Fraser Valley 2011 | visitorschoice.com
Festivals & Farmers’ Markets Producing a cornucopia of annual harvests from sweet corn in Chilliwack to vineyards in Langley, it’s no wonder the Fraser Valley attracts some serious foodie attention! You’ll find a wealth of yearround festivals and markets to delight your tastebuds and indulge your senses, all while taking in the beautiful majesty of the Valley itself. Since the 1830s, cattle and dairy products, poultry, root crops and grain, vegetables and berries have been produced here, and throughout the valley you’ll find cheese makers, honey producers, even llama and alpaca raisers! And at harvest time in the fall, festivals abound, celebrating everything from fragrant garlic and cranberries, to baked goods and preserves. Even the popular EAT! Vancouver Festival has created an “EAT! Fraser Valley” event to cover the abundance of farm-totable options found here, and Slow Food Vancouver offers self-guided Cycle Tours of Agassiz and Chilliwack. So whether you find yourself perusing local farmers’ markets or in awe of the annual foodie festivals, you’ll want to visit again and again to experience all the mouthwatering agritourism adventures here! See page 6 for a list of festivals and markets.
