Creating a More User Friendly Church Administration The Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral has recently redefined its finance ministry by establishing a Finance Committee in an effort to offer a user friendly church administration. The Finance Committee has styled itself a Customer Service department whose primary mission is to serve the congregation in the spirit of love and devotion. We believe that we are at our Christian best when we are serving others.

From the Desk New Business Office Hours of the Pastor The world in which we live is constantly changing and the church is faced with the challenges of operating in a professional manner, without sacrificing its core spiritual beliefs and values. Hollywood is blessed with many talented individuals, some of whom are being introduced to you in this newsletter, along with several innovative ideas that is helping us to do finance ministry in a timely and effective manner.

The Hollywood Full Gospel Cathedral is happy to announce the opening of its brand new business office.

The business office will be available Monday – Friday from 10 am to 4 pm to receive donations, provide reports and transact all other business related to the church and its ministry. Please contact Sister Elsie Reavis at 631-842-7091 for more information.

Check Scanning Most churches will tell you that Trustees are the last to leave the church on Sundays because of the typically long time it takes to process checks and cash from the Sunday count. Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral has moved to the next level by employing the same technology instruments and tools available at most local bank branches. As a result, the after church time it takes to perform the “Sunday Count” has been reduced by 50%. Within an hour, the count is completed.

Members should be advised that checks are processed and monies are withdrawn immediately.

Debit Gift Cards All churches need petty cash to meet its responsibility to provide ongoing services to its congregation and community.

Because we live in a growing cashless society, the usage of cash presents a problem of security and accountability.

Consequently, Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral has recently shifted to the usage of debit gift cards. Members who have to make purchases on the behalf of the church will be able to do so without an interruption to their personal cash flow. Usage of such cards also provides detailed information on all transactions performed on the behalf on the church. For more information please contact Nadine Johnson in the church office.

Have you ever sat to write a check and you were not sure of your current bank balance; such a dilemma is visited upon churches as well as individuals. The Finance Committee of the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral has recently expanded its usage of online banking to ensure that the most current, up-to-date and accurate information is available to the church 24 hours a day, 7days a week. The combination of online banking with the latest version of QuickBooks ensures Hollywood’s financial bookkeeping remains 21st century.

Now Accepting Credit & Debit Cards The slogan of Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral is “Changing The Way We Do Church One Pew At A Time”. Towards that end, Hollywood Full Gospel has acquired an Ipad tablet along with “Square” software and a card swiper that now allows members and visitors to worship God through the medium of giving, via the convenience of their debit or credit cards. While advising individuals to use plastic responsibly, the Finance Committee is proud to be using cutting edge technology to better serve the ministry. All transactions are confidential, secured and protected with the latest 16 digit security encryption. For more information please contact Finance Member, Latavia Ross. Because the Finance Committee believes in open transparency, monthly reports of all financial activities will be available to the membership each month.

Please visit the Business Office Monday – Friday to secure your personal copy. Please note, reports will not be distributed on Sunday as this is our sacred Sabbath. As an alternative by providing the church office your email address, you can receive your copy electronically as soon as it is available. The first report is scheduled for August 5, 2012.

The Faces of Finance Julius Wiliams was born in Windsor, North Carolina. Julius’ work history includes 24 years of employment with and retirement from the New York Transit Authority. Julius also worked and retired from Grumman after 17 years. Respect for the individual is an attitude that he has carried throughout his life. In the words of Julius, “It reminds me to always treat people as I would like to be treated. This attitude has helped me to master many difficult situations I have faced through the years”.

Mark Fisher brings over 20 years successful progressive experience in all phases of consumer services, solution management, conflict resolution and project management and accounting function. Mark highly effective communication skills include a demonstrated ability to satisfy people’s needs through relationship building and creative development. Holds high personal standards and works consistently to achieve company goals. Famous Scripture: Ephesians 4:16

Brother Iverson Smith joined the Hollywood Baptist Church in 1967 and has been associated with the church’s finances for a good part of that time, even serving as Chairman of the Trustee Board for over 10 years.

Holding an Associate Degree from Farmingdale College, Brother Smith served as Vice President of of the Long Island Savings Bank for 21 years. Currently he is a Financial Manager for a local tourism board in New York City. His favorite scripture is also Phillipians 3:16.

Lynn Davis is a former NYPD Detective. She currently works as an Intelligence Analyst with a focus on Fraud and Financial Crimes. Lynn holds a Degree from the University of Maryland in Computer Science. Lynn is also a property and causality adjuster and holds certifications in Fraud Claims Law, Project Management and Paralegal studies.

Lynn states she is truly blessed and her favorite scripture is “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your Strength” Mark 12:30.

Latavia Ross As one of my favorite passages Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I am happy to be with Hollywood Baptist establishing myself as a valued member of the congregation. God has blessed me with a BA from St. Johns University and a successful career in banking. Lativia Ross is originally from Burlington Iowa and she enjoys watching movies, singing with Inner Circle and eating good food with friends.

Elsie Reavis received her undergraduate in elementary education from Virginia State University in Petersburg VA and her graduate degree in special education from William & Mary College in Williamsburg VA. She began her career as a classroom teacher for the Brentwood Public School system. After 30 years of dedication, she retired as a math and computer consultant. Elsie favorite scripture is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Phillippians 4:13.
