VISUAL STORY ACT 1

The show begins with a soldier singing the song ‘We’ll Meet Again’. The stage becomes a train station, where adults are gathering up the evacuees who are being sent away for safety from the blitz.

VISUAL STORY ACT 1

We then meet the Pevensie children (Edmund, Susan, Peter and Lucy) who are late for the train but manage to get there just in time. The train takes them to The Professor’s house in Scotland where they meet: Mrs Macready who tells them the rules of the house; The Professor who is mysterious; and The Professor’s cat Schroedinger.

VISUAL STORY ACT 1

Lucy is a curious child who follows the cat away from her siblings and into the spare room. She notices a wardrobe and steps into it. There is a big transition as Lucy goes through the wardrobe and then arrives in Narnia, a magical land where it is always winter.

VISUAL STORY ACT 1

In Narnia, Lucy meets Mr Tumnus, a kind creature who is half human, half goat. She talks to him and he tells her about The White Witch who is evil and who has made it always winter in Narnia. Mr Tumnus then tells Lucy that he is actually employed by The White Witch to let The White Witch know if any humans arrive in Narnia. But, because Mr Tumnus is nice, he doesn’t tell The White Witch about Lucy.

VISUAL STORY ACT 1

Lucy travels back through the wardrobe and tells her siblings and The Professor about Narnia but they don’t believe her. Edmund is mean to Lucy and makes fun of her. But when he is by himself he tries to get into the wardrobe and he ends up in Narnia.

VISUAL STORY ACT 1

When Edmund is in Narnia, he meets The White Witch (also known as Jadis) and her henchmen (called ‘Cruels’). The White Witch offers Edmund Turkish Delights which he eats. Edmund tells The White Witch that Lucy has been to Narnia and has met Mr Tumnus. The White Witch asks Edmund to bring all his siblings back to Narnia. She then turns Mr Tumnus to stone because he betrayed her.

VISUAL STORY ACT 1

The Professor convinces Susan and Peter to travel to Narnia with Edmund and Lucy. Once they arrive, they find out about Mr Tumnus in a letter from Maugrim who is Captain of The White Witch’s Secret Police.

VISUAL STORY ACT 1

They then meet Mr and Mrs Beaver who tell them about Aslan the Lion who will one day return and defeat The White Witch. They join forces with other woodland creatures and leave to save Mr Tumnus.

VISUAL STORY ACT 1

Meanwhile, Edmund has run away to tell The White Witch about his siblings being in Narnia. The White Witch tempts Edmund with more Turkish Delight, but then traps him. The White Witch rallies up her army to start a war against Aslan...
