The Leadership Bismarck-Mandan cohort convened in the new year at The Innovation School in Bismarck. The day includes topics from elementary schools to higher education and from behavioral health to English language learners. Founder Maggie Barth gave the class a tour of The Innovation School.
The class practiced yoga with preschool students and listened to presentations from middle school students. The day closed with a panel of superintendents including Dr. Mike Bitz, Mandan Public Schools; Dr. Jason Hornbacher, Bismarck Public Schools; and Gerald Vetter, Light of Christ Catholic Schools.
Economic Development Day
Cloverdale Foods welcomed the leadership class to Mandan for Economic Development Day. The day was planned by co-chairs Rich Garman, North Dakota Department of Commerce, and Nathan Schneider, Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC. Schneider and Garman kicked off the day with an introduction to economic development. Tracey Miller, North Dakota Department of Commerce, spoke on “Community Development’s Relationship with Economic Development.” Tyler Demars, North Dakota Small Business Development Center, presented on “Entrepreneurship in Bismarck-Mandan.”
Alicia Uhde closed out the day by presenting on Bismarck State College’s Polytechnic Institution.
