SOUTH Indian cinema owes a big debt to writer K Vijayendra Prasad for authoring some of their biggest blockbusters including son S S Rajamouli’s mega-hits Baahubali an RRR. Vijayendra who is also the writer of the Salman Khan hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan, has now rescued Karan Johar’s long-in-the-making grossly over-budgeted Brahmastra. Set to be released on September 9 the film directed by Ayan Mukerjee features the director’s buddy Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. Brahmastra is being whispered about as a huge loss maker even before release.

Recently Ranbir Kapoor revealed that Vijayendra Prasad was called in as consultant to make changes in the film and that those changes have added a considerably to the film’s intrinsic value.

As always, Vijayendra Prasad downplays his contribution. “Ranbir Kapoor is being too kind. I have not done anything much. It is like a meal when cooked and someone is asked to taste it. The taster may suggest that the food needs some extra salt. I was shown Brahmastra and asked to give my opinion. I added some salt to the dish, that’s all.”

However the buzz in Karan Johar’s circle is that the climax of Brahmastra has been altered on Vijayendra Prasad’s suggestion. But, Vijayendra denies making any radical changes to the film. “I’ve just tightened some nuts and bolts, that’s all. Please don’t give me excessive credit for some suggestions that I made to fine-tune the product. Ayan Mukerjee has made a wonderful film. Kids will love it.”

Jasmin bhasin to make her bollywood debut in a mahesh Bhatt film; will start shoot in July

JASMIn Bhasin started her journey in the entertainment industry with TV shows like Tashan-E-Ishq, Dil Se Dil Tak among others and is known for her bubbly onscreen roles. While she also tried her hands at reality shows such as Bigg Boss and later with music videos, now Jasmin Bhasin is looking at taking the next step in her career with films. Fans of the actress would be aware that she will be making her debut in movies with the film Honeymoon alongside Gippy Grewal. Now reports have it that the actress has signed her Bollywood film and it is with none other than the famous Mahesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt.

Jasmin Bhasin will be making her Bollywood debut. She has signed a film which will be penned by Mahesh Bhatt and presented by Vikram Bhatt and K Sera Sera. Produced by Loneranger and Zee, the untitled film is directed by Manish Chavan, who will be making his directorial debut with this venture. Details of the genre and the rest of the cast are yet to be revealed. Reports have it that the actress will kick off the shoot of the film at the end of July this year.

A source close to the actress confirmed the news adding, “While details of her character etc. are unknown at this juncture, Jasmin will play an interesting role that promises to take her fans by surprise. She is extremely excited to start work on the film and has already started prepping for it.”

As for her film with Gippy Grewal, Honeymoon is slated to be a Diwali release. The film is expected to hit the big screens on October 25, 2022.

karan Johar’s birthday bash leaves 55 guests covid-infected?

JUST last month on May 25, filmmaker Karan Johar hosted a lavish birthday bash to ring in his 50th birthday. With a theme of ‘Black & Bling,’ the night turned out to be a shimmery affair with the who’s who from the industry in attendance. In fact, the party hosted inside Yash Raj Studios in Andheri saw Bollywood celebrities from the young gen of Ananya Panday and Janhvi Kapoor to Vicky Kaushal and his bestie Malaika Arora to industry veterans like Tabu, Twinkle Khanna, Sonali Bendre, Madhuri Dixit, Raveena Tandon, Juhi Chawla and a host of others in attendance.

If that wasn’t enough, also making appearances were the four Khans of the industry Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Saif Ali Khan along with Kareena Kapoor Khan. Now just a week after the lavish glitzy bash we hear that something untoward has befallen many an attendee. Although the numbers are not conclusive, it has come to light that at least 50 to 55 of Karan Johar’s guests have been infected by the Covid virus after attending his birthday bash on May 25.

While the list of those who contracted the virus is unknown, it is learnt that it does include several top Bollywood actors. A source in the know says, “Several of Karan’s close friends from the Bollywood film industry are Covid-infected after the party, although they not revealing that they’ve tested positive. In fact, Kartik Aaryan who was not at Karan Johar’s party tested positive for Covid, he got the virus from one of his heroines who were there at the party and with whom Kartik was promoting his film.”

nOW, we hear that Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for her next release Tejas. In fact, the grapevine claims that post the Dhaakad debacle the makers of the film RSVP are reshooting certain portions as well as planning to release the film directly on OTT.

Revealing details about the same a wellplaced industry insider tells Bollywood Hungama, “Post Dhaakad the makers of Tejas have decided on reshooting certain portions of the film to avoid making a similar mistake. Besides this, given the recent box office turmoil, or rather the past record of Kangana, RSVP feels that Tejas will fare better if it features a direct to OTT release.” Ask for details about the release and he continues, “Ronnie Screwvala and the RSVP team working on Tejas are still brainstorming about a direct to OTT release, they are yet to lock a platform and date. But currently the general consensus is that an OTT release will be beneficial to all parties, producer, actor and director. They do not want to be caught surprised with a similar box office fate as Dhaakad and would want to secure their commercials.” However, to gain a little more clarity on the subject, Bollywood Hungama reached out to RSVP, who denied the developments completely. In fact, as per RSVP, the film is still slated for a theatrical release in October. Dispelling the rumours as hearsay the production house asserts that while certain portions of the film are yet to be shot, the same will be completed in time for an October 2022 release. As for the date itself, the makers of Tejas reiterate that the film will release in theatres on October 5.

Tejas, which is set in 2016, revolves around a daring female fighter pilot, and the decision by the India Air Force to induct women into combat roles.

SInGER K K passed away due to cardiac arrest on May 31. The musician was in Kolkata during the incident and he had visited the Bengal capital to perform at Nazrul Mancha. Followed by his untimely demise, there were videos that were doing the rounds about the singer complaining of a chest pain during the performance. From suspecting a foul play to bashing the event organizers for a bad venue and infrastructure, the sad demise of the 53-yearold singer has raised many questions. Responding to them were the event organizers BlackEyed Event House.

Speaking about Shah Rukh Khan featuring in three release in a single year a well-placed industry source says, “With three film in a single year there is a lot riding on SRK right now. Not to mention that all three film are big-ticket Bollywood entertainers mounted on an even bigger budget. Given this there seems to be anywhere upwards of Rs. 300 cr riding on Shah Rukh Khan alone.”

While we can’t wait to watch all three films, 2023 is certainly going to be a bonanza for Shah Rukh Khan with releases scheduled evenly through the year, the actor might just end 2023 as the highest grossing actor of the year.
