Health Squad Name: Alexander Domson, CBD Buyer and Manager Where did you grow up? Casper, WY How long have you worked at Terry's Health Products? 1 full year as of March. What are your ideal pastimes? Going outdoors, walks, hikes, working out, paddleboard and kayak in the summer. What is your favorite part of working at Terry’s Health Products? I would honestly say my favorite part about working at Terry's Health Products is the environment brought on, not only my coworkers, but the customers themselves. Getting to meet new people and being able to help them on a personal level is the best. I have a lot of health issues myself and can relate to a lot of our customers and that gives me a lot of pride and joy. Why are you so passionate about CBD? I wanted to become the CBD manager because of my diabetes. I am type 1 diabetic. The reason why CBD helps me so much is because it assists with all the outside factors that pertain to blood sugar whether that’s anxiety, stress, or pain because all those things can raise your blood sugar. I am a military veteran and was stationed in Korea for 2 years and have PTSD and that’s truly why I’m so passionate about it and why I’m driven to learn more about it. Alex’s five favorite products: Peace Garden Hemp Full Spectrum Hemp Extract 1500mg This is one of my favorites. The milligrams are not too low but not too high. It’s also one of our most popular products at Terry's. You just place a dropper of it under your tongue. The benefit of a liquid over a soft gel is because there is a salivary gland under your tongue that absorbs it and goes right into the bloodstream, instead of all the way to through your digestive tract to kick in. Peace Garden Hemp Soft Gels These are a new product for Peace Garden Hemp. We didn’t have the right method on extracting the hemp flower and putting it into a soft gel, but because of Covid-19 and having a bit more time we were able to come up with this. It's a 25mg per soft gel. It’s easy to take and for on the go. The reason you would take this over a liquid would be for convivence and taste. Take two a day and you can see health benefits around sleep issues, anxiety, pain, inflammation and more. Pure Ration Transdermal Patches You can stick this anywhere on your body and even shower with it on. It sticks to your skin for a continuous flow of CBD for up to 96 hours. It works to the area that its applied. For instance if you have lower back pain you place it on that spot and it looks like a Band-Aid on your back. Myriam’s CBD + CBDA This is perfect for someone who has insomnia. It helps people who want that long resting sleep without the groggy effect afterwards. The taste is very potent but it works in about 15-20 minutes. I used to only get about 2-3 hours of sleep and then I started taking this and now I get a full 6 hours. Hippie Jack’s Gummies This is the first product I ever bought from Terry's Health Products, and the one that sparked my interest in CBD. I love them so much because they taste just like a gummy bear.

What a year! Are you sick of talking about it? Good, us too! Let’s talk about how crazy cool this city we live in is and the neat things that are still in the works this year! One year ago, in our March/April issue, you got to read all about the cool new building projects that were happening all over the city. Where are they now? Great question, let’s read ahead and check on the updates from businesses like Northern Plains Dance, The Patterson Building, and the new mixed use space 630 Main. It is always so inspiring watching new businesses and buildings come to life and make Bismarck/Mandan an even better place to call home. It’s not just new buildings that are making the news, but new owners, too. Leilani Shannon has recently taken over Dutch Mill Florist and is the talk of the town. Leilani and her daughter Jessica are here to help you create the perfect bouquet for the upcoming holidays, Mother’s Day and Easter! From florals to facades this issue is fascinating! And that’s not all! We said goodbye to our food taster Medora in our Holiday Issue as she took us through a tasting of all her favorite places. But, no need to fret! Our good friend Kori is taking over with Kori’s Kitchen, and she'll be taking you through all sorts of bread baking fun. She’s starting us off easy with her no knead bread recipe, and over these next few issues will slowly let us try our hands at English muffins, tortillas and so much more!

Jim Christianson was involved in the building’s renovations. He helped turn the old hotel into new apartments. The apartments were named Patterson Place. Now, forty years later, Patterson Place is undergoing another renovation. The Patterson building was bought in 2019 by Schuett Companies with a proposal for exciting renovations. The proposal included an exterior facelift, new vintage signage at the top of the building, a terrace for residents, and exterior staircase to the basement. The original end date for the project was end of 2020, but because of the pandemic, the end date had to be extended. The renovations should now be complete by April 1st. The project is close to completion with most of the interior work on Patterson Place finished. The exterior facelift that involved cleaning up and restoring the brick and stucco is all but finished as well. The focus has now turned to the storefronts. The vintage signs on the top of the building are still planned on. One thing that is likely no longer happening, is the exterior staircase on 5th street leading down to the basement. There was an ongoing debate on whether to include these stairs, but as of now, the decision is no. The stairs were going to be for fire safety, but instead fire sprinklers will be installed. The basement will still to be available as a public space. Through these exciting renovations, the legacy

whatever space they can find, including elevator shafts and stairways. The plans for expansion include renovations and an addition on the first floor along with a whole new second floor. They will also add new necessary medical equipment including a third linear accelerator and second CT scanner. All these additions are to bring additional ease and comfort to the approximately 60-70 patients treated every day. Approval for this project came last spring, and construction began that fall. The north end of the building is where the third linear accelerator will be located. Construction of this area, along with the new treatment machine, is expected to be finished and operational by the end of July. Construction on the new second level has already begun. The entire project is expected to be complete by December 2021. “It’s very exciting, particularly for our patients, but it’s going to be a huge perk for our staff, too,” says Sara. Thanks to past savings and investments, the Bismarck Cancer Center can cover $10 million of the estimated cost. To help pay for the remaining $6 million, in November the Cancer Center kicked off a Capital Campaign titled Healing for Today, Building Hope for Tomorrow. Since then, they have raised almost $2 million dollars. People can donate over the next three years, but if you are interested in donating, now is the best time. Information

a kitchen scale, Cambro container
for all of their recipes.
This recipe will make three smaller loaves or one large loaf and a smaller loaf. I typically make a large loaf and a smaller loaf. The real key with this bread recipe is giving the dough adequate time to rise at room temperature. For the bread dough you will need: •
907 grams of all purpose flour
•
680 grams of lukewarm water (less than 100 degrees)
•
18 grams of salt
•
14 grams of instant yeast
Mix all of these together in a stand mixer until your dough is starting to stick to the sides of the mixing bowl. Transfer to a large bowl or Cambro container and let rise at room temperature for at least two hours. The dough will nearly triple in size. After the dough has risen, it can be refrigerated for a few hours and up to 7 days before it needs to be baked. Once the dough has been refrigerated, bring it back into the kitchen and allow it to rise for 30 minutes. During this time, start preheating your oven to 450 degrees with the Dutch oven inside of it.
Measure out two pounds of your bread dough and allow it to rise for an hour prior to going into the pre-warmed Dutch oven. Before placing your dough make sure you have some parchment paper to give yourself an easy way to get it in and out of the Dutch oven. Once placed in the Dutch oven, take a sharp knife and make a few slashes in the top so steam has somewhere to escape out of the bread. Place the lid back on the Dutch oven and place in the oven. Bake with the lid on for 25-35 minutes (this part really depends on your oven) and then bake for an additional 5-10 minutes with the lid off. Once done baking, remove from the Dutch oven and place on a cooling rack and allow it to cool to room temperature. Slice and enjoy with some butter and sea salt or dipped into a balsamic vinegar and olive oil mixture. I am so excited to have all of you on this bread making journey for the next year of issues! Join me in the May/June issue to learn how to make Foccacia. Happy baking!
To Sharpen Your Focus, Sometimes You Have to Focus on Yourself No, this is not a self-improvement article or the start of a meditation session (although we could all probably use one of those right now). Rather, it’s about viewing things in the proper perspective and focusing on what’s truly important. It is far too easy to get caught up in current events, headlines, or the daily ups and downs of the market. Our TVs, computers, and cell phones do a wonderful job of reminding us that we are in a constant state of crisis. And it’s human nature to want to act on this information – to try and gain a sense of control over our lives. Markets will always go up and down. The economy will ebb and flow, and politicians will still be bickering long after we are gone.
Spending all of our time focused on these things won’t change them. But when it comes to finances, one of the best methods of control you can have is your ability to focus on you, what is important to you, and what you want to accomplish. Reviewing (or creating) your financial plan is a good way to keep the focus on where you are going and what is important to you. Plans are designed knowing the uncontrollable aspects of life. Long-term plans typically do not focus on short-term events. And short-term plans are designed to account for the unexpected. If you’re not sure whether your plan is properly focused on you, give us a call.
Goals are personal. Your financial plan should be too. Millner Wealth Management Group

Experience Matters.... "After working for many years in Womens Health, I found there are so many concerns women have about gynecological and bladder issues. Diva is a customized treatment that works well for vaginal dryness, laxity, urine leakage and post delivery issues." - Shelly Botsford, NP 701-751-4140 | PURESKINNOW.COM | 100 W. For 135 years, we’ve always focused on providing the newest health care technology, like the region’s most advanced surgical robot, which enables our physicians to deliver patients minimally invasive surgical options that were once only available in more urban areas. That’s advanced care close to home.
It’s just one of the 135 Ways Good Happens in Bismarck.
