings with it an eternity. Every drop counts Water can be in a tiny glass or cover the entire ocean, but it's all made up of drops. No matter if it's one or a million, each drop is the same, yet unique; just like every one of us. Every drop of water makes the ocean stronger. What’s even more wonderful than knowing these elements are around us, is the realization that they are also within us. We are made up of all of those elements. They’re not just our teachers, they are US. So now that you see how wise and mystical the elements are around you, go out and really enjoy what the summer has to offer! The Blues "Everybody wants to know Why I sing the blues Yes, I say everybody wanna know Why I sing the blues Well, I've been around a long time I really have paid my dues." BB King- Why I Sing the Blues
In clinical diagnostic terms, there are different levels of depression. For people who are having trouble functioning and who have suicidal ideation, they will want to seek immediate medical help. The one wonderful thing about clinical depression is that it can be treated. For the purposes of this article and from the perspective of a life coach, I wish to write about very mild, existential or even transitory blues. Often the blues come from feeling that we want one set of experiences and in actuality we are experiencing another set of circumstances. Whenever we feel "distance" between these reference points often results in the blues. For example, if we desire to be journalism superstar, a distinguished and prolific household name, but we've just been turned down from the best journalism schools, the hope for what we want and what we are experiencing may seem to be at opposite ends of the continuum. The perceived disparity between these points of reference might tempt us to sink into a mild depression.
26
When we concentrate on embracing the now and all of the experiences inherent in this moment, we eliminate these two aforementioned reference points-including the distance between them. We no longer think "I need this" but instead "I have this." We simply allow ourselves to experience what is. If we want to develop even further, we may go so far as to actually embrace what is. My friend Lauren often reminds me that whatever my experiences are in my life that they are perfect for me. In the moment I am often tempted to resist this idea. In hindsight she is always right. When she affirms my life's perfection, she isn't being trite or flippant; she is honestly observing that the organic patterns in my life are perfect for me. In my mind's eye, the metaphoric imagery of perfect organic truth is represented by the sun. For example, the sun is always shinning in the summer but it is we who turn our back on it, not the other way around. Most of us will relate to the experience of thinking ultimately we are glad that the experience we wanted so desperately at the time (sometimes to the point of madness) didn't turn out the way we wanted it to. Maybe it involved a job we really wanted and didn't get that was a blessing in disguise. Perhaps it was a called off engagement that with today's perspective we wonder, "What the heck was I thinking!" In those instances, we were taken care of by the wisdom of Universe. Several months ago, I was watching the movie Enter the Dragon starring Jeet Kune Do master Bruce Lee with my mother. I'm still laughing about the fact that my mother turned around to me wide eyed and exclaimed "He's very attractive!" In any case, in the movie Lee affirmed that, "There is no opponent." When we are feeling blue, we have perceived our opponent as an idea about how we think things should be or how we think we should be. If we embrace what is, while keeping our hearts and minds open for possibility and alignment, we will probably be able to eliminate much of our low level angst. Embracing what is doesn't mean doing anything that puts you in physical or emotional danger nor is soul numbing. However, if you stop fighting with or resisting things you can't change, you might be able to. Dr. Jeanine Austin is a doctor of life coaching for women around the world. Whatever Happened to Summer Luvin'? Have you ever had one of those moments where somebody said something to you and it just didn't process? I mean, you understood the sentence; it was correct in grammar and style...it made sense and, yet, it didn't make sense either. You know, one of those comments where your initial reaction is to tilt your head to one side, scrunch up your forehead in a symbolic gesture that means, "What?" "Are you kidding?" "Did you really just say that?" and "Are you a total freak?" all rolled up into one. That happened to me several times at the end of this school year. Along with being a mental health counselor and writer, I have the privilege of teaching 8th grade history. Yes...I'm one of THOOOOOSE. You know, I'm guardian of my own universe (called a classroom), master of my domain (until the kids arrive), a potter attempting to shape the clay that enters my classroom (although I never knew "clay" could be so consistently tardy). Most school years end with basically the same things happening: the students that you thought hated you want you to sign their yearbook, kids regress into an even more primitive level of anarchy, the girls weep, the boys scramble to hug all the girls who are weeping...and the beat goes on. Yet, this year an alarming phenomenon occurred. I had several students comment on how they wish school was not ending and how they hated summers because summer was so boring. (Take a short moment here to remember the "look" described in the beginning of this article) Truly, I was dumbfounded by the statements. In fact, "tongue-hitting-the-floor" type dumbfounded.
 27
Take away the fact that the last day of the school year is, for most teachers I know, a day that is just below the second-coming of Christ in terms of significance. Let's forget that most teachers see the heavens open and hear the "Hallelujah Chorus" triumphantly playing in their heads as the students depart for the final time (even though we love them dearly). Let's just take all that away from this......and I'm still surprised. As I stretch my memory back (wayyyyy back) to my school years, none of this computes for me. I remember counting the days until school was out and summer had arrived. It was wonderful. Exhilarating. What we had all been waiting for. For my little group of hellions summer was a time of endless play and limitless fun. I would often leave home and not come back until the streetlights hummed and the crickets were chirping. Summer was about family vacations, church camp, swimming at the public pool, and riding your bike on countless adventures. There was no pressure inflicted by schoolwork, no deadlines, and far less social pressure. It was about playing baseball and grilling out. It was....fun. What happened? Why are kids entering summer break begrudgingly? Some humble opinions: 1. Limited Freedom: In this day and age parents are, unfortunately, wary of allowing their kids to run around outside like my generation did. In many ways, it's understandable. The media is filled with stories of the horrible things that some people do with children. Yet, these limits certainly contributed to pent-up energy and boredom. After all, you can only beat "Call of Duty" so many times before it gets old. 2. Pseudo-relationships online: Many kids have less real-life relationships nowadays and more that are online (i.e. Xbox Live). This is great, within limits, but nothing can replace the physical interaction of really being with your friends-seeing their facial expressions, body language and sharing real-life adventures together. Whether you play sports, go camping, ride bikes, or whatever. Online gaming is great but cannot replace the real thing.
them at this time. However, here are some ideas for curing summer boredom: 1. Get out! Make friends in your neighborhood. They are out there, lurking in their own air-conditioned houses, just as many of you. Get out there and meet them. You might find that there are lots of cool new friends that can help your summer become exciting, rather than mundane. 2. Be active: Staying in the house, incessantly playing video games or watching TV, all day long, every day, ad nauseum.......well, all it does is cause a build-up of stored energy that must be released. Don't settle for this. Get up and be active. Exercise makes you feel better all over and helps you to rest better, look better, get stronger, and allows you to build confidence. 3. Pour yourself into a hobby: Whether it is music, sports, working out, reading, writing, etc....find something you like and invest in it. Get better at it. Collect more of it. Expand your knowledge of it. Use the summer to move forward and upward in whatever it is that you like. 4. Join something you can look forward to: Martial Arts, sports teams, dance studios, YMCA, summer camps and the list goes on. It really helps to combat boredom when you have activities to look forward to. 5. Schedule family time: Even if you don't ever leave town, make quality family time a priority. ALL of you need this. 6. Organize several game nights: It could be a video game tournament at your house or a night of playing cards, laughing and acting crazy. Take the lead and get your friends together often. The key is to NOT get caught up in moping around the house, munching on junk food and spending 8 hours on Xbox...at least, not every day. Take the initiative to add lots of activities and relationships. Then, maybe next May you'll be counting down the days until school is over. Bring back the Summer Luvin'!!!
3. Economy pressures: Many families have fewer funds to put towards activities and vacations. Combine this dynamic with that fact that both parents are often working more than ever and there is a real disconnect in family relationships. Many families are so distant that there is little fun in the household which is truly tragic. Friends are wonderful but kids still need a strong bond with their families, even if they won't admit it. There are many other variables that contribute to this "boredom" issue. We just don't have space to cover

The Tantra Tip of the Month
Practicing the Art of Pleasure “Every moment is an opportunity to open and experience the joys of being on the Earth, or you can choose to close and miss all the pleasures the world has to offer.” ~ Crystal Dawn Morris Tantra teaches you that the body is a temple. One of the gifts of the body is the ability to feel pleasure through the senses--sight, sound, smell, touch and taste. Pleasure is an art worth developing. Being a “pleasure artist” is a natural human talent. It requires practice, however, to develop the skills of presence, finely tuned sensory awareness, and the capacity to enjoy pleasure for extended periods of time. According to women’s health expert Dr. Christiane Northrup, the author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, pleasure is crucial. It is an essential nutrient th at you need every day to maintain or regain your health. Ask yourself, “How much pleasure do I allow in my life?”
Pleasure requires practice. Why? Most people are praised for hard work and are shamed when they enjoy pleasure. D o you remember being a kid at play, enjoying the moment, when suddenly you were being yelled at to go do your chores? How many times did this scene happen to you as a child? Eventually, you may have gotten the message that it was not o.k. to play too long or enjoy pleasure too much. T hat’s why practicing pleasure may bring up resistance. Often people ass ociate pleasure with g uilt. You may wonder, “Am I being selfish or in dulgent?” If resistance arises, be with it. Embrace it as you would a wounded child. Allow the feelings to arise and express them in healthy ways, such as through movement, art or sharing with a friend. As the resistance releases, you may discover you have an even greater capacity for pleasure than you did before. Summer is a good time to begin practicing. It is a time to slow down. Feel the sun on your skin, eat fresh fruit, smell the jasmine on the wind and hear the crickets singing. It is a wonderful time to practice being more aware of your body and your senses .
29
When you commit to practicing pleasure regularly, you will become an expert at it.
10. Finally, celebrate your body by giving yourself orgasms. Orgasms heal. They release tension and produce hormo nes that balance the body-mind. They also reset your electromagnetic field and give you a sense of well-being.
Here are 10 Keys for Practicing the Art of Pleasure: 1. Practice being present and aware in each moment, instead of living in the past or future; the present moment is the only place pleasure can happen. 2. Open your body fully. Breathe into your belly, let go of tension. Do this several times a day and you will begin to notice if you start to close.
When you orgasm regularly, you vibrate with pleasure. As you radiate pleasure, others feel it and begin to experience pleasure as well. The world is starving for joy and pleasure. We can’t make other people change, but we can change ourselves. Through our willingness to practice pleasure, others will be inspired.
3. Take pleasure breaks often during the day. Discover the simple pleasures that you have been overlooking. Learn what gives you pleasure.
Together, we can create a world that honors pleasure and sees the value in practicing it daily. Let’s create a more loving, ecstatic world together.
4. Hone your sensory awareness. Focus on a particular sense and see how much you can engage and expand it. Keep a sensory awareness journal. See how much you can increase your awareness and capacity for pleasure.
Practice these 10 Keys and notice how your life changes. Share them with your friends and coworkers. I look forward to hearing from you. Please write me at crystalm@magnifyyou.com and let me know what you discover. It has been my pleasure to shar e this with you. Hugs!
5. See through fresh eyes. Be curious and innocent, like a child. Children find wonder in the world. See the mystery all around you. 6. Challenge yourself to feel pleasure in unlikely situations, like while stuck in traffic or sitting through a long meeting.

If you notice negative thoughts, pause and make a conscious choice to refocus your attention. Focus on your breathing, let go of resistance and begin to circulate your breath throughout your body, expanding your aliveness. Feel your energy beginning to flow beyond your physical body. See how expansive you can be. 7. Touch is sacred. Give yourself a 3-5 minute mini-massage at least once a day. Find a friend who wants to trade massages. Hug often, share touch with those open to receiving it. 8. Eat slowly and allow yourself to savor each bite. Food can be erotic. 9. Look deeply into your beloved’s eyes, see beyond form and personality. Know they are the Divine, in form. Let them be a mirror for you to see the Divine in yourself as well.

A Shift in Thinking
fascinating ways in which money affects our thoughts and behaviour.
This month, I would like to share with you some very interesting and powerful information about our psychology about money. I feel this is very appropriate given our current times and energy in the world.
In the first, participants were subjected to one of social scientists' favourite ruses: the apparently pointless task. They were simply asked to drag a circle across a computer screen as many times as they could in five minutes (Heyman & Ariely, 2004).
It is shown in several studies that people inhabit two separate worlds when it comes to value- the social and the financial - and depending on which one is activated, their thoughts and behaviour can change dramatically. After doing some research into these studies, it reminded me of an experience I had a few years back. A friend agreed to help me with a project I had been working on for months. I had been buried and was seeking some relief by delegating some of the easier tasks that would free up my time. My friend gladly assisted me. I had expected to finalize the project within a couple weeks but as things go, it ended up taking almost 2 months to reach completion. I felt terrible about having to rely on my friend so much for help, but it was greatly appreciated. We never discussed payment for services but I felt as though I definitely owed him something for his hard work and dedication. On the last day, I wrote my friend a check and handed it to him. He was strangely not impressed, even though I thought I had been quite generous. I had in some way offended him but until later I did not realize in what manner. You see my friend had been operating in the social world - he thought he'd been helping me out as a friend. My paying him for his time signalled that I didn't see our relationship as primarily operating in social terms, but rather in financial, market-based terms. This wasn't what I'd intended at all - I had grossly misread the situation. When money doesn't motivate This chasm between our social and financial worlds has been explored in two recent studies that uncover
The experiment compared three different groups in which the payment for this mind-numbing task was as follows: 1. Given $5 for participating. 2. Given 50 cents for participating. 3. Asked to participate 'as a favour'. When the researchers looked at how many circles each group, on average, had dragged across the screen, sure enough money was a motivator. Those paid $5 averaged 159 circles into the box, while those paid 50 cents only dragged 101 circles. So far, so obvious. The interesting result comes with those who were asked to participate 'as a favour'. This group dragged an average of 168 circles into the box. That means the group asked to participate as a favour did about the same amount of 'work' as those paid $5. Why? Professors Heyman and Ariely argue that people have a mental split between their social and financial worlds. Different rules apply depending on whether people are trading in hard currency, contracts and delivery dates; or, alternatively, in friendships, trust or other social connections. When the value of a gift doesn't matter To see how different the rules are in the two worlds, have a look at a second experiment carried out by Heyman and Ariely (2004). Again this involved the circle dragging task, but this time the experimenters wanted to look at the effects of different types of gifts on how hard people would work.
 31
With gifts we move from the financial world back to the social world. The question is: do people work harder if the gift is bigger? In this experiment there were three conditions where participants were given: 1. Godiva chocolates (worth about $5). 2. A snickers bar (worth about 50 cents). 3. Nothing but asked to participate 'as a favour'. This time there was no statistical difference between the groups - each dragged about the same number of circles: all three groups averages were in the 160s. This shows that in the social world, thank-you gifts don't need to be commensurate with the task performed. Whereas in the financial world, you only get what you pay for. Just flipping from a 'payment' of 50 cents to a 'gift' of a snickers bar is enough to start people thinking socially, rather than financially. As a result people were more motivated by a gift worth 50 cents than they were by 50 cents in cash. Money makes us less socially-minded It's not just in motivation to perform tasks that money has important effects; it's also in how we behave socially. In the second study, Professor Kathleen Vohs from the University of Minnesota and colleagues wanted to see how people's behaviour changed when they were subliminally primed to think about money (Vohs, Mead & Goode, 2006). Professor Vohs and colleagues actually carried out seven separate experiments but they all followed the same pattern. First participants were unconsciously prompted to think about money in some way, and then some aspect of their behaviour was measured. In one experiment, for example, participants had to unscramble phrases, some of which involved money, and others not. On the way out of the lab, participants were told that the University student fund was collecting, and there was a box outside for them to donate if they liked. The results showed that those who had been subconsciously prompted to think about money donated less. These results were repeated in the six other scenarios, where people reminded about money, compared to others, were more likely to:
o o o
Believe others should be more self-sufficient. Offer other people who need it less help. Try to complete a task on their own, waiting longer to ask other people for help.
This study shows how easily people move from thinking socially to thinking financially with the result that they focus mainly on themselves and their own needs. The effects of even these subtle unconscious reminders about money are enough to change people's behaviour quite drastically. In just the same way, economics students - who presumably spend a lot of time thinking about money have been shown to act more selfishly than students of other disciplines (Frank et al., 1993). It doesn't take much of a mental leap to conclude that people who work in jobs which continually remind them about money will, on average, be more self-focussed than others. Social versus financial So, whether we realise it or not, we simultaneously inhabit two completely different worlds. In the social world we are more likely to help people out just because they ask and because it makes us feel good. In the financial world, however, it's all a matter of contracts, payments and let the 'buyer beware' - in this world you only get what you pay for, and sometimes not even that. Being aware of when, and if, we're moving between these two worlds can help us negotiate each more easily. Certainly I now realise that when I moved flat I would have been much better off giving my friend a gift, rather than money. Because sometimes money just pushes all the wrong buttons. Analyse defeat and find the lesson One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat Do not allow fear to dominate thinking One must develop the state of mind which will attract riches
And finally; all the philosophy that Napoleon Hill examined clearly indicates that:
You Can Overcome the Financial Crisis It is said that when the pupil is ready the teacher appears. My latest teacher is a book that I recommend everyone read. A successful person I know says this book is the guide to success he follows. He is financially secure. The world has changed. Concern about terrorism has been replaced with the greatest financial crisis since the end of WW2. My parents and grandparents would often mention the Great Depression beginning in 1929. Today the economic situation is being compared to this. The book is, 'Think and Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill and published in 1937. An all time classic that has sold more copies around the world and been responsible for the creation of more millionaires than any other book in history.
Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage. It is time to 'Think and Grow Rich!' Marilyn Martyn has been a teacher for over thirty-five years teaching English to five year olds through to adults. Her concern is for the children, teenagers and adults who did not learn the basics of reading in their early years of schooling. Her website is a reading resource and she invites interested parents and others to view the contents. Marilyn is also an accomplished speaker. Like reading and writing skills, public speaking skills add to a person's chances of getting the best from what life has to offer. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Marilyn_E. _Martyn
Hill was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie to interview the most successful people in the country at the time and publish his findings. I feel the current financial crisis will force us look at the fundamental values that prosperity has allowed us to ignore. Thirteen principles about wealth accumulation are published in this book. The book's purpose is not to entertain but should be studied, absorbed and meditated upon. Hill states that the Law of Economics neither recognises nor tolerates for long GETTING WITHOUT GIVING. This Law is a natural not man made one. It hands out both penalties for its violation and appropriate rewards for its observance. The Law cannot be repealed. Some of the principles that Napoleon Hill outlines in his book are: • • • •
There is no such thing as something for nothing We have the power to control our thoughts The only limitations we have are those we set up in our own minds. Keep on keeping on. It is a lesson most of us have to learn

park, just to name a few - all just served to reinforce this one essential truth we all give lip service to, but most of us don't really live: All that really matters is spending time with people you love. 3) Take a risk and live your dreams. As psychiatrists, the saddest things my husband and I saw in our practices were people who put off their dreams until they retired, but then, tragedy struck - whether illness or death of a spouse - and it was too late. Maybe this is a rare opportunity to stop putting off your dreams. Is there something you've always wanted to do but the moment never seemed right?
The Upside of Downsizing A recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found that 56% of Americans say the recession has forced them into changing their lifestyles - and over half of them are angry about it. The recession has hit all of us, and as awful as it is, especially for those who have lost their jobs or homes, it can be possible for something good to come out of all this misery. I know this, not only as a psychiatrist, but as someone who has downsized her life from a large, supposed dream house, to a 340 square foot RV - and is much happier for it. Here are some tips to not only survive, but hopefully thrive through the recession: 1) Get Over It. By all means, get angry and grieve - not only for what you've already lost, but also for the life you thought you were going to have. But, you know what? You also have to accept the new reality of
the way things are going to be, or you won't be able to figure out how to make the best of it. And, there are ways to not only make the best of it, but come out stronger and happier than you've ever been. 2) Potential wake-up call. Studies have shown that how much we earn and the things we possess don't make us any happier, rather it's our connections with others and feeling like we have a purpose in life that really matters to our overall sense of well-being. So, why not use any current economic setback as a chance to really reassess your life? Have you been spending most of your time supporting a lifestyle rather than supporting relationships and experiences? This can be a time to figure out what you really need in life vs. what you think you have to have. When we returned from what was supposed to be only a year-long RV adventure, we unpacked boxes and boxes of stuff we hadn't missed, let alone thought about. Even the disasters we had on our trip - a fire, an armed robbery, and finding ourselves in a nudist RV
If you've been laid off or have to move, maybe now is the time to take a risk with something that would have felt much too scary if you were still tied down. If you were someone who always complained about your job, use that energy to go for it and take some risks now. It's so important to keep challenging and stretching ourselves. Even if you're happy with your chosen field, you can still look for new ways to do the same things: Going back for more education, getting more experience by volunteering. Use this as an opportunity to think about your life - including your work life - in a different way. When we returned from our lifechanging trip, Tim and I were (and pardon the technical jargon here) majorly bummed. We had planned to sell the bus, but somehow just couldn't bring ourselves to. Then, we spent some long vacations in it and found that every time we returned to our stationary home, we missed bus life terribly.
 34
Then, the recession hit and we realized: Why keep working to support an expensive lifestyle, when we had discovered a much cheaper one we loved much more? This summer, our "dream" house goes on the market so we can live a new and better dream - in our bus. I hope our experience inspires you to find you own "inner bus." Achieving Personal Effectiveness Through Personal Mastery Have you ever wondered why some people seem to accomplish so much while others struggle along barely able to attend to their daily needs? Highly effective people usually fulfill their achievements with less work and effort than those who accomplish little. The difference lies in their individual effectiveness. How you manage yourself at work defines your personal effectiveness, and is a prerequisite to outstanding performance - whatever your level of seniority. Building self-awareness, identifying areas where you can maximize your contribution, gaining access to key skills and techniques - all are critical to improving your personal performance. Achieving peak performance through personal mastery begins with selfawareness of oneself. Mastery does not happen by accident. It is a process that occurs as we interact effectively with the events and circumstances of our lives. Masters are the victors of life, those who step up to the challenges and opportunities of life with the courage, determination, and wisdom to win in all spheres of life. You see, each moment of our lives provides an opportunity to practice mastery by expanding our visions, awakening the faculties of our minds and our hearts, and assuming full responsibility for living, growing, and contributing to life. Personal effectiveness means making the most of all personal resources at our disposal - our personal talents, energy and time relative to what's most important to us. It is like money management or investment - we want to get the best return on our resources. As with managing money, we can
 35
either drift through life making ad hoc decisions or we can set time aside periodically to review our investments. As a great philosopher once said, "Personal effectiveness is not about sacrificing spontaneity or opportunism to be super organized if this is not your style. It's more a matter of taking whatever steps that fit your style to give you the feeling that you are making best use of your talents, energy and time". As the saying goes, "being successful is in the eyes of the beholder" - for some it means having a satisfying personal life, for others it is some form of career success that drives them. The only right answer is the one that makes you happy. The big question is: How happy are you with your life right now? Are you personally fulfilled in what you are doing presently? How much enthusiastic are you about what you do? You see, enthusiasm is a positive emotion that sparks like fire in achieving your goals. You cannot be fulfilled in doing what you hate. No matter how much you are being paid, the totality of the satisfaction you derive in doing what you are not passionate about is a life without fulfillment. Your personal effectiveness has a lot to do with your personal leadership. In my previous articles, we made it clear that you are the leader of your own life. You are the custodian and steward of your life given to you by your creator. The ability to take full responsibility of your own life is an evidence of your self-leadership on display and this makes you highly effective as a person. Let us examine some other key determinants to achieving personal effectiveness: Have a clear-cut vision: Know what you want out of life and vividly picture yourself achieving it. This calls for a purposeful living because if you do not know where you are going, any road can take you there. Success and progress towards achieving your goals in life begin with knowing where you are going. Many people go about their lives trying to do everything and then end up being a master of none. Having a clearcut vision of your life is an indisputable first step of becoming highly effective because it makes you to be mentally focused in one direction. Put first thing first: The first step in putting first things first is to identify the "first things" in your life by prioritizing your projects and tasks. The second, and often the hardest step, is to actually put the "first things" first: to live your priorities.
engaging in unnecessary activities that will steal your time. Remember that you can do almost anything, but you cannot do everything. Whenever you start a task, you are automatically giving up everything else you could have done during that time. The best practice of putting first things first means taking conscious control of your choices and choosing to spend more time on the projects and tasks that are important and valuable, and less time on the ones that are not as important or valuable. Thinking outside the box is a clichĂŠ or catchphrase used to refer to looking at a problem from a new perspective. The catchphrase has become widely used in business environments, especially by management consultants and executive coaches, and has spawned a number of advertising slogans. Anyway, you should know that you cannot do without thinking, and not just ordinary thinking, but creative thinking that produces creative ideas. To be highly effective, you must learn to see problems from a new perspective that it does not stifle your creativity. A creative mind thinks outside the box and it does not see limitations. It cannot be caged by problems or setbacks. Thinking outside the box is an individual choice, and it begins by thinking differently in every situation that confronts your way. Personal development: Committing to lifelong selfimprovement is one vital key of becoming highly effective. As they say, "knowledge is power". What you don't know is greater than you until you discover it. Personal development is about adding value to life. It exposes ignorance and ushers you into the realm of knowing. Commit to learning all you can and be the best in your profession. For example, if you are an accountant, learn all you can and study to become a chartered accountant. Aim to always be at the top, and become an expert in whatever you do.

Asking for something that we want can sometimes be seen as taking a risk. And in order to be successful, we know that we have to take risks. It truly scares me to think of all the outcomes that could have happened and all of the things I could have had, but I was too afraid to ask. When you start to contemplate this, it will become more painful NOT to ask for what you want, than it is to take the risk of asking. Another dilemma I often have and also see in others is knowing when to give up asking for what you want after repeatedly hearing no. There is a part of me that says, "never give up", because I do believe that people really want to say yes to you eventually, or they get tired of saying no! And if you give up before they do say yes, you'll never really know if you could have gotten what you were asking for. A marketing study done at Notre Dame University found the following statistics: • 44% of all salespeople quit trying after the first call • 24% quit after the second call • 14% quit after the third call • 12 % quit after the fourth call This means that 94% of all salespeople quit after the fourth call, but there is another statistic that finds 60% of all sales are made AFTER the fourth call! How many sales were lost because people stopped asking?
Learn to Ask For What You Want By Diane Hindman "Learn to ask for what you want. The worst people can do is not give you what you ask for which is precisely where you were before you asked." Peter McWilliams Why are we so afraid to ask for what we want in life? For most of us, it's the fear of rejection. We hate to hear the word "no" and we take it so personally. I believe part of the reason is because as children we hear the word no so often; it becomes ingrained in our soul as painful and something to be avoided at all cost. But what does it really mean when someone tell us no? As McWilliams states in the aforementioned quote, all it really means is that we're still in the same place as when we started - not better off, but not worse off either. So that means that we have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Many of us just need to learn how to ask for what we want. Here are some surefire tips to get you started: 1. Expect that you will receive what you are asking for. 2. Make sure the person you are asking is the decision maker. 3. Be clear and specific. 4. Be persistent. 5. Don't give up. Most of the time someone tells you "no", it has nothing to do with you personally. They could be having a bad day, they could be low on funds that month, there may not be enough trust or rapport in the relationship yet or they may not understand what you are asking for. None of these reasons is remotely personal, yet we tend to take it that way. Life is short; it's time to start asking for what we want! Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Diane_Hindman

Memorable Moments When I think of “networking” I think of relationships. Do you? Or do you, like most p eople, think about “whatcha gonna get?”
cough.” If I had a nickel for every time I ha ve heard that, I would have paid for all three of my kid’s college tuition.
You’ve seen those types of people at events, I know you have. They are rushing aroun d, d ressed up like a fancy limo driver, trying to make as many contacts as they can, using that fake Las Vegas smile, you know the same one they use when you go back to the window to ge t s ome more chips, and they are acco mplishing nothing.
The sad part about that is people do not take the time to establish the rel ationship and assess if I even have a need for what t hey are selling. S o, here are 5 “Memorable Moments” you are trying to create when you are out and about networking.
Do you know why? It’s about the relationships y ou are trying to build with the individual’s, not about how many contacts that you make. A nybody can stick their paw out and ask for business cards, but the secret lies in the follow up that is completed after the initial contact.
The first step in effective networking is creating a “mental memory hook.” This is something th at you want to instill in the other person’s mind that will help you create a small bond or feeling with the other person. What you will do is trigger a m emory re sponse that will make the other person r emember you when you follow up with them.
The one thing I have a hard time with is when I meet people at different networking events, and th ey pr omise to contact me about something they think I’ll find interesting.” Aaaacckk, cough,

can say something like, “Hi Bill, this is Chanel. I met you the other day at the networking event. Remember me? I was the woman who was wearing the polka dot suit with the ferocious pink hat.” Now should you decide to go this route I can guarantee you two things? 1. No one will forget what you wore and 2. They most certainly will remember you. If you don’t want to be remembered this way then you must make an impression as being warm and sincere while presenting a business like attitude. This is accomplished by listening more than talking and asking investigatory questions without being obtrusive. You might call this the difference between guiding a conversation and dominating a conversation.
perceived benefit and value they would receive from you. This means that the other person would gain something from knowing you. This “something” is anything that the other person could use, operate, grow, save, multiply, give, make, create... etc. It’s important to remember that whatever it is that you have to offer, it must be of a benefit to the other person. You don’t “get something”; they “get something.” I personally like to introduce them to someone that can help them. I think this is one of the best ways to create a “Memorable Moment.” People remember you when you help them. And what better way than to introduce them to someone else that can use their product or service, help them gain a sale or even introduce them to a future business partner.
Once you demonstrate a A fourth “Memorable “Be the person other people positive interest in the Moment” that I think is other person they will be important is the “What like to do business with…” happy to take your call are we going to do now when you follow up with that we have met” or them, and the good thing about it is that you more commonly know as the follow up. don’t have to dress up like a circus clown for people to remember who you are. If, after creating an effective memory hook, and being professional and helping the other person, you don’t follow up with them, what’s the point? Art at Its Most Magnificent Usually when I design a home, the art is first or last. I think that is all wrong, but it happens that way more often than not. Currently, I am designing two rooms around art, that hasn’t yet been acquired. I would like to arrange for a painting that is huge - 17’ x 19’ and place a long beautifully shaped bench or day bed under it so the large painting and the plane of the seating have a clear and stunning relationship. That is all well and good.
However, if at any time another alternative comes to light, you’ll drop the pers on you don’t li ke faster than an online dating service drops a married person, or faster than a government signs a spending bill, or faster than you can say “No thanks” to a telemarketer after dinner, or fa ster than you can drop a twenty in Starbucks…do you get my d rift?! But the real wonderment and appreciation lies in the non-material properties of a painting, a sculpture, or the article of expression at hand. The inner meaning, the possibly undisclosed tale, is where sometimes true art lies; whether that is rooted in the cerebral corridors of the artist’s mind, the real scene behind the scene, the message, or the coded secrets beyond the material’s surface. I have such a painting in my home. I call it “The Painting of the Gate near Alsace” There is a painting I have inspected and wondered about since I was a child. It has been in various parts of the home I grew up in and has gone through a few incarnations in various frames. It is a painting of a gate and a view of a valley with nothing around it. The focus is the trail that leads to the vista. It is painted on a

Her love interest brokered a deal with the US government and moved to Glendale, California with her. All his Nazi paraphernalia, the Mercedes which he used when conducting official business during the war, and many other haunting pieces of highly prized Nazi articles; the artifacts that represented such hate and horror, were displayed in their garage and were dusted and waxed regularly. As a very young child, I used to see this and didn't really understand what it all meant, but I did know it was evil, and was not under any circumstances to speak of it to anyone. Sadly, Odile had to leave her father behind in the camp to meet whatever fate he was dealt. My mother was able to escape with some other officers, and they made their way to North Africa to fight against Rommel's shaky front on that continent. Miraculously, Odile's father escaped death and was not sent off to the main extermination camp, and continued on in the camp until they were liberated. wooden board that has since warped. The slight vertical splits can be viewed from the front as well. There is a combination of German and French writing illegibly scrawled on the back of it. I have a curious memory of my mother always taking this painting down and checking the back of it and wiping that area. I thought this very strange as she never appeared to do this with any other framed pieces. Often I would ask her, “What is this all about, and what does it say on the back? She would reply - "I will tell you when you are ready to hear it." I was an impatient child and rather than wait and be frustrated, I decided it was no longer interesting enough for me to be bothered to find out.
In the early fifties, he went back to the place where he never lost his spirit, but nearly lost his mind, and certainly lost his daughter. He returned to the most inhumane place he ever knew and lovingly painted the plein-air several years after the war was over. He painted the entrance to the internment camp, but reframed the scene; rather than the barbed wire, ominous gates, and the atmosphere of the atrocities that took place there, he depicted a lovely and serene valley, with a gate free and wide open. The doors of the gate are small and narrow but the opening to the path is wide. No buildings or other distractions to stop your eye traveling to the horizon. He painted it as a gift to his beloved daughter so she would know that he forgave her for falling in love and leaving with the enemy and leaving him, and others like them, behind.
After a few years, a friend of my mother's named Odile, who was also originally from France paid a rare visit. She saw the painting and burst into tears. My interest was piqued once again. While behaving as if I was not listening in on their conversation I found out that Odile gave the painting to my mother because it was too painful for her to keep. The chain of events the painting belies is grisly, bizarre, and political. Yet, the painting was painted in the spirit of forgiving the unforgivable.
Odile's father later gave it to my mother as he was near the end of his life and knew that my mother would find Odile and present the painting to her, which she did. It was not difficult to track Odile down as there were many individuals who were tracking the movements of Odile's husband. And while the painting was created in a message of forgiveness, Odile couldn't forgive herself, and she didn't feel worthy of the gift.
It turned out that the piece was painted by Odile's father. The story was that Odile, her father and my mother were held in a Nazi internment camp near Alsace, France. My mother was a captured intelligence officer with the Free French and Odile and her father were French Jews that were interned there.
This is the story of how I received the painting that I still have in my home. As I take it down to clean it or just straighten it, I am reminded of the deep well of forgiveness the human spirit resonates. As much as I am reminded of the well, just as deep, this same spirit creates in order to block the greatest human gift - the art of forgiveness.
My mother was not in the same barracks, but for some reason, my mother and Odile's father knew each other. Young, beautiful Odile caught the eye of and later fell for one of the high ranking Nazi German officials.

Tend Your Garden Well Your life is like a garden; whatever you plant in it is exactly what it will produce. This is so true. Whatever you sow, you will reap. It is the Law of Reciprocity in action. God's law, set in motion from the very beginning. Look at where it got Adam and Eve-- booted out of paradise. Bad choices have consequences to go along with them. And the sooner we realize that and start making good choices, the better off we will be. I am reminded of this law of reaping and sowing every time I go out and have to pull weeds out of my flower beds. I really hate weeding. I don't like having to get down on my hands and knees and pluck, pull and sometimes wrestle with those little aggravating, persistent things that grow where everything else won't. But it has to be done. In order to enjoy the beauty of my flowers, I have to take the time and tend my garden. So, while I am out there doing the dreaded chore, I think and pray. I think of all the weeds I have sown in my own life and in the lives of those I love. I think about all the times I said something I shouldn't have said. I think about all the things I did that I shouldn't have done. I think about the ugly weeds that have poked their unsightly heads up in my life, or in my loved one's lives, that I had a hand in planting.
As you can see, weeding is an especially daunting task for me. But it is also a necessary one. It makes me realize how foolish and how serious our actions can be. One little negative, harsh, condemning, or condescending word we say can cause major problems later on. With that unique little gardening tool called the tongue, we can plant so very many seeds, many of which can be devastating to the garden that they are sown in. With just our words we are able to sow discouragement, doubt, insecurity, fear, hate, jealousy, anger, distrust, lies...and the list goes on. And all of those seeds grow in the garden in which they are planted, sometimes being very destructive and at times even devastating.
 43
I recently read about an 11 year boy who killed himself because of the teasing and cruel words of some of his peers. He simply couldn't take the pain, the hurt, the discouragement, and the insecurity that had sprung up inside of him due to what was carelessly sown by others. Seeds sown. Weeds grown. Life gone. Just like that. The seeds we sow have more of an effect than what we realize. And, we will be held accountable for every word said, every deed done, every seed sown. We will reap the harvest for every seed we sow. It may not happen right away, but believe me, every seed counts. Just like the old cliche' says, "What goes around, comes around", what you do and say will come back to you.
Baby Boomers in Midlife Transition A Message from Our Fifth Chakra The throat area, the fifth chakra, is the part of the body in which we literally "find our voice." Here we begin to set up our future. I see this chakra closely related to the answer to the question of -- What do you REALLY want?
You see, God holds us responsible for our words and actions. He expects us to say and do what is right. To treat others as we wish to be treated. To love one another. To be kind to one another. The law of reaping and sowing is a law He established and it cannot be avoided.
The secret to unlocking this key to reinvention is discovering that you already DO know what you want.
The Bible tells us in Galatians 6:7-10: "Don't be misledyou cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone-especially to those in the family of faith."
There are several things you can do to get clear on what you want. The first is to stop saying "I don't know". Just notice how often you say that and then say, "If I did know, what would it be." You'll be amazed at what's already inside you.
We need to be mindful of what we sow, because we will get back a harvest. Weeds or flowers. Good fruit or bad fruit. The choice is ours. We control the garden of our life. We have to live on the crop of what we have sown. We have to pay the price for the sins we commit. So, be careful where you sow, what you plant, and how well you tend your garden. Your life depends on the harvest it will bring forth! Cindy Biggar, author, songwriter and lead singer for Christian band Serving6, stresses how important it is to Have Faith. Until you get clear on what you want, the Universe has no way of giving it to you.
I once heard a story about a dinner guest who asked the host for salt. The host proceeded to send him to the kitchen and told him he'd find it in the upper cabinet. The guest told himself that he didn't know where to look, and of course, therefore, never found the salt. It was right in front of him. Our lives are like that. When we tell ourselves we don't know our minds are always on our side and wanting to make us right. So, what we want to know stays hidden from us. The mere act of asking, "What would it be if I did know", tells your unconscious mind that you are ready to receive an answer. And, I have found it amazing at times, but the answer is always forthcoming. Give voice to what you KNOW rather than continually saying I don't know. Your life will be guided. I would like to offer a support system to help you get clear on what you do know and find your own wisdom in Midlife. In fact, I'm all about creating a new Midlife paradigm. Going Organic Can Sometimes Be Out of Your Control There will come a time when you do everything right for your vegetable garden, family, pets, kids and so on, to make sure you are going as "organic" as possible, only to have something out of your control happen. I lead with this because it happened to me just yesterday. I have a good amount of grass to grow as do all my neighbors. I took the time to change my mower blade to a mulching blade so I would not have to bag the clippings and can actually have them serve a purpose and that is to provide nutrients to the lawn as they decay as well as provide food for the ecosystem in the soil. It is a win-win situation for everybody or should I say everybody and everything.
So I am sitting at my kitchen table yesterday afternoon, I look out the window and notice that the lawn service for my neighbor shows up. I just figured they were there to cut, edge, trim and all of that good stuff, but instead they rolled out a huge hose and started spraying some kind chemical all over their lawn. When I questioned them about it, they said it was to keep mosquitoes and other insects at "bay". Now granted I have lived in my house for over seven years and I can tell you I have never had any problems with insects and I have never used any chemicals to treat my lawn. So this raises the big organic or non-organic debate that goes round and round.
My neighbor pays for a service to dump some chemical on the lawn that "kills" things. Sure they say only insects, but it is created for the sole purpose of "killing" something. How much of that chemical is needed to kill larger living things, like say rabbits, birds, or even Fido the family pet. They will say it is safe because they use it, but I doubt that they even know what's in it. My point is this; here you have my neighbor who pays to have chemicals sprayed on his lawn to keep bugs in check. Yet just a mere twenty feet from him is me, and I use nothing on my lawn and have no problems with any kinds of insects. Maybe because I don't put down something harmful that keeps the
 45
birds away which hunt the insects and eats them. I have been using organic style methods on my lawn for a number of years and my grass is stronger, thicker, greener and more healthier than it has ever been and here is the best part, it actually has saved me time, effort and money in the process. I don't have to pay someone to drop chemicals to make my lawn look good and I don't have bag up my grass to be put in a landfill. Every time I cut my grass it's like fertilizing it naturally. You could say it is like taking care of two tasks at the same time. When next year rolls around and my neighbor needs his grass to turn green he will call upon his trusty lawn service and pay them the fee they charge which I am sure is a lot, while I will sit back watch my green grass grow for the mere cost it takes to run the lawn mower. The Power of Youth Entrepreneurship It is so easy to be caught up in the moment and overwhelmed with what we deal with on a daily basis. Many in society have made self-absorption its own art form. Yet we are lucky enough to have a few selfless, future-minded individuals who have their eyes on the ball. They realize that we aren’t nurturing the most important resource for when we are finally ready to throw in the towel and leave the daily grind of the workforce behind. Our future lies in the hands of today’s youth. These people understand that youth entrepreneurship can change the future for many who wouldn’t have considered success an option without that chance. Years ago, there used to be kids on the side of the road running their own lemonade stand. Sure, they got their supplies from mom, but they put the stand together, waited for and served their customers. They had a natural drive to earn their own money. The natural drive didn’t always end there, either. Teens used to be able to earn a decent amount of spending money simply by knocking on their neighbor’s doors and offering to mow the lawn for a modest fee. The desire and drive to earn and succeed is born into every child. The lemonade stand on the side of the road is much more difficult to find these days and teens don’t have either the drive or the opportunity to earn extra cash from some good old fashioned yard work. Most families have two working parents and aren’t at home, mom and dad find it easier to just give kids what they need or the opportunity just isn’t present. Our young people are in desperate need of youth entrepreneurships in order to be able to become well-rounded individuals prepared to succeed and appreciate success as adults. Existing youth entrepreneurship programs already recognize the values offered by such a program including being able to understand taking the initiative, being an individual and the importance of community.

With good mentors and programs, every child can le arn how to find their own way to success and prosperity. Any individual or business that opens up their workplace to young people in order to provide education and guidance is making a positive im pact on the young people of their community and an investment in the future. Young people are able to understand and develop their own interest in business, learn new skills, develop ideas and how to b ecome a le ader. The benefits of a youth entrepreneurship program can be beneficial for both the business owner and participants in the program. Our communities need to recogniz e that a link between e ducation, the community and the workplace exists and it is a valuable one. Mentors are the key to showing young people how everything works together in order to successfully reach a single common goal. entrepreneurship Youth programs are able to show young people this link and the positive impact it can have on not just today, but the future as well. Finding Your Entrepreneurial Compass Scott Evans is an inventor, educator and entrepreneur who has made a career out of success. Known as the “Working Inventor”, his first hit invention was a compact, portable gym called the “Body Bow”. He thought this was his million dollar idea; it turned out to be a $75 million dollar idea which grossed millions in its first few months of sales. He was bitten by the inventing/entrepreneur bug at age 9 when he built his first prototype, a flying Radio Flyer wagon, which was later im mortalized in the blockbuster movie, “Radio Flyer”. He currently has three products on the shelf in stores around America, and more than twenty other products in various stages of development and release, ranging fr om exercise equipment to b oard games to a series of ingenious kitchen gadgets. Scott's better-way-of-life curriculum is in use in schools and prison rehab courses in California. A similar curriculum is also in use by the First Nations (Native Indians) in B.C., Canada. S cott is truly a man who knows how to manifests things; he doesn’t just sit around having a cappuccino; he says “That’s a good idea, let’s make that happen”, and he does it. He is a man who definitely walks his talk. A s an entrepreneur, Scott knows that business owners and inventors are searching for the “missing link” to a successful launch of an idea for a product, service or business only to be left with even more questions. H e knows that one of the most important questions to ask when deciding to venture out into the world of an entrepreneur is – “What criteria do successful people apply to a given situation or set of circumstances?” Through interviews and research, Scott distilled the criteria that business men and women, inventors and service providers have b een using in order to make the biggest gains in the shortest amount of time while handling the inevitable obstacles that seem to “jump out” at you when least expected. W e asked him to explain to us his take on success, and how do people accomplish success going from one level of success to the other; “In the past, when I would see people accomplish something, whether big or small, I wondered how people achieved succ ess at a ny level; how they achieve it and how they get to the next level.
47
48
I was asked one day, after seeing (the movie) The Opus; “What is it about those people that can get to the next level?” Then my driver asked me; “How do people live at the next level? What exactly is the next level?”” He started researching the criteria that entrepreneurial people use to become successful, and he started to see that he was “hanging around” some really amazing people; he took a step back and realized, “Wow! These guys are really successful and I’m learning a lot.” When that realization occurred, he began to take note of what framework these successful individuals were operating under and he came up with an idea called “The Entrepreneurial Compass”; which, he told us is “where you plot a course and then you plot your success”. He further explained that the results from applying this are that people are not just successful in one area of life; they’re successful in all areas of life. We talked about the “hiccups” in achieving our goals to which he explained that “we all have hiccups in life”, but that we have to ask ourselves; “In my personal life, how do I want to express myself personally?” He further went on to tell us that we must ask ourselves, “How do I want to express myself in the area of business and finance, and as a family?” then go a little deeper and ask “How do I want to express myself in groups?” There is a very interesting and common thread which successful individuals have and it was also the next thing which Scott looked into as he delved into his research, and that is the idea of contribution. He found that the area of contribution is a predominant thought in the lives of all entrepreneurs. He found that all successful entrepreneurs were following the same criteria in all aspects of their lives. They are all applying the same techniques and they are applying these techniques in the area of contribution; and they are also applying the techniques in the areas of their personal lives, with their families, and in their finance and business lives. Scott explains; “One thing that I have found with those that are very successful is a common thread; it doesn’t
matter what area they are successful in, there’s a common thread of giving back.” He further went on to tell us that a lot of people don’t realize how much successful people do give back, and what they receive back from giving. It was through this step that Scott had enough “material” and The Entrepreneurial Compass was born. As our conversation continued on, we changed directions a little and turned to the area of spirituality, especially karma. Scott explained that most of us understand that karma works on the premise of “what goes around, comes around” or “you reap what you sow”; he told us that he was reading a book by Howard Cutler, who is a psychiatrist who spent a lot of time with the Dalai Lama, called “The Art of Happiness”, and that what he read in the book about karma really “clinched” it for him. Howard Cutler asked the Dalai Lama about the issue of karma and what karma meant. The Dalai Lama explained that karma means action; karma is a very active process. “In other words, the type of future that will come about, to a large extent, lies in our own hands, in the present. It will be determined by the kinds of initiatives we take now.” He explained that as we operate on that definition of karma, and move forward from there, it becomes a mind set. He further went on to explain that people go into business pursuits wondering why they don’t succeed. He said that they think that “people are lucky, but they’re not; they’re applying the karma criteria to their pursuits”. One very important thing that we can all agree on is to have a mentor in life and especially for business. Scott told us that when we look for a mentor, to carry out the task of seeking the “perfect fit” for a mentor in an interview type situation, to ask prospective mentors three specific questions, and when we do, that “magic will happen”. These are three very specific questions which hold a lot of bearing on the merit of the individual whom you are seeking to mentor you. The questions are:
49
What opportunity did you see and then seize upon? How did you prepare to see and seize upon that opportunity?
He followed that up by saying, “The thing is that people don’t always know what the next level is for them. With The Entrepreneurial Compass, I’m able to ask them what impact their activities have in four categories; family, personal, business, and contribution.
And finally the most important question, which Scott explained is where most people drop off the line of pursuing their dreams; is:
Then I ask what impact they would like to have; I ask very directly, “What activities do you need to adopt or change to have the impact you want to have?”
• •
•
How did you survive the gestation period?
When asked what he meant by the final question, he explained that it meant; “how did the individual survive the period of time between when they had their great idea and the time it started paying off.” He told us that everyone thinks they’re going to make money overnight, but that it just doesn’t happen. He then went on to say, “Build it and The they will come. truth is that they will come, but they won’t come overnight.” We asked him why a lot of businesses fail within the first three to five years and he told us “Because they didn’t commit to the gestation period”. Our conversation turned to something he had mentioned at the start of our interview, and that was the “next level”. He told us that he had recently been asked “How do you get to the next level and what is the next level?” He began chuckling as he said, “You know how you sometimes just start talking and you’re not exactly sure what you said or how you said it but the words just came out and they seem to make sense? Well this happened to me when I was asked that question. “ Then he explained, “The people who are operating at the next level, the impact of their activities are higher. The activities they engage in may be along the same activities of what you’re doing but their impact is much, much higher.” As an example, “A person can look at this area of contribution by going to a soup kitchen and donating an hour of their time helping the underprivileged, and that’s contribution; but then you can take helping to the other end of the scale, and look at Mother Theresa.“ What it comes down to is the impact that each of our activities are having. He said that “If you want to get to the next level you have to change your activities, or adopt new activities, to have the impact that you want to have.”
He explained that he goes through a whole gap process of filling in where an individual is now, where they want to be, and start working on building some very solid foundations on how to get to where they want to be. He told us that they will discuss how to increase the rewards and lessen the risk; because “cause is greater than effect”. He said that there are charts which are laid out in a sequence that those who are very successful follow. One of the downfalls that Scott tells us is that a lot of people don’t want to take credit for their own successes, because they’re conditioned to take responsibility for their failures; so when they have a win or success they have to assign those to another source. He said that he started to assign his successes to himself and realized how powerful that was, then he realized that he must be doing something right. So he started to look at his successes, and saw what was moving him forward, and he kicked out all those actions that weren’t moving him forward. He wanted to know that if he was having the kind of success that people well beyond him were having, then he must be doing something right, and that’s when he decided to investigate the whole process, and he developed the program. Scott explained that many people come up with a great idea and don’t know what to do with it; so we asked him what their next step is, and what do they do with their idea? He explained to us that the first step he does when he gets an idea, is to make a decision. In other words, you have to decide what does this mean to you. He said, “You are only going to act on something that is self proportionate to you.” He then went on to say, “You have to be as self driven as possible, and look at the decisions you make, and take actions on those. Otherwise you are going to be the effect of other people’s decisions and actions.
50
For example, you say you want to have dinner at a certain restaurant, and I say “No. You should go to this other restaurant over here”, and you do that. You took my determinism and acted on that; so if you have a horrible experience whose fault is that? Well that would be yours of course. I view it as responsibility. “ We asked him what responsibility meant to him; “What it really means is that it’s your ability to respond. I viewed it as I was responding to situations. Most people would view that as responding to problematic situations, but I view it as to favorable situations also. How able am I to respond to an idea? I am a very able person. I develop a prototype, and figure out a way to get an embodiment to figure out what the end user is going to receive. Then follow the steps to build a group of people around that and execute a plan, and this is where teamwork comes in because team work makes the dream work. What I’ve found is that if you plug in your desires, and you answer your questions, you’re really going to build your own business, your own life, your own contribution basis.” As our conversation continued along this topic we spoke about individuals who had great ideas but did not pursue them, and then followed up asking him what was needed once an individual came up with a talent or passion, and what framework did he apply to that idea especially to keep it going.
others and of yourself, you are doing something successful. If you start cutting out the unsuccessful actions then you will find that you will reduce the risk and start increasing the reward. You can bring the risk down and still get that huge reward.” Scott has long been going into the California State Prison System helping inmates prepare for life on the “outside” and he told us that his principals of looking at successful actions and kicking out unsuccessful actions also worked for individuals who might have “taken a wrong turn in life”, and also for those “who want to rebuild their life”. We then asked him how he got started and where his success stemmed from. He told us that years ago, he was a tradesman in Los Angeles and he owned an air conditioning and heating company that repaired appliances. Together with his girlfriend, they developed and executed a plan; “she paid all the bills and I went out and looked for contracts for products”. After a while, Scott felt that he wasn’t contributing enough, so he got odd jobs fixing dishwashers. He did not want anyone taking care of him; so he made a decision and knew that he had to “do something”. It took almost two years before he started to generate any income from his first product. He explained that while waiting for the income to start coming in, you have to put ego aside and “do what you have to do to keep your head above water”.
He told us, “I believe that most people don’t know what to do with these great ideas so they just drop off. That’s where The Entrepreneurial Compass comes in; they’re able to plot out their own course and their own success, as defined by them.”
Not wanting to act like he was “rich”, when the first check came in, he continued to take odd jobs. It was not until after the second check came in that he thought he was “fine” and he stopped taking odd jobs.
He explained that it was very important to look at what our successful actions were, and what our unsuccessful actions were; he said “kick out your unsuccessful actions so all you have to do is pay attention to your successful actions. When you apply the successful actions of
Scott really made it a point in telling us that everybody has to do what they have to do to survive. He said “You have to put your passion over your pride. You have to put your ego away. You gotta do what you gotta do to get to where you gotta get to”.
51
He told us that many people make decisions from an ego based decision, and an emotional based decision; that there’s a point of instruction that is important and you never want to make a decision from a vulnerable position. Both ego and emotional driven decisions puts a person in a vulnerable position. He said that successful people put themselves into an objective position. They ask themselves “How does making this decision advance my cause?”, and then they ask “How does making this decision set me back?” He said that you have to answer those questions objectively to know if you’re making the right decision and putting passion over pride.
In the morning, after I meditate, I spend one to two hours on high impact income activities. That’s it, nothing else. Then I spend one to two hours on high impact relationship building activities, and that’s all I do; nothing else. If you can apply that broadly into life, over a longer period of time, you get into this habit that you won’t get distracted. It’s about working smart, not hard.”
Scott continued by telling us that if you’re working from a situation of panic and desperation, then you’re going to falter and fall on your face, and you’ll give up.
With all of the buzz about the law of attraction, and there’s so much interest in manifesting, Scott told us that if you’re not focusing on your activities you’re not going to manifest much.
We then spoke about partnerships and what were some foundations that were important to lay out before getting into a partnership. He said that before going into any partnership, it was very important to ask these questions, which are point-blank and leaves no margin for misunderstanding or error.
He also suggests that when you’re receiving information from people, make sure they’re really operating off of that information. Do your homework and due diligence. Find out, if this is an issue of integrity and truth. Be as objective as possible. The more subjective you are the more vulnerable you are.
• • • •
What income demands do you currently have? What are your income sources? What do you expect to get out of this business? Finally, “the killer question is”; when?
Scott explained that some people just have a stronger constitution for taking risk, holding out, or holding their breath. He explained that people will go out and buy business support tools and materials; and they go to seminars where the people who are running these seminars want you to buy their programs. In situations such as these, Scott recommends removing oneself from the “hype” that is being created and asking; are they making money by telling you what to buy or are they making money by selling their program to you? He said that a lot of times these programs are backed with a lot of research, but not from the person who is delivering it. A lot of times they’re very good speakers, they are very good at letting you know what it is all about, they are excited and energetic, and you get into the hype, but then it doesn’t work out for you. As in many situations in life, we tend to get distracted and when that happens we can often falter on our path to success. We asked Scott how he stays focused and does not get distracted; his explanation is definitely words of wisdom to be followed. “I have a policy, that while I’m doing something that’s all I’m doing. This way, there’s no chance for me to get distracted.
A final word of wisdom that Scott left with us as our interview concluded was something that a friend of his had told him; “Scott, I don’t have a lot of wisdom, I’ve lived a lot of years, but the only thing I really know is that things really are what they seem. Don’t try to make it into something it isn’t. Just look at it; it is what it is.” Scott Evans is truly an amazing individual and is constantly working on bringing to light truths that will help set people free on the path to success, and successful business. He is unique in an industry where information costs money; Scott is determined to change the way we look at information, and he fully believes that information should always be free, and freely shared. Scott earned the title as “The Working Inventor” by being a prolific idea guy. While we’re all prolific, what sets Scott apart is that he takes action and has developed a system and programs for getting ideas out of your head and into the marketplace. Scott has penetrated the State and Federal Prisons in California and delivers The Entrepreneurial Compass™ to prisoners in a “pre-release” time window to prepare them for life on the outside. EFT - Tapping Your Way to Wholeness EFT tapping is something that a lot of people are just now hearing about for the first time, even though it's been around for quite a while now. It has mainly grown by word of mouth, as orthodox medicine and psychology don't have any way to account for it working within their worldview. Nonetheless, EFT tapping has accumulated hundreds of thousands of success stories over the past couple decades, and word about it is finally getting to the average person in the street, and have a lot of questions. If that's you, this article will introduce you to EFT tapping, and let you know what this buzzword is all about. EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. (You can see why people use the short version of it!) And the tapping part? That refers to how the technique is administered, which is by using your fingers to tap on various body parts, such as the eyebrow, just below the eye socket, the wrist, the chest, the top of the head, etc. Naturally, when most people first hear about this therapy, they're quite skeptical. How in the world could tapping on parts of the body have any effect, let alone a healing one? Well, that's because the body is full of energy, and these are parts of the body which allow us to access and harness that energy. You're no doubt familiar with the healing practice of acupuncture, which seemed strange and "weird" to most people when it first came to the Western countries several decades back. Well, acupuncture works on the very same principles as EFT tapping. Nowadays, of course, acupuncture is something that millions of people in North America have had done, and lots of them swear by it. Now it's EFT's
turn to first shock and astound people when they first hear about such a radically different way of approaching healing, and then to delight and surprise them when they try it for themselves and see just how effective it is. And with it being free, and noninvasive, there's really no reason not to try it. You might feel a bit silly the first few times you tap, but after you've seen what it can do, you'll be changing your tune about EFT tapping. Ryan Attwood is a writer and blogger and an enthusiastic proponent of EFT. He has not only seen the remarkable changes EFT can bring about in people in just a short time, he has also experienced it for himself. His top recommended resource for both those new to EFT, and for people who already use it and want to fully master it, is the Living Energy Secrets seminar. Their free course contains hours and hours of interviews with some of the top EFT specialists in the world today, and they reveal a lot of higher level energy healing secrets. There's no cost whatsoever, and the education and benefits are truly amazing. Check out Living Energy Secrets today for the best EFT course in existence. Leaving the Wilderness Alive – How to survive when all you’ve got is you Part 2 In the final of our two part series, licensed psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, and crisis counselor, Judith Acosta delves in to various situations which create stress and anxiety. She explains how we can survive, and overcome, stressful times utilizing mind-over-matter techniques.
What Can We Do, What Can We Say: Verbal First Aid in Real Life Deepak Chopra begins to answer that last question when he uses the metaphor of two people in a roller coaster. The following example is an adaptation and elaboration of his story: Two people are getting into a roller coaster. One is a young cowboy—hardly moving off the platform yet, but his arms are already in the air and he’s hootin’ and hollerin’ with anticipation. His heart is pounding. He’s smiling. The woman next to him has her hands clamped down onto the metal rod in front of her. Her heart is pounding but she is not smiling. Both are in the same seat, on the same ride, but they are clearly not experiencing the same thing. The difference? Their thoughts.
s tart of healing. This is why so much of Verbal First Aid in the field is directed to the alleviation of anxiety through the development and utilization of rapport. In rapport, a person will feel, “She understands me.” “He is going to help me.” “I’m safe, now.” When we feel understood, our anxiety is reduced. And when anxiety is redu ced, pain is relieved. Even if we are entirely alone, clinicians and scientists agree that what we say to ourselves matters and we can direct our thoughts so that our chances fo r s urvival are enhanced.
Whether you’re speaking to yourself or to someone e lse on the trail, how you approach someone mentally and emotionally is at least as important as the medical expertise you have, according to Winnie Maggiore, former Asst. Y’know even as we’re sitting here, it’s already starting to heal and the bleeding has slowed to a stop so we can walk down the rest of the trail. Points to Remember 1. What we think, we feel. What we feel determines how we heal. 2. In shock or stressful situations, we are more suggestible. What you say to others and to yourself is translated quickly into physiological reality.
Sam: Jared, I can see you’re breathing but that it’s a little tight? (Nods, but can’t speak.) Jared: Sam: Sit with me here and lean forward like this. Put your head forward like this so your bronchial tubes can open and smooth out. [At this point, Sam’s voice d rops in pitch and slows down so that it’s soothing and controlled. He “paces” his son’s breath with his own, carefully so as not to hyperventilate, just enough so that there is a joint rhythm. As he speaks to his son, his breathing slows down just a little bit at a time, “leading” his son back to normal breathing.) And as you do, you can remember very clearly h ow your inhaler feels when you take a puff on it, a little cool, a little tingly and how it opens you up pretty quickly, you can remember how it feels when it’s working…a little more open now…a little more open, a little cooler, until you can get a really good deep, slow, even breath…
3 . No "nots." Keep your thoughts and your words simple, positive and concrete. If you want a person to survive, tell him to "stay with you." Telling someone not to die leaves them with only one image in his mind: dying. Even in ordinary circumstances, no one can imagine a "not." We only see what you are telling us to not see.
A Tumble Along the Trail The La Luz trail in New Mexico, full of crumbled granite that feels like a trot on a field of ball bearings, has brought more than one person to his or her knees. Cuts, abrasions, bites are exceedingly common crises. For that reason, while it’s always smart to pack along a first aid kit, it’s even smarter to know what to say to stop the bleeding and initiate a healthy immune response.
Mental survival—regardless of where a person is, whether that’s in the extremes of battle or a backpacking expedition—is often a matter of re calling or being made aware of the resources one already has. As Lt. Costello learned the hard way, the mind is the greatest weapon of all.
Sandra skids down the trail and slides into a sharp rock. When she gathers herself up, blood is pourin g down her leg from a 3-inch laceration along the side of her calf. Her friend Kim, well-prepared for a full day hike, pulls out some Betadine, cleans the wound, applies sterile gauze on top of it and wraps it with a clean, cotton bandana. As she does, she speaks to her friend so that the bleeding stops and healing begins.
4. Be authoritative. When a person is scared, they are looking for a pack lea der, an authority to help and reassure them. If yo u're with someone who's hurt (even if that someone is yourself), you have to assu me that role if you want to be of help. It requires a cal m, centered, and confident approach. 5. If you don't know what to say, use a calming presence and say nothing. A touch of your hand, your presence can do a great deal to help a person when she's hurt or ill.

How to Show Her You Care Do you love her? Of course you do. The only problem is that you are having trouble showing her. It's easier than you think. I'm going to give you four ways, that you can without a doubt, learn how to show her you care. First: Remember everything that was ever important to her. This includes, dates, times, names, and places. Never forget the important dates in her life or your relationship. This includes, anniversaries, birthdays, the day you met, the calendar day of your first date. Also, the times of these events. The names of of her closest friends who were there. And the place that it happened. Sounds easy, doesn't it. This is the toughest one. Second: The names of all of her closest relatives. Remember, these will someday, if not already, be your in-laws. Her Mother's name (very important). Her name (also very Father's important). Any siblings, Aunts,
Uncles or cousins that she feels close to. This will depend on her and your own discretion. Sorry. Third: Keep an updated list (physical or mental), of her favorite movies and songs. You will need this to put her in the mood from time to time. But don't make any mistakes, sometimes she will be in the mood before you are. It's up to you to figure out when this happens. And it WILL happen. This is what I call, "Happy Time"! This is the best time! Fourth: NEVER TAKE HER FOR GRANTED. I make jokes and I like to laugh. But my wife knows I love her. I never let a day go by that I don't show her that I love her. I never let a day go by that I don't let my children know I love them. It's okay to laugh. It's okay to make jokes (as long as it's not at the expense of others). And never forget to let the ones closest to you know how much you care. We all need that.
I know I said at the beginning of this article that there were four ways, but there IS a fifth way that you can learn how to show her you care. Kiss her. Put your arms around her, hug her, and kiss her. A soft, slow, long, passionate kiss. It's a win, win strategy. And if you are truly in love, it's the one strategy that you and she will both feel all the way down to your toes. It will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. And it will let you know that there is no other place that you would rather be. James Larson writes articles on love and relationships. How to Stop Hair Pulling By Trevor Johnson
The behavior known as Trichotillomania is about releasing anxiety through hair pulling and there are many how to articles on how to stop pulling your hair out. It's important if you've seen this behavior in small children or adolescents that you understand the behavioral disease before you try to stop it.
In order to get to the bottom of hair pulling the first stop should be your physician. If it is concerning a child, make sure it's a reputable pediatrician. They have found that there are some abnormal brain metabolisms that can lead to hair pulling and it's important that you rule these out for you begin treating for anxiety issues.
Hair pulling is another way of reducing anxiety, and is known has an anxiety disorder. What may begin as simple pulling of the hairs on the face including the scalp, eyelashes, and eyebrows, can turn into pulling the hair to the point of baldness.
Once you've ruled out any physical issues concerning hair pulling, then it's time to look at behavioral therapy. Again, learning as much as you possibly can about the psychological approach to Trichotillomania can actually help with the treatment. Knowledge is power and with behavioral therapy it really means it.
As with any other behavioral disorder you need to get to the root of the problem. You cannot just ask them to stop pulling their eyebrows out, pulling their hair out or pulling their eyelashes out. This is a response to physical or anxiety issue, not that they actually want to pull their hair out. It's why you cannot just begin by moving a child's hand away from their face or scalp. You need to find out the reason for the anxiety before you can stop it completely.
The thing to realize with hair pulling is its not a normal function, it is a result of either a physical disturbance, or a mental one. Get more help on how to stop hair pulling and check out this easy to use hypnosis for hair pulling. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Trevor_Johnson

Is Sexting Child Pornography? By Beverly Frank
Sexting may be a term that many parents have not even heard of but that does not diminish the importance of understanding what this trend is all about and knowing what the ramifications can be if your child is involved. Whether you may want to admit it or not, teenagers are sending sexual messages and naked pictures of themselves using their cell phones. In most cases it's the girl sending a picture or message to the guy. It has quickly become part of the ritual of dating with 20% of teens (both boys and girls) saying that they have been involved. While many people may be thinking "What's the big deal?" then you should think again. This practice can ruin teenagers' lives. Recent cases show how serious the ramifications can really be: · Six teens in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, were charged as juveniles with possessing child pornography after three girls sent nude or semi-nude pictures of themselves to three boys. · A thirteen-year-old boy in Middletown, Ohio, is facing felony pandering obscenities charges after taping a sex act and showing it to friends at a skating party. While everyone agrees these kids need to be punished, it stands to reason that we do not need our thirteen or fourteen-year-olds charged with child porn and lumped in with adult pedophiles and labeled as sex offenders. Several leading attorneys seem to feel that there is no one reason prosecutors are opting to charge teens with child porn instead of lesser charges. Some feel the court may be doing it to "send a message." Others may feel they have an obligation to charge these teens with the most serious offense possible and, according to the law, naked pictures of underage kids are usually considered child porn. And still others may feel they are left with no options since there are not really any laws that apply specifically to sexting. The bottom line is that it has become clear we need to change our laws to catch up with technology. While none of these actions can be condoned they must be dealt with in the context of what has happened. A great illustration of why change is needed now can be found in the story of Phillip Alpert, of Orlando, Florida. While he did not ask for pictures, his girlfriend sexted him naked pictures of herself. When they broke up, he mass e-mailed the photos to several of their high school classmates to get back at her.
Alpert, eighteen, was convicted of transmission of child porn and he will carry the label of "sex offender" until he is forty-three years old. He lost friends, was kicked out of school and he can not even move in with his dad because his dad lives near a school. It's important that parents, educators, and lawmakers join together to make sure the punishment really does fit the crime. While everyone agrees that kids who participate in sexting should be punished, let's make the punishment realistic. Let's kick them off cheerleading squads and sports teams. Make them do community service and take classes on sex crimes. They can educate other teens on the dangers of sexting. Yes they should pay a price, but these young people should not pay for this for the rest of their lives. But the best step is always prevention- The bottom line: We need to educate, not incarcerate, our teens and it has to start with parents. It is important to not let the culture indoctrinate your little boy or girl about sex before their time. Strike first as a parent and if your kids are older, let them know a digital record is for life. Explain to your kids that when little Suzie tries to win the affection of little Bobby by sexting him a picture, she is putting her future at stake. There is no control over that image or video once it gets out and most likely ends up on the internet. But that does not mean little Suzie should be charged as a child pornographer. If you are an overweight teenager you know how difficult it is to find clothes that fit you properly and will make you look and feel great. Jeans are especially hard to choose when trying to find comfortable clothing and that won't or sloppy. make your body look bigger
Plus Size Summer Accessories – Must Haves For the Plus Size Woman This Summer By DeeDee McKenzie
There are new designs of plus size jean s that are created with some stretchy material like lycra that will move with your body and still retain the sh ape. These will make you look like the jeans are snug but not too tight and it will allow to breath easily. What I love about these jeans is the waist. This is where most of the jeans jus t cut into the skin leaving that red mark in your skin, but these newer jeans have enough give in them that you are not having the jeans cut into you all day. There is stretch in the waist band, a nd some will have elastic that will also give you just a little more room that you feel better. If you buy relaxed jeans they will give you more room but also they are also a bigger, roomier cut. You will want to stay away from the relaxed jeans because of the bigger cut in the legs which will make your legs look bigger.
So you have found your perfect swim suit and you're ready to hit the beach! But when it comes to the beach, most women are less concerned with accessorizing than they are about finding their Coppertone. But there are so many delicious ways for the Beach Diva to accessorize. The Perfect Pair of Shades What Diva would leave the house without her best pair of sunglasses? Not only are they going to make you look smoking hot and mysterious, don't forget the added benefit of preventing wrinkles and protecting your eyes from UV rays. Your sunglasses can also compliment and slim your face shape. Here are some quick tips for your perfect pair of shades * Oval: Due to the length of your face you can get away with larger glasses. Go for big and round. Think Breakfast at Tiffany's.
If you get flared legs make sure that they start to flare below the knee, this will make your legs look longer and thinner, wearing slight heels with your jeans will also make you look taller and thinner.
* Round: You can have a little fun and go with an angular frame to offset your round features. Otherwise try to avoid anything that adds bulk to your face. Try a more sleek sporty frame... Think Ski Bunny.
Jeans can be worn to many events and they come in all different shades and colors, you should have several pairs of the new jeans with the stretch material. You will be able to wear many different looks with these jeans in your wardrobe.
* Long: You can also get away with some bigger frames for this face type. Go for large aviator frames. Think Top Gun.

Flip Flops and Sandals When donning your hot new swim suit, footwear is a necessity. And finding the right sandals or flip flops can make or break your outing. Dressing For That Summer Barbecue The weather has certainly warmed over the last two weeks and so I like abandoning my car and walking the short distances to the village shops. Everywhere I turn I can smell meat on a grill especially on weekends. Dressing for that summer barbecue can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. It all comes down to practicality and comfort as you are dressing for the outdoors. feet of hot sand before you reach your beach towel, make sure your footwear is cute but comfortable. Bags and Totes The beach tote is the Diva Purse on steroids. Not only does your beach tote need to include your regular purse items (phone, wallet, etc..) you need to be able to carry a towel, sunscreen, your favorite novel, bottled water, the works! Make sure when picking up a bag or tote that you find one that is durable enough to withstand the elements (heat, sand, salt water, chlorinated water, etc...); and for extra safety keep a small water proof wallet to keep your money and credit cards on you and not in your bag. Tunics and Wraps Hot summer days can turn into cool summer nights fast. The savvy Beach Diva will always carry something to cover up with quickly. And tunics and wraps are way more attractive than wrapping yourself in the towel you just got off the ground. Waterproof Watch Time flies when you are having fun. And if you're a time conscience Diva having a waterproof watch is a must. There is nothing worse than having to interrupt your fun, run to your bag, and try to shake your hands dry to check your cell phone or regular watch to check the time. Who's hosting the barbecue? Is it an office barbecue or are you just nipping round to the neighbours or a friend? If it is work barbecue and you have never been before then find out from reliable co-workers what the dress code is. Make sure you do not ask someone who would send you up a garden path like in Bridget Jones Diary where she dresses like a tart in a playboy bunny costume to attend a family friend's barbecue while everyone else is regularly dressed. Dressing for the elements Whatever the occasion, ideally you want to be comfortably dressed at a summer barbecue. Barbecues are usually held outside so you are dressing for the elements. If your host has not catered for rainfall and chilly weather then be prepared by carrying a light sweater which you can tie around the waist or use to sit on the grass. I usually walk with a hand held summer umbrella (i.e. parasol) to provide shade if it gets too hot and shelter from the rain if it starts to pour. Remember if you plan to wear a strapless dress apply some aloe sun cream from home. Listen to the weather forecast before you go so you can be prepared. Summer dresses for that summer barbecue
 62
As much as I like summer dresses, factors such as where the barbecue is being held and whether there will be outside seating, influences how I dress for a barbecue. For annual barbecues you usually know what to expect if you attend every year. If you know that there is outside seating to comfortably sit and enjoy your barbecue meal then go for a summer dress or summer skirt.
Fashion for Sun Protection By Linda Pontnack
Dresses and skirts are so much suited for the warm weather than a pair of jeans unless they are short trousers jeans of course.
You can protect yourself from the sun by wearing; for men white to print cotton and linen shirts and shorts, with sandals to match.
Stay away from the tight jeans if you want to eat as much food as you can. Go for loose fitting outfits that are comfortably on the waist.
The cotton and linen clothing will cause your skin to breathe in every breeze, and reflect the sun light off your body.
Summer colours and patterns I have kids so I stay away from white because at some point my kids and their food are all over me.
A Nice ranch style hat made of woven stitches can give tremendous protection from sun rays and even sun burn because the hat not only protects the head but your face as well.
I like to wear stain resistant clothing and colourful summery patterns that can usually hide those evil barbecue spillages. A colourful summer dress or summer blouse is ideal when you are attending a barbecue with young kids. Summer fashion accessories Add glamour to your look with floppy or wide brimmed straw hats. Wide brimmed summer hats also helps to protect your face from the sun. Head scarves are a must and can really lift an outfit when well matched. You can tie the headscarf around your head or around your hat if you are wearing one.
Ladies; sundress, capri pants, shorts all made of pima cotton or breathable linen is good, don't forget to wear light pastel colors. Please no black, that absorbs the heat from the sun and you put your health in danger by dressing that way in the summer heat. Pink hats, straw hats, and ranch style hats with holes on both sides is excellent to wear in the sun. Hats protect your face, eyes and head from sun rays. Also make sure you wear comfortable sandals with reasonable heals.
I usually try to keep it simple at a summer barbecue so I leave my statement jewellery at home and go for leather flower jewellery like an orchid necklace. Copper flora and fauna jewellery is also perfect as it captures the theme of being outdoors. Whatever your choice, all accessories should team nicely with your summer barbecue outfit.
Makeup should be lightly applied to your face not heavy foundation because that can clog your pores.
Summer sandals Flat summer sandals or wedge heels are perfect for that grassy encounter. Similarly a rose sandal simply captures the mood of a garden summer barbecue.
This is what I call fashion for sun protection, you can look, smell and feel good about yourself and enjoy the sun by protecting yourself from its harmful rays through dress and style.

How to Personalize Your Feng Shui You’ll often see articles on the web, tips on Twitter and YouTube videos telling you how to set up your feng shui in your home or your office. This advice ranges from how to de-clutter to where to set up the Love & Romance area in your home to attract a partner. What you won’t find is feng shui information that’s specific to you. General feng shui is g reat for creating overall balance and harmony in the space around you. You may even find that some really wonderful things happen shortly after you set up your general feng shui. But after a while this energy will settle down and create a peaceful environment. When this h appens most people think
their fen g shui h as stopped working even thou gh it’s doing exactly what it’s s upposed to do. If you really wa nt to focus in on a particula r a rea of your life you need to set up your personal feng sh ui because it’s like pushing th e button on a vending mach in e to select exactly what y ou w ant. So wha t is your pe rsonal feng shui? You have four feng shui directio ns t hat support Health, your Success , Relationships a n d Wisdom and these fo ur di rections are based on you r birt hday. That means that y our pe rsonal feng shui directio ns ar e unique to you and will work better for you than ge neral feng shui when you want t o attract a
new job, more romance, better health or even the ability to learn more easily in school. You also happen to have four feng shui directions that prevent you from getting what you want in life. These are your Frustration, Theft, Disease and Total Loss directions. When you use these directions to try to make things happen it’s not only a real struggle for you but your odds of succeeding are pretty low. Let me share a story with you that explains exactly what I mean. Carol, a woman I met in California, told me about a feng shui consultati on she had to attract more business . The feng shui consultant told Carol to turn her desk to face
64
North (the direction for Car eer in general feng shui) to bring in more business and to put her client files in the Fame area (South) so that her clients would refer her to other people. In general this is good advice. The problem is that the Career area in general feng shui is Carol’s Theft direction and the Fame area, which is South, is Carol’s Frustration direction. Initially Carol said that her business did increase but she found that she was having a hard time getting these clients to pay her. It’s no wonder because she was facing her Theft direction when she was at her desk which was ideal for attracting financial loss. On top of that the people she was attracting were very demanding which was leaving her feeling stressed out. This is because her client files sitting in the South area of her office were in her Frustration direction so she was attracting clients that were drawn to this energy. Do you see how this works? Carol didn’t want this but her feng shui said she did and it worked perfectly. Your personal feng shui is just about the easiest and most powerful type of feng shui you can use in your home and office so th ere’s no reason for y ou to go through the same thing Carol did. You can set up your four best directions and avoid the other four with my book 4 Easy Ways to Ignite Your Love Life & Fatten Your Wallet available on Amazon.com. Body Detox Systems – Modern Day Superheroes Superman is every adult and child's legendary superhero. What with his ultra powerful punches and impressive x-ray vision, no inventive villain will last. The body detox system is built much in the same way. It knocks off the evil toxins to stop it from wreaking havoc in the body's natural proc esses. Without you knowing it, each organ in the body detox system works hard every day to keep the body f it an d healthy. Even in something as simple as breathing, the respirat ory system already gets rid of the harmful carbon dioxide from the b ody. H owever, this natural body deto x is oft en hampered by internal and exter n al forces. The good news is that there is som ethi ng you can to do assist the body in its cleansing operation. Notice how you vomit when you have eaten something nasty? It's really just th e dig estive system saving the day for you. In this sense, it is time to c all o n the rest of the justice league superheroes to help superman in the fig ht against the wicked criminals. Take note of every helpful bod y detox tip for you to accomplish to aid e ach body detox system in your body. SUPERHERO #1: THE LIVER. The liver does most of th e job by purifying the blood. It sifts everything and anything from da n g erous chemicals to bacteria. It also makes the bile that supports t he d etoxification process. To assist the liver, you have to start a body deto x diet composed of fresh fruits, uncooked vegetables and sterilize d wat er. SUPERHERO #2: THE SKIN. The skin is the body' s lar gest organ. This outer jacket is like a shield that prevents toxins from the outside to penetrate the body. Through perspiration, the ski n a lso expels harmful substances

out. So go and sweat it out! Dance, jog, run, exercise, or enjoy sauna with friends. SUPERHERO #3: THE LYMPH GLANDS. Under the skin is a net of pipe-like structures that allows the lymph fl uid to travel in the body, take a pit stop in the organs, and dump off the toxins for eradication. The appendix, the tonsils, and the spleen are part of body detox system. Don't tell your surgeon to cut if off! SUPERHERO #4: T HE BOWEL. Do you feel that sense of relief after you have released the tension in your body? The bowel feels just as lovely every time it does so. However, some food products can get stuck there and turn in to toxic monsters. The bowel needs your help! Get into a high-fiber diet. Pound whole flax seeds and eat them up like your regular oatmeal.
A Review of Vita Rawstaurant – A New Vegan Addition to Green Bay's Downtown New to the Green Bay area is Vita, a rawstaurant. It is vegan cuisine using seeds, grains, nuts, organic fruits and vegetables and never cooking anything over 118 degrees. Everything is made from scratch and can be time consuming, so if you are in a hurry, especially during peak dining hours, they do have a sign posted in the window to warn you the food could take up to an hour if it is very busy. The restaurant is delightfully decorated giving off a serene atmosphere with grass green colored walls and tiffany lamps with soothing music playing in the back ground. The tables are all different styles with fresh flowers, rock crystals, and earth colored linen napkins on every table.
SUPERHERO #5: THE KIDNEYS. If the bowel take cares of the solid waste products, the kidneys are in charge of the liquids. However, th e kidneys are put in danger when you rely too much on synthetic medications. Juice up and drink up by concocting your very own fruit or vege table c ocktail and help the kidneys flush out toxic residues.
The interior of the restaurant has many plants arranged throughout, in cluding a beautiful orchid, many assorted pictures, and two counters one facing the window with high back cushioned chairs and one curved counter towards the back with more seating.
Now you see that even superheroes need a bit of help sometimes. As they say, we all get by with a little help from our friends. Help your body get rid of the unfriendly substances and get into a healthy and natural body detox regime.

The hallway towards the restrooms was totally redone with new rose colored floor tiles, hanging cloth tapestries, and newly plastered walls w ith all new bathrooms fixtures. It was decorated warmly with lamps and oriental pictures. Everything was immaculate, a nice ambiance to match the environment and cuisine.
I ordered their single avocado sandwich for $5.50, a single tuna sandwich (made without using real tuna fish) which was the special of the day for $5.50, and for my beverage I ordered a carbonated grapefruit water for $2.50. The water was served in a very tall clear glass with a nice large thick round slice of lime making it look so refreshing. The sandwiches were s erved open faced, the base of both sandwiches were made with caraway rye bread brushed with coconut oil. The cracker was thin with a soft crunchy texture and the coconut oil made for a great chemistry which I loved. The sandwiches were both layered with cucumbers, marinated mushrooms, sliced cherry tomatoes, red onion, and za'taar pumpkin s eeds and topped with huge fresh sunflower sprouts.

The avocado sandwich had a nice amount of fresh sliced avocados.

The tuna was a blended mixture of cashew, dill, celery, sunflower seeds, and more, they had just made it up that day, it had a titillating distinct fresh flavor which was very delicious. I e njoyed both sandwiches very much.

Here are my five steps to growin g fruit and veg to save money. 1. List every fruit and veg that you and your family like to eat, e.g. apples, swedes, peppers. 2. Then take that list and mark each item as either expensive, cheap or in between. For example in the Unite d Kingdom, carrots are cheap but Chilli peppers are expensive. 3. Then take those that you have mark ed as expensive and look at their growing requirements and compare those to the space and climate etc. you have available. Also remember to include the amount of care that is needed. It is no use deciding to grow something yourself if you are away a lot of the time and this crop needs daily watering. 4. Once you have done this you can repeat 3 if you think you would have the room to grow more. 5. If you have no option but to grow the items on the list that are marked a s cheap, then pick those that take up the least amount of space and are in the ground for the shortest period of time. Also wherever possible use sow in succession to extend the cropping period (i.e.sow some seeds one w eek and then wait two or three weeks and then sow some more). I n the United Kingdom fruit is generally more expensive than vegetables s o try growing things like Blueberries and if you have space in a sunny location citrus fruits. Always remember to pick up your windfall apples and use to make juice / puree which you can then freeze. Both eating and cooking apples can be used for this. One other factor you may want to consider is the seasonal variation in supply and pricing. Generally speaking when a fruit or vegetable is in season it is cheap to buy, however out of season they can be much more expensive, especially if they have to be transported large distances. So if you have the room to grow a surplus and then store it, you could save m ore money when the item is more expensive in the shops. http://www.growingyourownveg.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Simon_Egan-Smith

Make Compost "Lasagna Style" –
Wet down the brown organic waste with your hose sprayer. Don't soak it, but make sure the mixture is moist.
Pile it Up and Let it Rot
You're a lazy gardener and you want to mak e compost, but you don't want to do a lot of work. You can make compost that way, but you 'll have to build the pil e correctly. Th e ingredients need to be layered in a certain order, like making a lasagna, so the pile decomposes without any help from you. In a year it will be ready to use in your garden. Here's how to make lasagna compost: Prepare th e site. Ideally you want your compost pile to be convenient to your garden but not out in the open for everyone to see. Find a p lace for it that also gets sun for a few hours a day. The sunlight helps to heat up the pile, which is essential for the c ompo st-making process. A good size for a compost pile is 3 feet by 3 feet. You don't have to enclose it, but if you choose to, provide a way to remove one of the sides. This will make it easy to remove the finished compost. The enclosure should be make of mesh or fencin g to allow air to get into the pile. Wood slats can be used if space is left between them for air circulation. Collect the materials. You'll need green organic waste like grass clippings, pulled weeds an d other ga rden waste, along with kitchen scraps including fruit and vegetable peelings and trimmings, tea bags, eggshells, coffee grounds and coffee filers. Do not include fats or oils, meat or poultry. In addition to green organic waste you'll need dried brown organic waste. These include autumn leaves, garden p lants that are dried up at the end of the growing season, small twigs, wo od chips, and/or shredded bark. You can also use shredded white office p aper or newspapers. Finally you'll need some garden soil and a small amount of finished compost. Layer the materials. Begin by placing an even, 3 inch layer of green organic waste at the bottom of the comp ost bin or pile area. Next shovel a thin, even layer of gard en soil over the layer of green organic waste. Sprinkle the soil with fini shed compost. You don't need to sprinkle on a lot of compost, just enoug h to "seed" your pile. Sprinkle it on as though you were adding a healthy amount of parmesan cheese on top of lasagna and didn't have to worry about counting calories. Add a layer of brown organic waste on top of the soil and compost. Spread it evenly into about a one inch layer.
Shovel a thin layer of garden soil on top of the moistened brown organic waste. Sprinkle with compost as before. Continue layering until you run out of materials. Alternate green materials with brown materials and put a layer of soil sprinkled with compost on top of every layer. End with garden soil at the top of the pile. Wait. The compost will take a year or longer to fully break down, depending on the size of the materials you added. In the meantime, spray the top of the pile periodically if rainfall is scarce. Cover the pile with a plastic tarp if rainfall is plentiful as it can leach all of the nutrients out of the compost and into the ground. That would be a waste. A few weeks after building your compost pile, test out whether or not it is decomposing. Drive your large garden fork into the middle of the top of the pile. After a couple of hours, touch the metal on the garden fork. If it is hot or even lukewarm, it means that your compost pile is successfully "cooking" the ingredients into black gold. It should be ready in about a year. Sharon Sweeny is a creative copywriter, specializing in gardening and self-sufficient do-it-yourself lifestyles. Peaches I spend the first part of my trip to the farmers market following my nose. I start at the first stand and wander from one vendor to the ne xt. I gently pick up a samp le of fruit or vegetable and smell its s weet mouthwatering aroma; feel the t exture of the skin and look upon its vibr ant color. I take a bite and feel th e juice and flesh tickle my palate. After my sensory overloa d, I go back to the vendors with the b est produce and start the buying process. This past week, my favo rite find was peaches. I love peaches and always look forward to the season . Currently the peaches are called “clingstones”. Peaches are divided into 2 categories; clingstones an d freestones, depending on whether the flesh sticks to the stone or not; both can have either white or yellow flesh. Peaches with white flesh typically are very sweet with little a cidity, while yellow-fleshed peaches typically have an acidic tang c oupled with sweetness, though this also varies greatly. Both colors ofte n have some red on their skin. Upon arriving home with my many pounds of peaches, I started to bake; peach cobbler, peach pie, peach scones. When I was down to my last pound, I remembered the am azing peach shortcake I made in the past. I went to the kitchen and with a grind of this, a cup of that and few turns of the dough, I had shortcake. I then sliced up the peaches and macerated them for a short time and put on a dollop of whip cream. I love peach season. Peach Shortcake Makes 6 to 8 shortcake 2 1/2 cups flour 2 tablespoon sugar, plus extra for sprinkling 1 teaspoon salt 1 ½ sticks of unsalted, cold butter, 12 tablespoons, cut into cubes 2 eggs ½ cup heavy cream
Lightly mix the eggs and cream together and add to the flour and butter mixture. Process until it just starts to come together. The dough will be sticky. Pour out the dough out onto a floured surface. Pat the dough into a circle, about ¾ inches thick. Cut out 6 cakes with a 2 ½ inch round cutter. Place cakes on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Brush the top of each cake with a bit of water & sprinkle with sugar. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until crisp and golden brown. Let cool on a rack. While the cakes are baking, slice up 6 peaches. Place in a medium bowl and mix in 2 tablespoon of Kirsch and 4 tablespoons of sugar depending on sweetness of peaches. Let them macerated. Mix together 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons sugar. Whip in electric mixer until soft peaks form, add 1 tablespoon of Kirsh and mix until peaks are stiff. Split each cake in half crosswise and place the bottom half on a plate. Spoon on peaches and some whip cream. Place on the other half of cake and put on a dollop of whip cream. 5 Tips for Finding the Best Inexpensive Wines By Joaquin Anderson
"Best" and "inexpensive" don't have to be at odds when it comes to buying wines. Here are five key strategies for finding and selecting inexpensive wines that are still a pleasure for the palate: (1) Look for up and coming producers: Thanks to the increasing popularity of wine worldwide, there are many new burgeoning wine-producing regions offering very good values. Look for wines from Chile, Australia, Washington State, Oregon, South Africa and New Zealand to encounter good surprises in price and quality. (2) Shop at grocery discounters: Beverages and More feature two for one sales and other good values because they buy in quantity. Trader Joe's grocery markets are still offering their "Two Buck Chuck" for $1.99, a good everyday drinking wine. Supermarket chains like Ralphs and Vons continue to expand their wine selections and often feature bottles at half price when you shop with their frequent buyer card.
(3) Look for bottles with "punts": Better quality wines use bottles with a depression ("punt") in the bottom so opt for these rather than flat-bottom wines. (4) Don't be a price snob: Just because a wine sells for $1.99 doesn't mean it will taste like swill, as evidenced by Trader Joe's "Two Buck Chuck". A $9.99 selling price doesn't automatically mean quality. (5) Appearance matters: Pass on any white wine older than two years or that looks discolored. Red wine ages better and even a 5-year old bottle can still pass muster. We all want to find affordable and good wines, but even when following the tips above this can be very time consuming. It wasn't until reading this good e-book on finding the best inexpensive wines that I became able to find and buy good cheap wines every time. If you too want to buy good wines under $10 a bottle, visit WineClubWeb.com and learn more about this book. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Joaquin_Anderson
Cost Plus World Market is working hard to find wines from undiscovered regions, and Big Lots stores now feature a discounted wine section.

compartments for all your dining wares - silverware such as sets of spoon, fork, and knives, drinking glasses, and ceramic wares such as plates and bowls. Some even include a wine service, which may include your wine bottle, sets of wine glasses, bottle stopper, and corkscrew. There might even be extra space for napkins and picnic tablecloth. If you intend to pack a lot and you expect your basket to be quite heavy, then you just might find wheeled picnic baskets especially convenient. Yes, picnic baskets with wheels underneath, usually the extra large ones, to eliminate the need of hand-carrying. Modern picnic baskets don't just focus on safety features; they also innovate for convenience.
How to Choose the Right Picnic Basket Even if we're living in the modern times, there are some things we just can't put out. For example, picnic baskets for picnics. Many would still regard a strong association between the two. What's a picnic without a picnic basket, anyway? Of course, you can now use plastic containers; they're more convenient and would probably take less storage space. Just stack one above another on the back of your van or luggage compartment and on you go. But even with that option, you would still consider a picnic basket. It brings a homely and comfortable feeling to your whole picnic experience.
There are wide selections of picnic baskets to choose from, from the very simple and naĂŻve, to the sophisticated. When choosing the right picnic basket, there some things you have to consider. An example is the place where you plan to hold your picnic. Some picnic baskets are developed with special functions while some are specifically for certain occasions. When buying a picnic basket, don't just keep an eye on stylish designs; many modern picnic baskets have safety features as well. Better take advantage of that. When we think of a picnic basket, we usually picture it out as wooden, weaved, and box-shaped, with 2 handles of course. Surprisingly, the traditional picnic basket has also evolved over time. Picnic baskets now are trendy and practical. Today they come in different types, touched with technology and innovative designs. If you're hitting the beach or having an extra hot day on the outdoors, it's important to keep your food and beverages cool to avoid spoilage. Choose an insulated picnic basket instead; this will keep out too much heat. Or a water-proof picnic basket perhaps, to keep your mobile phone, pocket books, and clothing dry. Some also have an extra pocket to secure little important things such as cash, wallet, and keys. And just how innovative can picnic baskets become? Besides having insulated sections for food, some designs even have bottle and wine holders, specifically design to secure them and prevent them from breakage. If you're packing a lot and would like to minimize the clutter by packing disposables and utensils individually, you may want a one-basket-packed-all type. You can expect it to be quite larger than your normal picnic basket, but its smart compact design allows

Romance for the Knackered! – 7 Easy Ways to Nurture Your Relationship for Exhausted Working Mothers The best environment for romance is a desert island, with no mobile phones, no emails, no work deadlines, no dirty nappies and NO KIDS! Children are sure-fire passion killers for most of us. As working mums, we tend to give our attention to he or she that shouts the loudest, and children are natural masters at shouting the loudest to get their needs met. This means that all other relationships get pushed to the bottom of the pile, especially the one with our romantic partner. However, it is so important to invest in your relationship and to keep the romance alive. After all, when the kids have grown up and have their own families, it's just you and him. If you don't nurture and pay attention to your relationship, it's likely that you'll find that you and the father of your children have become a strangers with no connection. Here are some frightening statistics: - 67% of marriages end in divorce - Half of all divorces occur in the first seven years - Living in an unhappy marriage will shorten your life by up to four years, and increase your chances of getting sick by as much as 35%. Convinced? I'm sure you know this already, but the questions I often get asked is: "How can you keep the romantic fires burning when you are simply knackered most of the time?!"
Here are seven tips that really don't take much effort at all. 1. Look for the Good As human beings, we tend to be very negative, always looking for the gaps or the faults. Look for the good in each other. Make a game of this - every day tell each other three things that you really appreciate about each other. You might feel a bit silly first, but after a week or so of awkwardness, see what happens. You will find that you thank each other more easily and without it being part of an exercise. You will start to see the good points about your partner, even when you've just picked his socks up off the floor for the 3rd time that week. Trust me - it works. 2. Say Goodbye, Say Hello It is so easy, especially when you have kids, to greet your partner with nothing but an instruction or a complaint. Make a point of kissing your partner goodbye, and greeting each other with a kiss again. Even better, make it a hug. Take two minutes to ask him/her what they will be doing today, and hold off from discussing domestic issues as soon as you greet each other during the evening. Instead, ask your partner what happened in their day - and listen.
 74
Remember that kids learn by observing their parents you are their primary role models. What sort of relationship behaviours do you want to model?
Take five minutes now and jot down what you think your partner's "touch points" are, then go and ask them what they are... see if the two match!
Things like saying hello and goodbye, touching each other and communicating are all behaviours and actions that will be observed by your children and you'll also be helping them to feel secure that their parents' relationship is a healthy one.
Once you've found out what these "touch points" are, actively make an effort to satisfy each other's touch points once a day.
3. Indulge in Some Cyber-Flirting Meet your partner on Facebook, Twitter or wherever, and send him a private message telling him how you feel about him, that you miss him, what you're going to do to him when the kids are in bed...! Write a poem or a love letter. Send a love text or send him a photo of yourself with a big kiss using your mobile. Technology offers us so many ways to communicate so use them to communicate with the most important man in your life! Disclaimer - DO make sure that you don't use your company email etc to send risquĂŠ messages! 4. Schedule a Daytime Play Date At the beginning of each holiday year, book a few "daytime dates" when you and your partner book a day off work in advance, but don't cancel your usual childcare arrangements, so that you can spend the day together alone! Daytime dates are great as you spend time together when you're not tired at the end of the day. Try using these dates to do something a bit different with your partner, or something you've never tried before. A few ideas - bowling, ice skating, go-karting, spend the day at a spa, hiking, visit a museum, a delicious lunch......the possibilities are endless! 5. Look for your partner's Touch Points This tip comes from friends, who learnt this on a parenting course, and it really stuck with me. Your "touch points" are what you as an individual need, what you respond to, and what makes you feel appreciated and loved. For example, one of my "touch points" is Chris saying something like, "I'll do the dinner tonight love - you take your time and catch up on your work". For Chris, his touch points are more around me showing how much I love him, telling him he is loved and needed. What are your partner's "touch points"? You probably know them, but you may not have given them much thought. We humans spend a lot of time thinking more about our own needs and wants.
6. Switch the TV Off If you tend towards "couch potato-ism" at the end of the day, as I certainly do, try scheduling just one or two weekday evenings per week to have a television detox. Now, light some candles, run a bath and go and soak, catch up...TALK to each other. Get an early night...! 7. Book a Weekly Date Night I can almost hear the excuses coming now as to why you can't book a weekly date night! Primarily, we cite lack of money, and of course, I acknowledge that this is an obstacle. But I'll still challenge you on it, as I know that many parents will spend money on various activities for their children, whilst ignoring their own need for some adult time with their partner. Ponder on the following questions: If you KNEW that your marriage depended on creating this time, what would you do? In order to say "yes" to romance with your partner (and I'm assuming you do want this, as you're reading this article), what will you say "no" to? So, your task is this: Please, book a date night today. Do whatever you want, whether it's going to the pictures or taking up a new hobby together. It's preferable to get out. Your ultimate goal is to make this date night weekly. If you need to start small - once monthly, then do so. It's preferable to get out of the house if you possibly can - the constant chores that surround us in our own homes can stop us from connecting romantically with your partner. If you really can't get out of the house, then set up your date night within the home. Light some candles, set the table, dress up and pretend you're in a posh restaurant even if the menu is beans on toast! Go book that date night now...and have fun! Gourmet food always includes bread, cracker, cheese, olive oil, greens (for salads), dips, lean meat, fruits (for dessert) and wine (for beverage). It is best to keep food individually packed as much as possible to retain its freshness. And it is also much fun to prepare them on site. Consider this: there are two general types of cheese, hard and soft cheese. Examples of hard cheese are cheddar and parmesan while goat cheese and brie are soft cheese. It is obvious that hard cheese is easier to pack neat while soft cheese needs to be stored well in a tight container. Cheese goes with wine of course. Simple desserts like grapes or strawberries will do fine. You can also bring cake or home-made pies for desserts. Besides food, there are several things you would need to complete the whole picnic experience. This may also mean you would pack a bit more. For beverages, you can put them in the freezer the night before. It will thaw naturally the next day and from the time you consume it, it's still ice cold. Use ice packs to keep your food and beverage cool.
Gourmet Picnics A gourmet picnic is simply a feast for all senses. Fine dining on beautiful outdoors as you may call it. Envision your gourmet picnic where you get together while indulging yourself with good food on a fine day. And the view is simply superb - simple, peaceful, and bliss. They're perfect for family gatherings and romantic dates. A gourmet picnic is indeed a great picnic and dining experience for everybody. So how do you whip up a gourmet picnic? Note, gourmet picnics need not be so expensive but it may cost more than your ordinary fun-picnic. It may also require extra effort compared to your typical picnic preparations. Food is on top of your list. Because you intend to hold a gourmet picnic in the first place, gourmet food is the highlight for that matter. You define a gourmet picnic by the food you serve. Here are some ideas. You can find gourmet picnic recipes that are easy to prepare.
Never forget your gourmet picnic basket. Can you imagine holding gourmet picnics and unpacking your stuff from plastic containers? Usually, they are classic wooden, woven, picnic baskets. It doesn't have to be fancy - a plain wooden picnic basket will do, which are either covered or uncovered. Either way, they look lovely. Together with decorative picnic table cloth/blanket, they add a homely, classy ambiance. You use your picnic basket to pack your food and utensils. Gourmet picnics will also include silverware - spoons, forks, knives, and dinnerware - plates and bowls, and beverage sets - drinking and wine glasses. In this case, you would probably need more than one picnic basket to pack them all. Fortunately, though gourmet baskets look traditional and simple, they now come with innovative designs such as insulated linings, wine bottle holder, glass holders, and even cheese board. Bring along a few scented candles too. Of course you can pick out your favorites. Citronella scent is effective in keeping insects away, and its sweet smelling just the same. Hiking Clothing – The Three Layer System for Cold Weather Beginner hikers sometimes overlook two simple facts about hiking clothing for warmth. First is that hiking clothing is not primarily designed to keep the cold out but to keep the heat in from the only source of heat i.e. yourself. Second is that when you are wearing hiking clothing for warmth, you are not trying to be as warm as possible but to reach a thermal equilibrium i.e. a state in which your heat production roughly balances your heat loss so that you remain within your comfort zone whether you are on the move, on the move and sweating, sitting still and sitting still and sweating. To achieve this thermal equilibrium under changing conditions your hiking clothing has to be versatile. Of course you can make adjustments to your hiking clothing by taking off layers when it gets too hot and putting more on when it gets cold but in most cases it's both inconvenient and impractical. The hiking clothing you use needs to be able to handle all the different situations, whether on the move or sitting still, at the same time. They need to be able keep the still and dry air to insulate you, keeping you warm and when you're moving allow the vapor of your sweat to pass through and escape to keep you cool. If your hiking clothing absorbs some of the moisture so that when you sweat heavily it remains damp, they lose the ability to keep you warm as it has lost its ability to hold dry air which acts as an insulating layer and at the same time your body will continue to draw latent heat from your body needed to turn the sweat into vapor. The result is that you suffer from what is called the after-exercise chill. Experiments have shown that with an absorptive material the chill can last for about two hours but with a non-absorptive material like fibre-pile the chill is negligible. The Three-Layer Hiking Clothing System The ability to prevent after-exercise chill so well is what makes the three-layer hiking clothing system so popular. It's a proven way to ensure your comfort outdoors. Each of the three layers has different functions that work together to cope with the different conditions. The First Layer Moisture management is the main function of the first layer. Some experts call it the next-to-the skin layer. It keeps you cool in the summer and keeps you warm in winter by keeping you dry.
Made of some sort of polypropylene or other synthetic fabrics, the fabric 'wicks' away the moisture from the skin very rapidly by capillary action dispersing it to the outer surface where it can evaporate. The Second Layer The second layer or middle layer of hiking clothing is the insulating layer. Their main function is to trap air, which is a good heat insulator, so you retain warmth. This layer is made of natural fibers or fleece. Both are reliable in keeping you warm but natural fibers have a more efficient warmth-to-weight ratio and are highly compressible. Its drawback is that it has to be kept dry to maintain its ability to retain warmth. Hiking clothing made from fleece are lightweight, breathable and insulate even when wet. They also dry faster and the warmth-toweight ratio is even higher than wool. Fleece is very popular with many experienced backpackers I know of even when it is not as compressible as natural fibers. The Third Layer The third layer is the waterproof shell that both acts as a windbreaker and a rain jacket. If the outer layer doesn't do what it's supposed you'll end up losing a lot of heat as the wind and penetrate into the inner layers. It is usually made of Gore-Tex that also offers breathability. This layer of hiking clothing needs to have proper ventilation or else perspiration can't evaporate but instead condenses on the inside of your shell. Jonsky Sicuna is a writer for HikingCamping-World.com where you'll find good quality hooded windbreakers and raincoats. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jonsky_Si cuna

While at first reluctant to accept the idea of its men sleeping in hammocks, the United States Marine Corps later employed jungle hammocks in Pacific island expeditions where heavy rain and creepy crawlers were prevalent. Hammocks have also been employed on spacecraft in order to use available space when not sleeping or relaxing.
Why Hammocks Are So Popular Hammocks were created by native inhabitants of tropical countries for sleeping and were first brought to Europe by Christopher Columbus when he brought many hammocks back to Spain from islands in the present day Bahamas. One of the reasons that hammocks became standard in Central and South America was because they were able to prevent harm from sickness, insect stings, or animal bites. The hammock's elevated position also totally bared the occupant to cooling air currents both above and below, improving the body's ability to cool itself through the unrestricted evaporation of sweat. Hammocks in highly developed regions are thought of as simple pleasures; however, their use in third world countries is extensive and a basic need. Some hammocks are created just for backpacking and include mosquito netting and space for nighttime storage. There are also hammocks made out of thin and lightweight material which makes them ideal for taking on day hikes. Frequent campers have learned that using a hammock on a camping trip is ideal because they are elevated off the stony ground with no chance of a rock poking them in the legs during the night. The world's navies and Marine Corps have made frequent use of hammocks over the years. Around 1590, hammocks were applied for use in sailing ships; the Royal Navy formally adopted the canvas sling hammock in 1597. Since a slung hammock sways in unison with the direction of the vessel, the sailor is not likely to be thrown onto the floor during swells or rough seas. Prior to the adoption of naval hammocks, sailors would often be hurt or even killed as they crashed to the floor. The sides of navy issue canvas hammocks wrap around the sleeper like a cocoon, making an accidental fall virtually impossible. Many sailors became so accustomed to this way of sleeping that they brought their hammocks home with them on leave. The naval use of hammocks continued into the 20th century.
During the Apollo program, the Lunar Module was equipped with hammocks for the commander and lunar module pilot to sleep in between moonwalks. Hammocks are commonly hung between two trees, however with the development of a hammock stand, hammocks can be placed anywhere you can imagine. Hammock swing chairs are welcoming indoor or outdoor furniture, providing a place to take refuge from today's hurried lifestyle. Hammocks in bedrooms and rec rooms are very popular today, and your child or teenager will have the best hangout for friends and study partners. Used as the principal bed and furniture throughout the tropics of the Americas, hammocks also can be used as lawn furniture for backyard tranquility, an emergency bed in home or student housing, and a great alternative to traditional tent camping. Hammocks and hammock chairs will always be popular and represent the lazy days of summer to most of America. Brenda Simard loved the tranquil nature of hammocks as a child. The hammock was hung between two trees and the cool, summer breezes would sweep over her. Total happiness and bliss was the end result. These are memories seasons are made of. Center of the Milky Way Galaxy is on Display Throughout the Summer By Gregg Pasterick
As the summer constellations swing into view in the northern hemisphere, they carry along with them a variety of celestial wonders: the globular star cluster M13, which consists of hundreds of thousands of stars; the bright, twinkling stars Altair, Deneb and Vega, which form the Summer Triangle; the double star cluster of Perseus; and perhaps the most impressive sight of all, the star-rich center of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. A pretty ordinary galaxy in a ridiculously big universe that holds billions of galaxies, the Milky Way is none-the-less a massive beast from our perspective. It is approximately 100,000 light-years (ly) in diameter, and estimated to be, on average, more than 2,300ly thick. If those numbers aren't big enough to impress you, consider this: one light year equals nearly 6,000,000,000,000 (or 6 trillion) miles! That's big. It's so big it takes our Solar System about 220 million years to orbit it
just once. This means, in the 4.6 billion years our Solar System has existed, we have gone around the center of the galaxy just over 20 times. And it contains somewhere between 200 billion to 400 billion stars. The center of the Milky Way, which is noticeably brighter and more pronounced, is about 16,000ly thick. From our backyard vantage here on Earth, the Milky Way is visible on any given night, a powdery haze stretching among the constellations. That backyard vantage of ours has been calculated to be about 28,000ly from the center of the galaxy, which means we sit nearer the outer edge than the center. What this translates to as far as our night sky is that the powdery haze of the Milky Way is thinnest when we look toward its outer edge, which lies in the direction of the constellation Orion, and
thickest (or starriest) when we look through a greater concentration of stars toward its center, which lies in Sagittarius. It's an impossibly beautiful sight, this pile of distant stars which comprise the center of our galaxy. And on a clear summer night, from a dark location, the Milky Way billows out from that central hub like smoke from some great interstellar conflagration. In some places it is etched with dark bands. These dark bands are filaments of dust, which obscure or absorb light emitted from stars and nebulae behind it, but rather than detract from its beauty, they enhance it. The Milky Way Galaxy may be ordinary by cosmic standards, but there's nothing ordinary about it as it billows out from Sagittarius, just one of the many celestial wonders in the summer night sky.

11 Awesome Ideas of Things to Do This Summer In the summer are you frazzled and tired of your kids at the end of every day? Are you counting the days until school starts? Summer can be a time to help spark your creativity and your child's creativity as well. Hold a family meeting where kids can choose an activity they are interested in. Older children can help younger children which can help siblings bond to each other and teach them respect for each other. Some suggestions of what to do so children don't get bored and you don't pull your hair out: 1. Plan a picnic. If you don't have a park nearby or you don't have time to travel to a park have it in your backyard. Encourage children to plan the menu and help to shop for the necessary supplies. This is a great time to talk about nutrition, help them shop using a budget and teach them how to pack. 2. At the beginning of the summer plan to let each child make a scrapbook of everything they do this summer. Or get a journal to record their activities. This is a great time to help them learn how to declutter as they will learn to keep only the most important things, that keeping everything is not necessary or important. They can take photos for their scrapbook or draw pictures of each activity. Have a family night once a week where they can share their scrapbook with other family members. 3. Have someone decorate a jar and label it "Brag jar". When someone does something nice for someone else a family member can write down what the person did and put it in the brag jar. This will encourage your kids to do things for others. Make another jar with suggestions of things they can do for others. It sounds a lot better than "chore jar". Put fun things they can do for others in the jar as well as jobs. 4. Make a list of things children can do to earn money and put the amount of money they can earn for each job. Children always need money for this and that and it teaches them responsibility and accountability for money. 5. Plan the most outrageous "Staycation" (vacation at home) that your imagination can think of. Lonelyplanet.com/destinations/ has wonderful information about other countries where you can get ideas about your favorite place you want to travel to.
6. How about putting on a play? Have the children write the play, make the costumes, create the set and send out invitations. 7. Plan a couple of hours once a week to organize clutter. Help them go through their toys and down size. Take a look at their clothes in the drawers and in the closets and get rid of what they don't wear or have grown out of. Donate them to a charity or give to other children in your home that can wear them. 8. Set up a reading program to encourage reading. With the child set a goal of so many books they will read and give a prize when they have reached their goal. They could give an oral book review of their favorite book to the family after they have read 10 books or so many pages depending on the age of the child. 9. Learn how something works and then explain it to the family. 10. Assign a different child one night a week to cook, or a lunch to fix. Encourage them to try new recipes from a simple cookbook. There are wonderful, easy cook books for beginning cooks. Twice during the summer have them make a dish that they have created. Even if it is something as simple as putting nuts in a salad the family likes but it doesn't call for nuts. 11. Blow up balloons, put notes inside and hand them out to neighbors and friends. Blow up 100 water balloons and have a water balloon fight. Letting children make summer plans at the beginning of the summer gets them thinking creatively, learning new things and helps make "I'm bored" obsolete. Bringing the Outdoors In By Beverly Frank
When you have children you know that being stuck indoors can be very difficult. When the weather is bad, or the day is too hot to be out of doors, it is always nice to have some fun ideas for things to do indoors. The following are five great ideas for indoor fun: 1. Song Tag This is a game where you play tag in the house. When you get tagged, you can't move until you make up a verse to the tune of your favorite song. It is like freeze tag, but instead of freezing, you have to test your creativity and sing a song. You and your children will be cracking up, and rolling on the floor in laughter. You can fill several hours with this fun activity, and in addition to that, you can help your child tap into their creative edge and express it through singing. 2. Round Table Story One really fun activity for the parent with several children is that of telling a joint story around a table. Pop some popcorn, or get out some other snacks, then sit around the table and as a group, make up funny stories together.
As the parent you can start, and then you pause, and the person to your left has to pick up where you left off. Go around the table taking turns telling your portion of the story. When it is all said and done, see if you can remember the story, and write it down. On your next rainy day you can read it to your children, and get a fun lively discussion going about the memories of telling that story. 3. Outdoors In One fun way to bring some lively fun to the indoors is that of taking outdoor activities and bringing them in. Go swimming in your bathtub. Get your bathing suits on, lay out on your towels in the living room, splash, play, then use the water all over the bathroom after to help you get the place clean after. Build a sand castle out of brown sugar. Do whatever your favorite outdoor activity is, but find a way to do it inside. Your child will love it!
4. Finger Licking Painting Finger painting is always a fun activity, but to spice it up a little and make it a more enjoyable, try painting with pudding instead of paint. Get each of your children a paper plate, and their own color of pudding, and let them have at it. They will laugh, create, and enjoy licking their fingers. Your kitchen might get a bit messy, but it will be worth it. 5. Live a Story Tale When you are stuck inside for the day, take your child's favorite story book, and make it come to life. If they love Dr. Seuss, then cook up a fun and unique meal such as green eggs and ham. If they love Cinderella, carve a pumpkin coach. Find a story with something you can duplicate at home, and do so. Visit http://www.surfnetparents.com for more For more parenting advice and ideas. Fun Ideas for Kids to Foster Creativity One activity to have kids do is to create a scrapbook journal. If you live in an area that has state parks, or hiking trails, you can have the kids collect, draw and write about what they see around them. If you are not allowed to carry out plant samples or rocks, kids could use a digital camera or other camera to capture an image of what interests them. With the pictures, you could have them upload them to a computer and then write and print their experiences. If you want to inspire the artist in your child, buying them some water- based paints and they could do this with any activity, from playing in the sprinklers in the yard to riding their bikes with friends. Another low cost activity is to take kids to local museums and libraries. If you have a university close by, their museums may be free and have shows that can inform and entertain kids. Local libraries may also have story time and activities that can provide kids with mind challenging activities. It might be good to let the child get a library card and take them to check-out a new book a week. This will encourage reading, as well as teach them how to find things in a library. The summer is a time for kids to have fun. Even though they are not in school, kids can learn, experiment, and expand their horizons by creating lasting memories. These memories can vary from a simple activity to other more elaborate planned out activities. Having kids around for the summer after a long school year can cause boredom. Kids have the tendency to play video games or want to go places that cost money with their friends. What can you do to entertain your kids and their friends during the summer months? Here are a few fun ideas to help.

Outdoor Water Toys –
Good Clean Summertime Fun for Kids By Lynn Crowe
Then there are other sprinklers that are made for older children that wiggle and move and spray water everywhere. Slip and slide mats are another way to let you kids have a little water fun. The original slip 'n slide has been around for over forty years and now is available in several different designs and even some double and triple designs so your kids can have water races.
Some kids may hate taking a bath, but that doesn't mean they hate water. I have never met a kid that given the chance wouldn't run around in the rain or slash around and play in the puddles the rain leaves behind. Kids love water when they can play in it outside. If you would like to see your child smile from ear to ear just give them one of these really cool water toys and then stand back if you don't want to get wet. Water balloons are a fun and very inexpensive way for kids to play with water. Give your kids a package of balloons and the garden hose and they are set. If you want to get a little more high tech, you can purchase slingshots made especially for launching water balloons.
Another of the not too expensive water toys you can buy are water guns. Of course some of the more powerful water guns can get up there in price, but none of them are too costly. Kids can have a ton of fun chasing each other around the yard and shooting each other with their water guns. There are even clip on targets you can purchase to make their water gun fights a little more challenging.
If you want to splurge a little, the inflatable water slides are a big hit with kids and come in lots of different designs and sizes. If you are looking for other fun toys for your kids visit best selling toys for toys for kids of all ages.
We all played in the garden sprinklers as kids, but today there are lots of really cute sprinklers made just for kids to play in. There are sprinklers available that are made for small children like the Elmo sprinkler I bought for my grandsons that allows you to adjust how much water comes out so even the youngest toddler can enjoy the water without getting sprayed in the face.

Teach Your Child to Enjoy Healthy Eating We hear a lot today about healthy eating but how many people really understand what is involved to be truly healthy from a balanced diet? Healthy eating has to be a complete lifestyle decision before it can have an impact on our general well being. Embracing a healthy lifestyle is best done from early childhood. The habits a child adopts with regard to their eating can often stay with them for life. Training your child to eat healthily can begin as early as the breast feeding stage. Many foods consumed by the mother pass into the mother's breast milk. It has been shown for example, that children whose mothers eat a lot of spicy foods more readily accept spicy foods as they get older than children whose mothers did not. Likewise, if a mother consumes a diet that is high in salt or refined sugars her breast fed child will lean toward preference for salty or sugary foods also. You can start to gear your child toward healthy eating from this early stage of development by ensuring that you eat sensibly while breast feeding.
“Embracing a healthy lifestyle is best done from early childhood…”
It is once a child moves to solid food while still an infant and then all the way through to adolescence that is critical for forming lifelong healthy eating habits.
The way to encourage your child toward a healthy lifestyle is to practice healthy living yourself. A child that lives in a family whose diet consists of mainly fruit, vegetables, salads, whole grains and fresh fish is most likely to continue this eating style into adulthood. If a child lives in a family where the diet mainly consists of processed foods high in saturated fats, refined sugars, salts, refined carbohydrates such as white bread and pasta and too much red meats such as steaks and burgers, that child is liable to form lifelong eating habits that are far less than optimum.
Many parents make the terrible mistake of eating fairly healthily themselves but providing their children with a diet that they think children like. Worse still, some parents end up adopting a diet that they have geared toward their children's perceived preferences. It is very common to find a mother overdosing on pizza and fries, packet breakfast cereals and sugary deserts just because these are the things she has loaded in her grocery trolley for the children. Parents should understand that children will grow up to enjoy healthy food if that is what they are fed from the outset. They will also grow up to enjoy the types of meals their parents eat. The trick is to eat healthily and feed your children what you are eating. Healthy eating is not something that can be done once in a while if it is going to have a lasting impact on your life. There is very little point having a salad once a week if the rest of the week is a diet of soda and junk food. People need to be consistent with their healthy eating. Every single meal of every single day should be healthy. This should not be seen as drudgery. On the contrary, healthy eating is very enjoyable and satisfying indeed. Holidays – Tips on Taking Better Photographs Gone are the days of blurry, indistinguishable photos taken with that wind-on thing you bought at a souvenir shop for five quid: the future is digital! At this point, I'm actually sure that many camera enthusiasts might disagree with me, but for we amateurs, a digital camera can hardly be surpassed. The rise of the digital camera has made it ever more difficult to find an excuse for taking bad pictures. However, if you're still struggling to explain why your wife's eyes constantly come out looking like the Devil's own in each picture you take, or why your photos always seem to look like they were touched by the halo of a mischievous angel, here are ten simple tips to improve your photography without giving you a headache in the process: 1) Read the manual! This really should go without saying. Even quite experienced users can always benefit from reading the user manual, as tempting as it is to skip it and get straight to the action. However, if the idea of wading into that quicksand of technical terms and dry, joyless language gives you the chills, at least there the basics - how to turn the flash on and off and onto auto, how to zoom in and out, how to use the shutter button and how to view your pictures. If you're feeling braver at a later date, you can always go back and learn the technicalities. 2) Set your resolution While not immediately obvious, it's important to set your resolution as high as you can afford it. If this involves buying a larger memory card, then do so. The lower your resolution is, the 'fuzzier' and worse quality your photos will be when you come to print them out. A low resolution also makes it more difficult to crop photos and digitally alter, which limits your options drastically. 3) Make your camera your new best friend By which I mean, start taking it everywhere with you. One of my best friend's boyfriends has made it his resolution to take a least one picture every day. He carries his camera around with him everywhere he goes
and as a result has come across some stunning shots and improved his technique immensely. There really is truth to the saying 'practice makes perfect'. Additionally, you will get to know how your camera reacts in different types of light - artificial, natural, cloudy, dusk and so on. Besides, most of us can identify with that incredible frustration of coming across the perfect shot and not having our camera around to take it. 4) Think outside the box Start thinking like a photographer. If you see something you want to photograph, don't just click away like some shutter-happy tourist: think! From which angle would your subject look best? Would different lighting convey a different mood? Should you shoot from close up or further away? While there are certain 'rules' that can help you at the beginning to get the feeling for what a 'good' photograph should look like, you should also feel free to experiment. Even if everything goes horribly wrong, you can still learn from your mistakes. If, however, you're just starting out, it can helpful to keep the following points in mind:
 87
- Apply the 'Two Thirds' rule, by positions your points of interest along the third lines of the photograph. Try not to let the horizon or other lines cut your photo in half.
Even if you are the most computer-phobic person in the world, you should be able to master some simple skills, which can do the world for your photographs.
- Avoid distractions: it may be amusing to realise your photo looks like your mum has a tree growing out of her head, but if you're aiming for decent photos, try to look at the 'big picture' as it were and alter your position to remove distractions.
Probably the most important things to learn are: - correcting colour balance - cropping - adjusting lighting - removing the dreaded red eye
- Mix things up: take photographs from interesting angles, as demonstrated by this photo. While this can go horribly wrong, often it can result in beautiful, unique photographs without a lot of hard work.
If you're more ambitious, there is almost no limit to what you can do.
5) Keep still and focus Pay attention to what you're doing while taking photographs. If you are prone to taking blurry or shaky pictures, either you haven't got the hang of focusing, or you may be moving too much while attempting to snap your subject. In any case, learn how to use the auto focus and don't play with manual focusing unless your auto focus runs into trouble. One top tip to steady your shot is to use one hand underneath the lens to steady it (keep your fingers out of the shot though!) and use your other hand to focus and take the picture. If you still have trouble, try experimenting with a tripod, although this will limit your movement. 6) Don't get flash happy Use your flash sparingly. While it can be a god-send in certain circumstances, if you give into temptation too often your only reward will be washed-out subject or strange reflections. Your flash is best limited to the following situations: - to eliminate 'panda eyes' in bright sunlight - to fill in dark shadows for contrast Where possible, avoid flash by introducing as much light as possible to the area, for example opening curtains, turning on lights and so on. If you have no choice but to use your flash at nighttime, go ahead, but do be prepared for a rather washed-out or flattened photograph. 7) Go for a crop Try installing photo-editing software and learn how to use the basics of it. One of the best is Photoshop, but it's quite expensive. A better option is perhaps to start with Paint.NET, which is free to download online (it's only Windows-compatible though).
8) Stick to automatic Most cameras have a automatic mode - some have several different automatic modes. Stick to these until you get your bearings. Since due to advances in technology, there isn't a pressing reason to switch to manual. If you appear to be experiencing problems in your automatic mode, such as consistently taking blurry photos, you might want to start experimenting manually, but otherwise don't mess around with it too much. 9) Gather critics Invite your pals around to view your pictures and to tell you which they like best and why. They'll be able to point out to you both positive and negative aspects that you may have missed. One may point out that they love the composition of a certain photo that you had overlooked. Another might comment on your use of lighting or how you might improve your framing. Don't underestimate the use of looking through other people's eyes, as it were, to gain new insight. And don't be put off if everybody doesn't immediately rave about your newfound artistic talent! 10) Have fun! And that's a command! Don't worry if you first few, or even first few hundred photos come out looking a bit pants - that doesn't matter. What matters is that you enjoy the process of learning and don't get put off too easily by mistakes at the beginning. With a bit of practice, photography can be a very fulfilling and creative hobby, so keep at it! Defragging your Computer – How and Why
I received a reminder today on how different types of viruses can be spread so I want to take a quick minute to remind you how viruses can come in different forms. My best friend just e-mailed me as I sat down to write this article. I stopped writing to see what she had sent me, and realized right away something was amiss. She explained that she had received two e-mails and she couldn’t open the attachments. I knew right away that it was bad. (I have these crazy instincts that just know!!!!) Sure enough, both e-mails had viruses attached. A quick note; if you receive an e-mail from someone you don’t know that has an attachment, please don’t open it, simply delete it. Then go to the trash can and empty your deleted items (especially if you are using Outlook Express or Outlook). If you get an e-mail from someone you do know but it looks weird or has funny writing in it (example: Fruit, monkey wearing underwear, check it out!) call them and ask if they sent you something. My friend did make the mistake of trying to open the attachments but fortunately had excellent virus software that caught it. Crisis averted!!!
than they were in the past. If you have an older PC, it’s best to clean your cookies and your history to maintain space on your hard drive. You should do this at least once a week. There are several ways to clean your cookies; you can either open Internet Explorer and go to “Tools” (at the top of the page) , then Internet Options and the first tab will show you where you can clean cookies and clear history. *Note* If you click “Clear Forms”, this will clean out any passwords you might have had Internet Explorer save for you. So be careful if you want to save them. The other place you can go clean out cookies is in the control panel, listed under “Internet Options”. Any other web browser you might be using, Netscape, Firefox, etc, also have similarly listed options to clean out your cookies. *Note* If you do use another web browser, clean your cookies with that particular browser open. It will not be listed in the control panel, which is for Microsoft services only.
I received the following questions from a reader: “How often should I defrag my computer? Is it important to delete cookies? Does the defrag take care of the cookies?” First off, you do not need to defrag your computer very often. Defragging is best done after uninstalling software or cleaning items off of your computer; for instance, if you delete pictures or music from your “My Documents” Folder. I suggest defragging after performing what I mentioned above, or once every two months. To clarify what defragging means, it’s a process to help your computer free up space on your hard drive. Make sure that once you start a defrag that you allow it to finish without interruption. Reboot afterwards and make sure to empty your recycle bin. To defrag (if you have Vista, XP or any older version of Windows) go to the Start button, then Accessories, find System Tools, you will find it listed there.
A defrag does not take care of cookies. Only the method I explained earlier gets rid of them. It’s always good to take some time and do maintenance on your computer every once in a while. This gives you a chance to learn a little bit more about how your computer works and keep it your friend. As always, keep computing and have fun with it! Ressa Kinnear is a self taught PC Technician. It is relatively important to clean cookies but not urgent. If you have a newer PC you don’t have to worry about this because hard drives are much larger
