Jen's Rainy Day

For Chloe and James, my inspiration.
Hi. My name is Jen. My favorite thing to do is go outside and play, but today I can't because it's raining.
I asked my mommy if I could go outside, but she said that it is too windy, and that I might get blown away! I didn't want to get that happen so I stayed inside.
But now I'm sad and bored. There's nothing to do! I tell this to my mommy and she says, "Of course there's something to do. Come on. I'll show you."
She takes me by my hand and leads me to my room. "Look," she tells me. "Why don't we paint a picture?"
"That's a great idea!" I exclaimed. We painted pictures of dogs and cats, houses and cars, and a farm with fuzzy black sheep. But my favorite was a picture of my family under a rainbow.
When I got bored of painting, I told Mommy that I wanted to play with my toys. Mommy and I bounced a ball to each other, and played with the dollhouse. Soon, my older brother Tom came into the room.
"Go away Tom!" I said. "No." Tom is already ten years old and has a remote controlled truck that he says I can't drive because I'm too young. "I have another idea for you. " He went to his room and came back with his remote-controlled truck. "No," I said. "I don't like your truck."
"Watch," he told me. Tom got my dolls out and sent them riding around without anybody touching them. I was very excited now. "Can I try it?" I asked. "Sure." He said.
But as all good things come to an end, the truck soon had to be recharged. "Aww." I whined. "How long does it take?" "About an hour." He replied. I was sad again. "What can we do now?" I ask my mommy. "Let's bake a cake!" She said.
We all ran down the stairs to the kitchen. I love baking cakes! Soon we were measuring and pouring, and mixing and stirring. We poured the cake batter into the pan and my mommy put it in the hot oven. I asked why I couldn't do it and she replied, "I don't want you to get burned."
While the cake was baking, my mommy and I played dress up in my room. I became a princess, and my mommy became a queen. Tom played too, but he didn't fit into any of my dresses and didn't have any of his own, so he became my servant.
"Beep, beep, beep!" The timer! Mommy, Tom, and I all ran down to get the cake. It smelled so yummy. It was chocolate cake, my favorite! We made frosting while it cooled and mommy spread it all over the cake.
"Why is it white?" I asked. "So that we can decorate it with any colors, of course!" Mommy replied. So I told my mommy that I wanted a rainbow made out of sprinkles, and she made it happen, and then she put tiny little roses all overthe cake! "That looks so yummy!" I exclaimed.
When we finished our pieces of cake, I noticed that there was no rain outside. Instead, there was a rainbow! "Yippee!" I shouted, and ran outside with Tom and mommy right behind. "Look mommy! No more rain!" I said.
As I ran into my front yard, my daddy appeared in his car. "Yay! Daddy's home!" I said. "Come on daddy! Let's go play." "Sure," He replied. We played outside for the rest of the day, under the rainbow, just like I drew.
