Craft hubs are places of celebration for the craftspeople and those who appreciate their work. They provide an opportunity for craftspeople to showcase their work in a professional setting and for the public to learn more about craftsmanship in an engaging interactive way. Additionally, craft hubs can also be sources for research and education. They provide educational programs, such as lectures and workshops, and serve as a repository of information about various craft forms and techniques fromaroundtheworld.

The end users of the craft hubs are the population of the local area and people from further field who are interested in learning more about the history of crafting. By providing exhibits, workshops, and demonstrations, craft hub can bring to life how the craft has been used throughout history. Additionally, craft hub provide a platform for craftspeople to display and promote their work and to bring together the local communityandworktowardseconomicsustainabilityandgrowth.

Theconnectionbetweencraftandthecityissomethingthat hasbeenaroundforcenturies.Inthepast,thecraftwasoften seenasawaytomakealiving,anditwasnotuncommonfor peopletomovetocitieslikeLondontofindwork.Today, however,thecraftisoftenseenasahobbyoranartform,and manypeoplewholiveincitiesdonothaveanyconnectionto it.ThisissomethingthatIfindtobeashame,asIbelievethat craftcanbeaveryimportantpartofcitylife. Thecityhasalongandrichhistoryinthefieldofcraft.Itwas oneofthemostimportantcentersfortheproductionof ribbonweavinginthemedievalperiod. Thecitycanbeseenasaplacewherecraftsmanshipis valuedandwhereitcanflourish.Andthepeoplearemore interestedinarts,culturesandcraft.

TheOldGrammarSchoolislocatedon thecornerofHalesStreetandSilver StreetinthecentralareaofCoventry.It sitsadjacenttoa two-storyshop buildingsonHalesStreetandisdirectly connectedtoaredundantfast-foodunit andpubonSilverStreet. Alltheadjoiningbuildingsarebrickin contrasttotheredsandstoneoftheOld GrammarSchool.Hale’sStreetisabusy streetwithbusandtaxiuse. TheareatotherearoftheOldGrammar Schoolis repavedasanopenspacefor usebytheOldGrammarSchool.

Thenewdesignshouldbeabreathofnew lifeintothebuilding.Theapproachshould appreciatethevalueoftheoriginalstructure areinventionorrebirthoftheexisting building.Thedesignprocesswillbe influencedbythekeywordslikeauthenticity, bespoke,nostalgia,andromanticismandtry toutilizetheobsessionofsocietyfor handcraftedandsustainableproducts.

Visitors to the museum can be guided through the displays, which often involve carving or sculpting techniques, to learn the history and techniques of the craft. Demonstrations of traditional craft methods can be done, which entails both seeing and participating in the craft. The museum can alsoofferclassesforthosewhowishtolearn moreaboutthecraft.
