A STORY OF DISAPPEARING TERRITORY We are losing our land under the changes of climate and urban development. If the government still doesn’t face the problem, it will come to a halt in many industries and eco-environment. However, is there any construction that can fit into the environment more efficiently? Because of the dam in the upstream, Cigu Lagoon is losing its sandbank. Strong winds and tides make the shoreline stepping inward year by year. Breakage in the sandbank decreases its ability to decrease the waves. It is reported that Cigu Lagoon , the origin of the culture of oyster farming and important habitat of the birds, will disappear in 50 years.

i. THE BIGGEST LAGOON

Cigu District is a rural district of about 25,415 residents in Tainan, Taiwan. It was previously a salt producing area, but now most of the salt products are imported from other counties. The Cigu Lagoon is located in this township, and an ecological conservation area for Black-faced Spoonbills is situated on the estuary of the Zengwun River.

The lagoon itself is not only richful for its oyster industry, but also the main habitat for spoonbill.

Because of the water demanded, Wushanto Dam was built at 1930, but it blocked most of the sand which belongs to sandbank.

Activity is some kind of relative to climate, because of climate, production will began to harvest oyster in Jan. to March and Jul. to Aug., and spoonbiil will return in Oct. to May, during this time, tourists will begin to risen.

Tourist spot (stable) Tourist spot (unstable)

Sandbank is the heart of Cigu lagoon, without sandbank, the lagoon will swallow by sea, and there will be no more production and birds habitat in this area. furthermore, after storm, the sea wave will be easily flood into the land, threaten the residences in Cigu county.

v. TIMELAPSE Phase one

The first phase is to embed the Sstructure into the sandbank, as the future’s base.

iv. CONCEPT

Prosthetics means a process of merging organic (assume as nature) and inorganic(assume as artificial) also it will maintain the function which the original one will soon disappear. Environment Prosthetics is a new imagination of infrastructure, means a artificial tectonic gradually merge into nature as time goes by, and use them to protect the landscape, furthermore, to create space for all creatures.

The fishermen are active especially from January to February and July to August each year , while the facility itself provides farmers with an area where they can live, work and relax. The facility also utilizes its own foundations to stabilize the remaining sandbanks, allowing the black-faced spoonbills and other creatures from the sandbank to retain their habitat. Due to the barrier of the facility itself and the proper route arrangement, the fishermen's activities do not interrupt the habitat of the birds on the sandbar.

vii. SANDBANK MUSEUM

The aquaculture in Cigu has always been an important cultural property. As the environment changes and the migration of young people, this culture is now in danger. it is important to convey this crisis to people. The collection of the museum mainly consists of two themes: First, the ecology. The sand-fixing plants and aquatic plants can continue to grow without interruption in the museum. Second, the aquaculture. There is also a small permanent exhibition which tells the history of the aquaculture in Cigu. And finally the huge sandbank slope also shows the scales and textures of the sandbank.

The perfect combination of culture and nature Is there a perfect combination of culture and nature in this world? The answer is yes. Yesa reservoir is located in Aragon, Spain. It is not only is important source of water resources in the region, but also rich in important energy sources - geothermal. Due to the rich geothermal heat, Yesa Reservoir is surrounded by many hot springs and many ruins which are scattered around the lake. As a result, the natural open air hot springs have become cleverly preserved.

i. YESA RESERVOIR

Yesa reservoir is on the east of Spain Navarra, north of Spain Aragon, it’s also the main reservoir to nearby cities and countries. The main activity in Yesa reservoir is farming, only about 500 ppls live near the reservoir. The reservoir have many water activity and ancient buildings also have strong value of ecological.

ii. GEOTHERMAL

On the north of reservoir have a village called Tiermas, the feature in Tiermas is the mud bath hotspring during the dry season. Because of this spring, I found out that there do have many fault line near the reservoir, also means there have plenty Geothermal power under the Yesa reservoir. This is why Yesa will become an important hot spring culture heartland.

iii. THE LAGACY

Yesa Spa area is characterized by its ruins and is also a natural open air hot springs area, but in recent years the Spanish government decided to list it as a cultural asset, prohibiting tourists from entering the ruins of the hot springs, so this special space experience will be consigned to history. The purpose of this design is to bring back this special spatial experience.

iv. CONCEPT

How to replicate the special experience of the ruins will be the most important issue in this design. Tiermas, the largest ruin complex in Yesa Resevoir, will be the focus of analysis in this design. We separated 10 prototypes from the ruin, which will be merged and simplified into a more human friendly and interesting spatial experience.

vi. ARRANGEMENT

Due to the topography of the site, the design will also conform to the ups and downs of the terrain. Different heights will bring a special space experience for the circuits and the bathing. This experience cannot be achieved in the former ruin space. The user can also, according to their own preferences, choose the most suitable area for their leisure activity

Issue The river bank has always played an important role in the history of mankind. In particular, the development of the city and the people's life can not be separated from the close relationship between water and people. However, due to the ever-changing technology and engineering, people gradually get out of touch with the water without having to gain access to the benefits of water. Tamsui River is the most important river of life for Taipei City and New Taipei City. It is also located in the very center of Taipei. It cuts off New Taipei City and Taipei City. Because the river is nearly 500 meters wide, There are also highways (viaducts) and embankments that block people's needs without having to deliberately enter the banks where they have faded from the hearts of the people of Taipei. The purpose of this design proposal is to rekindle Taipei's life center back to the banks of the river, link the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, break the barrier between rivers and infrastructures (embankments and expressways), and create public spaces in public that belong to New Taipei City and Taipei City The key indicators.

The concept of the proposal is trying to connect the people who live on diffirent site by the huge construction of artificial mountain, and it will also shorten the distance between human and the water. And with curve form, it can create a focus view to the centre of landscape. The structure is lying on each side of urban, hope to extend the commercial onto the landscape to attract more people.

A cozy place for a couple and their mother. This design was the first residential case that I worked on when I entered the profession. It is also the largest single-family home that Yuanken Architecture Workshop has ever created. The owners are a couple and their mother. They hope to have a comfortable house to provide them with their old-age support. The case is sited on the hillside, so the design will echo the topographical situation.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION

The location of the site in this case is located in a residential community, with some distance from urban areas, therefore it is very quiet. At the same time, a beautiful landscape is only located in the south. As a result, the design has the main window facing the south. The courtyard area is also set to the south, so that it fully absorbs the sun from the south. The ground floor is designed mainly to be a waiting room and parking lot. The first floor is the main living space and mother’s room. The second floor features the two daughters’ rooms and entertainment. The third floor is the whole master bedroom and sky garden.

A WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE OF ROAD TO ARCHITECTURE During a building project I get a strong feeling that I am realizing a dream that what we are achieving exceeds expectations. The previous designs we created in school always stopped at the paper stage, and never continued to the stage of construction drawings. During the process of construction on a real project I get a huge sense of accomplishment and this motivates me to continue along the road of architecture.
