Campeon Infineon Ökologische Urbanität Im Hachinger Tal bei München wurde ein Campus für das Hochtechnologie-Unternehmen Infineon geplant. Dafür wurde unter Federführung von Rainer Schmidt Land schaftsarchitekten + Stadtplaner eine Arbeitsgemeinschaft mit GTL Landschaftsarchitekten, Kassel, gebildet. Die Herausforderung dieses Projektes bestand darin, die Anlage von Bebauung und Freiräumen unter strikter Erhaltung der ökologischen Funktionen im Freiraum zu organisieren. Das Hachinger Tal liegt in einem von 14 regionalen Grün zügen, die in die Münchener Innenstadt hineinragen und den Luftaustausch zwischen Stadt und Land ermöglichen. Die Anlage verknüpft Räume für Arbeit und Freizeit mit dem Anspruch, dass ein in sich stabiles Funktions- und Ökosystem einen wesentlichen Beitrag leistet im land schaftsräumlichen Netz ökologischer Verknüpfungen und Raumbeziehungen. Die „Autarkie“ des Firmensitzes in mitten der Landschaft zeigt sich bildhaft in den kompakt angeordneten Gebäuden, die – wie eine Burganlage – von einem ringförmigen See umgeben sind. 74 SLA0334-B4-192P-21082013.indd 74

Die städtebauliche Anordnung des Campus, ausgelegt für 7.000 Mitarbeiter, bietet die Kompaktheit einer dörflichen Struktur. Die vorhandene Grünschneise wurde als zentraler Freiraum ausformuliert und durch die Gebäude gerahmt. Dieser Freiraum kann als „Anger“ interpretiert werden und ist als Bürgerpark zu verstehen. Die Außenanlagen der Bebauung sind als Erweiterung der Arbeitszone gestaltet und weniger als „Vorraum“ vor Ge bäuden. In der engen Verzahnung der Neubauten mit Frei raum, Wasser und Landschaft nutzt das Projekt die Gunst seiner Lage. Zwischen den Bürogebäuden liegen intensiv gestaltete Hofgärten. Sie sind als Ruhezonen nutzbar, laden aber auch zum Arbeiten im Freien ein. Auf dem Anger befinden sich durch Einsenkungen markierte Aufenthaltsbereiche für die Mitarbeiter. Die Möglichkeit der spontanen Kommunika tion in angenehmer Atmosphäre ist für einen Campus mit vorrangigen Nutzungen in den Bereichen Forschung und Entwicklung wesentlich. Das entsprechende räumliche An gebot ist weit mehr als ein Pausenhof. Die Landschaftsar chitektur definiert ganz wesentlich die Idee des Campus, des Kommunikationsfeldes, als wichtigem Bestandteil einer effizienten und kreativen Arbeitsumgebung. In Ergänzung der Arbeitsräume entstanden Cafés, Restau rants, kleine Geschäfte sowie eine Kindertagesstätte. Im südlichen Bereich des Geländes befinden sich Sportanlagen für Tennis, Fußball und Beachvolleyball sowie einige 75 SLA0334-B4-192P-21082013.indd 75

Joggingpfade, die von den Beschäftigten und den Anwoh nern der angrenzenden Gemeinden Unterhaching und Neu biberg gemeinsam genutzt werden können. Ein Lärmschutzwall zur nahe gelegenen Autobahn hin ist skulptural gestaltet und schließt das Gelände ab. Dieses neu eingefügte topografische Element betont die Alleinstellung der Anlage, zeigt aber auch ihre organische Einbindung in die Landschaft und wird so als deutlich sichtbare Geste zum Ausdruck der gesamten Konzeption. Der neu angelegte See ist ein beliebter Naherholungsraum. Er beeinflusst das Mikroklima positiv. Entlang der flachen Uferböschungen wurden Zonen für Sumpf,- Flachwasserund Schwimmblattpflanzen angelegt. Der See wird durch Niederschlags- und Dachflächenwasser sowie aus dem Grundwasser gespeist. Zur Sicherung der Wasserqualität wird das Seewasser in einem Klärschilfbecken gereinigt. Der Infineon-Campus ist eingebunden in eine ökologisch sensible Umgebung und in die Nachbarschaft der umgeben den Gemeinden. Das Projekt ist wegweisend für eine mögliche zukünftige Organisation von Arbeitswelten, nicht nur aufgrund der visionären Einbindung von Architektur in die Landschaft sowie der Verzahnung von Architektur und Ökologie, sondern auch hinsichtlich der sozialen und kultu rellen Integration eines global agierenden Unternehmens in das lokale Umfeld.

Es ist durchaus das Bild der Harmonie, das hier im Zusam menklang kontrastierender Kontexte geschaffen werden sollte. Zukunftsforschung wird verknüpft mit lokalen Quali täten, die Idee des Neuen wird nicht kaschiert, sondern in einen neuen Kontext eingebunden. Dies geschieht mittels der Einbettung in bestehende und neu geschaffene Raumzu sammenhänge, die hier zugleich respektiert und ikonogra fisch stilisiert werden. Die Anklänge an romantische Motive einer Ideallandschaft sind bewusst gesetzt, indem der Schlichtheit der Räume für Arbeitsnutzungen die Bewegt heit einer Uferlandschaft entgegengestellt wird. Zugänge zum Wasser, Blickbeziehungen und Perspektiven eröffnen einen ideellen wie realen Bezugsraum und geben den Rah men für die innovativen und häufig abstrakten Tätigkeiten. Die Inanspruchnahme der landschaftsräumlichen Flächen für eine intensive Nutzung wird ausgeglichen durch die ökologische Anreicherung dieser Flächen, die sich in einer neuen Vielfalt von Flora und Fauna zeigt. Die gewählten organischen Elemente im Kontrast zur Be bauung erfüllen die Ziele einer Designidee „Organik“: Mittels einer Gestaltung, die auf den räumlichen Wirkun gen von Topografie und Vegetation aufbaut, gelingt es, neue Erlebnismöglichkeiten und Erfahrungen von „Natur“ durch Bau- und Landschaftskultur zu schaffen. Das Projekt wirkt als Einheit im Kontext der Umgebung und hat zugleich die gestalterische Kraft, als neuer Kern einer transformierten Kulturlandschaft zu „strahlen“ und diese zu repräsentieren. eine besondere Synergie zwischen Neunutzung und Wert steigerung der naturräumlichen Potenziale des Ortes. Diese Wirkung steht in der Tradition der Ganzheitlichkeit des Denkens, Handelns und Gestaltens in der Folge der Aufklä rung. Wo Wissenschaft und Logik und damit die Kritik der Urteilskraft und die Idee der Vernunft den „natürlichen“ Schöpfungsglauben ablösten, entstand auch die Kraft für neue Gestaltideen. Und es entstand die Notwendigkeit neu er Orientierungen und Werte. Diese haben ihre Wurzeln in der Romantik. In der frühen Moderne waren es Ideen der seriellen Produk tion von Schönheit in Bebauung und auch in der Gestaltung von Freiräumen, die nur aus einer Einheit von Gestalt und Bildhaftigkeit entstehen konnten. Diese Haltung der Artsand-Crafts-Bewegung wird hier übertragen auf die Gegen wart des digitalen Zeitalters.

Campeon Infineon Ecological Urbanism In Hachinger Tal, a valley near Munich, a campus for the high-tech company Infineon was planned. For this purpose, a consortium was formed of Rainer Schmidt and GTL Landscape Architects, Kassel. The challenging side to this project was to organise the layout of buildings and open spaces while rigorously conserving the ecological functions of the open space. Hachinger Tal is one of 14 green corridors protruding into the heart of Munich and facilitating air exchange between city and country. The layout combines leisure and working spaces, suggest ing that an intrinsically stable functional and ecological system fulfils a crucial task in a network of ecologic cor relations and spatial interrelations. The “autarchy” of the company’s headquarters in the heart of the landscape is viv idly reflected in the compact arrangement of the buildings, surrounded like a castle complex by a circular pond. The urban layout of the campus, designed for a 7,000strong workforce, is as compact as a village. by buildings. This open space, resembling the concept of the village greens, is meant to serve as a citizens’ park. The buildings’ exterior landscaping is laid out rather as an extension to the working zones than as a foyer space to the buildings. Firmly embedded within open space, water and landscape, the project takes advantage of its favourable location. Fitted between the office buildings, the intensively de signed courtyard gardens may be used either as break-out areas or as open-air working spaces. Pits in the village greens provide staff members with secluded lounge areas. After all, facilities for impromptu communication in a re laxed atmosphere are vital to a campus primarily designed for research and development purposes. Hence the space allocated to this use is much more than a “schoolyard”. The purpose of the campus as a field of communication, an essential precondition for an efficient and creative working environment, is crucially determined by landscape architecture. Cafés, restaurants, small shops and a day care centre were installed to complement the working spaces. In the south of the premises, there are sports facilities such as tennis courts, football, beach volley grounds and several jogging trails that may be used both by staff members and by locals of the neighbouring communities of Unterhaching and Neubiberg.

A sculptured wall shields the premises against the noise of the nearby motorway and closes them off. This new topo graphic element emphasises the site’s uniqueness, but also highlights its organic incorporation into the landscape, ex pressing as a clearly visible gesture the overall concept. The newly installed pond is a much-loved place for recre ation with a positive impact on the microclimate. The em bankments were provided with zones designated for marsh, shallow water and floating leaf plants. The pond is fed with rain- and roof drainage water, but also with ground water. To ensure water quality, the pond’s water is purified in a reed bed sewage treatment system. The Infineon campus is embedded in ecologically sensitive surroundings and in the neighbourhood of the bordering municipalities. The campus points the way to a potential model organisation of working environments, not only by virtue of visionary integration of architecture into the land scape and by the intertwining of architecture and ecology, but also by promoting the social and cultural integration of a global enterprise with the local environment. It was indeed the objective to create an image of harmony in the consonance of contrasting contexts. Futurology is being combined with local assets, new conceptions are not disguised, but incorporated into a new context. This is ac complished by embedding them into existing or newly cre ated spatial contexts that are both respected and iconograph ically stylised in this case. ideal landscape are not at all incidental, as the simplicity of the working spaces is set against a vivid lakeside land scape. Water access points, sight lines and perspectives fa cilitate personal identification with the place and provide a backdrop for innovative and often abstract activities. The heavy use of the landscaped areas is cushioned by a rich flora and fauna that has been resettled in these areas. The organic elements chosen to contrast the building fulfil the objectives of an “organic” design concept. A layout based on the spatial effects of topography and vegetation facilitates new experiences and perceptions of nature in construction and landscape culture. Working as a coherent unit in the context of its environ ment, the project has the creative potential to shine as the new heart of a transformed cultivated landscape – and rep resent it at the same time. The landscape design achieves a synergy between the new use and the appreciated value of the natural potentials of the place. This effect stands in the tradition of holistic thinking, acting and creating that result ed from the Enlightenment. When science and logic and with it the critique of judgement and the idea of reason sup planted creationism, the potential of new creative ideas was unlocked, calling for orientation and values. These are root ed in Romanticism.

In early modernism there were the ideas of a serial produc足 tion of beauty in both building and landscape architecture that could only result from a unity of form and vividness. This stance of the arts-and-crafts movement is being trans足 ferred to the present digital age.

Campus der Lu Xun Kunstakademie Eine neue Kulturlandschaft In das hügelige Bergland im Osten Dalians, einer 6-Mill ionen-Einwohner-Stadt im Nordosten Chinas, war der Campus der neuen Niederlassung der Lu Xun Kunstakademie in Shenyang mit Museum, Ateliers, Sportflächen und Parkanlagen einzufügen. Topografie und Potenziale der baumlosen Landschaft nahe dem Meer waren eine Herausforderung für diese Aufgabe im Rahmen eines internationalen Wettbewerbs, den Rainer Schmidt Landschaftsarchitekten + Stadtplaner in Koopera tion mit dem Architekturbüro Auer + Weber + Assoziierte, München, 2004 gewannen. Die natürliche Topografie wurde für die Anlage des Cam pus mit einem Plateau überformt. Ein schachbrettartiges Raster dient als Basis für die Einfügung von unterschiedli chen Volumina der Bebauung und ihrer freien Räume in die Landschaft. Umfassende Qualität in Idee und Umsetzung: Diese Maxime definiert die Arbeiten von Rainer Schmidt Landschaftsarchitekten + Stadtplaner. Rainer Schmidt selbst lebt dieses Prinzip.
