Dear Howard University Community:
AROUND CAMPUS
Howard Thurman, acclaimed activist, theologian and former dean of Howard’s Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, often spoke about the need for us to center down. The hectic nature of the impending holiday season is a perfect time for that reflection.

In this edition of the Bison Beat, you will read about the School of Business being ranked among the top business schools in the nation by Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Also, the Association of American Medical Colleges reported that Howard University is the top undergraduate institution that sends Black students to medical school in the country. The facts show that Howard provides competitive academic programs that produce stellar scholars. For this, we can be proud and appreciative.
ALUMNI ON THE MOVE
The Howard family also continues in its motto to serve the underserved. On Nov. 10, in honor of Veterans Day, more than 150 students gave their time to serve veterans, connecting those in need to essential services in the District of Columbia. Also, our radio station, WHUR, hosted its annual holiday fundraising initiative, Food2Feed, successfully raising more than $79,000 in donations to feed families this holiday season. Through service, we are sharing and growing. This season, let us center down and reflect on our history and our promising future. We may forget that the University has experienced challenges in its history, and has emerged through many storms, but we remind ourselves that alma mater was built with fortitude. Our history also includes countless triumphs that fill the annals of our nation. This history and our love for alma mater inspires hope and confidence that Howard will continue to thrive, grow and improve with the galvanized support of the students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends that achieve its greatness. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to lead my alma mater. We are all invested in its success. To continue investing in our students, I encourage you to visit www.howard.edu/bridgingthegap. Let us charge forward in hope, faith and love, ever marching with grace, strength, humility and peace toward our fellow men and women. In Truth and Service,
Wayne A. I. Frederick President
