Afternoon tea fit for a Queen
Vandals damage park BBQ POINTS have been removed from the northern part of Watermead Country Park. “Unfortunately we have had to remove the six BBQ points from Watermead North following a number of complaints from visitors last year about groups vandalising these areas of the park and upsetting other visitors” said a Leicestershire County Council spokesperson. “To replace the BBQ points we are looking to create a new family picnic and games area near King Lear’s lake, to ensure visitors can continue to enjoy picnics in the park.” Six BBQ points in Watermead North have been removed. BBQs are not being replaced, and are no longer allowed, but an alternative family picnic and games area will be developed to ensure families and visitors can continue to enjoy the park at meal times, say the County.
FLAG WAVING, bunting and afternoon tea were the order of the day at a tea party to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday. Held at the Café on the Corner on Sibson Road, it was attended by senior citizens, their families and carers, all wearing their best outfits befitting a royal occasion. A special guest was Eileen Lowndes (90) who shares her birthday with the Queen. She arrived at the café in a horse drawn carriage, a surprise organised by her son. “I was really chuffed” said Eileen. “It was such a surprise when I looked out of the window and saw these two white horses and a carriage.” On the route from her home at Hannah Clarke Court on Park Road where she has lived for the last 22 years, Eileen had a taste of the attention enjoyed by the monarch she shares her birthday with. “People were waving at me on the way so I waved back. I felt special” she said.

NHS cuts threaten future of day centre CARERS AND charity staff have been left shocked and devastated after hearing that a Birstall day centre for dementia sufferers could close following NHS cuts. Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland run day care sessions at the Village Hall in Birstall, and at Gloucester House in Melton for people with advanced dementia. They say the service will be forced to close after the NHS East and West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) announced it was withdrawing £70,000 of funding. “I have never felt so strongly about an issue as this” said Tony Donovan, Director of Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland. “I was horrified and shocked by this news, these centres are very special and cater for a difficult client group, those with advanced dementia.” He added: “The centres provide a well earned break for carers who are often at their wits’ end. I’m getting calls from people who are saying it can’t close, I won’t be able to cope, it’s a lifeline.” The centre in Birstall looks after 19 people across two days with nine on a waiting list. The centre in Melton has 25 people across four days, with seven on a waiting list. Users are collected from their home at 10am and returned home at 3pm after having spent the day being kept physically and mentally stimulated by staff. Deirdre Thomas’ 93 year old mother is one of the users of the Birstall centre. Deirdre said: “I feel devastated by this news, I burst into tears when I get the letter telling me about it. But then I got angry. “My mum has been coming here for four years and there are huge benefits for her. She enjoys herself, joins in with the singing, and gets to interact with other people. I am her sole carer. It’s very hard to care for her, she needs a lot of care. I will be campaigning for this decision to withdraw funding to be reversed.” Age UK already supports the centres by providing £36,000 a year, raised by its charity shops. Tony Donovan said: “There are no alternative services available in this area. In the short term this will result in dete-

rioration in the quality of life for those with dementia and added pressure on carers who will switch to 24-7 caring roles. In the medium term it will result in dementia sufferers needing to move to residential care when carers can no longer cope without respite help. Age UK opposes the closure of these groups based on the value for money they offer vs. residential care and the clear local need for them.”
Birstall Parish Council are urging NHS bosses to restore the funding. Parish Council Chair said: “It is a fact that dementia is a health and government priority due to ever increasing numbers of sufferers. The disease also places great strain on carers. “For around 25 years the centre has served the needs of some of the most vulnerable people living in the South Charnwood area and their carers. Without the support the centre offers, many carers alContinued on page 4

With the CCG’s budget having gone up in the last year, and a clear local need for these services, I have taken the matter up directly with the CCG and have raised it in Parliament. Quite simply, I believe the CCG have got this wrong; they need to pause, think again, and reverse this decision. I hope
that they will listen and do just that, and I will continue pressing them to do so.” The CCG says it will give the centre six months’ notice before withdrawing the funding. Dr Chris Barlow, a working GP in South Charnwood and clinical lead at West Leicestershire CCG said: “We are meeting with Age UK to listen to their concerns and hope to find a way forward. Throughout the six months’ notice period we are committed to working with Age UK and other partner organisations to ensure people know where and how they can continue to access support. “Supporting older people and the people that care for them is a priority for West Leicestershire CCG and we continue to work with social care to provide services to support their health and wellbeing. However, our budget is limited, and we need to ensure we invest any additional money which we have in providing healthcare for those individuals, particularly where money is available from other sources to fund the social care aspects of support.” You can sign a petition objecting to the loss of funding at the Age UK shop on Sibson Road.

The eleven pupils from Riverside won the Leicestershire Hoops4Health title at the Leicester Community Sports Arena during half time of the Leicester Riders v Newcastle Eagles game. A school spokesman said: “Congratulations to all the team: Joe, Wilf, Max, Sheunesu, Thanisha, Morgan, Ben, Sam, Thomas, Lily and Demi. Each and everyone of them played their part in winning this tournament. A special thank you to Leicester Riders’ Anthony Rowe who had done a fantastic job coaching and in-

Birstall’s new school & recreation centre THE PLANNING application for a new primary school on the Hallam Fields estate is expected to be submitted by mid May. The £4.2million school will accommodate 210 pupils aged 4-11 and is expected to open in September 2017. It will be located next to the Harrowgate Drive playing field. The County Council have had two bidders from academy sponsors hoping to run the new school – one is from the Lionheart Multi Academy Trust who run all Birstall’s existing schools. The identity of the second bidder has not been re-

leased by the County Council. Speaking at Birstall Parish Council’s annual meeting in April, Birstall County Councillor Iain Bentley updated those attending with news about the proposal. He said that the planning application had been delayed due to last minute adjustments to footpaths and the location of the play area. He said there will be three footpaths connecting the site to Harrowgate Drive and the attached community recreation centre will overlook community playing fields which will be laid out for cricket and football. Birstall Parish Council have recom-
mended that as there is already good provision for these sports in the village, and the new playing fields could include rugby pitches, basketball, multi use games area, hockey and tennis. Once built the recreation centre will be passed to Charnwood Borough Council who will decide who runs it. A decision on which academy sponsor will be chosen to run the new school will be taken this summer.

Councillor Pauline Ranson, Deputy Cabinet Member for Housing said: “We’re delighted with the remodelling of these flats and it’s a testament to the

Note to dog walkers and residents around the Meadow Lane area. Birstall United Juniors FC are holding their annual football tournament over the weekend of 4th & 5th June and so there will be a lot of traffic in the Meadow Lane area as we host teams from many other clubs around the county. Whilst the club does its best to minimise disruption to local residents by providing free parking in the field at the end of Meadow Lane, there will inevitably be a little disruption with all the cars that will be coming and going. We have written to clubs attending and asked them to use the free car park and not to park on the surrounding streets. We are giving you plenty of notice in case you may wish to visit an alternative part of the lakes for your dog walks that weekend. Road/Wanlip Lane, as far as the entrance to the Cedars Academy. Ideally there should have been no litter as everyone knows it should be put in a bin or taken home. Unfortunately, there were the usual tins, sweet wrappers and crisp bags, but the MOST annoying pieces of rubbish were the bags of dog dirt which had been thrown into the hedges, to lay or hang there like strange multicoloured decorations. And lay there they will, for months, perhaps years on end, spoiling the natural beauty of the path to Wanlip. I thought that the idea of doggy bags was to enable the animal’s owner to take its mess home. Dog owners, if you can’t be bothered to take your little parcels with you wouldn’t it be better if you just kicked your dog’s mess into the hedge bottom where it would biodegrade naturally? I don’t want to see any litter, but dog owners really should be far more responsible. I hope that the next time we do a litter pick there will be nothing. A Wanlip Villager (name & address supplied)
Park access I have some bad news for Resident of Hallam Fields regarding Harrowgate Park (letters page April) firstly the cost of the perimeter fence will be nearer £20,000 and secondly there seems little likelihood that the residents of Hallam Fields will be getting direct access to the Park in the foreseeable future despite the fact it is the only park adjacent to the estate. This means if you live in the area of Payne Drive or Long Meadow Lane facing the Park you will be faced with a 25 minute round trip via the hill on Harrowgate Drive to get into it. The fence will also block access for the residents of the Gates Estate to the fields leading down to the Great Central Railway which has been used since that estate was built. I understand that the Parish Council were asked to consider making a cycle and pedestrian route across the park between the two estates but wouldn't reach a decision even though such a route would benefit the residents of both estates for access to bus stops, schools and eventually shops and community hall. Resident of both estates might also like to ask what their local Councillors are doing about the new park that’s been promised on the land sloping down to the Great Central Railway, access to which will be blocked off by the new fence. GP appointment I recently phoned the Birstall Medical Centre in Whiles Lane for an appointment with the doctor and was told that all appointments had been issued and I would have to phone tomorrow at 8am. This is a new system being “trialled” by the new Practice Manager, installed since the poor rating at the surgery last year. I was told that all complaints about this system should be in writing, which I think is ridiculous when we are being encouraged to phone for appointments. On further investigation I find that there are too few doctors for the number of patients so the 8am rule is a form of rationing. They will not let you book a week in advance. All this is wrapped up in words like patient choice and fairness, but if I phoned at 9am and was told there were no more appointments until tomorrow, is that fair? The system does not take account of people who are too unwell to phone and hang on until they get through or those who fall sick during the day. There have been no patient consultations on this trial and no publicity either. If, like me,you feel strongly about this back door rationing, please contact the surgery Practice Manager as soon as possible else you could find yourself in the situation of feeling ill and no doctor's appointment for days if you miss your place in the 8am telephone lottery. Name and address supplied The Birstall Post invited Birstall Medical Centre to respond to this letter but had not received a reply before the deadline.

Local issues Over the last few weeks I have been getting an increasing amount of concerning calls and reports from Birstall residents having no idea of what's happening in the village, as the elected councillors in the village appear to be playing hide and seek. The first issue is relating to Christine Howes petition for a bus shelter. Christine started a petition to get a bus shelter and when she got well over a hundred signatures but the Parish Council refused to meet and discuss the issue. Even through there is money in the Parish Council budget to go towards bus shelters. There is no reason why the Parish Council could not invite Christine for a talk and try to get a plan of action for the bus shelter as its clearly needed. The second issue is relating to Leicester City Council. The City Council want to install traffic lights at the top of Greengate Lane, this would cause chaos for the school as it would slow traffic at rush hour. There was very little time to react, the council wanted to hear from residents by the 28th March and only sent out 10 letters to residents. Because of the deadline I set up a petition on

9 would surely be for him to make it known to the complainants that he is ineffectual as an ex-Councillor for Birstall and direct them to the appropriate people or organisations that can actually do something to resolve their issues. I’m sure that most people in Birstall know that their Parish Councillors are easily accessible and contactable through the Parish Council Offices on Birstall Road, the website, and the Parish Council’s facebook page. Parish Council and/or Committee meetings are held every two weeks in the Village Hall, and these meetings are all open to the public, indeed time is specially set aside for residents, to enable them to raise any concerns they may have directly to the Parish Council. The Parish Council also have an excellent working relationship with the four currently elected Borough Councillors and County Councillor for Birstall, who hold an open surgery on the last Saturday of every month. Therefore, I hardly think it is fair for it to be said that the elected Councillors for Birstall are playing ‘hide and seek’, I think it is probably that Mr Sansome is looking in all the wrong places. I did consider whether this letter warranted a response at all, the list of issues he has mentioned have either been dealt with, reported on or responded to in the Birstall Post, but for reasons of clarity: Bus Shelter Issue – I wouldn’t consider this an issue, because the project has almost come to fruition. An area and a specified design has been agreed, the licence approved and paid for by the Parish Council and the shelter will shortly be installed. Not only was there an update reported in an earlier issue of the Birstall Post, but it has also been addressed directly with Mrs Howe by the Parish Council, and if Mr Sansome had taken the time to speak to her, I’m sure she would have been able to have furnished him with this more up to date
10 information.
Mrs Howe was not refused a meeting relating to her petition, but was better advised by the Parish Council, that her petition should be presented to the relevant authority, which in this instance was the Leicestershire County Council, they are responsible for installing bus shelters on the Highway. The Parish Council does not have the power to install bus shelters on the Highways. Traffic Lights at the top of Greengate Lane – This ‘2nd issue’ raised by Mr Sansome is also out of date and has moved on, and again, has been responded to in the Birstall Post. This matter was brought to the Parish Council’s attention by a resident on Greengate Lane. The Parish Council reacted immediately and the Chair of the Parish Council together with Borough and County Councillor Iain Bentley held a site meeting with an officer from Leicester City Council and both reported that they came away from that meeting feeling that they had been listened to and hopeful for future partnership working on this matter before any further proposals or schemes were introduced. I have also been made aware that part of this statement was later retracted by Mr Sansome after he was advised by the Editor of the Birstall Post that this matter had been reported on, the partic-

Continued from page 10 can state that the planning application for the school is expected to be lodged with Charnwood Borough Council by mid-May. The school will be open for the autumn term 2017 and be modelled on Fosse brook school in Leicester forest east with class rooms arranged on a gently curing arc facing towards Harrowgate Drive. The school will provide 210 places. On opening in 2017 Year 1 will fully open ready to accept 30 pupils. There will be a phased occupation of the school and will be fully occupied by 2020. This was an election pledge in 2014 by Iain Bentley. We deliver results not petitions! We are the first to admit we are not the best at utilising social media for what we, as your Borough and County Councillors are doing on your behalf. As a busy group of individuals who are not the most up to date with technology, we do our best in our own way. We work hard for local residents and deal with concerns at our monthly drop in session, and also by attending the monthly Parish, Borough and County meetings on your behalf. The design spread across America and several were built in the UK – the only one to survive in this country is the Birstall station, which was listed by English Heritage in 2012. have had, it is clear the public senses a lesser emphasis on community and neighbourhood policing. This would be my first priority. Only by working closely with the community can the police give that feeling of protection and security which is at the heart of best policing. There is too much ‘hidden crime’ such as domestic violence, hate crime and cyber crime, which goes unreported, with victims receiving no redress. This would be a priority for me, as would antisocial behaviour, something which adversely affects so many people’s lives. The PCC’s role is to look after public interest but can only do so if he/she always remains close to the many communities that make up our policing area.
sented a large number of clients in both the civil and criminal courts. In 2000 I qualified as a Crown Advocate giving me rights of audience to prosecute cases in the Crown Court and the Criminal Court of appeal. A year later I was promoted to District Crown Prosecutor for CPS Warwickshire where I joined the Senior Management Team with responsibility for the Crown Court Team and their conduct of the serious casework in Warwickshire. During this period I also presented cases and conducted trials across the West Midlands. Three years ago I joined the CPS East Midlands area. I became a regular Advocate at the Crown Court in Leicester and also appeared for the prosecution in the Crown Court at Northampton, Derby and Nottingham. I also care about the local area. In 2011 I was elected to Harborough District Council where I continue to represent the Dunton Ward. More that anything, I want so serve the residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland as their Police and Crime Commissioner where I will being a lifelong dedication to working for justice and substantial experience of working with the police. Sarah Hill (LibDem) I am here to introduce new ideas to protect frontline policing. The most common complaint I hear about the police is how we don’t see them as much as we used to. Tory cuts to police numbers mean that they now focus on the most serious crimes, leaving less time to patrol locally. People rightly expect the police to respond to low level crimes too. Vandalism, graffiti,
PEOPLE IN Leicestershire will go to the polls on May 5 to elect a new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Leicestershire. The role of a PCC is to secure an efficient and effective police force within their area and to hold the Chief Constable to account for the delivery of the police and crime plan. They are elected every four years. The candidates are: Willy Bach (Lab) I have lived in the city and county for over 40 years I spent 25 years as a Criminal Law barrister in Leicester working alongside the police. I have been a Government Justice Minister and recently Shadow Attorney General sitting in the Shadow Cabinet. My entire career in criminal justice has taught me how to approach this important responsibility. Efficient use of public money is vital, but the almost 20% of Central Government cuts to the Leicestershire Force, including a reduction of over 400 police officers, has been too great. In spite of valiant efforts by all concerned, such a large drop is bound to have resulted in some significant lessening in the Force’s ability to police this diverse area as it would wish. From the many conversations I

speeding traffic and inconsiderate parking can make people’s lives a misery. I will ensure the police give these crimes appropriate attention too. The current Police and Crime Commissioner’s office costs a staggering £1million a year. I will slash these costs and put the money directly into frontline policing. I want to revolutionise neighbourhood watch. By getting volunteers trained and organised they can be visible and collect vital intelligence which the police can use to prosecute criminals. All emergency service and local authorities would be working together top tackle the social and mental health problems that drive much criminal behaviour. As a local councillor for over 14 years and vice chair of the former Police Authority I have the experience and knowledge to do the job. David Sprason (UKIP) David is the Former Deputy Leader of Leicestershire County Council. He is married and has three grown up children and has lived in Leicestershire for the majority of his life David has achieved a number of personal goals including receiving a post graduate certificate in local governance from the South Bank University. David recognised for setting strategy and delivering significant savings while protecting front line services. He has previously worked with the police and helped launch the innovative ‘Keep Safe Cards’ designed for vulnerable people across the force area. This project highlighted the need to work jointly across agencies with people with mental health needs. David believes experience shows that the best form of reassurance policing is having beat teams as part of the community – having boots on the ground helps tackle antisocial behaviour and persistent offending. The Leicestershire police force, like other police forces across the country, has seen its government grant slashed leaving them with a challenging budget. We need to look at innovative ways to save money while protecting front line services. Quickly moving forward on sharing services with other forces across the East Midlands is one way we could do this. After all, criminals do not recognise county borders. David is committed to bring back policing to the community, to serve the community and work on behalf of the community. David will guarantee transparency and scrutiny through accountability and performance reporting of the police in compliance with the agreed Local Police & Crime Plan.

Over 65’s job total THERE HAS been a 25% rise in the number of people over 65 who have jobs in the East Midlands. There are now almost twice as many over 65s in work across the region than there were in 2008. This is the biggest growth of any UK region according to the latest job figures from NatWest’s Regional Economic Tracker.
The Giant Puppets – made by a team from Birstall Methodist, St Theresa’s and St James churches and operated by local young people – performed two sketches at the event. The first was a comic piece about the disciples (played by Ben Farnham and Stephen Warnock) borrowing a donkey (played by Maisie Farnham) from its owner (played by George Merry). It drew much laughter from the crowd. The second piece portrayed the resurrection of Jesus. Susan and Rachel Wheeler were the women surprised at the tomb by the

BIRSTALL CHURCHES made a distinctive contribution to the ‘Leicester @ the Cross’ event which drew thousands of people to the annual act of Christian witness in Leicester City Centre on Good Friday.
Jesus told His disciples that it was to their 19 advantage that He went away so that He could send to them the ‘Helper’ or ‘Comforter’ – the Holy Spirit who, Jesus said, about the world -wide work done by Chris- would “convict the world of sin, of righttian Aid. Duck race News from the churches day THE WHITE Horse duck race is on Bank Holiday Monday May 2. The race itself begins at 2pm but the event begins at noon. “This years Duck race will have even more stalls and games to keep everyone entertained” said Charlotte Foy of the White Horse. “It’s a real community event with so many groups taking part it will spread some of the fundraising into the wider community.” Special guests are basketball stars Barry Lambel and Harrison Gamble from league champions Leicester Riders and Princesses Anna and Elsa from Frozen. Also taking part are Birstall United junior’s football club, The Girl Guides, the Scouts, Acorn Under 5’s and Highcliffe and Riverside. The funds their stalls raise will go directly to their own charities (after a donation to BAGS). “The White Horse would also like to thank all those who have generously donated prizes or their skills to make the event” said Charlotte. Emma Shaw, representative from Birstall BAGS, said: “Birstall BAGS are delighted to be this year’s charity for the duck race, it's a great day out for all ages and a chance for local people to come along and see what we are all about, I think sadly cancer has touched most of us in some way and we have been truly overwhelmed with the support we have received, we would like to thank The white horse and everyone who has donated prizes.”
Sad News Many local people, not only churchgoers, will have been saddened to hear last month of the death of the Revd. Canon Martin Phillips, formerly vicar of Birstall and rector of Wanlip. Martin came with his wife Sylvia, and two young children, to live here in 1973 and stayed for 17 years before moving to Emmanuel church in Loughborough. Martin was a lively and inspirational character on many levels. He brought a fresh approach to traditional worship and his teaching inspired a new vitality in the church. His many innovations included encouragement of young people to participate in informal worship, and the creation of home groups as the backbone of the church community. He became part of the village community, as chaplain to the British Legion and the ATC. In his last years he had suffered debilitating illness and was cared for in the Pilgrim Home, Evington. We thank God for his ministry and grieve with Sylvia, Richard, Louisa and their families. Christian Aid May-time The month of May is when Christian Aid Week always takes place. Sadly, it is only one of many charities which have discovered it is more and more difficult to find willing volunteers to deliver and collect envelopes in local streets, to encourage contributions. An important alternative is to invite people to a social occasion where they can buy attractive donated goods such as plants, cakes. bric-a-brac etc and meet and chat with others as well as to find out more

WI news A PARTICULARLY tuneful rendition of Jerusalem united 33 ladies at Birstall and Wanlip WI’s meeting on 11th April. We discussed passed successful activities including the Bradgate Group event with Black Annis and Margaret told us about a ‘Fashion, Fromage and Fizz’ evening that she had attended. We have our annual fund-raising coffee morning at Birstall Methodist Church on April 30. There will be the usual crafts, cakes and plants, tombola and a raffle to win a handmade quilt. We will be celebrating our 98th birthday in June with a meal at the White Horse in Birstall and planning a coach trip to Trentham Gardens in August. Our speaker, farmer’s wife Judy Marshall brought a most fantastic display of her corn dollies. You can see photographs of the evening on our Facebook page. We learnt about their history and discovered that all corn figures are actually ‘dollies’, the word being a derivative of the word idol. They were originally kept through the Winter as they were the last corn to be harvested and contained the ‘Spirit of the Cornfield’. The next year farmers would shake the seeds over their fields and hope for a good harvest. So the corn dolly gained a reputation as a pagan fertility symbol. Judy nimbly made us a perfect mouse whilst simultaneously talking to us. Corn dollies are a disappearing craft due mainly to the fact that suitable straw is no longer commercially grown on a large scale and difficult to obtain. Andrea won the ‘Spring flowers in a tea cup’ competition cup. Our next meeting is on May 9 when Sandy Leong will talk to us about ‘Malaysia and my Chinese Family’ and the competition is a ‘Rose in any form.’ From Birstall & Wanlip WI

going through treatment often feel negative. At times, you may think you will never feel well again. Many questions may arise, such as: Will I ever feel happy again? Am I going to die? Why has this happened to me? Will I be able to get myself together and enjoy the things that I used to – even my husband or children can't seem to make me feel happy any more People say I must be positive - am I harming myself when I feel so low? All these thoughts, feelings and questions are very natural and completely understandable. Your family and friends may expect you to feel back to normal once your treatment finishes. But many people with cancer find that this is the time when the emotional impact of their diagnosis hits them and they need more support. You may miss the support from the doctors and nurses at the hospital. And some people say they feel a bit abandoned as they no longer belong to their hospital team in the way that they did when they were having the cancer treatment. Having negative feelings can be very draining for you and the people around

THE BIRSTALL POST MAY 2016
Cancer and your Emotions The impact of being told you have cancer reaches far beyond the physical implications and far beyond the person diagnosed. Despite the emotional enormity of having cancer or hearing that a loved one has cancer, hospital appointments, treatment and care are usually totally focused on the patient, their treatment and managing physical signs and symptoms. Often the emotional side of cancer is very much a private battle and one that the patient, their nearest and dearest wrestle with behind the scenes of the physical, anticancer treatment 'front-line'. Perhaps if we could find a way to talk about this battle in shadows, to be more open and share with family and friends or other cancer patients about how we are really feeling then the old adage 'a problem shared is a problem halved' might ring true. To give some insight into this emotional battle others have said that at times, it may feel like a roller coaster. One day you might be quite positive and able to cope. But the next day you could feel so sad and anxious that coping might not seem so easy. All these feelings are completely natural. People diagnosed with cancer and
you. You might find that family and friends don’t understand. Or they may try to tell you how you should feel. This can put a big strain on your close relationships. Don’t feel you are being weak by asking for help or letting someone know how awful you feel. It is not a weakness. Talking about how you feel is more likely to help you and the people around you than staying silent. Doctors and nurses in cancer care are very aware of the range of reactions people can have to cancer. There may also be counsellors or psychologists in the cancer team at your centre. They can help you through difficult, emotional times after your diagnosis, during treatment and afterwards. They will be ready to listen to you, give you support, and suggest ways to help you feel more positive about things. A fist step to talking to people who understand might be to drop into the Birstall BAG's/Coping with Cancer ~Time Out held the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at Wanlip village hall.
